Edge animate crashes once video imported

hi
I'm trying to import a video into edge timeline. It imports fine and works exactly how i want on the timeline, but if i close and reopen the file edge immediately crashes, its only when i add video that this happens.
can anyone help?
Emily

Hi,
Thanks for getting back to me.
As mentioned before, I know how to resize the video – the problem was that once it comes in incorrectly, the visible aspect ratio (black area) cannot be changed.  To help clarify, here’s a summary of exactly what happens:
When I import the video, no matter what size or aspect ratio it actually is, it comes in at 320x45 – but the black image area is 90x45 (a 2:1 aspect ratio).  See attached image.
When I resize the video to the correct frame size, the grab handles extend to the proper size, but the black image area remains at the 2:1 aspect ratio.  See the image in this discussion provided on October 2, showing a 720x405 video with the black area still at 2:1 (720x360).
Since I didn’t hear back from you, I did some additional testing.  Even though the black area indicates an incorrect aspect ratio, if the video is resized to the proper frame size, it plays properly – filling the entire frame represented by the grab handles. So, the bug doesn’t affect how the video plays when previewing the project in a browser, it only affects how it appears when working with it in Edge Animate.
At this point, I’ll consider the issue closed since I’ve discovered I can work around it.  I hope the info in this discussion can assist anyone else who encounters this issue.  However, I would appreciate your team looking into why video comes in at an incorrect size, and why the black image area appears incorrectly.  This makes it difficult to line things up when working with the video in Edge Animate.
Thanks again for your attention to this issue and for your assistance.
Regards,
- Joel

  • Edge Animate crashes on mac laptop Yosemite

    All-
Edge Animate has been crashing like a champ on my new Mac Laptop that runs Yosemite  OS
Of course I'm in the middle of developing a web site for a client
I've looked around for upgrades on the cloud...I'm up to date with version 2014.1  (there's a 2014.1.1 and a 2014.5.1) but my adobe cloud only is allowing me to download 2014.1)
I saw a "patch" somewhere on the this site...couldn't find where to download it
Whatever, clearly if it's this difficult to find a fix...it hasn't been fixed yet
Can anyone help me with this problem?

I'm experiencing the same behavior with the same setup -- New MBP running Edge Animate 2014.1.1 on Yosemite (OS X 10.10.2). I've uninstalled/reinstalled and that seemed to fix the issue but it's crashing often again. Sometimes when simply creating a new project or navigating to image files, sometimes while working in the Timeline. When it's in the Timeline, I often get 2 error popups. The first one reads "An error occurred. Please save your work and restart Edge Animate". The second reads "(unknown C++ exception)".  See images below.

  • Edge animate crashing while saving...

Edge animate always fails while saving one of my projects. I tried it in different systems but still the same issue. Does edge have a limit in no of symbols??? because i have about 100 symbols.... can you provide me with a patch or something for this issue. Please reply ASAP. I am attaching the project here..
    http://1drv.ms/UWTgUS

In case any of the staff are trying to rectify this bug...here is something I noticed that may be helpful. When I discover that my recent change/addition has not been saved (because I must now check after each step by refreshing the html file in the browser, not just checking with control-enter) I have to close edge and restart it. When I close edge it asks if I want to save! It shouldn't be asking this, because I just saved!
I'm wondering if the issue has to do with not enough memory. It seems the problem occurs when there are too many operations during the creation of the new symbol. Edge has to remember each step, so it can give you the option of undoing. Perhaps if there are too many steps "memorized" there is not enough memory left for the save procedure?? Just a thought. If I had more ram would the problem go away? I only have 4 gigs of ram on the laptop I'm using. Do any of you guys who are having similar problems have more or less ram?

That LOOKS like a graphic adapter driver problem

I am having the same issue.
Your best bet is to logon to Adobe website and go to customer support. If you chat with someone they can go on your computer and trash all your preferences. Your computer will be stable again. It worked great for me, but I just imported an XML from Resolve and it is crashing the system again.
    Good luck.

  • FCP6 and QT 7.6.4 crash on video import

Time after time, FCP and QT have crashed after importing videos. If the videos have been exported previously, then they work fine in FCP 6 and QT 7.6.4
The are .AVI and .MOV files.
One file was a .MOV file that was converted from .MTS on another mac.
    Any ideas?

I can't even get that far. When the video opens and I try to click anything, it immediately crashes and says, " The application QT Player quit unexpectedly. Mac OS X and other applications are not affected. Click Reopen to open the app again. Click Report to see more details or send a report to Apple. "Close" "Report..." "Reopen." '

    Hi,
After creating a new project, go to File > Project settings > General and change the Video renderer to Mercury Playback Engine software only. Select "Delete Previews" after you click on OK. Now import your file and see if it does the same thing again.
If it still doesn't work, please specify the following details:
    OS?
    RAM?
    CPU?
    Graphics card?
    Thanks,

I am unsure of the origin of the source file.
It is video from a conference shot from two different camera angles...not sure what applications created the file, or if mp4 was the native saved format from the camera(s) that shot it.
Like I said though, it worked fine (both camera angle files), was editable...I saved the first clip I needed down, went to lunch while Audition downloaded because I needed to remove some background noise, came back and get nothing but crashes.
The only specifics I have for the file are as follows.
    3.21gb file
    43:48 length
    1920x1080
    data rate: 10361kbps
    total bitrate 10521kbps

  • Can we import Flash into Edge Animate

    Hi Dan,
There is no such workflow as far as I know. However, Animate does support native HTML5 videos.

  • Import edge animate into after effects

Hi, is there any possibility to import a file that is created in edge animate into after effects?

I don't think you can as they are both two different technologies. Understand that an Edge Animate file is really an HTML5 file. The actual stage that is used when creating your Edge Animate file will also import an HTML file.
Maybe one of the Adobe mods can chime in to help.

  • Play MP4 with Edge Animate on iOS / iPhone - not working

I have placed an MP4 into my Edge Animate file. When I view the HTML file on the iPhone there is a black box where the video should be.
I have added the TouchStart function to my MP4 on the stage. "sym.$("Ambush_MotionPoster_Web")[0].play();"
I have touch/tapped like crazy. nothing happens.
I can navigate directly to the MP4 in the media folder and it plays fine on the iPhone so I know the iPhone will play the MP4.
I can view it in the Safari browser on the desktop. I have searched the web and forums but no luck.
The Adobe help makes it sound like a cake walk: Edge Animate Help | Add video to animations

    Thanks.

The patch (EA 2014.1.1) with the fix is live now.
