Edge Animate Marquees - None are showing in IE

I have just launched my latest website, and none of my marquee's are showing in Internet explorer.  It works great in all browsers except for that one.  Compatibility mode does nothing  to help, just makes the site look bad.  What can I do to get my rotators to show in IE?
Thanks
JB

I found this article on the forums
http://blogs.adobe.com/edge/2013/08/07/update-to-edge-animate-cc-is-here-fixing-compatibil ity-issues-with-ie11/
The only issue is that by adding in the yepnope.js code, it adds some funky scroll bars inside of the rotator.

  • Interaction between Edge Animate and RaphaelJS (or any svg library)

    Hello.
    Edge Animate's possibilities are really nice as long as i'm working with anything rectangular. The overall UI is very practical and so, but when you want to work with more complex shapes overlapping it gets very limitated.
    I've looked around with no success, so may be someone here as a clue for me.
    How would you integrate something from this kind of page (interactive map of australia) and make the map and an Edge environment work together.
    Here i'm thinking :
    - Edge buttons that would highlight some parts of the map (or reveal some divs from the original html)
    - RaphaelJS code at building of the map that would interact with edge symbols.
    So far, my knowledge of code/js/css seems too limited to get things done as i wish, any ideas/insight welcome.

    Hi Franck!
    You are right. The default implementation uses the SVG as a background image applied to a div container. That's the reason why you loose all the interactivity within the SVG itself. I love Raphael, but I think it would be an overhead for your map example.
    Here is a light weight solution with (jQuery SVG) that works like a charme with non-rectangle click areas.
    Assuming you have a rectangle placed on the stage (named "playground") you can load the SVG into that container within the "compositionReady" handler of your composition like this:
    yepnope({
         load: "libs/jquery.svg.package-1.4.5/jquery.svg.min.js",
         complete: function() {
              // Load Handler for SVG Graphics
              function onSvgLoad(svg, error) {
                $('path#Cyan').click( function(){
                     alert('hello Cyan');
                     // Your code here
              // Select Edge Animate Element for SVG display
              var playground = sym.$("playground");
              // Load SVG Graphics
              playground.svg({});
              var svg = playground.svg('get');
              svg.load('images/pie.svg', {
                   addTo: false,
                   changeSize: false,
                   onLoad: onSvgLoad
    I put together a small demo project with an example svg and all dependencies:

    Hope that helps!

  • Edge Animate and typekit

    Hi,
    Can anyone help me please with this.
    I followed the video tutorial but couldn't add the font from typekit. It would show the new font as an available, but the look didn’t change.
    Best,
    Lana
    P.S. I did try to contact the adobe chat and phone support  but was told that the Edge Animate and typekit are only supported via forum

    Hi Lana_Studio,
    You most likely need to add "127.0.0.1" to the list of allowed domains on your kit in Typekit.
    See these articles for more information:
    http://blogs.adobe.com/edge/2012/01/27/web-fonts-and-edge-together-at-last/
    (Scroll down to "How to Embed Web Fonts Using Typekit")
    http://help.typekit.com/customer/portal/articles/6857-using-typekit-while-developing-local ly
    Don't forget to publish your kit after adding 127.0.0.1. Also, note that it may take a few minutes (I noted up to about 15 minutes) before the changes to your kit will be completely published.

  • Why edge animate?

    Flash was originally designed as an animation tool and it is in many ways superior to edge animate. The only problem is of course the lack of html export support. Just add the option to export to SVG or HTML5+javascript to flash and you have a much greater tool.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adobe_Flash
    edit, and just a quote from wikipedia:
    Adobe Flash continues to be a favored animation program for low-cost 2D television and commercial animation, in competition with Toon Boom Animation. Notable users of the software include DHX Media Vancouver for productions including Pound Puppies and My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, Nelvana for 6teen and Clone High, Williams Street for Metalocalypse and Squidbillies, and Nickelodeon Animation Studios for Wow! Wow! Wubbzy! El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera, Danny Phantom and Happy Tree Friends . Flash is less commonly used for feature-length animated films; however, 2009's The Secret of Kells, an Irish film, was animated primarily in Adobe Flash, and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature at the 82nd Academy Awards.

    Hi Andrei123123,
    Are you on Windows OS? If yes can you try the following:
    Close Animate if already launched.
    You can download TCPView from this link - TCPView for Windows
    Launch TCPView, make sure that you are not running Edge Animate. It will show you a list of all the processes and the ports in use. Sort on the port number and check if 54321 is listed. If it is listed then try closing the program which is using the port and
    Re-launch Edge Animate and check if it launches fine with the start page rendered properly.

  • After Effects vs Edge Animate vs Flash vs Photoshop

    Hi - I am looking to create short (cartoon) animated training videos with voice and/or music to be posted on companies' intranets in MP4. What is the best software for this purpose?
    I have been looking for a comparison chart (in laymans terms) describing the similarities and differences between the porgrams, the output files they can produce and the pros and cons of using each.
    Thanks!
    Tracy

    These apps are completely different animals. If you are going to produce training videos that are more than a few seconds long then you need and editing program like Premiere Pro to edit the shots and do the sound and music mixing.  After Effects or something like Cartoon Smart can be used to create the cartoons. Premiere Pro will take you about a week to get a handle on, After Effects will take quite a bit longer. If you have not done any cartoon animation before then you either have to know how to draw and understand the principals of cell animation or use something like Cartoon Smart to create your characters. Edge Animate and Flash are for creating interactive animations not for making movies. You can embed movies in either and both have long and steep learning curves to do something like you are describing.
    Photoshop if for editing photographs and if you are a skilled artist you can use it for creating original artwork from scratch. Illustrator is probably better suited to create cartoons. There is no program that you can just buy and a week later produce a commercial product. The hardest part of training videos is not the animation, it's the writing. Most online training is really awful because of poor writing so that's where you should start. Either learn to write training or hire or collaborate with a good writer, figure out a style that you want to emulate, make it your own, learn the appropriate software, make a good demo, then go out and pitch your work. The last training videos that I worked on that were mostly animation had a production team of 15 people and we worked for a month to produce 5 hours of quality training. About 750 man hours were spent on the project. Cartoons are not fast and easy. There are no magic buttons you can press to make things work out in minutes.
    If you give us an example that shows exactly the kind of thing you want to do then we can give you an idea of production techniques to achieve your goal, production time per finished minute, and the amount of time you can expect to spend learning how to use the software to create the product.

  • Edge animate and Cordova build

    So recently I was trying out some edge commons functions and have gotten them to work on browsers. So I wanted to do a little experiment so I've decided to try compile the project with cordova build. Well was hoping for it to work but it seems like somewhere went wrong and when I run the apk, it wasn't even able to retrieve the list of items from the JSON file.
    basically the program just loads a list of items from the click of a button and you can also click on the black box on the right to display an image.
    //get json information and display
    $.getJSON("content.JSON")
      .success(
      function(data){ console.log("incoming data: ", data);
      $.each(data.shoes, function(index, item){
      var s = sym.createChildSymbol( "template", "content");
      s.$("title").html( item.item );
      s.$("description").html( item.description );
      s.play(index * -500);
      s.setVariable("spotlight", item.spotlight );
      });//each
      });//success
    btw thanks joel pau for helping out previously.
    does anyone here have any similar experiences when trying out cordova build with edge animate?
    here are my files..
    Dropbox - index.zip
    Dropbox - test-debug.apk
    Perhaps there's still some cordova api I'll need to add before compiling??

    Not sure if this helps you. I'm going through the same problem. Even raised this issue here in the forum and nobody could help me. So I sought help forum PhoneGapBuild. Looks like PhoneGapBuild not recognize <audio> of html5, so need to use api audio PhoneGapBuild own. Here's a link to my post. Tutorial on how to make by Chris Griffith. I hope this helps you too.

  • Recreating super slick iPhone 6 video scroll effect in Edge Animate

    On the iPhone 6 marketing page page, there are several HTML5 video elements (MP4) that react to scrolling in realtime. This is a super slick effect and I'm curious how it's working. Wondering if there's a way to do this in Edge Animate since frames are in absolute time and Edge Animate uses time as only a guide (no exact frames). Also working in Adobe Muse, so if there's a way to use that, great!
    This would be a great alternative to using 100+ JPEGs as the file size with an MP4 for tons of the same data is MUCH lower.
    Here's the page: http://www.apple.com/iphone-6/
    Screenshot for reference:  http://i.imgur.com/pCHkstw.png
    You'll have to scroll down to the shot right above "iPhone at its largest. And thinnest." heading.
    NOTE: This seems to work for MP4 only (not OGG-only browsers like FF for OSX). Tested in Chrome and Safari.

  • Are Adobe EVER going to make Edge Animate scale-to-fit (like Flash)?

    I've been following the progress of Edge Animate (formerly Edge) ever since Steve Jobs decided he wasn't having Flash on the iPad.
    With each new version I've been desperately looking for the feature that I consider the most important of all: Scale-to-fit
    There are a couple of discussions already on this forum where people have requested this feature - but both have been sidetracked by replies from people who haven't understood what 'scale-to-fit' is. So let me explain Scale-to-fit:
    I'm talking about the feature in Flash - where if the HTML dimensions are set to 'Percent' - then the resultant movie will scale-to-fit any browser window. Here is an example of what I mean:
    http://www.skippingschool.co.uk
    - try changing the browser size and you'll see the whole frame (graphics and images) scales without changing its proportions.
    When the latest version of Edge Animate came out with its built-in easy-to-follow 'Resize' Lesson, I thought Adobe had finally found an answer. But good though this feature is, it doesn't solve the problem. It's only possible to properly scale-to-fit images - not graphics.
    It's now more important than ever that Adobe finds a solution to this problem. The world is going 'Responsive' - its not just a fad. And 'Responsive' is not just about three columns being squeezed into one. All Responsive sites require images, graphics AND animations to scale-to-fit. So Adobe's tutorial showing how Edge Animate can be added to WordPress sites is of limited use because it won't work for Responsive web sites.
    So please Adobe, will someone tell me if scale-to-fit is EVER going to happen? I don't mind if it's 3 months, 6 months, 9 months down the line - but I need to know if it's worth me sticking with Edge Animate - or whether I should be looking toward HTML5 Canvas or something else for a solution?
    Alternatively, is there some fundamental reason why it can NEVER happen?
    Please tell me? Just put me out of my misery!

    Hi Sarah,
    I hope you don't mind but I played around with your code a bit and managed to get the kind of scale-to-fit behavior that I believe the OP was asking about.  I think the trick is to make sure that you also check whether the scaled height of the stage exceeds the height of the browser window and change the scaling so that it is responsive to changes in both the width and height of the window, whichever is the limiting factor. The code I changed in CompositionReady appears in bold below.  I hope this helps.
    sym.$("#Stage").css({ // Set the transform origin so we always scale to the top left corner of the stage
    "transform-origin":"0 0",
    "-ms-transform-origin":"0 0",
    "-webkit-transform-origin":"0 0",
    "-moz-transform-origin":"0 0",
    "-o-transform-origin":"0 0"
    function scaleStage() {
        var stage = sym.$('Stage'); // Set a reusable variable to reference the stage
        var parent = sym.$('Stage').parent(); // Set a reusable variable to reference the parent container of the stage
        var parentWidth = stage.parent().width(); // Get the parent of the stage width
        var parentHeight = $(window).height(); // Get the browser window height
        var stageWidth = stage.width(); // Get the stage width
        var stageHeight = stage.height(); // Get the stage height
        var desiredWidth = Math.round(parentWidth * 1); // Set the new width of the stage as it scales
        var desiredHeight = Math.round(parentHeight * 1); // Set the new height of the stage as it scales
        var rescaleWidth = (desiredWidth / stageWidth); // Set a variable to calculate the new width of the stage as it scales
        var rescaleHeight = (desiredHeight / stageHeight); // Set a variable to calculate the new height of the stage as it scales
        var rescale = rescaleWidth;
        if (stageHeight * rescale > desiredHeight) // Do not scale larger than the height of the browser window
                        rescale = rescaleHeight;
    // Rescale the stage!
               stage.css('transform', 'scale(' + rescale + ')');
         stage.css(  '-o-transform', 'scale(' + rescale + ')');
               stage.css('-ms-transform', 'scale(' + rescale + ')');
         stage.css('-webkit-transform', 'scale(' + rescale + ')');
               stage.css('-moz-transform', 'scale(' + rescale + ')');
         stage.css('-o-transform', 'scale(' + rescale + ')');
               parent.height(stageHeight * rescale); // Reset the height of the parent container so the objects below it will reflow as the height adjusts
    // Make it happen when the browser resizes
    $(window).on('resize', function(){
               scaleStage();
    // Make it happen when the page first loads
    $(document).ready(function(){
        scaleStage();
