Edge Animation on multiple pages Broken - Menu Navigation BROKEN

I've created a menu in Edge Animate that navigates my DPS document, it works fine however I've noticed that the animation just will not work subsequent pages, i.e it will only work on 1,3,5 but not on 2,4,6 etc
I've tried all the different folio overlay/layer order/ OAM vs HTML tricks. My navigation file works fine, so I'm convinced that it is something else.
Has anyone else noticed this???? Has anyone resolved this problem.
In my opinion this is an incredible issue that needs to be resolved, at the moment our app is useless as the navigation is a key client requirement.

I've just had the same problem and I can confirm that it happens only with consecutive articles and with Edge Animate generated html files.
I know the reason why this happens: the iOS loads two contents per time, in this case the first page of the first and second.
This behaviour is used by the iOS to improve the swipe smoothness and user experiences. In other words it loads the second content in the memory and then, when you go to the second page the content is allready rendered.
I know this issue but the problem is that it happens only with Edge Animate html files... if I replicate the process using Muse CC HTML files it works fine.
I'm getting mad with this issue, please let us know how to solve the problem.

Hi,
I want to display an animation on multiple pages that are all located in there own respective folders. I want to be able to move then animation files into it's own dedicated folder e.g. /includes/edge folder where I can still use this animation in other pages not locate in this folder.

You can have your animate files in a folder and load them in different pages using a iframe

Why do my Jquery functions stop working when adding an Edge animation to my page?

I've used Edge now for a few months on several projects and it's very useful for a designer like myself to create html5 animations as quick as Flash, but I'm noticing that everytime you add edge to a page, the jqeury it uses overwrites any others on the page and breaks other jquery based widgets. Why is this?
I've had a coder friend I work with have a look at the problem and his only solution was to put the edge animation inside an iframe, which is far from ideal.
Is there a way to use Edge and still use other jquery widgets on the page? (Basically I'm using a Nivo Slider jquery fading image box further down the page, which is breaking).

With free hosting, you get what you pay for - nothing. It's

Selecting multiple pages from menu (thumbnails)

I installed the lasted Acrobat 9 Standard (9.4.5) update (6/19/2011) and since then, I have been unable to select a group of pages within the Pages menu (thumbnails) to move, delete and do some other operations. I have always been able to do this. Now, neither holding the shift key nor holding the Ctrl key allows me to select multiple pages to do anything as a group. I have to hold shift key, drag and drop and even though I do that, the results are not the same as it was before.
Did something change with the update? Or perhaps a particular setting was altered with the update? Any thoughts?I

Thank you for taking the time to notify us of this unexpected behavior after updating to Acrobat 9.4.5. This has been identified as a bug by our Engineering team. They are hard a work adding a fix to be included in the next update. There is no time frame for this patch to be released.
In the meantime if you are trying to manipulate contiguous pages you can drag the blue box around the pages and perform any action on the pages within the blue selection area. Of course this will not help to choose pages that are not nearby to each other.

Stopping Edge animation play after page visit.

I have an Edge animation as a banner on my homepage. I was wondering how, if for example someone landed on my homepage the animation plays out, then navigates to my portfolio page, then back to the homepage, the animation would not play again. I think I'm trying to go the more is less route, also I think it will increase overall page loading speed, than trying to replay the animation everytime you return to my homepage. I hope this made sense. Thanks.

Hi there, the first thing that comes to mind is to use session storage. Set a variable "isFirstTime", and check it on Stage.compositionReady in Edge. You can then jump to the end of your timeline, effectively skipping the animation. Alternately, you could set and check session storage outside of Edge, and swap out the div's contents to either contain Edge content, or a static image, etc.

Session storage stores data until the user closes the browser, so they would see the animation again if they closed the browser and visited your site they next day, but they wouldn't see it again on the same visit.

Link Edge animation to HTML page?

Is there a way to link my Edge animation to an Index HTML page in the same folder as the Edge.HTML? I linked a webpage with the OpenURL trigger and it worked. But I would like to link it to the index page within the same folder so that I can test it before uploading it to the internet.
The trigger link that worked is:
window.open("http://www.mywebsite.com", "_self");
But can I use something like:
window.open("index.com", "_self");

You don't need the sitename - just use this (assuming you are calling it from the same directory as you said):
window.open("index.html", "_self");
Else, you should be able to use this if it one folder deep:
window.open("../index.html", "_self");

Adobe Edge animation glitching html page and SVG disappearing

Hi all,
I am having an issue with an Adobe Edge animation that I am making for a client - I am fairly new to Edge so this may be an easy fix!
There is an SVG named chassis (Looks like a brown tadpole) that halfway through the animation - disappears and then glitches the webpage by drawing a white background that overlaps everything...
I have set the background in Edge to transparent so I don't know why this is happening, even in the 'Preview in browser' option it happens.

Can you try out one thing. We suspect this issue is caused because of the anti-scaling which we apply.
Just try to disable anti scaling.Follow the steps below :
This scale factor can be changed from:
1. Close Animate
2. Open the preference folder:
a. Windows: C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Edge Animate\4.0.0\
b. Mac: /Users/{username}/Library/Prefrences/Adobe/EdgeAnimate/4.0.0/
3. Open the AppPrefs.xml file in a text editor.
4. Search for the Current line in AppPrefs.xml:
<key>SvgAntiScaleFactor</key>
<float>10</float>
Update this to:
<key>SvgAntiScaleFactor</key>
<float>1</float>
5. Launch Animate.
However note: This setting will work only for new animate content that you create after this setting is applied - i.e it will work only for newly pasted SVG’s in a new composition.
Exiting Animate compositions opened after applying the setting(Step 5 above) will still show the same problem. You will need to delete the SVG and copy-paste again.

DPS and Edge - animation plays before page loads

Hi-
I have had a continuing challenge with animations created in Edge and placed into an Adobe DPS document. Short animations that are intended to play when the viewer gets to the page (onload) are already finished playing when the page is viewed. Other CSS3 and jquery based animations load as expected only when the page is navigated to and "in view".
I was excited for the latest Edge release and CS6 hoping that this issue had been resolved, but it is still happening for me.
Has this been resolved? Using an event handler or not checking "Autoplay" and requiring user interaction to initiate the animation are not the effect I want.
Did you find a resolution to this?

I don't recall mentioning onLoad, but since you mention it...
Edge triggers auto-play animations off the onLoad event right now. In DPS publications the correct event to trigger on is onAppear. We're working with the Edge team to make sure that when you publish for DPS the auto-play animations look for the right event.

Multiple animations on one page scale incorrectly

Tried to find an answer but I can only see that having multiple edge animations on one page is troublesome so far. However I've managed to get them working but there's one problem with scaling it responsively:

The idea is having two tabs and in each there's an animation so once I press a button - corresponding tab with animation inside is shown and another one becomes hidden.
But in 2014.1 version second animation always looks small till I resize browser viewport! After resizing browser width even by 1px - animation fits to the frame nicely. But then it breaks the first animation so once I get back to it - it behaves in a similar broken way.
How can I make them both actually fit to their parent divs once loaded?
What makes animations appear in such a size, I'm not sure I've specified anything like this in animations or site css.

After some more research, my problem is slightly different from the original post. I'm using setTimeout to stagger the load times of multiple compositions. I'm using bScaleToParent: true to resize the individual compositions within their divs. HOWEVER, if a div's display is hidden when the edge comp is loaded, the composition defaults to the minWidth as set in Edge Animate, and only resizes when the viewport is resized.
I'm working around this by setting the opacity of the hidden divs to 0 instead of the display to none.... but it is NOT ideal.

Issue with multiple Edge animations in the same article. Please help!

We have 3 edge animations in our 3 page article, one in eache page. The first edge animation you view autoplays great, however when you swipe down or up the other animations just wont play. All of them set to autoplay 0.125 with transparent background. It seems that no matter which one you see first, it kills the other two. We tried importing HTML and DPS from Edge with the same results.

I just did a quick test and experienced mixed results. I placed a single edge animation on the first page of a horizontal article, then placed the same edge animation on three pages of the vertical orientation (dual-orientation folio). The edge animation shows up perfectly on the horizontal layout, but only displays on pages 1 and 3 of the vertical orientation. It does not load on page 2.
I also placed an additional Web Content Overlay on page two connecting to a website which loads fine. The edge animation shows the spinning/loading icon but nothing loads.
Sorry, not much help here just sharing similar bugs.

Edge Animation Not Seen in Dreamweaver

This is a follow up from yesterday's post.
I had to put up the old home page while I work this out.

I've followed the Adobe directions as best I could as to what code snippets to include, but I still don't see the Edge animation on the page when I upload it. I do see it when I preview in browser within Dreamweaver. What am I doing wrong?
Also, now the rollover images aren't showing up on the top navigation. Can an Edge file somehow screw up the images on a page?

First, can you tell me the file structure of your site?
Example:
/     root
/rolllovers          images
/css                    css files
/edge_includes     edge files
/images               images
/pages                 HTML pages
etc...
I'm asking for a couple of reasons:
1. having a rollovers folder instead of/outside of an images folder.
2. To see if you have all the Edge folders in their correct place.
Edge, by default, uses an image folder to find the images it needs. Unless you change this (possible but a pain) you should have an images folder.
It seems a bit strange to have a folder called "rollovers" and not within an image folder (nothing wrong with it, just a bit different). Make sure this folder still exists and that the nav images are in there.
Edge would not have done anything with your other images. In fact, all the other images appear to be working on the other pages of your website, with images (no nav though).
One last thing - You have the Edge animation embedded in an objects tag, not a div tag. Try changing that and see if it helps :-)

Reloading edge animations?

I have several edge animations inside a MSO (one for each state of the MSO) and some navigation buttons to move between states.
The animations only play the first time a new state is reached, I need to know how to make them play each time the user revisit a state of the MSO, thanks

I can't see your stars animation in the last slide on IE11 (Windows 7 x64) (but works fine with Chrome, Firefox, Opera...).
I'm pretty sure if you publish as "web" and not as .OAM file (from Edge Animate CC 2.0.1), copy the files on your FTP and include it in Muse in HTML code (as an iframe), your website will work with IE11 !
Try it.
It seems to be a problem with .OAM exporting from Edge or with .OAM importing to Muse ! Only on IE11...
But it's not very handy to include an Edge animation as web page into Muse (no preview, manually replace the files in the FTP from Edge, etc.) so, please give us a fix.

Why won't my adobe edge animations play from the start each time they are loaded on an Adobe DPS layout?

I have an adobe DPS document with several pages, and edge animations on each page. I want each animation to play from the start when each page is opened, however, the playback seems to be very inconsistent. Some animations play from the start, others half way through, and some playback incorrectly. I want to also be able to return to each page and have the animations reload, instead of just displaying the final frame of the animation.
I have played around with the delay time which doesnt seem to fix it.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Another user had the same problem and came up with this workaround:
With regards to using it in DPS, it's not an ideal solution but I imported it as a web overlay rather than an html article and made it smaller than full page so there is a border around the edge on which the user can swipe to turn the page and tap to see menu options.

Trigger Edge Animation on page load

I am using multiple Edge Animations in a DPS document I am creating. When I open the book, all of the animation begin to play at the same time.
Is there a way to trigger the animation to start when the user turns to the page the animation is on?

I'm trying to accomplish the same with recent versions of indesign and edge CC, but I'm not having sucess with autoplay and .125 delay.
Is there a work around for CC?
