Edge displayed instead of EDGE

Hi, i've had my blackberry 8330 for quite some time now and I never understood why it always showed an "edge" instead of "EDGE" like it's supposed to.
I have the internet service activated; I can use the browser and use programs that require internet use. but could never active BBM or the provided instant messaging programs that came with my blackberry.
according to certain people, i'm not even supposed to be able to use my browser with the lowercase "edge" displayed.
So my problem here is that instead of "EDGE" i have "edge" displayed and i have certain internet capabilities but not all such as the use of BBM. I was wondering if anyone can help me with this before i start sending colorful emails to my service provider.

Note: i have tried http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB02623 and it has not helped me in the slightest bit.
Under "Services Status" it says "BlackBerry Internet Service: not connected and BlackBerry Enterprise Server: not connected"
and yet i still have limited internet functions. interesting.

First -- Thank You for the detailed post including what you've already tried. You'd be amazed at the number of posts that start with "I've already tried everything" but fail to spell out what "everything" means, and we wind up giving advice on things that they've already tried (a waste of everyone's time). Thanks!!
It seems that you've tried almost everything...but please try this next (yes, I know that step 1 is redundant):
1) Register HRT
Homescreen > Options > Advanced Options > Host Routing Table > BBKey (it does not matter which line is current) > Register Now
2) Resend Service Books
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
3) Batt Pull Reboot
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
If that fails to cure it, then you are most likely at Cause 2 of KB02623, which indeed requires contacting your carrier. With just lower case, you BB is "seeing" their network, but is not able to attach to it, which is therefore preventing you from accessing any services (including BIS and BBM) that ride that network.

    Can I trick my device and use EDGE instead of edge without data plan (i got all needed service books) so I can use wifi for blackberry services such as facebook, twitter and internet browsing (no BBM, e-mail or MIS). I used to do that when I had no credit and the service was temporarily stopped I could use wifi for those services as it displayed EDGE but it only stop this way when I have no credit but when I have credit it stops to be edge.

    to get EDGE you must have the full BlackBerry Data Plan on your mobile provider SIM account.
    Otherwise, you will only get "edge".

  • Got charged full retail for a new phone instead of Edge Up, wiped out bank account, had to refuse shipment, no compensation for the time spent talking to 14  representatives over the phone in the last week, and still no refund??

    On 9/29 I ordered an iPhone 6 Plus 128GB as an edge up from my 5S, swiped my card at the store to pay the Edge Up fee, and was told 10/31 was the expected ship date.
    Didn't see the order on my My Verizon account, spoke with 3 representatives on the phone to actually get the order number so I could track it.
    On 10/24 the ship date disappeared and I called to find out there was an issue with the payment. I gave them my debit card number over the phone for the Edge Up amount, and they charged me full retail -- OVER $1,000.
    They promised it wouldn't post to my account and it wouldn't ship after cancelling the order. Next day it shipped. I called FedEx and refused the package over the phone.
    I called when the payment posted the next day, totally wiping out my bank account and charging me overdraft fees.
    They said they'd push for a refund immediately -- on Sunday, 10/24. It's now 10/30, I see no refund, I have no phone, and I have over $100 in bank fees from their mistake.
    I spoke with a supervisor on the phone and they said they could refund the bank fees, but would do nothing for the fact that they screwed up my order, and told me it would be another 2-3 weeks before they actually ship a phone to me if I ordered today.
    Sorry, but that's NOT good customer service. I can buy out my Edge agreement, sell the phone on eBay, and go to another carrier pretty easily. I don't want to leave Verizon's service, but I don't really see how they value me as a customer?
    Does anyone else have some idea of what I could do about this whole thing??
    TL;DR -- Verizon charged full retail for a phone instead of Edge Up fee, still no refund, no compensation for the inconvenience and stress they caused, and another 2-3 week wait on a phone I ordered a month ago.

    That situation went from inconvenient to complicated quickly.  Wait for any pending orders to drop off, wait for things to clear up, wait till your upgrade comes up and then upgrade when your contract is fulfilled.  I would have suggested a replacement phone, I know, with only a month left why couldn't you just upgrade early, but these situations where people try to upgrade early always end horribly and once a phone order starts, it almost cannot finish until something winds up shipped received and returned.  Sorry this happened the way it did.  Definitely not efficient.

    I really do not believe that many forum members have this brand new notebook and you will be very lucky if someone can offer some assistance. Have you already checked userss manuals? Maybe you can find there explanation how it works with small Toshiba's organic light emitting diode (OLED) "Edge Display".
    I just know that this small display shows email and calendar notifications, and must be synchronized with your email client. It will even continue to update when the unit is in sleep mode

    I feel that that's a typo.  It doesn't agree with other Lync 2013 TechNet documents such as
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg425891.aspxwhich specify these ports should be opened to/from the Edge Server A/V Edge service interface.
    Alternatively, inbound UDP/3478 should be destined to the A/V edge.  You can see in the first column, that they correctly identify the A/V role, but the typo is in the IP address that it should be sent to.  Someone got excited with cut and paste.
    I believe you're right to question it.

  • Backlight bleed on Edge 15 (not ThinkPad Edge 15)

    Hello,
    I just bought an Edge 15 and I'm wondering if backlight bleed is a common problem with it. There are several places around the edge of the display where the backlight discolors the screen. I've attached a picture; note the top edge of the screen especially.
    Is this normal, or is it worth looking into a repair?
    Also, I'm surprised that this model does not appear on Lenovo's website at all. I have only found one review for it, and it seems Best Buy was the only one to sell it. Anyone know about that?
    EDIT: Apparently my thread was moved to the ThinkPad Edge forum, though I'm pretty sure that this is not a ThinkPad Edge series device (as far as I can tell that series was discontinued and this was not ThinkPad branded). If someone could clarify that would be awesome.

    Camera icon displays instead of Trash-Can upon selecting a message in the conversation and clicking on 'Copy/Speak/More...'
    After restart, now it shows Trash-Can again.

    Many were saying that you just needed to turn your phone off and turn it back on after upgrading to ios8.1, so that you could then delete single messages.
    It worked when I did it the first time, but today while sending text messages the trash can disappeared while I was trying to delete some messages.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Define 0010 as default for IR.

    I've added some slides from different folios to favorites. When I navigate to the favorites list and tap on any item - the first slide of an article is displayed, but not the slide that was added to favorites.

    We are trying to setup Lync 2013 Edge Server, we have a setup as described below
    Real IPs for Lync Edge/WebConf/AV
    NAT of real IPs through Firewall Juniper to FE IP
    Topology with NAT (Firewall IP) IP enabled
    Certificates for with SAN for sip.acme.com etc (Both certs are Client Server Auth Templates from Internal MS CA)(Trusted) on Edge

    Looks like there is some problem in the masthead par. Check the code of it. If you don't have the par with you, download it from system admin->support->portal runtime->browse deployment.

  • Who'sWho Off Phone number is been displayed instead of Offi email ID

    Hi Experts,
    Few users of our portal are facing the below issue in standard Who'sWho application.
    Users search for their name and the application displays it.
    But there is some data inconsistency as the Official Phone number is been displayed instead of Official email ID.
    At the back end the data is maintained properly.
    When the official phone number is not maintained at R/3 the application displays the email id correct.
    But once the official phone number is update the system picks the phone number as email id.
    Why does it happen only with selected users ?
    how can i solve this ?

    I found out that there is no RFC which is called instead there is standard infoset query which is fired.
    The name of the query is "/SAPQUERY/HR_ESS"
    how shall I debug this query please help as I have not worked on it before.
    The problem is not seen in quality portal.
    Is it possible to create a request for the standard query and send it.

    I think what may be your main issue here is that the 2011
    server has the Intel integrated HD3000 and is is struggling
    to run both a Thuderbolt display and a second monitor.
    When looking at specs for Thunderbolt Display, it is stated
    that the 2011 Mini Server can only support one.  Adding that
    Dell monitor with 1920x1200 display may just be too many
    pixels for the HD3000 to handle.
    You may want to try setting the Dell to a lower resolution
    to test the theory to see what happens.  It is however,
    possible that any additional monitor when using the Thunderbolt
    display may over tax the HD3000 graphics.
    FWIW personally, I have been running a 2011 Mini Server w/ Thunderbolt
    display for almost a year now without any issues.  However, I don't
    use a second monitor.
