Edge Inspect - Hosting providers blocking access?

Hostgator is my hosting provider, and it seems that they are blocking access to my site URLs when I use Adobe Edge Inspect on multiple devices. Is it possible that they are detecting this access from multiple devices to same URL at the same time from the same IP as an attack? One device will load the page, then the rest will be blocked.
Adobe - please work with major hosting providers to ensure there are exceptions given for the Adobe Edge Inspect usage scenarios, otherwise it severely reduces the value of the product.

We haven't heard of anything like this before. Some questions:
How many devices are you using when this happens?
Is it always the same device that successfully reaches the site, or does it vary from one to another?
What's the error you see on the devices when they can't reach your site? Can you post a screenshot of it?
We don't have any special access to Hostgator and don't know any of your account details. Can you try checking with them so they can check the logs for your account and confirm that's what the issue is? If you can confirm with them and provide a contact number we'd be happy to try and work out a solution with them to avoid this issue.
Thanks,
Mark

  • Edge Inspect works great except localhost pages being blocked by firewall

    Hi,
I switch the Windows 7 firewall off and the localhost pages show up on the Edge Inspect app on the iphone4, so then I tried to re-configure the firewall, namely allow Edge Inspect, Bonjour, and Mobile Device related rules all allowed, but the localhost pages are still being blocked.
Any help with how to re-configure the Windows firewall for much more Edge Inspecting would be appreciated!
    Kind Regards,
    Andy

    Hi saumishr,
I have placed the following rules both inbound and outbound to allow both Edge Inspect and Bonjour to use 7682 for all domains using the TCP protocol. (Is that the correct protocol?)
After applying these rules though the firewall still blocks Edge Inspect.
    I appreaciate your help. Thankyou

  • How can I access Edge Inspect from my Creative Cloud account?

In the Edge FAQ it is stated, that all Edge apps are available for free (with certain restrictions). It is also said that those free versions are not limited to a certain timeframe, but I need a free Creative Cloud subscription to access them.
Edge Inspect doesn't appear in my apps tab though. And I cannot activate a free Creative Cloud subscription either, because that is limited to 30 days.
My question is, if I can use the free version of Edge Inspect. If yes, how? If no, why is there a free version that no one can use for free, only evaluate for 30 days?

Does you computer meet the Tech Specs for Adobe Edge Inspect http://html.adobe.com/edge/inspect/tech-specs.html?

  • Edge inspect not working on VMware hosted iis sites.

I use a Mac, and run Windows 7 on VMware Fusion (latest). I'm running a website in iis from .net 2010. Everything runs fine and displays in every browser.
Even when I'm in Chrome/Safari on the Mac, I can view the site by going to the Windows IP address. However, when I'm running Edge Inspect it doesn't display the iis hosted site. It shows everything else.
Does edge inspect support tunnelling through to a virtual host on a virtual machine?
    Hope this makes sense.

    Hi Mark,
This is a scenario I don't think we've ever specfically tested. We know we can get to locally hosted web pages with Edge Inspect and we know we can also get to virtual host sites as well if you make use of xip.io or Charles Proxy
    http://blogs.adobe.com/edgeinspect/2012/06/19/shadow-xip-io-virtual-hosts-workflow-simplif ied/
    http://blogs.adobe.com/edgeinspect/2012/05/16/shadow-charles-proxy-virtual-hosts-workflow/
You don't quite explicitly say it, but I'm guessing you've tried using the IP address in Chrome and Edge Inspect can't get to that, correct? Could you give xip.io a shot and see if that helps at all?
Meanwhile I'll try checking with the team to see if anyone knows whether or not we can support your scenario.

  • "Your username and password are incorrect or your account does not have access to Edge Inspect CC"

When I start the Windows App, I get this alert and Edge Inspect CCcloses itself  (on Windows 8.1, 64 Bit). But my Creative Cloud App is working fine and is logged in correctly.
Is there someone, who knows a solution? How can I check, which account details edge inspect is using?!

Can you drop me an email with your Adobe ID (the email you use to log in). I'll check on it for you - [email protected]
(And I just need the email address, NOT the password )

  • Is there a local install version of Edge Inspect?

I work in a corporate environment that blocks access Adobe CC. We have the Adobe Master Suite CS6. Can I still get a local installation version of Edge Inspect?

Can you explain what you mean by "Adobe CC is not available in my work environment"?
If you can reach this web page https://creative.adobe.com/products/inspect you should be able to download and install Edge Inspect. That's the only place it's available for download, and it only requires that you have an Adobe ID, which you do since you can post on the forums here.
Are you unable to reach our weinre server, or can you explain specifically doesn't work for you?
    Thanks,

  • Does Edge Inspect share desktop's internet connection (eg, VPN) or just the same WIFI network?

I ask because on my work VPN all our testing sites are behind the firewall, and so curious if my android device running the Edge Inspect viewer would also share that VPN connection or if the desktop just basically points the device to a regular URL? The device does not have native VPN access.
I'm unable to test this because our company blocks all Chrome extensions, and before I go through a lengthy process to unblock this particular extension I just want to see if it would work as I described.
    Thank you!

    Dear TMVH ,
I've encountered the same problem caused by VPN...
Have you solved it? Any solution for this problem?

  • Localhost issue with Adobe Edge Inspect on iPhone

I'm synching up multiple devices to use Adobe Edge Inspect.
    I downloaded and installed:
    Chrome extension.
Adobe Edge Inspect on Android (on a Samsung Galaxy Tablet)
Adobe Edge Inspect on iPhone 4
    I am using a Windows 64bit OS.
When I inspect online websites, both the tablet and iPhone synch.
I have a local instance of Tomcat.
I have a very simple index.html (Hello World in it).
When I use in my chrome browser localhost:8080 my Android tablet is synched
The iPhone does not synch, and I get a request timeout.
I also attempted using the IP Address instead of localhost with the same result.
The iPhone is synching with sites that I access that are hosted on the web.
How can I get it to synch using Tomcat so that I can use my localhost instance?
    Thanks

This is pretty strange. I think you should try making sure Windows Firewall and any other firewall or virus protection software is off and try again to see if you get a different result with your local apache server.
Let us know if that helps. If not we'll see if we can come up with any other ideas.

  • Is there a way to pass through a login using Edge Inspect?

This basicly falls under anything that would require a un/pw to access. Is there a workaround?

Check out #6 in this document: http://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-2493
"HTTP Authentication support — Browse to URLs that require HTTP authentication, and see the login/password form on Edge Inspect devices. If your URL contains the login id/password, Edge Inspect devices will authenticate without the form. (e.g., using a URL like: http://login:[email protected])"
    Hope this helps,

  • Cannot connect to Mac 10.8.4 with Edge Inspect

I have Edge Inspect CC installed on my Computer, in Chrome and on my iPHone.  I am signed in to Inspect according to the icon in the menu bar. My phone can see my Computer but cannot connect using the IP address. The Chrome Extension however says to "please start Edge Inspect"  and I am not seeing the Edge icon in the Dock.  So I think the thing is not activating... I seem to have the latest CC install, but I don't see a way to uninstall with the app manager and resinstall...
BTW,  I don't know how or which type of port to open or find out if access is available on in Airport. I'm on a local network. The computer is connected by ethernet to the router, the phone is connected via WiFi to the network, and I've turned of NetBarrier... .

Netstat does not show anyone trying to use that port.

  • Adobe Edge Inspect Port Configuration

    Hello,
New to this application.  I work for a development company that uses server and firewall network securities.  It is only possible to open up port number "7682" and point it to one client workstation at a time.  There are roughly 12 developers that would need to be able to access this application and its features.  So, from a firewall perspective, this will not work without being able to configure the port numbers for each individual workstation's installation of Edge Inspector.
Does anybody know if it is possible to configure the port used by Edge Inspector and to change the port number on a workstation by workstation basis?
    Thanks.

    Hi Mitch,
Unfortunately it's not possible currently to configure the port number in Edge Inspect. It can only run on port 7682.

  • Edge Inspect not working for domain.dev URL's running locally on my laptop, displays error message.

    "An error occured
    Web page not availiable".
This, printed on a white screen, on my iphone5 (OSX and iOS all running latest updates, latest Adobe Edge Inspect, freshly downloaded) is all I see when I try to visit any of the sites I run on my laptop with Apache.
I set up my domains as "http://foobar.dev"  (where '.dev' is the TLD on my localhost for things ... local).
I can view any public internet sites, and they will show up on Edge Inspect on my phone, with no problem.
I've tested this with turning off the firewall on my computer... (but I'm surprised thats how edge works, but what ever).
    Any guides? tricks? help?
    Thanks.

Edge Inspect doesn't do anything different to read the website off your computer than a normal browser does. We send a URL to the connected devices and expect them to be able to load that address into the WebView/UIWebView components in the Edge Inspect app on the devices. The reason you're seeing an issue with Edge Inspect and your http://foobar.dev site is the same reason why you wouldn't/shouldn't expect to type that URL into a browser on another machine and be able to view the website... there's no external DNS server to talk to that knows where that address is actually located.
So, Edge Inspect might be doing less than you thought is was in those terms. The main focus of Edge Inspect really is:
    1. Managing the connection from your computer to multiple connected devices
    2. Translating localhost, 127.0.0.1, and <machinename>.local urls
    3. Keeping multiple devices in sync
    4. Simplifying things like cache clearing and screenshots on all your devices
    5. Providing a simple interface into weinre for remote inspection
Definitely read more on xip.io. It's a public website, yes. We don't have anything to do with it, but it does provide a nice workflow for using virtual hosts with Edge Inspect.

  • Problems downloading edge inspect

I have downloaded adobe edge inspect cc on my computer and the creative cloud says it is up to date and the icon is on my toolbar and it says it is open but does nothing. When I try to connect the adobe edge inspect plug in I get the message: cdnewhire 1, waiting for a connection. I want to view my captivate projects in inspect but for some reason edge inpect is just not working.

    Hi,
Did you install all the application components required? Please follow these steps to get it up and running.
Make sure your computer and devices are all on the same wireless network.
Start the Creative Cloud desktop app and login with Adobe ID.
Ensure that port 7682 is not blocked by any other application e.g. firewall etc.
Start the Edge Inspect application on your computer. Click on the Inspect icon and check whether your Adobe ID is displayed in the menu. Also, start the Edge Inspect apps on each of your devices.
Let the devices discover the computer via Bonjour, or manually connect them by entering the IP address.
Enter the passcode for each device in the Edge Inspect Chrome extension to perform a one-time pairing process, then begin previewing and inspecting.
For details you can refer to this document: http://www.adobe.com/inspire/2012/12/web-designs-edge-inspect.html
Please let me know in case you need more information. I will be happy to help.

  • Edge Inspect - IIS local domains issue

    Hi,
I am a Windows 7 user and I'm currently checking if Adobe Edge Inspect is a tool we can use at our company.
We run .NET projects and use IIS for local domains.
When we use Edge Inspect on mobile devices the websites won't show.
The domains are listed in the hosts file, for example: 127.0.0.1   2012.companyname.local
I saw the posts about xip.io and charles proxy but all the info in these discussions is Mac OSX based.
Is there any support for Win users?
    gr,
    Peter

I work on a Windows machine and have successfully used both Charles Proxy and xip.io to reach local domains defined in my hosts file. I use WAMP server though, so the difference for you might be IIS.
You've seen our blog posts on this topic?
    http://blogs.adobe.com/edgeinspect/2012/06/19/shadow-xip-io-virtual-hosts-workflow-simplif ied/
    http://blogs.adobe.com/edgeinspect/2012/05/16/shadow-charles-proxy-virtual-hosts-workflow/
I think those instructions work for both Mac and Win.
Can you tell me what the full URL you're putting into Chrome is?
Can your devices reach your pages by using your machine's IP address (shown at the top of the Chrome extension dialog) instead of the local domain?

I get the following error message when starting Edge Inspect: Your username and password are incorrect or your account does not have access to Edge Inspect CC

If you're not on an enterprise account that has explicitly disabled access, try logging out of the Creative Cloud desktop application, quitting the Edge Inspect desktop application, relogging into the Creative Cloud desktop application and then opening Edge Inspect again.
