Edge-on lines

I'm doing a tutorial, trying to learn Motion 4. I've advanced to 3D and "cameras" but I'm having a little (hopefully little) problem. In the tutorial, when looking at top and side views there is what's called an "edge-on line" that indicates the location of flat objects when viewed edgewise. I don't seem to have edge-on lines.
When I choose either of my two layers (background video or text), I get handles and a bounding box but when neither is chosen, I get nothing. I can't find any settings, the Motion manual doesn't give me any clues and the tutorial is no help.
Can anyone help?
TIA,
Peter

I have two displays, one set at 2569 x 1440 and the other 1920 x 1200.
The tutorial is the "Creative Cow Master Series - Stephen Smith's Moving WIth Motion: A Professional's Guide." The tutorial is specifically for Motion 4. The tutorial is not controlling my computer in any way. It's just a DVD with teaching projects and examples.
In this specific instance the tutorial called for placing two elements on the screen; a piece of video and some text. The entire project is in 3D mode. The text is offset from the video by 150 in the Z-Axis. If I look at the two elements in the perspective view I can indeed see both the video at Zero on the Z-Axis and the text at 150 on the Z-Axis. When I move to the top, bottom, left or right views, those elements disappear. The Apple Motion Manual tells me that when I move to the top, bottom, left or right views that I will see what they call edge-on lines. The manual states that edge-on lines are added by Motion to indicate the positions of screen elements that, technically have no width and would therefore be invisible when viewed edge-on. My problem is, +I don't have edge-on lines+ and I don't understand why. My screen elements are indeed invisible in the top, bottom, left or right views.
Do you or +does anybody else get edge-on lines+ in similar circumstances? If you have a some video and some text and you move to the top, bottom, left or right views, do you see those elements or do they disappear in all but the perspective view?

What is the deep dive difference between the service edge optimized cards and the packet transport line cards in the ASR 9000?
I know that QoS is the difference in general, for example, the service edge optimized has advanced QoS features while the Packet Transport line cards has basic QoS features but I want to know some more details please.

  • On the EDGE of leaving Verizon!

I have had my phone service with Verizon for 6 or 7 years now, and the last couple of years have been nothing but trouble. I received a flyer in the mail 3 days ago about the Edge Single Line Plan http://www.verizonwireless.com/wcms/consumer/shop/shop-data-plans/single-line-data-plans.html. First I called Verizon to make sure I understood the plan and to make sure I was eligible to change to this plan. The person I spoke to was very informative and very nice. She answered all of my questions, and I had a lot of them. I felt like I had all the answers I needed, but yesterday I did an online chat just to verify a couple of things. This plan was going to make my bill go down. I get a cheaper plan and a new phone for less than I was paying. So, I decided to go to the Verizon store yesterday after work to look at the phone. I wanted to make sure I really wanted that phone. Please keep in mind, I had all of my facts in order, I knew what I wanted and I knew how much it should be. I had to wait about 20 minutes until someone helped me. When the lady came up to me and asked how she could help me, I told her I wanted to change my plan and what phone I wanted. When we were going over the plan, she was trying to put me back on the More Everything Plan, I kept telling her that was not the correct plan and she kept telling me that was the only plan they had for the Edge Program. I told her I had already talked to two different Verizon people about it, the attitude came out in her at that point. I said, just forget it, change it back to my old phone. She looks at another guy that works there and he said, No we don't have that plan anymore, it ended in February. Again I said, I spoke to someone yesterday about this and today before I came into the store. He just kept saying, No we don't have that plan anymore. If I had not known what I was talking about and verified everything before I went in, I would have been screwed and called a liar! I cannot even begin to put in words exactly how offended I am. Not only that, but the sales girl gathered up a bunch of stuff just assuming I would buy it. I did because I felt pressured into it. I hate going into the store, there is no customer service anymore! They are just trying to see what they can get out of you. I have 14 more days before I can't take this phone back, I am seriously thinking about jumping off this ship and going with another company! As many things as I have read in here, you would think Verizon would get a clue! The manager of that store should be told, but there is NO way I am going back in there unless it is to take this phone back.

No one knows but store stock versus online stock are two different things. It's not something to be angry about if stores get a certain allotment. It wouldn't be fair to those that choose to shop in store not to have an opportunity to get what they want just because online depleted their stock. If you can go to a store (and you aren't sure you plan on switching providers) and see if they have the one you want. If so you can cancel your current pre-order (as long as it hasn't shipped yet or generated a shipping label) and then purchase that device in store. Not idea as you probably wanted to avoid the store but if waiting isn't an option for you then this is something you can try.

  • Can you have both the Edge discount and employer discount?

I wanted to ask to make sure, because I can't tell based on how it's listed on my plan on the website (I think the Edge per line discount is only listed on the monthly bill).  But once I instate an employer discount, will the Edge $25 discount per line remain on my plan?  I know the employer discount is only on the 10gb shared data part of the plan, so I'm hoping the $40-25=$15 per line access will remain.

Hi freediverdude - We are dedicated to offering you the best value for your wireless service! I can confirm that the employee discount can be combine with the Edge discount. Please let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns.

  • How do I make a ragged or "distressed" line?

I want to make lines which look like some of the pixels have been erased, especially along the edges (as opposed to a smooth edged solid line.)
It seems that a brush would do it, but although I have been through all the original installed brushes, and downloaded dozens of "grunge" brushes, I just can't seem to get the effect I want, although I see it often in work I know has been done in Photoshop.
    Any suggestions please.

Would You mind posting an example?
One way would be to paint with a soft Brush on a Layer set to Blend Mode to Dissolve.
Another would be to apply the Filter – Distort – Displace with a Displacement Map with the R- and G-Channels treated with Add Noise separately.
Or You could create a custom Brush with a brush-tip consisting of a couple of points, set to a high Size and Angle Jitter and fairly high Scatter-settings.

  • USB Camera Flicker, and Showing Edge Finder Results

Attached are 3 files.  The vi (simple.vi), the variable library and the project file.  Hopefully it reassembles easily.
One issue I am having is that the image 'flickers', and it seems to be creating havoc with the vision tools.  What is also strange is that every once and a while, it seems a 'raw' image (meaning color) slips in, which may actually be the flicker problem.  I am using a USB camera to capture the video.
I thought of using a shift register, which helps a little, but the problem persists.  I have a feeling it is something dumb I am missing.
Also, I am trying to figure out how to get the 'Imaq Simple Edge' to show up on the screen, like the 'Imaq Find Edge' does.  I am assuming there is a Boolean somewhere I am missing.  I would like to use this to see if the edges are where they are supposed to be, as well as if the lines are drawn in the right place.  This is mainly for debugging purposes.  What I have been using in the interim is the Vision Assistant to see if the calculated values line up with where they should be.  It would be much nicer to have it in the VI.
In case you are curious, what I am trying to do is find 4 discs on any of 3 pins.  The camera and target are not locked together, so I am using the top, bottom and left edges to locate the base, then calculate where the pins should be, then draw edge find lines to see if they are there.  Ultimately the logic (not included yet) will allow me to determine which disc is where.
I tried pattern matching, but this setup is too 'random' for it in testing.  The basic vision setup in this vi seems to work, and is similar to what I have used in industrial applications in the past.
    Thanks for any help.

    Thank you for the feedback.
I tried the 'Snapshot' option, and the graphic overlays disappeared.  Ultimately, this doesn't matter, but while I am still tinkering, it is useful to have it displayed.
What seems to have fixed it, is I removed the shift-register, and got rid of the Imaq Cast.  Instead, I am using the 'IMAQ Create' to make the grayscale image.  This has gotten rid of the twitch, as far as I can tell, allows the overlay, but the image displayed is color (not a big deal).  Attached is the updated VI/
I still can't figure out how to get the overlay for the Edge Detector lines.  Attached is a picture of what I would like to display with the edge finding lines (the little green squares).
I am assuming the Edge Detector is less processing intensive than the Find Straight Edge.  This is the reason I am using Edge Detectors to find the discs.  If this is incorrect, I can probably use the find Straight Edge to find the edge I am looking for.

  • Are the $60/1GB and $75/2GB smartphone single line plans eligible for the Military discount?

I noticed in the FAQ's for the single line plans that they are eligible for the EDGE discount. I just recently was able to get my Veteran status verified for my Military discount. FYI, DO NOT try to do the verification process online, it takes forever and three days! It only took thirty minutes in line at the retail location versus online, where I've been waiting for five days and it STILL is not verified!!! Anyways, while at the retail location I asked about their smartphone plans and I was quoted $75.00 for the single line plan at 2GB, but was also told that it was already discounted and thus was not eligible for my Military discount. If that is true then those plans should not be eligible for the EDGE discount either, but they are. So what is the correct answer?

Okay, so this is what I get out of all this.... The Military discount provides a 15% discount to monthly plans of $34.99 and above.  A 25% discount on accessories is also available. So I could get a Single Line Plan with 2GB of data for $75.00 a month OR I could get a More Everything Plan for one line ($40.00 Line Access Fee - 15% Military Discount = $34.00) with 2GB of shareable data ($50.00 - 15% Military Discount = $42.50) for $76.50? In other words, a person without a Military (or for that matter any other) discount can get the SAME service cheaper (especially with the EDGE Single Line rate being only $65.00) than I could, after having served this great country of ours. Let's not forget that the Single Line plans are NOT eligible for the Military Discount, but they ARE eligible for the EDGE discount... Well ain't that just swell. What a (removed) to those of us that served! Thanks for much of nothing Verizon!!
If I am wrong, please forgive me, but then again that is why I am posting this, for clarification. I can not understand for the life of me why Verizon would not allow the Military Discount for the Single Line Plans, since they DO allow for the EDGE discount. Come on...

  • Still haven't received 1GB on all lines upgraded

I recently upgraded 4 phones at the VerizonWireless store in our area, all now on Edge plan with 10GB data.  I had to have one phone shipped to my son at school.  For some reason, that phone wasn't given the Edge phone line rate, nor the 1GB promo data (I only see 13GB available - 3GB promo and 10 regular).
I called Customer Support.  The Rep corrected the billing error, and said the promo data would be added in a few day.  That was over a week ago.
I've tried the online chat, but no one ever connects.  It seems like the rep at the store messed things up, and Customer Support can't figure out how to correct it.
Wonder if Customer Support has an email address I can use to work with until this gets resolved.
    Thanks,
    GV

  • Scanned document has two lines horzonal on the left side of paper

    My Unit is
    HP Officejet 6210 All-in one
Only when i scan document it shows up with two lines on the left side of paper as it is scanned.
The first line 2inches from the edge the line is only 1/16 wide all the way cross the paper
The second line is 4 inches from the edge of paper and is 1/4 inch wide all the way cross the paper.
I have cleaned the glass and white backer of cover did not change.
I ran the Hp Print and scan doctor it recommend contact HP customer service.
The problem is not during normal
I have inspected the glass and small part of the feed cartiage. I did not know how to remove it to inspect better.
Can you tell me what is causing the line traces during scanning operation of my machine thank you

    Hi @JamesI
Do these horizontal lines appear when you copy too? I ask because copy and scan use the same hardware components, if the issue occurs when you copy too there is indeed an issue with the printer hardware. If the issue does not occur when you copy, the problem is isolated to the software.
In any case, it seems you have done all of the hardware troubleshooting; Horizontal Lines on a Copy/Scan. If you determine the issue is a software problem with scanning alone, let me know and we can go from there.
If it is a hardware issue, you can try a couple of things in addition to what you have already done, but if the issue continues, I suggest calling us.
Do you have the printer connected directly to a wall outlet or is it in a surge protector or power bar? Even if you have been using a surge protector/power bar all this time and you feel it is not the cause, please connect it to a wall outlet just so we can eliminate the power source as the root cause.   Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector
In this document you will see, ISSUE: Problems or issues may arise when an HP LaserJet series printer is connected to an uninterruptible power supply (UPS), a power strip, or a surge protector
^ This is not limited to Laserjet printers.
Let's perform a hard reset. To do so, leave the printer on and unplug the power cable for 1 minute. While it is unplugged, hold down the power button on the printer for 10-15 seconds to release any built up power, then after the minute has passed, plug the printer back in.
If the issue remains unresolved, and you are in Canada or US call 800 474 6836, or you can Contact HP Worldwide.

  • Open files window cuts off file name and features date

  • Export to PDF changing font size

    Hi,
I have gone through the posts on this topic and was wondering if anyone has a formula to predict what will happen to the text or what looks best in PDF?
I am using Arial 10,11 and 12 on some reports and Times New Roman 8, 9, 10 and 11 on others.
The worst effect is that all reports have a group of text boxes on the top right hand corner which have borders.
The reports are basically text documents so have lots of word wrapped text.  In CR these paragraphs are close to the right hand edge in line with the text boxes at the top.
In PDF the right hand edge of the paragraph moves in by 3-4cms.  Setting the paragraph to Justify rather than left Justify keeps it at the right, but has lots of white space which looks bad.
    regards
    ps

    Try with this:
    To resolve the behavior
Set the resolution of the default printer of the local computer experiencing the issue to 1200 DPI. Most printers have a default setting of 600 DPI.
Create two registry keys to prevent the crxf_pdf.dll from decreasing in font size.
Click Start > Run. Type "regedit". The Registry Editor appears.
Create the following keys for Crystal Reports XI with the defined values:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Business Objects\Suite 11.0\Crystal Reports\Export\PDF\ForceLargerFonts
    Type: DWORD
    Recognized Values: 0,1
    Default Value: 1
    Creation Method: manual
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Business Objects\Suite 11.0\Crystal Reports\Export\PDF\ForceLargerFonts
    Type: DWORD
    Recognized Values: 0,1
    Default Value: 1
    Creation Method: manual
Set both registry key values to 1 to turn them on.
Create the following keys for Crystal Reports XI Release 2 with the defined values:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Business Objects\Suite 11.5\Crystal Reports\Export\PDF\ForceLargerFonts
    Type: DWORD
    Recognized Values: 0,1
    Default Value: 1

    Type: DWORD
    Recognized Values: 0,1
    Default Value: 1
    Creation Method: manual
Set both registry key values to 1 to turn them on.
    Hope this helps!!

  • Change the thin white border in lights-out mode?

It'd be nice if you could get rid of this border, or change it to grey or something... I couldn't find any way to adjust this, nor (surprisingly) much mention of it in this forum. Anyway, I find the bright white quite distracting.

I've just started using Lightroom, and whilst in general I really love it, I wasted about an hour looking for the preference to get rid of this garish thick white line in lights out mode.
In principle, lights-out mode is a brilliant way to review a photo without the noise of the interface.
However, I didn't take a photo of an incandescent rectangle, so why is this what I see in lights out mode - especially with darker shots?
I'd be just as miffed if you lined the edge of my picture with little yellow plastic ducks.
It is actually more offputting than the user interface. In the normal view, pictures are shown with a subtle shadow on a neutral grey. Why not use this by default?
If we are not to be able to choose how the edge is treated in lights out mode, then surely it's best to do nothing. I.e. just show the picture, but it would be better still if you could both choose the background picture and even how the edge is distinguished. E.g. 'don't show edge', 'show edge with shadow', 'show edge with line whose colour is ->(pick)' etc.
The other thing which would be good is if, in 'lights out mode', the image actually covered the available screen, or at least there was an option to zoom it to make the best use of the pixels available.
I signed up to this forum just to put this message up. If anyone else out there is irritated by this line, please add a message. Surely this matters to other people too?
please please please please please! (Is this helping?)

  • Help - setting up a document for A4 printing

    Hi everyone,
I am very new to InDesign - using CS5.5. Trying to set up my first A4 document for printing. I an unsure of the printers settings but just want to check in the document - i need to have my background image right to edge of the bleed (3mm), and any text needs to be kept inside the magenta box - or can it go right out to the black line?
My image isn't quite big enough to go right to the top on the bleed line so i have used the same color rectanlge at the top . . . will this work? You can tell its a differnt image. Needs to go right to the edge of the page.
Is there any I need to do specifically to set this up to be printed ? Thanks for any ideas/suggestions/comments

Bleed is area outside the theoretical trim area of your page and it is used to compensate for misalignments during cutting. A typical bleed would be 1/8" or 3mm and any art or color that is intended to reach to the edge of the page after trimming should extend beyond the page edge (black line) by that amount. Set up the document at the trim size (in this case A4) and then press the more options button in the document setup dialog to reveal the Bleed and Slug fields. Enter the bleed amount and press OK and you'll see a new red guide outside the page boundary. Is this a facing apges document? How many pages? How will it be bound?
I'm guessing the Magenta box woould be the margin guides. These are set by you according to what you want, so there is no hard and fast rule for where they might be. Text and other critical content should always be set inside the page bound at least as much as the bleed allowance, however (and I prefer more), because if the cutting is off it will shift the trim outside the page area on one edge, but also inside the page by the same amount on the opposite edge and you don't want the text to be cut off or crowded at the edge.
If your photo is not large enough to extend into the bleed area you shoud either enlarge it, if that won't reduce the resolution too much, find another photo that is big enough, or redisign the page so the phot itself does not need to bleed. A transition form a photo to a colored background, no matter how similar, is nearly always visible.

  • I was told my new plan would be set at around $65.00. Why did my bill jump from $65.00 to $89.00?

I bought the phone with My Data set at 1GB, I was given a warning I was about to go over. I had to bump My Data to 2GB. I was told the plan would go to monthly charge of $65.00+, because I pay my bill and have been with VZW for years, I hope this $89.00 charge is for this month only.

Are you on an Single Line plan?
I can see you on a 1GB and adding 1GB for 500mbx2=$30 coming out to $60+$30=$90, but that doesn't include taxes, fees or insurance if any.
If you bumped to an even 2GB plan at $75 I can see $5 tax and fees plus insurance being ~$90.  You also had a $40 upgrade fee if on contract.
BUT, if you were on an Edge Single Line plan at $45 and add the cost of the phone ~$25 = $70+tax and etc....
OR, ESL at $60 + $25 for phone + tax is $90 dollars.
