Edge reflow kind of interface for dreamweaver

R we ever going to see adobe edge reflow or adobe muse kind of interface in dreamweaver?  Dreamweaver still by n large very code oriented.  When we r going to see more user friendly,  graphical interface similar to reflow or muse?

Hi
I have to agree html and css are not coding languages. As html is exactly what its name says, 'hyper-text-mark-up-language', and css is a style language, (which is not just for html).
As for javascript not being a coding language, back in the 1990's I may have agreed, but now it is recognised and used as a real coding language, and if you are using a computer, (which you obviously are) then quite a large amount of the code used to create the programs you are using is written in javascript. Lets also not forget that many of the interface elements you use in these programs are created using html.
You mention that you cannot set break-points or use other de-bug features for javascript in Dw. Have you checked out the latest version, (or even looked at the new features?) as de-bug is now possible.
As for me I do not consider Ruby-on-Rails, or Python real programming languages, but then again I started coding in machine code and assembly language back in the 60's, and I can still remember attempts by software developers to try and create a visual software development tool that created interface elements, styled them and built the programming code necessary via a visual interface. None of those software developers are still in existence, and all agreed that to create such a program that did everything necessary, and just as important correctly for the professional user, was simply not realistic.
I agree times change, and many Dw users want a more designer centric UI without the necessity to code, ( or use mark-up and styling correctly). But the limitations imposed by such a program would make Dw a tool for amateurs at best, or limit what is possible to such a degree that most professionals would stop using it.

  • Lost my Edge Reflow file when exporting for code editor

    Hello,
I just finished my project and exported the code. The code look nice, but I wanted to change something back in the Edge Reflow file and when I opened the file all I could see was a blank screen, no pages, no information, no nothing. The only thing I saw was that on the Asset Library all of the pictures I used were there, and an error on the 'talk to the team' button: Failed to load URL file:///C:/Program%20Files%20(x86)/Adobe/Adobe%20Edge%20Reflow%20CC%20Preview/www/reflow/ src/modules/extensionbar/view/templates/olark.html with error (-3)
Could somebody tell me what to do at this point?
    Thanks in advance!
    Marcela

I managed to figure this out through laborious guess and check. Just thought I would share the bug in case anyone else ever runs into it.
A third party library I was using wrote try catch statements wrong:
    try{
    catch(Error:*){
No idea why the original author did it like this, probably meant to write "error:*" and didn't release shift fast enough after the "(" but as you might suspect "Error" is a reserved object name to cannot be declared as a paramenter variable
    when replaced with:
    try{
    catch(error:Error){
the memory access bug went away. What is strange is that the incorrect try/catch statement works just fine when published to swf, air, or android and is only an issue with the iOS converter, and obviously produces a very cryptic error.
I was using CS5.5 so maybe this has been fixed (if not I would suggest making this a compile time error) but just thought I would post my findings.

  • Edge Reflow, Bootstrap and Bootswatch

I'd like to see Edge Reflow import/export capability for Twitter Bootstrap 3.0 and Bootswatch 3.0.
This feature would tremendously increase the productivity of designers and developers alike.
This would be a direct monetary incentive for the huge camp of Microsoft developers to embrace Adobe as their cherished tool vendor.
It's time for Microsoft and Adobe to cozy up :-).

I agree seems like Adobe is behind the poor curve with support for Bootstrap and Foundation frameworks both of these are very popular for development platforms for mock ups I have been looking for a really good WYSIWYG editor for either of these frameworks Dreamweaver has some plugins but the developer is asking crazy amount of money which from what I can tell just points to the namespace or css, js files.  If Adobe could create a application like Edge Reflow using these powerful frame works they would open themselves up to a huge market as people could create functional cross platforms applications I  and believe this is a growing market as more and more people are taking to social media and creating more content for social interactions.  An application like Edge Reflow that provided Responsive web development support for Bootstrap and Foundation would be a huge success I could imagine tools Edge Flow really taking center stage for beginners and intermediate developers.

  • How do i buy Edge Reflow

I already have Photoshop, through my CC account, and now looking into buying Edge Reflow.
I just can't figure out how much it costs, or even how to purchase.
All the links i follow, to purchase, take me to a plan overview, with products that i don't need, and no price for Edge Reflow.
    Any advice?

  • How to add links and rollovers from an exported Edge Reflow HTML in Dreamweaver?

    Hi,
Thanks to the very helpful community I have found the way to get my HTML file from Edge Reflow.
Upon opening the HTML file in Dreamweaver, the CSS, Java scripts are wonderfully linked. However, I am not experienced enought to manipulate the divs to get a rollover or add links to the layout.
Eg. Sticky Navigation bar on the top, how do you add rollovers and links?
All help is very much appreciated.
Thank you for your help in advance!

    Hi Chris,
your plan for Reflow sounds good. Versioning is probably the most adaptable way to integrate it with the rest of the workflow.
What I think is still missing, on the simple side, is link creation and management inside Reflow.
Of course, considering you have just introduced multiple pages, this feature shouldn't be far...
About Dreamweaver, I've been a faithful user for years but now it's definitely old for some uses.
Just to say, if I open the responsive page I just created in Reflow with DWCC in Live View, something basic as background gradients are completely missing. Well, I'm not going to use it for this kind of work.
Do you know for what DW is still a great tool? Email Newsletters, since they still have to respect old standards that no one else uses anymore.
For all the rest I definitely prefer the editor/IDE way: SublimeText and other tools.
They're faster, more apt to the task and, similarly to the Adobe Edge line of products, made with the same technologies they help to work with.
In the future, who knows... Maybe, you should put in development a "Dreamweaver Edge" version and drop the old one, a little clunky even if recently revarnished  ;-)

  • Is it possible to import dreamweaver files and muse files to edge reflow and vice versa?

Hi there are certain things that I can do using edge reflow such as making a mobile and tablet site.
There are certain things I can do with dreamweaver such as making a form with a drop down box.
And there are certain things I can do with muse such as inserting a google maps and paypal widget.
Is it possible to interchange files with these 3 software?

For Muse you can make a mobile/Tablet/Desktop version, it just won't be responsive. So you can't directly pull in HTML from Reflow as page structure. If it has to be responsive use Reflow or Dreamweaver.
Regarding sharing elements between the three you get the very vague answer of "are you good with code?"
As a general rule forget about doing anything with Muse files in any other piece of software. Where you have the cross-over is in the raw generated HTML.

  • I can't download the Adobe Edge Reflow. The file's downloading is successfull but the file doesn't go to my Creative Cloud so I can't install the programme. I have already install the Photoshop CC and the Reflow Plug-in for Photoshop. May I ask help? :) T

I can't download the Adobe Edge Reflow. The file's downloading is successfull but the file doesn't go to my Creative Cloud so I can't install the programme. I have already install the Photoshop CC and the Reflow Plug-in for Photoshop.

    Hello
    1. I am running on Windows 8.1
    2. When running the installer file from https://creative.adobe.com/products/download/reflow I get the following choice
I click "OK" which doesn't do anything for me (CC is off).
I turn CC on and run the installer again. I get the following window that within few settings disappears:
Then - just for half a second it says "Launching Creative Cloud desktop" and then it brings CC to front, and that's all.
    RF still not there.
    3. I spoke ta support agent on the Adobe chat on Friday. He looked into my computer for an hour. Uninstalled After Effects (after failing to update it). For some reason all apps disappeared from the list. They then reappeared after he opened PS.
This morning After Effects is still showing up in my system and is operational.
    Weird.
    4. At the end the agent suggested maybe Firewall is the problem here. Trying that out now.

  • Edge Reflow plug-in for Windows Photoshop CC not installing

I have the latest windows Photoshop CC and Edge Reflow CC versions running but when I try and install the PSD plug-in, I get a dialogue box that says Photoshop CC is not installed...any suggestions?

If you installed Reflow after you installed photoshop you might have the plugin installed already. The Reflow installer will automatically install the plugin for photoshop, but only if Photoshop is already installed. The stand alone plugin installer is for the case where you installed Reflow first and Photoshop later or if there was a problem and you just needed to reinstall the plugin.
You can look at this post to see if you have the plugin installed or if the steps there help you: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1292363
If you figure out what it is, can you post back here. We're looking into making the PS experience better. You can also reply to this post with your experience if you want: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1392173
Hope that helps and thanks for using Reflow!

  • Inconsistent font style behavior on Edge Reflow CC (Preview) for Windows

Adobe Edge Reflow CC Preview for Windows has wildly inconsistent behavior regarding font styles. Why is there no button for bold in the UI? Why do I have to type "bold" into the Weighting dialog text box to have my styled text render as such in Chrome? Why does text inside a box/div styled with the italics button render in Reflow but not in Chrome?

    Hey there,
The font weight can be changed here:
With CSS there are both text values such as "bold" and numerical values from 100-900 usually. We gave you the ability to use either.
If you are seeing issues with a font rendering set to italic in Reflow and not in previewing properly in Chrome, can you let me know the typeface you are using? I'd like to check it out as well.

  • Screen resolution to set up photoshop file for edge reflow

    hi :
i'm learning responsive design along with edge reflow. I'm designing a web site that works responsively for all devices. I'm starting with a psd layout.  I set up my photoshop at of 960x1136 currently.
my edge reflow breaking point for mobile is 768px currently. Perhaps i should modify my psd file to 768 width as well. but before i do that i have the following problem to resolve. When i view this on my iphone thru edge inpect. it's displaying a width of prob. 320 viewport width. which makes all the fonts and images look too big and of course the layouts are in disarray b/c there isn't a corresponding layout for that view port size.
i understand the difference btw viewport size and screen size. But   I'm confused re: the size to set up my photoshop file.
should i have set up my photoshop file based on "viewport " size rather than screen density?? (ie. 320x480 viewport for the smaller iphone rather than 640x960 which is the actual screen pixels) and create high res images separately for retina displays??
what i'd like to have is to have corresponding font sizes and box sizes btw the edge flow file and photoshop psd. so if pick 1.5 em font  in edge reflow, the same font in photoshop file is also 1.5 em. and perhaps saving images as smart object so the images can have higher resolution?
    please advice.
    thx
    grace

Maybe I'm wrong, but the best option would be to work with percentages, not pixels.
You can see examples in this Adobe links:

I hope it has been helpful

  • Is it planned to add feature for creating tables and lists in Adobe Edge Reflow?

First of all, thank you very much guys for all your work!
In my opinion Adobe Edge Reflow is missing quite important features, like creating tables and lists. For me it's a reason why I can't switch to Reflow. Any plans for implementing these? Is there any place where I can see the list of planned feature implementation? Didn't find it.

Missing tables is a big one for me too, especially when doing data-grids. My last prototype was using multiple responsive data-grids where I used the simpler essential/optional hide column approach, instead of stacking or scrolling the data. I had used Reflow in the past for basic content prototypes... but had to do this one by hand... took longer. Using divs for this did not collapse properly in all the browsers, plus the back-end team use widgets that only generate tables. Here is the example:

  • Edge Reflow vs Axure for Rapid Prototyping?

We are looking for the best solution for rapid prototyping from wireframe stage, ability to incorporate a solid base of interactions, and of course ability to be responsive. It also needs to be something easily sharable for the ability to quickly UAT designs at all stages of UI development. So far Axure has owned this market, with an extensive functionality capability. We have been demo'ing Edge Reflow CC for a couple months now, and have definitely felt some pain points in the swiftness of creating layouts, as well as limits in functions that can be emulated. We have been through the Lynda tutorials, and I think, if we're going to invest in Edge Reflow, I think we need a more advanced dive into complex functionalities within Reflow. Is this type of training material available somewhere? Is there material on how complex Reflow can get?
    Many Thanks for your attention!

i'm also interesting about this question: axure vs reflow for wireframing, mockup and prototyping.

  • Will Adobe make a product that is Adobe Muse combined with Adobe Edge Reflow?

I love how Adobe Muse works, its simple and very easy to learn. The only issue I have with the program is, the sites that I produce from Muse is not a fully responsive site. I was wondering if Adobe will allow us to set-up our own breakpoints in the future like Adobe Edge Reflow.

They work very differently, what i would like (and this section of the forum isn't meant for feature requests)
is when you create a new muse site it asks what kind of site you want:
    Responsive
    static
    blog
    etc.... that would be nice.
    or just make it responsive.
But i doubt this will happen soon

  • Edge Reflow... et al

So, have recently stumbled on the Edge workflow/solution/whatever... and am very confused!
    What exactly is this about?
    Is it:
    1. An alternative tool / application to DW?
    2. Just a design aid? In which case how does one export the code to DW for fine tuning?
    3. I gather it's based on 'Brackets'. In which case, how does it differ from the free downloadable Brackets at http://brackets.io/ ?
    4. Etc., etc., etc.
Grateful for any elucidation, explanation and elaboration...
    Cheers,
    S

    More for you -
How is Edge Reflow different from Adobe Muse or Dreamweaver?
Edge Reflow is a responsive design tool with a fluid grid layout UI with features to adapt design based on the properties of the viewing device. Muse has adopted the alternate design approach, which allows the primary layout to be manually adapted for other devices.
Dreamweaver is primarily a code editor, and the fluid grid layout feature is intended to provide developers with a way to generate publishable HTML code for their responsive design. Edge Reflow is a highly visual tool with features for designers to quickly ideate and mock-up different design comps for various devices and view their results on various targeted screens. Unlike Dreamweaver, Edge Reflow does not provide coding features so designers must extract generated CSS code for implementation and deployment.
