Edge server consuming more memory

Hi
We are using flash media server 3.0.1 to do online streaming for more than 1 year. Sometime (once in 2-3 months) edge server consumes more memory. It will be utilizing more than 80% of swap memory.
I am new to flash and unable to figure out, why this is happening.
FMS is running on unix box.
Please any body help me to know why this is happening.
Thanks in advance,
Bhaskar

Hello,
8 Gb is the strict minimum for solman itself, but your OS needs also at least 2Gb and maybe your DB is running on the same host and consume few Gb also...
Thus I would say the minimum RAM should be 12 Gb (8 for solman, 2 for Db 2 for OS)

in my servers one server is very slow i checked in all arear
but i didnot found any issues on my servers
    now i have one doubt
is their any problem in abapers coading
so i need to check how much memory it will takes for sql statments
i dont know how can i get this requirment
so please tel me how can i check sql statments which they consuming more memory in my server
    Regards

    Hi,
please do needful on below issue
For the same, I suppose ?
Use Transaction ST03, choose the period (day, week or month), select "Memory Use Statistics" and sort by "Average Total Memory Usage " or "Maximum Extended Memory Usage".
Check specially if some programs use Private Memory.

  • Exchange 2013 - The Microsoft Exchange Transport service is rejecting message submissions because the service continues to consume more memory than the configured threshold

Noticed at about noon that no emails had been received all day. Began to investigate and found that the MS Exchange Transport service had been set to deny email submission because it was using too much memory on the server (91%).
The error message makes me think that we may have been getting used by malware or something similar.“The Microsoft Exchange Transport service is rejecting message submissions because the service continues to consume more memory than the
    configured threshold.”
There are also several warning messages that list particular IP addresses and say that a connection from that IP was denied because there were already the maximum number of connections (20).
From what I can tell, all of the IP addresses are from Taiwan.
The time period for which some emails may be missing is from close of business yesterday ( 4/3/2014) through about 12:45 today (4/4/2014).
From the time I spent reading and trying to figure out the error, I think we may need to readjust our throttling policies to prevent this from happening.
The exchange server is currently running at 90%+ CPU and 50%+ memory usage the majority of the time, and I’m not sure how to fix it.
Also, I cannot get into EMS I get a access denied message from the destination computer. (Exchange server) I want to get into there to change the throttling policy back to default, since we disabled it.
    The Error reads:
The WinRM client cannot process the request. The WinRM client tried to use Kerberos authentication mechanism, but the destination computer <Exchange> returned an 'access denied' error. Change the configuration to allow Kerberos authentication
mechanism to be used or specify one of the authentication mechanism supported by the server. (How do I do this?) To use Kerberos, specify the local computer name as the remote destination. (I'm trying to use EMS while logged into the local Exchange server)
Also verify that the client computer and the destination computer are joined to a domain. (Exchange is on our domain, and the computer trying to connect is the same computer) To use basic, specify the local computer name as the remote destination, specify
Basic authentication and provide user mane and password. Possible authentication mechanisms reported by server.

I assumed control of this exchange system already in place and I do not have much experience with exchange 2013 or server 2012. I do know 2008, but that doesn't help very much in this situation.
    Recent changes to the system:
About three days ago we switch our sessions policy to allow many more connections, and I believe this caused the issue. This is what I changed it to:
Made the registry DWORD (32-bit) "Maximum Allowed Sessions Per User" and modified the value to 1000. Location of registry change @ HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeIS\ParametersSystem
I just changed it to 10 from the 1000. I'm hoping this solves this. So far no.
Also, I am not the best in the shell or command line interfaces. Any help would be wonderful!

    Hi,
Yes, could be hardware performance issue. Try recycle the Transport process and see if the issue persists.

  • Firefox 7.0.1 consumes more memory than just FF 7.0!

You have got to be kidding me, Mozilla! You claimed that Firefox 7.0 would consume less memory than its predecessors. Well, FF7.0 does consume less memory, but when I upgraded to Firefox 7.0.1 and used the browser, it now consumes MORE memory than FF7.0 did before, and it is now at nearly 300,000 KB to nearly 500,000 KB! And that was on my first use! The second or other times I used it, Firefox 7.0.1 only consumes less memory, than the first time I used the browser! Mozilla, when will you wise up and fix the memory leaks again?

That is nothing, my Firefox 7.0.1 consumes 2.47GB (2 473 805 KB to be exact) ram with just 2 open tabs...
My system is with 8GB ram and I'm running out of memory...
Most of the time when I browse, the pages load slowly, firefox freezes during scrolling (and assortment of other problems)

  • FBL3N consumes more memory

    Hi all,
When i run FBL3N, it consumes more and more memory(~6 GB) on server. I think that there is a problem. I apply OSS note 194842, but problem was not solved. How can i achieve this problem?
    Best regards,
    Munur

    Hi Munur,
I just did a search and came across your message, did you ever find a solution to your problem ?
We are experiencing a similar problem in our system running ECC6.0 I have seen users using in excess of 6.5GB of memory with transaction FBL3N in a single session! Surely this is not normal ?
We are currently on ERP6.0 SPS10 soon to be update to SPS13 which I'm hoping may "fix" the issue.
    Anybody have any ideas ?

  • Oracle 11G consuming more memory

    Dear experts,
I have upgraded oracle 10 to 11 as one of my project.
After upgrading the 11G is consuming more OS level resources. almost 15GB ram whith out any load.
I would like to know what is the minimal usage of 11G at os level.
    thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    shiva P

For a old version of BW system with Oracle 11G, not sure how much your system is loaded.
However, you can always try to optimize resource available. If your memory is less, you need to add swap space and monitor it's usage.
    Check for BW specific parameters.

  • SQL consuming more memory without any process

    Hi experts,
SQL is consuming 95% of physical memory with out any process in SQL Server. How to overcome this problem.

    Hi experts,
SQL is consuming 95% of physical memory with out any process in SQL Server. How to overcome this problem.
This is not a problem unless you show me Out of memory error.
Use following counters to set correct value for max server memory.
You should refer to perfmon counters to get estimate of memory utilized by SQL Server and then set accurate value
    SQLServer:Buffer Manager--Buffer Cache hit ratio(BCHR):
    SQLServer:Buffer Manager--Page Life Expectancy(PLE):
    SQLServer:Buffer Manager--CheckpointPages/sec
    SQLServer:Memory Manager--Memory Grants Pending:
    SQLServer:memory Manager--Target Server Memory:
    SQLServer:memory Manager--Total Server memory
Please read below article for details about this counter

Rest assured buddy this is not an issue and best part is if OS faces memory crunch anyhow SQL Server will release memory it has taken, will trim down its consumption .So its totally normal behaviour. If you really want to decrease memory consumption set lower
valur for MAX SERVER MEMORY.But will not advise you to do so as it will flush out cache and other plans.
You should set a page file almost double the RAM you have I guess that is the value they recommned.
Sometimes if you have big databse ( 500 G -1 TB)and lots of pages are read memory utilization rises to keep this pages in Buffer cache and it seems SQL Server is utilizing more mmeory but it is doing for your own good to make query faster .Any read/write
would be satisfied from memory instead of bringing data from disk which is costly

  • Sql server is using memory more then there max memory setting?

    Hi All,
today i have faced the different issue..........
we have one SQl server 2008 prod server... it have memory issue actually  total server memory is 8GB and we have allocated the 6 GB to SQL server,we checked the server no open trans and dont have running jobs also, one database is using the memory high(no
open trans)... but Sql server has used 6.5 GB (6 GB) and total server used memory is reached to 7.89 GB.
Please tell me how to find the most costly query in particular database wise and sql server internally behavior ?
how to troubleshot the  above issue?
please post the your valuable answers ASAP...
    Thanks,
    RAM

Please refer to what Olaf said briefly.Buffer pool in SQL server only caters to memory requests which requires pages <8 KB . Almost all requests are satisfies by buffer pool and generally request for memory is small and so buffer pool satisfies the requests.
However there are some direct memory allocation by windows API which is done by windows for requests which  requires memory greater than 8 KB. This memory wont come from buffer pool and this would be counted in memory utilized by SQL server. SQL
CLR,XML, linked Server, all takes memory outside buffer pool in SQL Server 2008. This behavior changed in 2012 so my statement only applies to SQL server 2005/2008 and 2008 R2.
I would run below to check SQL server memory utilization.
    select
    (physical_memory_in_use_kb/1024)Memory_usedby_Sqlserver_MB,
    (locked_page_allocations_kb/1024 )Locked_pages_used_Sqlserver_MB,
    (total_virtual_address_space_kb/1024 )Total_VAS_in_MB,
    process_physical_memory_low,
    process_virtual_memory_low
    from sys. dm_os_process_memory
I am sure you must be using some features mentioned above. You were worried that even though there is no query running on SQL server it has still holded up the memory. This is default behavior and this is how memory management in SQL Server works. It will
not release memory untill SQLOS asks it to do so which is told by windows OS thorugh some flag that it is facing memory pressure.
Please read below for more details on memory. There is section to test whether system is facing memory crunch please read that as well.

I guess you allocated 100 G(arbitrary value) to buffer pool. Even though in SQL Server 2012 buffer pool was changed to cater to memory requests for many processes which were previously satisfied by Windows API directly (not from buffer pool) still there
are processes which can cause memory allocation outside buffer pool and thus increase SQL server memory consumption more than what is assigned to buffer pool so what you are seeing IS NORMAL BEHAVIOR.
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/sqlosteam/archive/2012/07/12/memory-manager-configuration-changes-in-sql-server-2012.aspx
Can you please post output of below query
    select
    (physical_memory_in_use_kb/1024)Memory_usedby_Sqlserver_MB,
    (locked_page_allocations_kb/1024 )Locked_pages_used_Sqlserver_MB,

    process_physical_memory_low,
    process_virtual_memory_low
    from sys. dm_os_process_memory
How much RAM does your system has and what is Max server memory ?
SQL server once taken memory will not release until SQLOS asks it to do so upon seeing low memory notification flag. Memory is managed dynamically and SQL Server by default caches as much as possible to avoid I/O reads which is time taking an costly

CiscoWorks LMS was upgraded from version 2.6 to 3.2
The Server previously ran at 3.5GB of Memory, but following the upgrade now runs at over 5GB of Memory.
The Server is a HP Proliant DL380 G4.
The Server has very poor response times following the upgrade, and we need to understand why this has occurred.
I guess I  need to know if there are some services that you generally disable to improve performance or do we need to upgrade the hardware.
Device has 4G of physical memory with 4G swap size.
    Any advice appreciated
    Cheers, Dom

LMS 3.2 does take more memory that 2.6.  There are more daemon processes which run (e.g. there are now two instances of the DFM servers to support scalability to 5,000 devices).  As for how much RAM will be required, that will depend on the number of devices being managed and the other processes running on the server.  With 4 GB of RAM, you should be able to manage up to 1.5K devices provided HUM is not installed, and the server is dedicated to LMS alone.

Can anyone suggest why Oracle consumes 100% Memory? and how do we resolve this?.
    Regards,
    Sabdar Syed.

Many Unix tools add to each dedicated server process memory the SGA size because under Unix each dedicated server is attaching the SGA shared memory segment to its process address space: so these Unix tools are not so reliable for Oracle.
To check the Oracle memory usage, it is generally more recommendded to use the V$ views such as V$SGASTAT and V$PGASTAT.

we have tried the below solution... after searching for resolution on the Internet
Tried enabling protocol logging but nothing found
Since it was more likely to be a DNS issue, tried manually adding DNS server IPs in the ‘Default front end receive connector’ properties.
Tried adding DNS server IPs manually into both Transport servers in ‘DNS Lookup’ setting in the server properties.
Tried adding local server's IP to the hosts file.
Checked if SMTP fixup is enabled on Firewall.
Verified the receive connector security settings.
Verified the CPU and Memory utilization is normal.
Disabled the Performance Counter on both Transport Server to ensure memory usage.
    but nothing seems helping
now the problem is because of this there is a mail delay of at least 20 minutes for incoming mails.
    Need help resolving the same.
    Neilesh

I think its working now ..
after researching a lot on events on Transport servers we got to know that 'Default Frontend Receive Connector' was rejecting some messages...
we have then increased the value for the parameter "MaxInboundConnectionPerSource" from 20 to unlimited and
    MaxInboundConnectionPercentagePerSource
from 2 to 10.. we have the waited for 2 to three hours .. the queue  then came down from 1500 to 5 and petty stable thereafter.
we will be monitoring the same for few days from now.

  • Lync Edge server on windows 2012 R2 prequistes

What, if any, are the perquisites for install lync 2013 edge server on Windows 2012 R2.  I have looked around and only found information for Windows 2012 and it requiring WIF 3.5.  Is this required for R2 as when you go to install it you get:
is it required and do I require anything else?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Agree with Georg.
What’s more, you can refer to the link of “Installing Lync 2013 Edge Server”, it is Windows Server 2012 Standard or Datacenter, but similar for Windows Server 2012 R2:

If you not choose all required roles and features, when you running Lync Server deployment Wizard and running steps, you will receive error and point out what you need to install.
