EDI - B2B or A2A??

Hello guys.
I have a conceptual question regarding the configuration of a business scenario with an outside partner using EDI.
As general ones would say that because the partner is outside the LAN its a B2B scenario ,but <b>what if the EDI box sits inside my LAN</b>...what then?
does XI adds additional elements to the XML structure(except for security and agreements) when we configure the service with party for a b2b scenario at configuration time??
Appriciate your opinion...

Here is some more info to top up
Think, Company A is dealing only with Legacy Systems or Java Based applications, but Company B cannot directly understand COmpany A's format. So the Integration Broker like XI will come into picture. While integrating Company A should know how feasible it can communicate with Company B.. More in technical, is thru WebServices Industry Standard Adapters(Seeburger EDI)/(SOAP)/Java Applications(JavaProxy)/.net Applications etc..

  • EDI - B2B - BPEL Data exchange

    Hi All,
I am new to EDI and B2B but knows BPEL very well.
    My doubts are:
    1. How and what format the data exchange happened between BPEL --> B2B and also between B2B ---> EDI ?
    2. Do we need EDI Adapter to support EDI over B2B ?
    Thanks in advance,
    Kamleshwar

    Hi Kamleshwar,
If you are working with 10g, then below links will explain you everything -

Do we need EDI Adapter to support EDI over B2B ?Oracle B2B has in-built EDI adapter and you don't need one explicitly.

  • B2B  or A2A?

    Hi Experts,
My scenerio comprises of three things. SAP ecc 6.0, PI 7.0 and SAP POS Triversity. Can you tell me is this a B2B or a A2A scenerio. POS is a Point of sale system, with no SAP ECC features or XI features, and has no relation with Netweaver.
    Experts,
    Comments Pls
    Arnab

B2B or A2A is not based on what system is involved in your scenario but rather on the landscape.
In case you are integrating systems within your own landscape then it is a A2A process and if you are communicating to an external Customer's or Vendor's application or landscape it becomes a B2B scenario.

  • Mix B2B and A2A in integration scenario

    Hello XI experts,
I'm trying to build an integration scenario in the repository that I want to import later on into the directory for automatic configuration.
The scenario is HTTP -> XI -> RFC. On the sender side I would like to use a business service, so I selected 'External party with B2B communication' for the sending application component. On the receiver side I would like to use a SAP business system, so I didn't select that option there.
Now, if I import into the directory, this doesn't work as expected. I can select my business service for the sender side, this works. However, for the receiver side I always have to specify a virtual receiver service and my receiver determination and interface determination are created with a virtual receiver service in it.
Is there any way to avoid the virtual receiver? Any help is appreciated!
    Best regards,
    Matthias

    Hello Aamir,
you are right, I don't need virtual receivers for my scenaro and I also don't want to use them.
However, when modelling my scenario with an integration scenario in the design, I'm forced to do this and I would like to know whether there is any way to avoid this.
In order to be able to use a business service on the sender side, it seems I have to select the checkbox 'External party with B2B communication' in my integration scenario. When importing & configuring the scenario in the directory, I am then able to select by business service for the sender side. However, for the receiver side I have to specify a virtual receiver, otherwise I cannot finish the config wizard.
    Any more ideas?
    Best regards,
    Matthias

  • A2A Vs B2B

What are all the Major differences between A2A and B2B
In A2A(Inside our Corporate Boundary) and B2B(Outside our Corporate Boundary) we need to have the following for sure
    1) Sender and Receiver Adapter
    2) Message Mapping (if the source and Target structures are different).
What other differences we can list? In XI whats the different process that we need to take into consideration when we do  B2B (File1 to File2) when compared to A2A (File1 to File2) ?
    Thanks

Yes correct, but you need to identify other system landscapes . For this you need to have Party configured.
    Some quick Tips-
    -Check the Firewalls/Security
-Should have different system Landscapes in place and need to know the communication protocols/message formats between different landscapes to make the good design
-Knowledge of networks/firewalls is additional while designing the solution

  • EDI or B2B

  • Queries Related to B2B configuration

    Hi,
We are working on EDI-B2B implementation
I have following Queries regarding the configuration in B2B.
    1) While Creating the Business Actions we have the following fields
    Translation Enabled –yes/no
    Validation Enabled –yes/no.
In the Document it says the performance will be impacted if validation is enabled.Needs inputs on this.
    2) When we create trading partner (remote or host) why do we set the
Application Sender code and Application receiver ID to the same value.
    3) Can we use more than one Trading Partner Identification Type (Duns number AS2 identifier) for the same Trading Partner?
    4) If we have more than one outgoing Document like 855,997,856 how we set the outbound Directories in the URI.
    Regards
    Lalit

    Hi Ramesh,
3-->Iin our case SFTP is not part of B2B.It is external to B2B.In B2B we are simply treating as the case of File protocol.
Actually what I asked was we have DUNS number both of the trading Partner(host and remote) so can we use that as the identifer(in the Identification section while creating the trading partner) or do we use names like ACME as we have used in ACME-GLOBALSCHIP sample.
For File protocol it always uses Name as the Identification.
    I have few new Queries
1)For some reasons if I have to make changes in the Trading partner name or changing Business Protocol or changes at other places in B2B configuration.
Do we need to create the Agreement again. If yes then do we delete the prevoius agreement or update will work.
Moreover what will happen to the Configuration step.
Just quese and revalidate and redeploy the Agreement.
    2) how to move the configuration settings from Development environment to Production Environment.
Export the configuration and import it into production box. Make sure to change the appropriate end point and revalidate and redeploy.
    3) I have used the 850.ecs and 850.xsd(also 997 ) in my sample application as the one sent by you.
Though I have developed the 850.ecs and 997.ecs using the B2B document editor as per the Trading partner specification I thinking whether to use new ones or continue using the Old one sent by you because it seems to be the superset.
The only issue is that it has all the segments irrespective of whether they are used or not.
What do you suggest on this.
Depends on your requirement. You can use one shipped with the product.

    Hi
A2A is application to application: when two applications in a company talk to each other we call it an A2A scenario and if its across Companies we call it B2B or buisness to buisness scenarios.
