EDI Format in SAP without Gentran Subsystem

Hello,
Our customer currently use Gentran to generate the EDI Formats, and then send it to the WebSphere broker. They do not want to use the Gentran subsystem anymore, and  ask if there is a solution in sap for creating this EDI Formats directly. I investigated that SAP does not supply the EDI subsystem for several reasons, so i have to give the customer a valid reason if this is not possible. Also i would like to know if it is possible to send directly the Idocs to the Broker and convert it to the EDI Format there .Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi Francisco,
I am not aware about Gentran system. But i can give you some information related to EDI format with help of PI
You can send or receive EDI files via PI with Seeburger insertion.
Seeburger is used to convert XML to EDI or EDI to XML.
For example I am sending an IDOC from SAP system and want an EDI file in third party system. for this scenario you have to use PI with seeburger. SAP IDOC ->PI->Seeburger->EDI file (third party)
In PI you have to create 1:1 mapping to convert IDOC to EDI XML and this EDI XML is send to seeburger to create EDI file.
There are many standard EDI mappings available in seeburger. You can check all the maping from there.
I hope this answer will help you.

Shradha

    Points rewarded for helpful answers.
    Thanks,
    Archana

    Hi,
For configuring of EDI for Invoice, you have to do following things :
    1. Use Outbound IDOC type u2013 INVOIC01 (Message type u2013 INVOIC)
    2. Maintain Condition Record for Billing Output (EDI)
               Transaction Code : VV31 / VV32 / VV33
               Output Type : RD00
    3. Port in IDOC processing
               Transaction Code : WE21
               Port Type - > File Port : For eg . - EDIFACT
Maintain all the relevant field like physical path for directory, Functional module for file name.
    4. Create Partner Profile
               Transaction Code u2013 WE20
Select Partner type KU (Customer) and maintain outbound parameters for Outbound IDoc - INCOIC01
Some Important Transaction Codes for EDI Configuration which you have to know.
               WE63 - Documentation IDOC Type
               WE46 - IDOC Administration
               WE16 - Trigger Inbound processing
WE19 - Test Tools for IDOC Processing
               WE02 u2013 IDOC Status
               WE05 u2013 IDOC Status
               We07 u2013 IDOC Statistic
    Hope you can configure now.

  • Help needed on Transforming input File to EDI Format

I have an input flat file in one location. Using BizTalk, i need to pick that file from that Recieve location, transform it to EDI format and send it to Destination location.
Now, when I place input file in the "Recieve location", it is being processed and it is erased from recieve location. But I am not able to see the output in the Destination location.
And when i query it in BizTalk Administration console, the state is "Completed" without any errors.
Any guidance/suggestions are appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi all, I have just collated everything and have put it in my words below..Please
let me know your valuable inputs as I am struck in this point from more than a week.
I need to fetch an input flat file (.txt format) from the "Receive location" and I am supposed to transform that to an EDI message X12 format and send it to Destination folder.
I have set up the receive port and send port configurations in the Admin Console, have created the Trading Partners, agreement and other settings.
The problem I am facing : Now, when I place input file in the "Receive location", it is being processed and I am able to pick up the file from the input folder
but I am not able to figure out why the file is not being processed and sent to the destination folder.. (If I query for All In Progress instances, suspended instances or Running instances : I am not getting any results and the below grid is always empty).
And when i query it in Biz-talk Administration console for Tracked instances, the Receive pipeline component's state is "Completed" without any errors.
And I am not using any Orchestration in between..
    Thank you all in advance....

  • Print BDS document(in PDF format) from SAP R/3

    Hello ,
I have a requirement to print BDS document(in PDF format) from SAP R/3 without user interaction.
In simple way, if I execute the program - PDF document will get printed on local default printer.
Please help me if anybody worked on similar requirement.
    Thank you very much,
    Liliya

    Hi Liliya,
First you should create a smartform for BDS  Layout and give output parameter like this..
      wa_param-langu     = sy-langu.
      wa_param-no_dialog = 'X'.
      wa_param-getotf = 'X'.
wa_param-DEVICE = '     '.                               " (here you can give the path of your printer)
      lv_output_options-tdnewid = 'X'.                      "Print parameters,
      lv_output_options-tddelete = space.                "Print parameters,
      lv_output_options-tdnoprev    = 'X' .
lv_output_options-TDIMMED    = 'X' .               " it will give the immediate output of form in given output device
I hope it will help you.....
    Enjoy...

  • Data transfer using EDI from one SAP system to other SAP system

    Dear all,
I understand that i should use normal ale-idoc features to transfer data from one sap to other sap system.
but can i transfer those idocs using EDI from one SAP to other SAP system

    Hello,
    surely you can do so.
EDI means that you transfer data in standardized EDI-formats. To get the data at the source  into that formats you normally use an EDI-Converter, which maps the IDOC-format into the EDI-format. Then you send the data in EDI-format to an EDI-converter at the target. There's the reverse mapping. You map the EDI-Format into IDOC-format and book these IDOCs into SAP.
I think this makes only sense if you cross organizational borders within the business process, e.g., if you define an exchange with many customers, but not all of them have an SAP-system.

    Hi
from my source i'm getting EDI documents.. i need to load this data into IDOCS in R/3 system .. ..but here i got one doubt..  the source format is always EDI format only.. then why  again they are choosing XI integration.. with out XI also dircetly we can load those  edi documents through EDI sub system....
here what is the adavatages..  by using XI insted of directly  load the data into R/3 system..
    Thanks

    Hi,
For understanding the EDI file we need to use the third party seeburger adapter like As2,X400,OFTP.
We need to write a module program in the module parameter tab of adapter which does the conversion of EDI to XML and XML to EDI so that it will be understood by XI.
Refer all my threads which gives you more idea.
Refer this forum which is replied by me which talka about the configuration which need to be done for AS2 adapter. This is very helpful:

Seeburger adapters like OFTPS,AS2,X400 are used for B2B scenario where the file is coming through WAn network or mailbox. As XI dont have capability to convert the EDIFACT format file to XML the same work will be done by seeburger adapters.
The SEEBURGER Business Integration Converter (BIC) is an any-to-any format converter, used to translate EDI data and legacy data formats into XML and vice versa. It can also be used for complex, high performance XML-to-XML mappings or to interface to existing JDBC data sources.
    Supported EDI formats include:
    • ANSI
    • EDIFACT
    • INHOUSE
    • IDOC
    • XML Schema
    • XML DTD
    • CSV
    • Delimited Data
    • positional data
    • SWIFT
    • EANCOM
    and many more.
See for converting the EDI XML to EDI and XML-EDI you need to have a seeburger mapping program at the adapter module which does the conversion. For this module you need a BIC tool of seeburger which provides the different module program for EDI to XML and XML-EDI. This program needs to be deployed on XI and through adapter it has to be called for conversion.
    Thnx

  • EDI content with SAP

    Hi,
Could anyone please explain me as to how we could verify that the data in SAP system matches with the EDI subsystem. Is there a transaction to verify the content of the data in SAP is same as that in EDI.
    Many Thanks, SR.

There is no transaction for such global comparison. You can compare the data in EDI system and SAP item by item. For example, if you use EDI to send purchase orders, then you could get a list of POs in EDI and then run a query for them in SAP.
If you use IDocs, you can see the IDocs in WE05 transaction and also compare tto EDI one by one. There is no magical transaction to compare "everything" to "everything".

  • How to format my computer without affecting the software installed?

how do I format my computer without affecting the software installed?

You can, but if you don't format the drive using the Zero Data option all your personal files will still be accessible to someone who knows how to gain access to them. If that's not a concern then here are two options (easy and not so easy):
    The Easy Way
    1. First, boot from your Tiger DVD, select your language and click on the Continue button, then select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu, select your boot hard drive, go to the First Aid tab, and click the button for Repair Disk. Repeat this until no trouble is found. Then click on the Repair Permissions button. Then quit DU, return to the installer and shutdown the computer for a couple of minutes.
This will assure that the drive is OK and permissions are OK.
    2. Next, boot to single user mode by restarting and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-S keys until a black screen with white type appears.
    3. At the prompt, type the following commands pressing return after each command line:
    /sbin/fsck -yf
    mount -uw /
    rm /private/var/db/.AppleSetupDone
    shutdown -r now
The second-to-last command above will cause OS X to think that the operating system is newly installed, and when you reboot, it will send you to the startup wizard where you can start a new user without reinstalling.
    The Not So Easy Way
Follow these instructions step by step to prepare a Mac for sale:
    First, back up the data:
    1) Shut down all Virtual PCs. They cannot be in their "fast saved" state. They must be shut down from inside Windows.
    2) Clone to an external drive using Carbon Copy Cloner.
Next, prepare the machine for the new buyer:
    3) Deauthorize the computer in iTunes! Deauthorize both iTunes and Audible accounts.
    4) Remove Open Firmware passwords
    5) Turn the brightness full up and volume nearly so.
    Install a fresh OS:
    6) Insert the OS X install CD/DVD.
    7) Restart the computer while holding down the C key to boot from the CD/DVD.
    8) Run Disk Utility from the file menu and erase the internal hard drive (optionally zero all data).
    9) Install OS X.
    10) Reboot the computer.
    11) From the welcome screen, you can skip the registration step by typing command-Q.
    12) When prompted, create an account (it will be an admin account).
    13) From your new admin account, configure networking.
    14) Then use Software Update to bring your system and all of it's applications up to date.
    15) From Disk Utility, repair permissions on the new volume.
Now delete the account you just created:
    16) Boot from a different volume (e.g. a firewire drive, if available)
    17) Clean up the image using the following terminal commands:
    prompt> rm /Volumes/<imagevol>/var/db/BootCache.playlist
    prompt> rm /Volumes/<imagevol>/var/db/volinfo.database
    prompt> rm -r /Volumes/<imagevol>/var/vm/swap*
    18) Now you can get rid of the admin account you used to set up the machine Use the terminal:
    prompt> nicl -raw /Volumes/<imagevol>/var/db/netinfo/local.nidb -delete /users/<admin>
    prompt> rm -r /Volumes/<imagevol>/Users/<admin>
    prompt> rm /Volumes/<imagevol>/var/db/.AppleSetupDone
    19) Shut down and ship it to your buyer. When they get it, it will boot to the Welcome screen just like a factory Mac, except that it's better because it's completely up to date.

  • Payment made in SAP without entering an invoice

    Dear All,
How can I make a wire payment in SAP without having an invoice entered for it. The scenario at my client site is they make a wire payment through AMEX (credit card) for which there is no invoice entered. SO they make a wire payment say at the begininng of the month and then they would enter the invoice made for the wire payment say at the end of the month and link the payment made to that particular invoice. How will I replicate this in SAP? Please help.
    Thanks,
    Ratheesh

    Hi,
Please note that Payment Request functionality is to be used to meet your requirement. The following are the steps:
    1. Create Payment Request: F-47 (assign Spl. GL indicator F or P)
    2. Make payment through F110. The Spl. GL indicator should be allowed in FBZP in Set All Company Codes for Payment Transactions.
    3. Post Invoice: F-43 or FB-60 clear the using the Spl. GL indicator (as given in point.1)

  • Date format in SAP Knowledge management

    Hi Friends,
Is there an option to change the Date format in SAP Knowledge management. I want to change the date format from MM/DD/YY to DD/MM/YY for the created and modified date for a document in KM.
Found below information in help.sap. I searched in KM configuration -> Global Service for the setting. But I am not sure how or where to cheange it.
Date and Time Specification for Properties - Knowledge Management - SAP Library
Can you any one help me with this.
    Netweaver version is 7.00 SP24.
    Thank you in advance.
    Thank you
    ~Kamesh~

    Hello Kamesh,
if you look at the SAP Help link, you see that it is a part of the "Property Metadata Service" (the point one level up). There you see, where you can find the service itself in the portal and if you look at the "Related Areas" you should find "Property Metadata" (at least I do in my 7.31 portal ).
From there the link you found yourself should guide you well to do the changes you wish.
    Regards,
    Steffi.
