Edimax & 6510

Recently purchased 6510 and wireless set-up went fine and worked just fine with my ethernet connected PCs, one running Windows XP and the other Vista. Installation on both no problem and they still work just fine. Then purchased new laptop running windows 7 and connected to router via ethernet initially to instal latest drivers from HP rather than the disk supplied. Printing and scanning work just fine. Then disconnected ethernet and got successful network connection via the wireless connection on the Edimax router. However, I cannot print when my laptop is connected via the wireless network. Internet is just fine on wireless connection, I just can't print. If I leave a job in the Queue, and then plug the Ethernet cable back in, it prints almost immediately.
Have tried switching off various elements and switching back on but to no avail. I also note that my IPAD cannot see the router or the printer although it, and my laptop appear in the Edimax list of devices when I look for them. This one has got me beat. Oh, by the way, I ran all of the HP diagnostic software, and that didn't provide a solution either. Any suggestions would be really welcome.
By the way I installed a similar setup in Spain with a 5510 printer but with a Draytek 2830 router and had absolutely no problems at all with wireless laptop and iPAD working just fine and also PC plugged directly into router via Ethernet. Could this be a router issue???
This question was solved.

Thanks for all your input. I decided it
had to be something to do with the router and its settings, so rather than go through the Edimax ask a question and never get a reply routine I had a closer look at a couple of the settings and tried a couple of changes on my router. In the advanced settings for the wireless element there were a couple of choices for 'Relay Blocking' and 'Protection'. Both of these were 'Enabled' so I changed them to 'Disabled' and low and behold the printer now works from my lap-top and from the iPAD, have yet to try the notebook, but I suspect it will be OK.
As there is no documentation with this router and the 'on screen' help is non-existent it is not obvious to me what these two changes may have invoked in terms of fire walling, but I'm hoping I'm OK and have not opened up my system too much. I still have MAC addressing to restrict which devices can see the router and get through to the internet, so I think I will probably be OK.
Only have a remaining issue of why I always have problems from this new laptop when it comes to printing a Web Page (Always comes up with an error) and why I can't print anything from my 'Live Mail', but that can keep for another day.
Thanks for you hints and advice in your various posts, at least it got me thinking in the right direction, and i eventually found a solution. Many Thanks.

  • HP Photosmart 6510 e-All in One Series I want it to print off my PC in just Black and not Colour?

Please help! I have been in to settings for the printer on my Lap-top and can not find anywhere that will allow me to adjust to just printing in Black and White when I need it and not Colour all the time, which it is doing!

  • Photosmart 6510 e-ALL-IN-ONE Series offline

I can't get my 6510 all in one to go back on-line.  I have windows 7 on my hp laptop and use my android phone as my wireless connection - this has worked perfectly for the past two years.  I ran a wireless network test and the printer indicates PASS on connected.  I've shut my printer off and turned back on.  I did scan some pictures last weekend so I'm wondering if that has changed something.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Hi Williamstw
I understand you are unable to get the Photosmart 6510 back on line.
I have provided a document for the printer being offline to take a look at.
    Hope this helps.

  • PhotoSmart 6510 e All-IN-ONE Series HP Printer

My HP Photosmart 6510 e-All- In -One printer suddenly stoped coping, and delivers blank pages.  When I print from my laptop the printer works but the quality is poor; printing faded out areas within the printed-out paper process.  I tries cleaning the Pringheads, but got no resolve to my issue.  Can anyone give advice on eliminating my problem?

When you replaced the printer cartridges did it clear up the problem?

  • How to print out wallet size photos on 6510 e-all-in-one series photosmart printer

want to print out wallet size photos (size 3 and a half x 2 and a half).  I have windows XP and my printer is the photosmart 6510 e-all-in-one series

You will have to change the settings in the photo editing software and put 2 wallets on a 4x6 or 9 wallets on a full page.  The photo tray will not take paper smaller than 4x6.

  • Connection constantly dropping with edimax ew-7612uan USB adapter

    Hi there,
I have just installed a newly purchased edimax ew-7612uan USB wireless adapter, the problem that I'm getting is that the connection works fine on boot however it keeps dropping very frequently.
This can be reset by running netctl restart my-network. which is a temporary fix but I can't keep on doing this every 5 minutes or so when the connection drops.
I don't think there is a problem with the USB adapter as it appears to work fine in windows (I don't work fine with windows though!).
The same problem has happened on both of my Arch computers... I don't use any other distributions so I don't know if this is an arch specific problem or a general Linux problem. It also happens when using the live disk.
The old adapter is still installed in the box but once I can get this one working properly it will be removed.

    - toggle encryption
    - different usb port

HP can make my New Year a marvalous one by developing an OCR app that is compatable with the HP 6510 Printer. What is OCR you ask? Well, OCR stands for Optical Charcter Recognition and what that does is; it enables you to scan a form and have the ability to write or fill in the blanks on the form.

On my Dell Latitude D620, Windows XP 32 bit system and my 6510 printer wireless connection (Linksys EA4500) , everything works fine after the computer is booted.  After a period of time (usually overnight), I lose connection to the printer (the scanner icon with a red x is shown on my Windows task bar and I can't print.  Ran Windows Fix and the HP fix programs.  The only thing that solves it is to reboot the computer.  A second symptom is that my IE8 stops connecting to the internet at the same time (gives a 'waiting for' response that never changes).  Firefox still connects OK when this is happening.  So I suspect the problem isn't with the printer, but with my Windows set up.  It is a fresh XP SP3 install (hard drive crashed, but it happened before also).  I reset IE, checked my proxy, no malware, happens with or without firewalls and security programs.
Hoping that someone else has run into this problem.  Been all over Google, and the IE doesn't work / Firefox works is fairly common, but none of the fixes helps.

If you want you can reload Firefox 4.0 or the last "old" version is 3.6.16 and is available here:
    http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
Just reinstall your choice of FF. The bookmarks are in a different directory and are NOT overwritten. Some of the Add-ons that worked in 3.6 DO NOT work with 4.0, pay attention and head any warnings when you start 4.0.
I had to disable extensions: Flashblock and WOT
Firefox SafeMode? - A troubleshooting mode.

  • HP 6510 won't print black on page (dumps it on the right, image inside)

    Hello everybody,
For the past couple of days my HP 6510 printer no longer prints black ink on the page.
I've already searched the forums to look for an answer and have tried pretty much everything, as well as going through the whole troubleshooting page here:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=uk&lc=en&docname=c02907259
The printer still does not work properly. The CMY inks still work fine, and there was never a problem with any of them.
I had noticed that the estimated ink levels were going down for the black ink so I knew that it was actually releasing the ink, just not on the paper. (although I do get the two light grey bars when doing the clean printhead test, but no black.)
I noticed that there was a lot of ink on the inside of the right side of the printer, just under where the print cartridges are located when they are not in use, just a big blob of black, although I later found out that it was actually all four inks - mostly black though.
I place a little piece of card in there and printed a short document to see how much of each ink was being released, and this is what I found.
(Open in new tab for full size)
I also bought a new black cartridge to see if the problem would go away and it doesn't. The fact that nothing seems to be 'broken' and that the other inks all work fine I am convinced this is a software issue and that the printer hardware is not damaged.
    Printer Driver: 09.84.00.1173
    OS: Windows 8.1 64bit
    Connecting over Wifi
Does anybody have a fix for this?

There seems to be nothing unusual about the printer other than the missing black ink.
The vents are not clogged, I even got a new black ink to see if that would fix it, unfortunately it didn't.
As you can see in the picture I added to my original post, black ink is being released, just not on the page itself.
I've tried cleaning the print head several times from the tool menu, but this still hasn't fixed the problem with my black ink, and the alignment tool fails every time.
I've tried to manually clean the printhead and hard reset the printer but that didn't fix anything either.
Is there an older driver for the printer that maybe I could try and see if it works?

  • How to connect 6510 printer to ID

I have a wireless 6510 printer now need to know how I can connect IPAD so I can print from the IPAD

    Hi @lmadubuque
Welcome to the HP Support Forums. I see that you would like to learn how to setup your Photosmart 6510 printer so you can print from your iPad.
Please start by connecting the printer to your wireless network. This can be easily accomplished from the front panel of the printer. If you are unsure how to do this the steps can be found in the Photosmart 6510 User Guide on page 37, in the section titled “To connect the product with the Wireless Setup Wizard”.
Once the printer is connected to your wireless network and if your router supports Bonjour  communication you should now be able to print using Apple’s AirPrint feature.  I’ve included 2 different documents on using Apple’s AirPrint with HP printers.  The first one is Printing from Your Apple Device with Non-Web-Enabled Printers (No Apple AirPrint or HP ePrint Suppor... and the second one is How to Use Apple's AirPrint Over a Wireless Network.
If you want more options than what is available with AirPrint (see Apple’s AirPrint Basics document) you can download and install HP’s ePrint Mobile app.   I’ve included the HP ePrint Mobile App FAQs document for reference.
If you would like to scan with your iPad please download HP’s All-in-One Printer Remote app.  The app will allow customers, with a supported printer, to scan documents to their iPad.  I’ve included the HP All-in-One Printer Remote Mobile App FAQs document for reference.
If you would like to setup HP’s ePrint feature, the first step would be to Get the Printer’s Claim Code. Once you have the printer’s claim code you would add it to your HP ePrintCenter or HP Connected account (HP Connected has only been rolled out to the USA, the UK, Germany and France), and then you have the option to Customize the ePrint Email Address.  I’ve also included the Getting Started with ePrint document which will explain how to print with ePrint and also has an FAQ section.
If things go awry, please let me know at which step things went hairy and if you received any error messages.
