Edirol UM-1ex interface compatibility

Hey guys,
Just wondering if any has had issues with the 10.5.2 update being compatible with there USB MIDI interfaces.
I have a Roland Juno-D synth plugged into my iMac via the edirol UM-1ex interface. I had avoided the 10.5.2 update (as i know how many problems its still causing) but unfortunately it was installed the other day. Now my synth is not working with Logic 8/Garageband.
The MIDI Audio device doesn't seem to be working either. When you create a setup and then click 'Test Setup' the cursor should turn into musical notes but it no longer does.
I've been in contact with Pro Apps (who have no clue on what to do) and turned me to forums, i've spoken with Edirol who have subsequently hit the roof that their product is no longer compatible.
Im just hoping that im not the only one experiencing this so i can positively point out that the update has caused this and its not my equipment. If anyone has any info regarding this i would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks.

Hi
Have you installed the latest driver?
Have you restarted the Mac?
Have you shut down, re-connected the UM then re-started the Mac? ( A cold boot will re-set the USB bus).
Do you have any other USB devices connected ( remove them and repeat Shut down + Restart)

  • Benchmark ADC1,DAC1,G5 OS 10.4.6 and YAMAHA SYNTH S30 with Edirol UM-1EX

I realy need help from anyone out there. Any help would be greatly appreciated.I connected ADC1 optical out to G5 opt-in from G5 opt-out to DAC1 opt-in and YAMAHA synth S30 MIDI I/O to G5 USB in by EDIROL UM-1EX MIDI-USB convertor. First the MIDI worked ,but Audio from Mic Pre to ADC1 to G5 from G5 to DAC1, I got repeat sound like a long delay sound, and now even the MIDI also stops working. I all the G5 I mentioned above is only one computer. I also ran Logic Audio MIDI setup assistent together with Driver for the EDIROL UM-1EX.
Please note, UM-1 and UM-1EX use the same driver.

  • Edirol Audio/Midi Interface and Yamaha Keyboard

    Hi everybody,
I just got an Edirol Audio/Midi interface UA-20, installed correctly with latest drivers, garage band recognizes it. Now I want to connect my old Yamaha PSR SQ16 keyboard through it, but somehow it doesn't work. Can anybody please give me a guidance on how to connect it properly, maybe i'm too dumb for that...
    Thanks for any help!

I'm shure you must have already figured this out, becouse it's very simple thing to do, but I'll post my answer anyway, perhaps someone else has the same problem.
The Yamaha PSR SQ16 has a "MIDI OUT" plug, in the back of the sinthetizer. To connect with de UA20 Edirol, all you need to do is to get a midi cable (you can find it in every music store) and plug the Yamaha PSR SQ16 MIDI OUT to the Edirol UA20 MIDI IN.
    And boy, that's it.
All the fantastic sounds and samples that cames with Garageband, are now triggerd through your Yamaha PSR SQ16.
Things to check: in the AUDIO MIDI UTILITY, be shure that the UA20 is set as de midi in out device.
In Preferences of Garageband, be shure to check that the UA20 is set as audio and midi interface.
    Hope this be helpfull.
I apologise for my english, it isn't my first language.

  • Can you run Edirol / Focusrite firewire interfaces at the same time?

    Hey Guys,
I have an Edirol FA-101 but i'm just about to get a Focusrite Saffire (or maybe a Motu 8pre...haven't decided yet) and was wondering if I can run the 2 interfaces at the same time for more inputs...i know i can chain 2 of the edirol ones but i'm not sure if it works with different makes.
    Thanks

so I actually did get myself a focusrite saffire pro 26 and it's pretty cool (apart from the focusrite computer side interface that seems to have a few bugs when you control by hardware...)
I'm probably gonna get myself an octopre or a twintrack pro to make use of at least some of the extra digital inputs but for now I have the semi redundant Edirol FA-101 in my rack, if I can get the two working together then that's great!
I have tried what you said and it did pair them together however it made a really awful noise when trying to record, just intense digital distortion and i'm not really sure why. I'm running it all from a macbook pro with only one FW port (that has the Saffire / Edirol / FW Hard drive / Liquid Mix running from it in that order) do you think this order is more the problem?

  • Audio/midi interface compatibility with Logic Express Mac osx 10.6.5

hi all, I'm looking for a compatible audio/midi interface to use with the latest mac os. I recently purchased a Ediroll UA25 but was unable to get it working . I installed the latest drivers from the Roland site but when plugged in it just wasn't being recognised. I sent it back and got a full refund but now I am insure if the Ediroll was faulty or if it wasn't compatible with os 10.6.5. I am now in the process of looking to purchase another interface but am looking for help from you guys.
    Thanks in advance,
    kiev

    Hi,
just out of curiousity: did you use the UA-25 or the UA-25EX? I know the 25EX has a driver switch on it's back where you can enable a standard driver which should be compatible to OS X without an additional driver.
However, i didn't find another interface including a compressor except for the Yamaha Audiogram 6, if you need this feature.
If you don't need it, buy a MOTU, preferably with firewire, or a Presonus. If you want quality, maybe an Apogee Duet. I myself - due to shortage of funds - still use either my Tascam Fireone or my Alesis I/O 2. The Alesis sounds nice for it's price, but i won't buy any of these lower end interfaces anymore. You get what you pay for. I also used the Edirol UA-25EX for a time, but this was before snow leopard, so i can't really say "Yes or No", but it was definitely a very good interface compared to it's price. I won't recommend M-Audio, however, but others like it.

  • Connecting Edirol UA-25 Interface to iMac

hi all. i just bought an iMac and successfully installed the Edirol UA-25 software. However, when i restart the iMac after installation and plug in the interface, my mac doesn't recognize it...nor does the interface turn on. i tried finding it when searching in the sound utilities and it wasn't available in that drop-down list either. what else can i do? i tried re-installing the software and it confirms that installation is successful...so, i don't really know what to do next. (i'm admittedly new to this.) any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
as far as i know, the Edirol has a switch on it's back to select between standard and advanced drivers. Standard should work with Core Audio Standard (without drivers), but to use "Advanced" you need the newest Roland driver.
The buzzing can have other causes. Please make shure you put your speaker's power cord into the same power outlet source as your iMac and (if it has) the edirol power connector. Check if none of the cables is lying beneath a power cable, transformer or whatever could induce humming.
But: If the problem persists, and you just bought the Edirol, turn it back to the dealer - it may be a defect (this may happen even with edirol )

  • Audio Interface Compatibility w/ Soundtrack Pro

I am a fairly new Soundtrack Pro user but have used other multitrack audio editing programs in the past. I am in the market for an audio interface to run my new studio monitors and mics etc. The audio interface I am considering buying is the M-AUDIO FIREWIRE 410. Does anyone out there know about any compatibility issues regarding Soundtrack Pro and this model? Does anyone have any other audio interface brands that are compatible that they would recommend and why? Any and all suggestions are much appreciated. Thank you for your time.
    G5 Power Mac   Mac OS X (10.4)

    Peter,
The FW410 is compatible with STP. In fact, any Core Audio-compatible interface is ok. That said, I wouldn't buy a FW410. I used to have one and I wasn't really satisfied. Drivers problem are one reason but there's other things as well like unbalanced outputs, ordinary mic preamps and average built quality.
I think you should take a look at the Focusrite Saffire. This is a very good interface. You get good mic pres, dual headphone outs with separate headphones mixes, balanced outputs, DSP Comp and EQ for tracking. I'm very satisfied with mine. Also, since it's a class-compliant device, you don't need to wait for drivers updates each time there's a OS update.

  • Edirol UA-25 interface w/ OSX 10.3.9?

    Hi,
I've got an eMac with OSX v10.3.9 - I've been running GarageBand 2 and would like to find a good quality interface to use so I can record a vocal and guitar at the same time. The Edirol UA-25 has been recommended -
However, it doesn't look like there is a driver for this operating system on the Roland website - I only see one for OSX v10.5, and I'm assuming this won't work with v10.3.9?
Any help would be greatly appreaciated.
    Best,
    Jeremy

Get a Firewire cable & connect the two Macs
See How to Use Firewire Target Disk Mode

Depending on the number/size of the files, it might be easier to use a USB thumb drive.

  • Audio/MIDI Interface Compatibility with Logic Pro 7.2

    Hello,
Is/are there a recommended audio/midi interface(s) that will work without audio/midi timing glitches with Logic Pro 7.2? Currently, I am using Pro Tools LE v7.1, along with the DIGI002 Rack. That combination works very well, with no glitches whatsover. The possibility of using Logic Pro 7.2 raises the question of what would be a compatible interface. I don't think the DIGI002 Rack has the necessary drivers, although I may be mistaken. However, there must be an interface that works well with Logic Pro 7.2.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
    Thank you,

    Hello,
I went to the Metric Halo Web site and was not able to find the interface that you may have been referring to. It looks like the Mobile I/O may be the correct one, however, that interface is much more than I would want to spend (http://www.mhlabs.com/metric_halo/products/mio/)
The price seems to be @ $1200. Anyway, I am somewhat confused regarding the Metric Halo.
Any additional advice/help would be appreciated.

  • M-Audio Mobile Pre USB audio interface compatibility w/ FCP

I am trying to do voiceovers in FCP with my mic connected to the XLR input on a M-Audio Mobile Pre USB audio interface.
The first time I did this, even though I got a signal in System Preferences audio input, I would get no signal in the Voiceover Tool window in FCP. I know I chose the correct source, input and rate for the device. I rebooted and it worked. Then on another day a reboot would not make it work. Now I can’t make it work again. Upon opening FCP with the USB interface connected OSX crashed. This almost never happens ether with the system in general or since I installed FCP 5.1. This has happened twice. I also started this whole process by updating to the newest driver for the M-Audio device. I liked the sound I got when it worked so any help with this problem would be appreciated.

Thanks for that link...that's what I saw months ago, and I realize I got a few of the specifics mixed up. UNFORTUNATELY, I tried those tips and I still have the exact same problem. I also went to M-Audio and downloaded the most recent driver. I did a variety of starts and re-starts where the unit was connected or not upon start up...whether phantom power was on or off at start up, etc etc. And by start up I mean both starting GB only, and/or starting up my Mac. I tested using the interface through both of the USB ports. All yield the same result. The only thing I didn't test yet is changing the USB cable itself.
Any more thoughts? You think the interface is bad?

  • Problems recognising Edirol UM1 MIDI interface

I'm posting here because I know people who use Logic are very knowledgeable about these things ...
Our music department at school has 3 macs. One runs 10.3 and recognises the UM1 - MIDI works fine ... if only I can remember which to switch on first.
I took EVERYTHING to the next machine (running 10.2) - interface, cables and keyboard. Nothing. No lights or anything. We restarted, reintalled the drivers and all that sort of stuff. I even cleared out all the devices in Audio MIDI Setup and reinstalled the drivers. Now it won't even recognise the interface (system profiler just says Vendor Specific usb device).
    I tried the M-Audio Oxygen 8 - no problems.
I even tried a new account, but nothing works. We are at a loss. I am the nearest thiing to a "Mac Expert" at school - Our IT manager just says things like "We said you should have bought PCs" (I wonder what he says when the PCs crash? I don't think he knows Unix!).
Strange thing is all the machines have worked with the interfaces before. They have just stopped over the summer break. Is there some magic sequence for settting up MIDI that I should know about?
We are running Cubase SE, but I doubt that makes a difference. We aren't getting that far!
Thanks ... but we need these machines running tomorrow for an Open day "see how good we are"!!!!!

    10.2.8 ? or earlier ?
Probably earlier ... I'm at home now so I can't really check
    If earlier update.
Not (legally) possible. I have Panther lying about, but it's mine; I have a iBook running Panther and it would be breaking the terms of the license to install it on another machine (but we all know this!)
    Try trashing AMS prefs. ( ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.audio. AudioMIDISetup.plist )
I was looking for a pref to trash! Wouldn't creating a new account and logging in as that rule that possibility out though?
Dunno. I'll try tomorrow. In the mean time, have a "thanks" and a "+" on me

  • MIDI interface compatibility

Does the old version of MIDISPORT (was it called Midiman back then?) MIDI interface work with Logic Pro 7, because I'm thinking of getting one (for the ridiculously cheap price) for my other studio?

    Hi,
This is a question for the mfr of the MIDISPORT. Are you able to have compatible drivers for the Mac OS version you are running? If so, then it should work fine. If not, then consider getting something else.
    Cheers

  • M-Audio Firewire Interface Compatibility with Logic 8

Hi, i´m getting started in the Audio business and therefor i´m trying to build a small production studio.I´m doing it around Logic Studio. I would like to know if the M-Audio Firewire audio interfaces work well with this DAW???
    Any info is welcome. Thanx

    RealDave is right.
I own an M-Audio Firewire 410, and it's OK, but has some annoying quirks. I think there are better pieces out there. LP8 is supposed to integrate well with Apogee interfaces, and although I haven't tested them out there is a lot of buzz about them on the forums. I have a MOTU Ultralite and think it is a fantastic piece. If you're looking for something small and portable with lots of routing options check it out. It's won some awards and has a lot of good press, check out their website. I've heard a lot of good things about other MOTU pieces too. My recommendation is to figure out how many ins and outs you want, how much money you want to spend, and then check out Apogee and MOTU.

  • IPDWDM interface Compatibility

    Hi
We Work in the network that it is based on ONS 15454  for "Transmission".
we used 15454-M-10X10G-LC card for 10G transmission network.
In the client side, Can we connect the client Ports of this card directly to the ws_x6704 Ports ? are there compatible or not ?
    with best regards

Yes you can, but you need to check PIDs of SFP modules.
    - ONS 15454 - Inventory tab in CTC, column Product ID
    - Cat 6704 - cli command "show inventory"
Then need to check standards of this SFP.

  • Interface help needed (Edirol FA-66) - works with Tiger, not Leopard

I have an Edirol FA66 that works fine on my Macbook running Tiger, but doesn't show up as a device on my iMac running Leopard. Can anyone help please? Thanks....

I used Edirol FA-66 interface successfully with my Intel iMac using Tiger & Logic, iTunes etc for a year, and it worked great. I upgraded from 10.4.4 to 10.4.11 when the system wouldn't recognize M-Audio Radium keyboard. After the upgrade keyboard is on board but now FA-66 doesn't work at all, crackles, static, no sound or device recognition. Must be some glitch in 10.4.11..? Downgraded and the keyboard is gone. Upgraded and the interface is gone. Crazy!
If I buy Leopard, will it resolve both?? I don't want to get Leopard and weigh down my system with all the stuff that goes with it and have the Edirol stuck in the same situation. Is there anyone out there who has experienced this and can recommend a particular version of Leopard?
    Thank you
