Edit 4:2:2 HL in CS4 PPro

I am using PPro CS4 and want to edit HD video with a colorspace of 4:2:2 and bitrate of about 100Mbps. There does not seem to be a method or drop down to allow this. Am I missing some part of the program? Do I need to instal something more? Or is there a workflow to allow this?
Many thanks,
Alan

Sounds like you wanna edit P2. You have to tell us what kind of footage you want to edit? You can't just set-up a color space to 'edit' in. That's not how it works.

  • A different version of the problem loading raw images edited in LR 3.3 to CS4

I have recently upgraded LR2 to LR3 (now up to 3.3). I have CS4 extended and ACR 5.7. Haven't printed for some months now because I have moved overseas (UK to Malaysia) until yesterday. The printing was a disaster because the colours printed are not as the finished print files. So I have been investigating (calibrated my monitor etc) and then I noticed any LR3 edited Nikon raw file when edited in CS4 carrying across the LR3 settings was so bad and very different to the LR3 version. The nice vibrant LR3 image was dull with inaccurate and toned down colours as though a piece of grey glass had been put in front of it.
So I have read as many of the forum questions on the related issue and have not found an answer or more to the point a solution. I run a MacPro with the latest Snow Leopard OS but all of the fixes I have tried don't change the problem. Is it a compatability problem or an error by me due to some obscure setting or something else? Never had the problem with LR2 and the same Photoshop CS4 software.
I also lost most of my LR2 edit setting for a good percdentage of the edited files when I upgarded to LR3. Don't know if this is related or another problem as now I have to redo all of the files that have lost their edited changes.
I would appreciate any help in solving this/these issues.

The question posted by me has not been answered and I am pulling my hair out trying to have my Lightroom/CS4 image processing work flow that has worked for nearly 2years back to normal.
I might as well not have lightroom as opening a lightroom 3.3 edited image in CS4 removes all of the editing done in lightroom. This appears to be true since I upgraded to v 3.3. As one person who posted in another theme suggested I tried saving a Tiff of the lightroom changes which I did via Nik Efex (I do not know how to save a raw file as a Tiff in LR as I don't do it as part of my normal workflow) but it reverted to the totally unedited version of the raw file when it opened in CS4.
Is there a problem with LR3.3 that Adobe are keeping quiet on. There was no warning when I picked uop the 'updated software' message when I opened LR a short while back. Now I am unable to use either as the processing route I use in LR is very fast compared to CS4 (in my view) and I do not have the time to completely change my work flow. I could revert back to LR3.2 but that may lose all of my editing and cause me no end of problems.
As this is an Adobe forum I thought these problems would be discussed with a lot more answers.

  • Re editing a recorded action in PS cs4*

Hi, I threw these same words to the community forum and it returned nothing relevant to my query! Actually there were only 2 entries. However in Google I got many accurate and relevant answers, the problem is that it does not work for me. I know i would have been much quicker to re record the whole action to solve my problem.
My problem is that I made a new folder that I call "photo manipulation" and moved my "save" folder into it with the new droplet I created. So the action can not any longer save in its original path and my photos get stuck, not even manipulated in photoshop! ,
All I wanted was to add the new folder in the "save" path between two forward slashes.
The answer apparently is to double click on the action's relevant portion and enter the new value. As indicated in this segment "Overwrite a single command" as copied and pasted below.
"In the Actions panel, double-click the command. Enter the new values, and click OK."
This does not work for me - when I double click on an action command I get a pop up from "Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended" with the yellow exclamation mark and
[The command "SAVE" is not currently available] Continue   Stop
and there is nothing more happening whatsoever.
As said b4 I would have been faster to re record but I'm curious why this edit won't work for me thank you.

Is a file opened? I'm not too sure what you mean here. But I have got PS running I have dropped files in my droplette and as said they only get open in PS and the action seems to stop here as it does not recognise my new folder (of course it worked before). I do know this happens because I created an action to reduce photos by 25% before I made a new folder. then decided to do one for 50% but, to tidy my desktop put destination folders and droplets into this new folder (called "photos manipulation") then recorded my 50% action. As a result this one work but not the other.
And for Noel, I have my droplet and destination folders that used to be on the desk top, now on the desktop but in a new folder. and do understand my path in the action "save" should have this new folder included in it. So according to the instruction I saw, I though all I need to do is double click on the path of the save command and then include the new folder in the path.
Again I'm not sure about the meaning of "document being in the same context..." The way I see it, it's not any more in the same context since I have added a folder, but I thought this was the point to edit the command of an action, in this case to change the path to match its new and actual situation.
Obviously there is something I missed or don't understand in this process. Or perhaps editing in this situation does not work? Thank you for your help anyway.

  • CS4: PPro and Encore crash upon startup!

I have been using CS4 for a long time with no issues, but yesterday PPro and Encore started crashing upon starting up.
The screen for either one will load up, but in PPro the timeline pane will be ghosted and the system will just freeze if I click on anything in the PPro window, including the menu. Encore does the exact same thing as far as crashing if I click anything.
I have not installed any new programs and I shut down as many background tasks as possible, as I have always done.
If I reboot the computer after a crash, I get a popup window telling me that PhotoshopServer.exe has caused an exception, blah blah. I have NEVER had that before this crashing started.
I uninstalled the entire CS4 suite and reinstalled it. The installer kept giving me errors about some components not being installed correctly, so I ran the Adobe Support Advisor and it sent me to a link that instructed me to remove the Color Profiles. I did this and the installer continued with no further issues. I then installed all patches up to 4.2.1 with no issues. BTW, I did shutdown all of my antivirus/antispyware/firerwall programs first and copied any missing color profiles back to the Windows directory, as instructed without overwriting any existing ones from the new install.
I started the new installation for the first time after a reboot and shutting down everything in the background... instant crashes AGAIN!
I'm running out iof ideas and I have no idea what went wrong after using this suite for so long with no issues.
    Here's my computer specs:
    Asus Rampage II Extreme mobo
    Intel Core i7-920 @ 3.0 GHz.
3x1 GBs Kingston HyperX Tri-Channel 1800 MHz. RAM
    2 EVGA e-GeForce 9800 GTX+ 1 GB boards in SLI
2 WD 500GB SATA hard drives in RAID 0 (boot)
2 WD 500GB SATA hard drives in RAID 0 (storage)
PC Power & Cooling 1.2Kw PSU
Windows XP (32-bit) SP3 with all updates current.
Any help would be greatly appreciated -- I'm pulling my hair out here!
    Bill

It's probable that the Canon drivers are to blame rather than Adobe. The change in behavior may be due to another piece of software (driver, automatic update, etc) installed that now results in the Canon drivers loading into a different address space where whatever they were already wrong now has a negative consequence. Could also be related to the Canon drivers not dealing properly with ASLR (address space randomization feature in Windows) but that seems likely.

  • Edit in Audition is greyed out in PPro CC

Have an audio clip in my PPro CC timeline. Right-clicking it shows "Edit Clip in Adobe Audition" as greyed out.  (Edit video clip in After Effects works fine)

You need system specs for a software menu problem?  Ok, I'll play.
What version of Premiere Pro? Include the minor version number (e.g., Premiere Pro CS5.5 with the 5.5.2 update).
           - As mentioned above, Premiere Pro CC.
Have you installed the recent updates? (If not, you should. They fix a lot of problems.)
           - Everything available through AAM has been installed.
What operating system? This should include specific minor version numbers, like "Mac OSX v10.6.8"---not just "Mac".
           - Windows 8
What kind(s) of source footage? When telling about your source footage, tell us about the codecs, not just the container types. For example, "H.264 in a .mov container", not just "QuickTime".
           - WAV file.
If you are getting error message(s), what is the full text of the error message(s)?
           - As mentioned above, no error message. The option is greyed out in the menu.
What were you doing when the problem occurred?
           - As mentioned above, I was right-clicking the WAV file clip in the PPro CC timeline.
    Has this ever worked before?
           - Not in PPro CC, since PPro CC was just installed today.  It worked perfectly fine in PPro CS6.
What other software are you running?
           - No software other than background processes, and none of those interfered with the availability of this option in PPro CS6.
Do you have any third-party effects or codecs installed?
           - TechSmith codecs from Camtasia.
Tell us about your computer hardware. Be especially certain to tell us about third-party I/O hardware (e.g., AJA, Matrox, Blackmagic, MOTU).
           - i7-990x, 24GB RAM, SSD drives, nVidia 680GTX, Soundblaster Titanium.
Are you using Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration?
           - Yes.
Does the problem only happen with your final output, with previews, or both?
           - Not applicable.

  • Convert video files to editable format to use on PrPro CS4

    Hello,
    I'm using Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 v4.2.1 (I can't use CS5 because I have a 32-bit system). I'm running it on HP Pavilion dv9750, Windows 7, 2.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor T7500, 2GB RAM (DDR2) and NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS.
I'm planning to create a clip of about 4-5 minutes, that would be projected on a big screen. My sources are photos, WMV (from Windows Live Movie Maker), MOV (from iphone 4), and MP4 files. I must use these sources. I'm aware my computer is pretty weak, but that's all I have right now. I know I should convert these files to a more editable format. Which one would you recommend? I'm using Xilisoft Video Convertor Ultimate 6 to convert my files (Maybe there is a way to do it through PrPro?)
I was thinking of creating the project in 9:16 ratio. None of the files are in HD, so maybe I should create it 720p quality? Which preset would you recommend? Which output would you recommend?
Thanks in advance for your help!

There are a number of video apps available in the iTunes App Store that can easily handle those videos without any need for conversions. Do a search in the iTunes app on your computer for the file types and it will show video apps that can open those file types.
If VLC 2 ever makes it to the iTunes App Store, be sure to grab it, it will be free, I use VLC 1.1 on my iPad for avi files, but it is no longer available in the iTunes App Store.

  • Editing uneditable regions on template using CS4

I am updating an existing website using CS4.(I'm new at this) I went into the template made changes & saved it. None of the changes show up on the web pages. The update dialog box did not show up when I saved the changes.  When I went into the Asset file under templates there were none showing up.  But the template file is under the local files.  Obviously I'm missing something.  Please help.

I'll save the original poster some trouble.
Here are seven common mistakes that will result in changes not propagating from Template to child -
    1.  Rename the Templates folder
    2.  Move the Templates folder to some other folder level in the site other than root level
    3.  Move a template out of the Templates folder.
    4.  Make changes to an editable region of the Template (which will not propagate)
    5.  Assume that Template changes will be effected by just uploading the changed Template file to the server without also uploading the changed local files
    6.  Corrupt the site cache so that the link between Template and child page is broken
    7.  Improperly create your child pages by simply opening the Template, adding page specific content, and resaving the Template with an *.html extension rather thanits *.dwt extension. (you can tell if this is the case by looking at the code on a child page - if you see anything like <!-- TemplateBeginEditable... then this is what you have done).  If you *have done this*, then recreate the child pages (in DW) using FILE | New > Page from Template, select the Template and click CREATE.
The 6th problem can be repaired by using SITE | Advanced > Recreate Site Cache, and the six others can be fixed by just not doing them.  Have you done any of those?

  • Solo a Video Track CS4 Ppro.

    Gentlemen,
Does Premiere Pro CS4 has a way to SOLO a video track ?
What I mean by that is , let's say I have 20 video tracks and I wanna see only video track number 10 , I don't wanna go through uncheck other tracks to be able to see what I have on channel 10.
Sony vegas has a little button called "Solo Track" you press that and only that channel is playing, rest is OFF
    Thank You !

1/8th of a second is not nearly an accurate assessment of lost time.
Here is a real life video editing situation:
You have 20 video tracks. During the creation phase, 12 or so video tracks are 'eyeballed'-visible. 8 tracks are being hidden for the moment.
Now, you want to preview one track using the shift-eyeball method.
Sure, you can view the single track by clicking the eyeball a second time.
And, let's say you just made a SMALL ADJUSTMENT.
BUT! Now that you've finished previewing the temporary track, you want to un-solo the eyeball... and, return to the original 12 track ON and 8 track OFF setup.
    Premiere can't do this?
    So, you either
    a) have to memorize every OFF track so that you can return to your original state before the shift-eyeball solo method; or,
    b) don't make ANY adjustments after the solo because an UNDO to the original 12 ON, 8 OFF state will wipe out your small adjustments.
If there is a Real solution to solo-ing a track in CS4, please let me know. Because as an editor who uses many other software packages, I am very frustrated that I can't find an easy way to do something that is absolutely standard everywhere else.

  • Editing a .vob in Premiere Pro CS4 help!

Okay so I had the files for a dvd on my computer and was editing one of the .vob files in Premiere Pro. After I finished what I was doing I was going to re-save the file and burn it back to dvd, but I couldn't find a way to save/extract it as a .vob!
Is this possible and I just missed it somewhere?
If not possible, how could I do that? Encore maybe?
    Thanks a lot!!

Premiere Elements will do the Import, editing and then Burn to DVD (creating VOB's, plus the other necessary files and structure). It has some of the same editing capabilities as PrPro, plus a very limited authoring function.
Now for the caveat - you knew that one was coming, right? With a VOB, you have an MPEG-2 AV file, inside the VOB container. It has already been pretty heavily compressed. When you edit that material, and then Transcode it for another DVD-Video, you WILL be re-compressing that footage, and will loose quality. Some NLE programs do offer "smart rendering," but even then, if you do more than just cut the footage, like add Titles, Transitions, color correction, etc., even they will have to Transcode again, at least for the Clips, where you made changes. I think that Vegas Studio Pro offers smart rendering, as might some others. This you will have to research a bit, and read their statements carefully, to make sure what they are capable of and where there are limitations.
Note: a VOB is a delivery format/container. The MPEG-2 portion is not meant to be edited - just played on a set-top player, or a computer with a DVD software player. Cameras that produce miniDVD's are meant have those played only. They were never intended to be edited.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Editing old PC based Premiere Pro CS4 projects in PP CS5 for Mac

I recently switched to Mac to gain OS stability, while still using Premiere, which I like better than Final Cut Pro.  One big problem, I can't edit old projects that used AVI files in CS5 for the Mac.  Does anyone know how I can do this?

The only times I have seen BSOD's with Win7 was when pushing the limits with overclocking. XP and Vista were not as stable, I admit that.
OTOH, with around 20 times more PC users  than there are MAC users, the number of questions here from MAC users does not inspire confidence. But that is another topic.
In some way you need to get your old projects available for the MAC. You can try exporting to QuiRcktime from the PC, or use a visually lossless or uncompressed format and try to import that into the MAC.

  • Editing CSS, related files requires save (cs4)

You know what really Grinds My Gears? (family guy reference,
    lol)
When I edit the CSS in the right hand panel, sometimes it
makes the CSS file in the Related Files toolbar not saved with a *
next to the filename. Sometimes it goes ahead and just saves the
changes right away. Like most, I'm constantly switching back/forth
between browsers so CSS has to be saved to see changes.
Kindofa pain to have to click the css file in the related
toolbar and Ctrl+S to save before each preview...I haven't been
able to find out why it "dirties" the CSS file sometimes and other
times it directly saves to the CSS file.
Does anyone have any ideas? How to get it to always just save
    to the file?
    thanks

    avibodha,
Ah! Thanks for the additional details. I see what is causing
    this behavior.
When a document is opened, DW determines what the Related
    Files are, so
it can show the list of buttons for each one. But, for the
    sake of
performance, we do not actually load the files until you
    click on a
button to view a file. Note that the file may already be
    loaded as a
top-level document or as a Related File of some other
    document.
Since you have the "Open CSS files when modified" setting
    turned off,
then the CSS gets automatically saved to disk *if* the file
    has not yet
been loaded. Once the file has been loaded, then DW will not
automatically save it (to avoid writing something on disk
    that you don't
    want written).
So, you'll need to disable the Related Files feature to have
    DW always
automatically save the CSS to disk.
    HTH,
    Randy

  • Editing imported Photoshop layer in Flash CS4?

Hi, When I import a Photoshop layer into Flash, for my flash movie, it doesn't matter whether I import it as a bitmapped image with editable styles, a flattened bitmap, or a Flash Layer, etc (I've tried every option,,,,,)
I can't edit it in the sense that I am unable to go in and take the eraser tool and erase a section of the scene on that layer that wasn't created in Flash. I can draw on it in Flash and modify it that way. I can effect it via tweens enlarge, alpha transparency etc. But I can't erase part of the graphic that I created outside of Flash in Photoshop.
I've tried erasing on the graphic itself, also after it's converted to a movie clip - inside the movie clip's timeline etc. It doesn't work. As I said , I can draw on it and effect it but I can't erase part of what was already in it before it was imported from PS4.
Is this a characteristic of Flash or am I doing something wrong?
Please let me know and thanks,
    Sarah

I think I've got it. The original graphic is a bitmap. So, I need to "break it apart" which converts it to vectors. Then I can "erase" from there. Probably, I'll end up doing this editing part in PS4.
Sorry everyone, I'm still new to this and as you can tell, still barely scratching the surface of Flash. If anyone wants to comment, please do so because I truly get lost in space and a heads up letting me know I'm going in the right direction would be great!
Believe it or not I have Flash books, I actually read them, and take courses via dvd. But I couldn't get anywhere close to completing my projects without the help I get from these forums.
    Thanks!

  • Edit bitmap, remove background in Flash CS4?

HI folks, I tried to drag in from Photoshop a layer with an image and transparent background, but it turns white in Flash, so I imported the image from psd. However, the black background is interfering with the placement of the image. In OLD flash, there used to be a magic wand and the ability to select areas of the bitmap and delete, but it seems that the feature is now missing or hidden in new flash.  I turned the image into bitmap and I don't want to trace it, because it is a photo. So, without tracing, how do you now edit the image as I'm trying to do?
    Thanks
    Jeff

You wouldn't believe how long it took me to find in in the new tool panel!  I haven't used flash that much in a  couple of years, and nothing I typed into the help menu led me to the correct wording or place to find the tool!  Thanks
    Jeff
