Edit a link in Acrobat MacIntosh

Ok, I give up.  How do you edit a link in Acrobat MacIntosh?  The link is the word "here" as in click here.  So this is a text link I want to change.  I am using 7.1.0.

You can't just bound an area and stop there. Decide what you want the link to do: Open a page in the current document, Open another file or Open a web page. For the latter, you must type in, or paste in, a complete URL (include the http://) and then close the dialog box. You should be able to single click in the new area to Open your newly established link. If you want the link area to have a different appearance, with the Link Tool still active, double click the new area and choose the Appearance tab and make your decisions and close the Properties box. There's not much else to it.  Don

  • Editing links in Acrobat 9 Professional

In Acrobat 9 Pro., if I create hyperlinks from URLs in a document by going to Advanced | Document Processing | Create Links from URLs, it sometimes does not create some of the links properly and thus I need to edit some. In acrobat 8, to do this I would simply select the link tool from the toolbar. The link rectangle would then appear for each link. For the link I wanted to edit I would double click on that link and then proceed to edit it.
But in Acrobat 9, when I select the link tool, no link rectangles appear. How do I make the link rectangles visible?

I think Bernd was asking 1. Formatted text and graphics, 2. Searchable Image, or 3. Searchable Image (exact) that are the 3 options in AA8. With the searchable image, you may be able to edit the text, but it will remain hidden (the screen display is an image). With formatted text and graphics there is sometimes a problem because an outline font is used that can not be used for editing. You might be able to change the font and then edit -- I have not spent a lot of time with the option.

  • Changing video links in Acrobat 9.0

I have several pdfs that contain links to video files on my server. However, I have now changed my hosting company, so the links no longer work.
Is there any way of editing the links in my pdfs to direct them to the Flash files on the new server? Or do I have to insert all the videos again from scratch?

Not within Acrobat - once a Rich Media annotation has been created there is no access to change the source file, even if it's a remote URL.
You can do it by hand, though if the PDF is large it will take some care:
    - Open Preflight from the Advanced menu and choose Single Fixups (the wrench symbol).
    - Select "Remove document structure compression" from the Document panel, and click FIX. Give it a new name.
    - Open the uncompressed PDF file in a professional text editor which can process large binary files (such as Notepad++). Do NOT use Word!!
    - Search for all instances of your old URL, and replace them with the new one*
    - Save the modified file and re-open it in Acrobat. Save it again to apply recompression.
    * The patterns you'll be matching are FlashVars strings passed to the VideoPlayer widget, and will look something like this:
    <</Binding 55 0 R/FlashVars(source=http://www.helpexamples.com/flash/video/cuepoints.flv&skin=....
The number "55" will be different in your case and there'll be one match for each remote-linked video in the PDF.

I there anyway I can do this one an enterprise wiki site?
    Thanks
    James T.F

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to edit the links in the top navigation bar on an enterprise wiki site.
I try to reproduce the issue, however, my enterprise wiki site don’t have the drop down menu.
How did you add the Recent link?
How did you create the drop down menu?
Did you use the seattle master page or olso master page?
It will be better if you can descript more detail and provide some screenshots.
You can use JavaScript to add and remove the items in the drop down menu.

  • Is there an "Edit Object Tool" in Acrobat 11?

Is there an "Edit Object Tool" in Acrobat 11 that is comparable to the Edit Object Tool in Acrobat 10 and earlier versions?  Has it been discontinued, or split into 2 loosely connected tools, the new Edit Text and Images Tool?
I love the new Edit Text Tool in Acrobat 11, but the old Edit Object Tool in Acrobat 10 and earlier versions was great when I wanted to resize a block of objects.  The old Edit Object Tool would resize both text and graphic objects, but not everything like form fields, although there are limited workarounds like printing the file to pdf to flatten it and then resizing, but doing so will discard the form fields.
When using the old Edit Object Tool to resize a group of objects that contain text, it will scale the text in proportion to everything else in the selection.  The new Edit Text and Images Tool in Acrobat 11 does not resize or scale the text.  It does change the size of the text containers, but the text does not resize.
There are situations where it is valuable to resize a group of objects that contain both text and images, but I can't get the new tool to do it, or I'm not operating the tool correctly.  Is this functionality gone in version 11, or am I doing something wrong or using the wrong tool?
I initially upgraded both of my laptop workstations from Acrobat 10 to 11, but have now gone back to running Acrobat 10 on one machine and Acrobat 11 on the other so I can realize the great new functionality of the new Acrobat 11 Text Tools without losing the valuable functionality of the Edit Object Tool in earlier versions.
I posted a 5 star positive review on Amazon at:
    http://www.amazon.com/review/R3GAQNISK3WR4S/ref=cm_cr_pr_viewpnt#R3GAQNISK3WR4S
but I might have to drop it to 4 stars if the old functionality has been discarded
Clarification or guidance would be appreciated.

Dave, Thank you for the accurate and effective information.  I added the icon to my toolbar.

  • Is it possible to disable the 'edit layout' link on the record detail page

Is it possible to disable the 'edit layout' link on the record detail page? Not the homepages, I know there is a switch for that, but I thought there was one for the detail pages?
I want to disable this as I dont want users saving their own layouts, they must stick to the related sections defined in the default layout. The problem is that if they are to have access to certain related lists when an opportunity is of a certain type but NOT other types. If they have saved the layout (using the 'Edit Layout' link), and change the record type, they will see related sections that have been set to 'Not available' in the default layout (ie step 4) for that 'type'.

Robbo, at this time it not possible to disable the Edit Layout on the record detail page.

  • While editing a scanned pdf, Acrobat will not recognize the current font & change to very different font. How can I choose the font I want to match the current document?

While editing a scanned pdf, Acrobat will not recognize the current font & change to very different font. How can I choose the font I want to match the current document?

Thanks for answering. The version is XI.0.10. I just did the update yesterday hoping that I could now properly edit a scanned pdf document. Yes, it's happening on most all scanned documents. I followed your steps & found the list of fonts used in the document & then attempted to edit. The same occurs. When I type in a correction, I get an error alert... "the original font (in this case Fd 5805) is not available or can't be used in editing. Acrobat is using the font Minion Pro in its place."
When I select the text & right click as you suggested, my only choices are cut, copy, delete or select all, no "edit text".
I have no other options to choose another font. Thanks for any help you can direct my way.

  • WPC Problem after creation of new Site - no "Edit Page" Link available

    Hello,
I have a problem with WebPageComposer (WPC) and Edit Page link.
We are currently on EP 7.01 SP6.
(I have the wpc_editor_role for my user)
    I am doing the following:
    1) I create a new site, (derived permissions for all folders is wpc_editor_role - Full Control),
    2) I Create some article within its Site Content folder
    3) I create a new web page in its Web Pages folder
    4) assign the article to the web page and publish it
    5) add web page within Site Navigation as a new node
    6) I used Publish Site Navigation
After clicking on the web page within Web Pages folder it does a preview.
Our older WPC content does display the Edit Page link - the new one does not.
What step am I missing here?
Maybe it is an upgrade issue?
    Best Regards, Thomas
P.S.: copying one of our older WPC pages into my new site + renaming it via KM + removing old content + assigning new one does display the correct link after publishing it! Any indeas?

    Dear Thomas,
It sounds like your are doing all the right actions, I don't think that your missing any step in the process, but please consider the following.
Are you using a custom WPC layout template? The reason I ask is that I have developed a number of WPC custom templates and in some circumstances I have needed to remove/hide the "pageheader" section of the template. This action removed the links from displaying at the top of the page. Try creating and publishing a web page using a SAP standard WPC layout and see if the edit link appears once the page is published.
The editing and preview page views do not display the "edit" link, they only display the other page header links that can be assigned to a page. The edit link is only visible when viewing the page via the portal, not in edit mode. Another question, was the deployment of KMCWPC successful and without error? I have experienced issues where the deployment did not fully complete, causing some subtle issues regarding publishing of WPC content and redeploying KMCWPC fixed the issue. I hope this helps.
    Best Regards,
    Chris

  • Edit a form in Acrobat but NOT in Designer

I have Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.1.7 on Windows XP SP3. What I want to know is how to edit a form in Acrobat without using LiveCycle Designer. Here's the issue: with a PDF open (generated via either a print job or File>Create PDF) under the Forms menu the first option is 'Create New Form...' and the second - greyed out - is 'Edit Form in Acrobat'. The problem is that if I run the option 'Create New Form...' then when I return to the menu the second option - now available - is 'Edit Form in Designer'... but I don't want to use Designer I want to use Acrobat. What do I have to do to make the 'Edit Form in Acrobat' option available? Thank you.

    Bernd,
    THANK YOU!
If only the Help explained so simply and well for those of us who have barely used Acrobat...
    Best regards,

  • Is it possible to edit a pdf with Acrobat Pro XI that was created in LiveCycle?

I downloaded a trial version of LiveCycle awhile back. I created several forms. The trial period ended and I would like to change something. When I try to edit the pdf in Acrobat Pro it tells me that I must use LiveCycle to edit it. Is there a workaround for this? Thank you in advance for any replies.
    Dana

No, all LCD forms can only be edited in LCD.
And the second trial is probably not going to work, unless you install it
    on a different computer.
The best way to salvage your form, in my experience, is to print it to the
Adobe PDF printer, creating a new flat PDF file and then running the Form
Detection Wizard in Acrobat on it and continuing from there. It probably
won't do a perfect job, but it should recognize some of the fields.

  • Link for Acrobat X pro

I can't find the link for Acrobat X pro free trial download, because my computer doesnt have the required system preferences for acrobat XI...what to do?

I suspect that free trial is withdrawn. Adobe no longer sell Acrobat X, so a free trial would just be a tease...

  • Editing Forms in Adobe Acrobat XI

How do I create a form in FormsCentral, save it in an editable PDF version, and edit it in Adobe Acrobat Pro XI?

In FormsCentral save the form as PDF using File-> Save as PDF Form...  If you do not intend for the form to use FormsCentral to collect responses then in the resulting dialog select button Don't Collect Responses.  Open the resulting file in Acrobat Pro and use File-> Save a Copy...  Open the copy in Acrobat Pro and select Tools-> Forms.  You should now be able to edit the form.

Currently, Adobe Reader for Android does not provide an option to disable auto-save.
In the Reader home screen (where your files are displayed), you can make a copy of the original PDF document, open the copy (instead of opening the original document), make changes to the copy.  Once you email the copy, you can delete it.
For more information, please see Help > How To... > Copy, edit, delete, manage.
Although it is not the most convenient way to accomplish the task, that's the only feasible workaround that is available in Adobe Reader for Android right now.
