Changing SSH port in Cisco switches
Hello everyone
I have switches with different platforms 2950 , 3750 , 3560 ...... I want to change the port of SSH , but the command ip ssh port not found ... be informed that the IOS is ipservice type for layer 3 switchesSorry but you cannot change the port (tcp/22) used by ssh on Cisco switches.
The best practices for securing it it include:
- enforce ssh version 2,
- apply an access-list to your vty lines,
- set a timeout and retry lockout, and
- possibly control plane policing. -
Displaying user name after editing banner...
I edit the banner's greeting to <center><FONT color=#004080>Welcome to MyCompany</FONT></center>. Now it doesn't show the user name. How can I show the user name again?
Wherever you want the user's name to appear in the banner, put the following:
#USER.FULLNAME#
For example, if you write:
Welcome #USER.FULLNAME# to the Funny Farm Portal, it should display
Welcome Mike Smith to the Funny Farm Portal.
I hope this is what you were looking for. -

How to update ssh v2 on ssh v3?Hello @nzhanaev01,
SSH 3.0 is just a client version, till now the official protocols are SSHv1 and SSHv2. Refer to the below link.
Also for further information about SSH you can consult into the RFC4253

Frontpage 2003 Dreamweaver Editing banner text
I imported a Frontpage 2003 website into Dreamweaver. I've created a new page by copying an existing page. Everything is correct except the banner shows the page name of the original page I copied. How do I edit this text to make it correct? Should I have created the page in a different way? If so how do you make the new page have the same navigation look as the other pages on the site?
I am sure the problem is an activation one. They can help. Don't talk to sales - this is not a sales situation.
Agreed.
Use Live Chat and ask customer care rep to de-activate CS5 from your old computer so you can install it on your new one. Simple, simple.

Cisco prime 2.2.0 "Telnet/SSH : Unreachable"
Hi,
I've installed the Cisco Prime 2.2.0 OVA (VMware) and ran discovery with a Credential Profile.
some of the device has discovered with complete state and some with Partial Collection Failure state.
when trying to edit the device (under network inventory) and verify credentials i'm getting the above error "Telnet/SSH : Unreachable", but when SSH from the Cisco Prime CLI with the same credentials all works just fine.
%SSH-5-SSH2_SESSION: SSH2 Session request from X.X.X.X (tty = 1) using crypto cipher '', hmac '' Failed
please help...

EyalHi Afroz,
All of my net devices use AAA for login.
I'm using credentials profile to discover my devices and some of them has discovered as they should and some of them are partialy discover with the Cisco Prime log it with CLI/ssh issue.
But when I'm SSH to the partialy discovered device via the Cisco Prime CLI with the same credentials as configured at the credential profile, I'm able to login with no issue.
Please note - while I'm editing the partialy discovered device and testing the credential via the Prime GUI, it display the error message "Telnet/SSH : Unreachable" - and the device log meeage is %SSH-5-SSH2_SESSION: SSH2 Session request from X.X.X.X (tty = 1) using crypto cipher '', hmac '' Failed.
What does it mean?

Edit link in item region portlet is displayed with unwanted banner
I have several item repositories in the form of pages published as portlets. When adding these portlets I often check the option to display the edit link. When the link is displayed on the page it always shows up with a banner in a completely different color than what is set in the page style. How do I get rid of this, or where can i find the default setting for this so I can hard code it to white or something?
You cannot change the style of the edit banner in the page portlet.

Jerry

Edition of a cisco .cfg file
Hi,
I would like to edit .cfg configuration file of Cisco SLM2008. However, I can't read the file because I don't have a good editor(.cfg is a binary file).
Someone can help me?
Thanks!Hi,
If I recall from my deep long history those files were binary files and you could only change the configuration via the GUI.

Cisco router + SSH ?
Does a Cisco router support SSH? How to configure?
Cisco routers support SSH. However, you need to have an IPSEC encryption image running on the router. Configuring SSH on a router is a simple process.
Use this link to configure SSH:

Cisco IDS 4250XL - SSH protocol versions supported
I recently had a vulnerability scan completed and "SSH protocol versions supported" showed up in it for my IDS. Has anyone come across this and if so, how am I able to mitigate it. Is there a way to change the SSH version on the device?
What vulnerability is being asserted in the OpenSSH implementation of SSH protocol version 1?
I have not seen a new problem discovered in more than three years in the SSH protocol version 1. OpenSSH-3.7.1p2 contains all the fixes for all vulnerabilities that I am aware.
When a vulnerability assessment recommends shutting down SSH protocol version 1, they need to back it up with some facts to show that SSH1 as implemented in the IDS 4.x sensor is insecure.
=====
That having been said, you can disable SSH protocol version 1 by editing /etc/ssh/sshd_config and restarting the service. What you will lose is the ability to manage keys in the IDS CLI. So you cannot use authorized keys to log into the sensor.
The "copy scp:..." and "upgrade scp:..." commands will fail. When you start an SSH2 client, it will refuse to connect to the remote server because it won't trust the host key.
You also won't be able to manange network devices to perform blocking using the SSH protocol. -
ASA 5510 with Cisco 2811 Router Behind it - Not forwarding traffic
Hi all,
Some might know that I have been dealing with an issue where I cannot seem to get forwarded packets to reach their destinations behind an ASA 5510 that has a Cisco 2811 connected directly behind it.
Some examples that work.
I can SSH into the ASA.
I can SSH to the Cisco Routers behind the ASA.
I cannot reach items beind the Cisco Routers.
My Configuration is this (I am sure I included a bunch of info I didn't need to, but I am hoping it'll help!):
I have a static Ip assigned to my Ouside Interface Ethernet 0/1
It has an IP address of 199.195.xxx.xxx
I am trying to learn how to shape network traffic (this is all new to me) via the ASA and the Routers to specific devices.
The Inside Interface on the ASA is 10.10.1.1 255.255.255.252
The Outside Interface on the 2811 is 10.10.1.2 255.255.255.252
I can ping the router from the ASA. I can SSH through the ASA to the router.
BUT I CANNOT ACCESS DEVICES BEHIND THE ROUTER.
So, I wanted to BAM that statement above because I just don't kjnow where the issue is. Is the issue on the router or the ASA, my guess is, the router, but I just don't know.
Here are my configs, helpfully someone can help.
ASA errors on the ASDM when I try and hit resources; specifically a web device behind the ASA and the 2811. It's Ip address 192.168.1.5 it's listening on port 80.Static IP, not assigned via DHCP.

no message-leI ran those commands while I had the nat off on the router and here are the results. note, i didn't make any changes to the ASA as you only said to remove the router RIP which I did and reloaded and no change.
As long as the statements ip nat outside on the Fastethernet 0/0 is off and the ip nat inside is off on the vlan and the overload statement is taken out, I cannot hit the internet.

Kindly reply your viewsI believe that the key to understanding your problem is to recognize the subtle difference between authentication and authorization. The authentication process appears that it does succeed but the authorization process has failed according to your error message:
% Authorization failed.
I see that most of your authorization commands include the parameter if-authenticated. But this command does not:
aaa authorization config-commands
I would suggest that you add the if-authenticated parameter to this command and see if it does not fix your problem.

When I open terminal and do sash [email protected] it says warning rsa key not recognized to go to known-hosts file which ican not grt into I have download pico but am not sure how to launch it or what I ave to do.
sibeen, please stop starting new posts when you are really just continuing the first post. "Reply" to one of your existing posts when you are really just continuing the same question. If I have not lost count, you have posted 3 times about this same ssh rsa host key issue, and Linc Davis and I have been trying to keep track of all the details, but with it spread out across multiple new posts, it is difficult.
I'm guessing as you again forgot to post the actual error (I'm starting to wonder if you are testing how well Linc and I can guess at your problem ). Anyway, I'm guessing that you managed to delete the $HOME/.ssh/known_hosts file, and now when you try to ssh to 10.0.0.2 it wants to add the remote system's host rsa key into a newly created known_hosts file.
The authenticity of host '[10.0.0.2]:22([10.0.0.2]:22)' can't be established.
RSA key fingerprint is xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx.
Are you sure you want to continue connecting (yes/no)?
Generally the command ask if you want to do this, yes or no. You type "yes" and your Mac memorizes the remote system's host rsa key.
If this is not the warning message you are seeing, then as Linc has requested, please post the exact error (feel free to mask put the actual key or usernames or IP addresses, but keep the words.
If you are still getting the original error from 3 posts ago, then I would not try editing $HOME/.ssh/known_hosts, and instead just delete the file, and when you get a message like I have posted above, answer it with "yes".
WIth respect to pico, Mac OS X already has pico installed, so there was no need to download it from anywhere. However, most people just use 'nano' which has essentially replaced 'pico' as an easy to use Terminal based text editor. But like I said, I think you will be happier if you just delete the known_hosts file and get on with your ssh operations.
Finally, I think in your 2nd post you indicated you tried deleting a file that had a dash in the name (known-hosts) instead of an underscore (known_hosts). If that was just a typo when you entered your post, and you were really getting you cannot delete a directory, then something is seriously wrong, or you accidentally allowed a space to be inserted between .ssh and known_hosts. Personally, I'm going with you actually entered a space and the 'rm' command thought you wanted to delete the .ssh directory instead of $HOME/.ssh/known_hosts. I could be wrong, but using copy and paste to post actual Terminal screen output as well as the command you entered would be very helpful to anyone trying to provide useful information. In other words, help us help you. -
