Edit Chart of Account

Hi Experts,
I want to shift one GL account from assets to liabilities.
The account which I want to transfer is a control accunt & also used in GL account determination, during implementation this account was wrongly placed in liabilities however this has to be placed in asstes drawer.
when I try to relocate the account there is a message as follows
Cannot transfer reconc. account to another group  [Message 750-21]
So, need your help how to resolve this issue.
Regards,
Waqas

Hai!
This is the solution proposed by SAP Support...
The issue is reproducible in a India demo DB for both versions 2005B PL45 and 2007B PL11.
Currently this is the current system behaviour for both versions as the account Goods Received not invoice clearing (GRNI) has been defined under GL Account determination-stock tab and also WH account ing tab .
Nevertheless after further investigation we managed to move the account to the expenditure drawer. Find below a workaround which allow the system move the account to the expediture drawer.
1.Remove the account 208040 from GL account determination - stock tab and also from any Warehouse definition
2.Go to Edit Chart of account and select Liabilities and Expenditure drawer.
3.Set the account 208040 as Level 2 and update
4.Move the account to expediture account
Please be aware that this change will have accounting consequences (e.g P&L report...) therefore makes sure customer accountant agree about this change. Please check the attach note 812315.

  • Chart of accounts

    Hi,
While creating PO, i'm getting following error.
Define a chart of accounts first for company code MP00
kindly give the menu path for the same.

    Hello,
A chart of account is nothing but a list containing all the G/L accounts. Every company code should be assigned to a chart of account.
ie for us to use a G/L account in a company code, it should be there in the chart of account assigned for that company code.
Chart of account creation and assignment of it to the company code is done by FI people. It is better to consult with your FI person for the same.
    The steps are :
    SPRO - Financial accounting - G/L accounting - GL accounts - Master records - Preprations - Edit chart of accounts list  - T.Code : OB13
SPRO - Financial accounting - G/L accounting - GL accounts - Master records - Preparations - assign company code to chart of accounts T.Code : OB62.

    Regards,
    Senthil Nattamai Sekar

    Dear Senthil,
    Chart of accounts
A classification scheme consisting of a group of general ledger (G/L) accounts.
A chart of accounts provides a framework for the recording of values to ensure an orderly rendering of accounting data. The G/L accounts it contains are used by one or more company codes.
For each G/L account, the chart of accounts contains the account number, the account name, and technical information.
A chart of accounts must be assigned to each company code. This chart of accounts is the operative chart of accounts and is used in both financial accounting and cost accounting. Other charts of accounts include:
    Country-specific charts of accounts -
These are structured in accordance with legal requirements of the country in question
    Group chart of accounts -
This is structured in accordance with requirements pertaining to Consolidation.
IMG path do define and assign chart of accounts is
SPRO>IMG>Finnancial accounting>General Ledger Accounting>G/L Accounts>Master Records>Preparations>Edit Chart of Accounts List>Assign Company Code to Chart of Accounts
I hope it will help you,
    Regards,
    Murali.

  • Creating a new chart of Accounts within R/3 4.6

What is the path I need so that I can create a new Chart of Accounts for a newly created company, in Financials.  I want to create a new startup set of books, i.e. Profit and Loss account, the Balance Sheet, and set up the General Ledger with the initial Capital accounts..  The Company code has already been created, but that is all.
The path headings in my course manual for R/3 are out of date and totally different to R/3 4.6.

    Hi,
Path for creating chart of accounts is
    1)SPRO>financial accounting>General ledger accounting>G/L accounts>Master recards>Preparations>Edit chart of accounts
2)Assign chart of accounts to comapny code
    )SPRO>financial accounting>General ledger accounting>G/L accounts>Master recards>Preparations>Assign company code to chart of accounts.
Note:- We can assign one chart of accounts to several company codes

  • Changing chart of account by DI API

    Hi,
Is this possible to change a Chart Of Account by the DI API and if so what does it do.  Does it change it everywhere that the old chart of account was used ?

ChartOfAccounts is a business object that represents the General Ledger (G/L) accounts in the Finance module.
    This object enables you to:
    Add a G/L account.
Retrieve a G/L account by its key.
    Update a G/L account.
    Remove a G/L account.
Save the object in XML format.
    Source table: OACT.
    Object Model
    Remarks
The Chart of Accounts is an index of all G/L accounts that are used by one or more companies. For every G/L account there is an account number, an account description, and information that determines the function of the account.
You have to assign a Chart of Accounts to every company. This Chart of Accounts becomes operative after you carry out posting for these businesses in your daily business.
After choosing the most suitable Chart of Accounts, you can customize your choice by adding, adjusting, and changing. However, once posting were made to Chart of Accounts you cannot delete it.
Mandatory fields in SAP Business One: Code or FormatCode (when working with account segmentation), and FatherAccountKey.
To display the form in the application:
Select Financials --> Chart of Accounts (or Edit Chart of Accounts).
In the SDK I don't se any mention if the change is made in all the documents that were posted, I mean, its important to be sure that if I change the COA that it effectively changes it everywhere.

  • Weird Chart of Accounts

    Hi,
I have imported my client's Chart of Accounts into SAP Business One 2007A. After import, everything was fine and the active accounts were all in their respective levels and properly organized. However, a few months later, some of the level 5 active accounts shifted by itself to level 2 and are no longer in their respective positions in the Chart of Accounts tree.
I have checked the change log and there was no indication of any modifications by users. The last logged action was our import activity via DTW. However, compared to our pre-golive database which has the same log instance, the position of the said active account have now changed to level 2. We definitely did nothing and as far as I am concerned, the only way it can shift is via the edit Chart of Accounts.
    What could have caused this?
    Regards,
    Alvin

    Hi Bishal,
No upgrades done. Restarting the server did not solve the problem because I am able to replicate the problem on my own side.
So, you are saying that when you edit chart of accounts, no logs will be made?
In that case, I am not sure if someone is messing around but it is quite unlikely as only the Finance personnel have access to the Chart of Accounts.
Yea, I guess the only option is to edit the Chart of Accounts again. Is there anyway we can mass edit the Chart of Accounts like moving multiple GL Accounts instead of doing it one by one?

  • Urgent : Doubt in Chart of accounts & Report generating

    Hi Gurus,
Hope all are doing well !!
I have a doubt in generating Balance sheet & Financial statement report for country specific COA.
    The Scenario is like this:
We have 3 Company codes and all company codes are assigned with single operating chart of acconts.
In one company code there is an addtional requirement of maintaining country specific COA.
All three company codes are maintaining same Group (consolidated) chart of accounts.
    Now my question is :
How to generate FS report for Country specific COA for the Company code along with the operating COA? And also would be helpful if you can explain me how it can also be for Group chart of account.
As per my understanding once you assign an operating COA to a co code and account determination is done, the table SKB1 (GL master co code segment)will get linked to the respective co code and you may not be able to creat data in co code segment of GL master record for another COA (Viz.Country specific COA). There is no such customisation has given to adopt this. Probably there should be some report or program need to be executed to copy the relevant table and country templates.
It would be helpful if you can provide some documentation on this please forward it to me.
Thanks in advance for your valuable suggestions.
    Best regards,
    Sudheer

In IMG, under 'Global parameters for company code', you need to mention the country chart of Accounts in one of the fields.
In the GL master, you need to fill in the Alternate Account number field with the Account from the country COA.
As for reporting,COA is one of the selection criteria for any standard report anyway.
    Hope this helps
    Thanks

  • Chart of Accounts out of order

    Hi Guys,
I have encountered this issue with several clients, where the chart of accounts got rearranged in such a way that the accounts got mixed up.  The change log is grayed out (inactive) so we can't determine if there is any user who edited the chart of accounts.  We believe something triggered the change, we just need to identify the cause.  I have seen another issue like these posted on the forums but the last update on that thread was 2008.  I hope you guys can help.
    Thanks,
    Kaoru

    hI,
You can trace out this with Transport request.
In fact  we can not change chart of accounts directly in production system be cause it is configuration step.
when did you find the dis order of chart of accounts?
Based on that date you can get the TP request and check with whom ID TP was created.
    Thanks,

  • Maximum length for Chart of Accounts

    hi experts,
In chart of accounts max  length is 10. generally all are taken 6, if we take any other number other than 6 how is effect and how it works can you explain clerly ? pls explain effects wit all, like 1234578910
Edited by: Lakshmipathi on Jan 4, 2012 7:02 PM
    Please use the subject effectively

    Hi,
You can take any numbers considering that the number would be sufficient to accomodate the requirement of the company; even 3,4,5. You can even include alphabets in that. There is no hard rule that it should be 6, but the maximum is 10. Generally companies choose from 6-8; and for consolidated/group account even 10.
Please let us know if you need any further details.

  • Alternative chart of accounts

    Hi Masters,
I have two Chart of Accounts 1) main COA  2) alternative COA
How entry will flow to these 2 a/cs.
    Alternatine coa is country speciffic.
    regards,
    Ani

    Dear Michal,
I'm relaxed after looking at your thread related to Alternative Chart of Accounts since I have got into same problem.
NB: Apologies for not opening up a new thread as against forum rules. This is because I may not be able to get Michal's response in time, if I deviate from this thread.
My Client Requirement: In Spain, for the year 2008, the Spanish Chart of Accounts (country COA) has been changed and due to this, we have to change corresponding alternative accounts of several GL accounts (range includes Reconciliation accnouts with Open Item Mgnt, Accounts managed with 'Post Automatically only' and Normal accounts).
Problem is quite obvious that these GL accounts have balances....
    Michal,
Can you please forward ABAP code that you have been using to get rid of this situation? I would really be gratefully if you can do this needful.
    Regards
    Mahesh

    Hi,
    1. chart of accounts--> common set of accounts.
    2. Group of acts--> group chart of acts.
Generally we use common set of acts.
    For common set of A/c-->OB13.
For A/C groups>OBD4>new entries> give your chart of A/C, A/C group, name, from A/C and to A/c> SAVE.
Assigning company code to chart of accounts-->OB62.
    Thanks.
If this helps you please reward with points.

  • Report for chart of accounts by transaction

    Hi All,
I am looking for Report for chart of accounts by transaction. Could any one suggest me which report it is.
    Thanks,
    JP

    There are the answers.
    1. It is enough if you generate data model and activate it.
    2. With regard to Chart of Accounts, entity of COA, ACCOUNT, ACCCCDET should be mostly involved.
    3. You don't need to generate tables at all because after you activate the data model, all correlative tables will be generated automatically according to the definition of the data model.
In transaction SE38, run program USMD_DATA_MODEL, you can see all generated table for your data model.
If you have other questions, please feel free to let me know.
