Edit code crashes Dreamweaver

I'm pretty new at this so there's lot I don't know yet...
When I try to edit right in code view, it crashes
Dreamweaver.
Also when I try to open up the code view it says "Exception
thrown in native function" what does that mean?

Line CSS Code Crashes Dreamweaver CS4

Steps to reproduce bug:
1. Open dreamweaver, and start a new CSS file
2. Write this code, do not copy paste :

#tepe, #rightpanel,
3. While writing the code, Dreamweaver crashes. In some cases, even thought i was able to fully write the code, trying to save or closing Dreamweaver also crashed.
3a. Save this code to a file with notepad and open with dreamweaver. Dreamweaver crashes.
Try it yourself...

Strange, mine crashed instantly.
What I did is write the code in texteditor, saved it as test.css and then opened the file in DW CS4.

Editing Code in Dreamweaver

I started out designing my website in dreamweaver but then switched to Microsoft Expression. After working with ME for a while, I want to go back to dreamweaver. For some reason, the code does not load up properly in dreamweaver when doing the split or design view. What could cause this? It is almost like the tables are not filling our or being displayed. Yes. This is apparently a bug in CS5 - if you try to convert to a doctype that is already on the page, nothing happens. To get the conversion to proceed properly, you would need to first convert to XHTML 1.0, and then back to HTML 4.01.
Anyhow, the reason the page is not displaying properly in DW is that your table code is flawed. Open this page in DW - http://www.jewelryboxavenue.com/Wooden-Jewelry-Boxes_c_13.html - scroll in Code view to line 183, and look at the code. You have this -

That's an invalid structure - you cannot have </td> without a corresponding <td>. Adding it will dramatically improve DW's rendering of the page.

How do I edit my Android Apps Code in dreamweaver? As well I can't find any of the App options that I keep hearing about in my cloud based Dreamweaver.....

I already have an app that I paid someone to make but I needed to make some changes to the code and wanted to do it in Dreamweaver. How is it best to load my code into Dreamweaver, navigate through it, and find the code I need to change? As well my version of Dreamweaver ( It the new Cloud based ) doesn't have any of the App features. Do I need to load it differently or something?

It really depends on how the app was developed and loaded. DW can help with web interfaces and some parts of the app development, but depending on the complexity and language of the app you may need additional tools like Xcode (Apple) in order to modify the app.

Editing text in Dreamweaver CS4 on Mac 10.6.2 causes paragraph ends to disappear.
When adding bold in design view (strong) to two words at the start of my paragraph the last line of the paragraph disappears. This is somewhat worrying as it means any editing I do in dreamweaver could do massive amounts of damage to the content.
We are pasting the original content into the code view so as to strip the formating Dreamweaver then decides to take the last line break in the source code paragraph and then delete it see example below:

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Nunc et orci eu augue condimentum sodales quis id mauris. Nam enim nisi, convallis eu volutpat non, malesuada quis nulla. Sed auctor nulla et tellus vehicula lacinia interdum odio lobortis vehicula lacinia interdum odio.
So when applying Strong with the Bold button in the design view to the first words 'Lorem ipsum' the last part of the paragraph 'lobortis vehicula lacinia interdum odio' will be deleted. Bizare and very dangerous especially for Annual Report content.
Any experience of similar or solutions would be greatly received.
PS. I have restarted, repaired permissions, checked dreamweaver is up to date trashed plist's and removed duplicate fonts.

In all honesty, I just tried pasting text into the Design section of a page.
It doesn't even work on my Mac, and it took three tries to get it to actually paste in VIsta.
I had to go to the code and reformat it after it did paste, but it eventually went.
I don't work with templates much.
Well, that actually makes me feel a little better, if it makes sense to feel better to learn that it could be the expensive software and not just us. I guess I will view this as an opportunity to improve me coding speed :-) Thanks for the feedback.

Not sure if this is a Fireworks or Dreamweaver problem but
here goes.
I¹ve created a graphic in Fireworks CS3 on the Mac and
Exported the HTML and
related images. I open the HTML file in Dreamweaver CS3, all
fine so far.
Then I highlight the table and click the Edit in
Fireworks¹ button and it
throws up a warning dialogue saying Cannot launch and
edit. The Fireworks
table could not be found in the HTML. Please export from
Fireworks and
re-import the HTML into Dreamweaver.¹
What?!!
I¹ve only just exported it from Fireworks! It¹s
even got the Fireworks table
code in the Code section, so what¹s going here?
Has anyone else had this?

Please help - index.html file crashes Dreamweaver and others

Hello -
I went to open my tried and true index file today and it crashed Dreamweaver every time. I then tried to open it in TextEdit and Word, and it crashed both of those! I then downloaded the index file from my website, which displays fine in browsers, and that file ALSO crashes Dreamweaver!
I am lost on this one. I have re-created the index file and uploaded a working one. HOWEVER, I'd like to find out what happened as this is quite disconcerting to say the least. Should I attempt to post the code here? I can view it in Safari, but that's about it. I tried deleting the deleting the personal cache file, but that did not help.
I am on CS4 for Mac, running Snow Leopard OS.
Thanks in advance for any input on where to look!

When DW "crashes", what specifically happens?
I had a similar issue yesterday with DW going "unresponsive" on me - it just froze when trying to open up certain pages.

Highlighting crashes Dreamweaver

Whenever I highlight something either in design or code view
Dreamweaver will crash almost immediately. I have CS3 on WinXP SP2.
The crash happens no matter how I highlight something, I can click
drag - crash, I can double click a word - crash, and I can click,
then shift click to select a range - crash.
Reboot didn't help.
The event viewer says:
Faulting application dreamweaver.exe, version 9.0.0.3481,
faulting module dreamweaver.exe, version 9.0.0.3481, fault address
0x002dab57.
Any idea where to start fixing this problem? It isn't the
html files because I don't have any problem with them on my Mac.

PS, this is CFM code.

I'm sure this is the right answer but it did it for me. On
Adobes site I
found an article about resetting the configuration folder -
then everything
worked again. It seemed I had extensions that did not work
well with CS3
it was something to do with;
c:
/users/you/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Dreamewaver9/Configuration
I can't remember how I did it - you must look at adobes
website

Edited template in Dreamweaver, once uploaded...another story!

I purchased a template and began to edit it in Dreamweaver 8. It looked great until I uploaded it. Some of the background doesn't show, as well as certain icons and logos. Everything has been uploaded using Yahoo! Webhosting. I uploaded the layout.css and style.css files and still no go. Alright, I created a js folder and woo hooo. The other images that were actually there I moved to the images folder...did not have to do that with my previous template, just upload and go. I have to admit that I googled absolute and relative links and I see the difference. I guess I've been "linking" like that for so long, I wouldn't know otherwise. It seems to be something I would do once I get my site nearly completed. Thanks so much to Gary and bregent! I guess I can mark this answered.

Flash code into Dreamweaver - Help please!

I am using GoDaddy for my hosting account. It is on a linux
server. I have created an HTML page and loaded it up to the
internet using Dreamweaver, like I normally do. the page in
question is

When I use dreamweaver to insert the flash movie, it
transfers it as normal, but it will not show up on the website. The
flash movie works fine on the server, just cannot be seen on the
site. I called Go Daddy who said that there is a problem with the
way the code is calling up the Flash movie. I have not altered it
at all from the way that Dream weaver inserts it. The flash movie
is located in a folder on the site called 'flash'. The code is
below. I can't figure it out, any help would be appreciated. The
code that dreamweaver inserts is below. By the way, I use
Professional 8 version of both products.

Upload the scripts folder that DW places in your local site
when you insert
Flash on a page.

Edit code while in debug mode in CC

Hi,
I have just upgraded to Flash CC, and can no longer edit code while in debug mode. It appears the code window becomes read only while debugging. This is problematic because I often find it very useful to copy in variable names from data visible in the variables display portion of the call stack. This is very helpful if I have made a typo in my variable names, or if I am reading out data from a network request and I don't know the variable names ahead of time. Is there a way to unlock the code window so it does not become read only during debugging?

I appreciate that you are trying to help, and from a purely coding standpoint see the advantages to Flash Builder IDE over the Flash Professional IDE. Although personally I am a Visual Studio kinda guy... However I am working with a fairly large code base, (we are a small game studio that has been working with flash cs4, 5, and 5.5 for the past 5 years) and while nobody that works for me is crazy enough to put code on the timeline, we do have a significant amount of UI elements, dialogs, and layouts that are designed in the Flash editor with logic in classes that extend those elements. Now correct me if I am wrong, but it is my understanding that you cannot build FLA files from flash builder let alone have them link with the classes that are set to extend them in Flash Professional. The move to CC actually gives us access to Flash Builder - something that previously was an additional $500 a seat. While it may make sense for us to use in the future, for now I am faced with the issue of the new Flash CC has removed the ability to edit the code while debugging. I was hoping there was a setting or a hidden option to turn this very unnecessary change off, I wasn't really asking for a critique of my IDE choice.

can anyone tell me how to use dreamweaver to edit websites that are not made in dreamweaver??....plz help.....

Dreamweaver works on local files. To edit any website (even those not made in DW - after all, it's all HTML), you would first need to have a DW site defined with a local root folder, then you'd need to get the files (and their dependent files) into that local root folder, and finally you can then edit those files using DW. Ordinarily, this requires some FTP connection to the remote site so that you can not only GET the remote files but also PUT them back once you have edited them. Dreamweaver has the ability to do this - when you define your site you also specify the FTP connection details.
I suggest you also use DW's F1 Help to read about defining a site.

So the problem is that I have to click in the editing code again to write in different language, which it didn't happened before.
Just in case of shortcut keys collision I completly removed the shortcut of snippets from shift+F9, nothing changed. I really can't understand why when I press Alt+Shift to change language it goes straight to the snippets.
If anyone can help would save me from nervous breakdown!

Since this appears to be a "just started happening" issue, have you tried clearing the program cache?
Deleting a corrupted cache file
That tends to catch a lot of weird behaviors and straighten them out.

Clicking on Edit- Preferences crashes Bridge CS3 - V2.1.1.9

Clicking on Edit->Preferences crashes Bridge CS3 - V2.1.1.9
I've tried repairing the installation with PS setup, renaming the preferences file, changing startup folder, clearing cache, and 1 or 2 other things I can't remember.
Once I click on Edit->Preferences Bridge stops working; I never see the preferences dialog window.
I have no idea what the cause is, one moment it was working, the next it wasn't. I hadn't changed any preferences for a while, so the change causing the problem could have been awhile ago.

Sergei - I just tried opening Bridge by holding down the Ctrl key while double clicking on the QuickLaunch Icon for Bridge. Works just fine, I get the reset window instantly. Bridge does not appear at all. I have to choose Cancel on reset window for Bridge to load. Using Ctrl+Shift+Alt works exactly the same, but takes more finger dexterity. This 3 key sequence was standard with CS2 I understand.
Clicking on Bridge in the Recently Accessed Programs List while holding down Ctrl key also works as described above.
Since you experience something different, it just re-enforces the concept that Bridge acts differently depending on how it is installed, and what is installed on a person's computer.
FYI - the CS3 I have on my computer has never had any other version of PhotoShop on it, so there is no chance of accessing fragments of previous versions. From posts I have seen upgraded versions can cause different responses to the same procedures if all traces of the old program are not overwritten with the new install.
