    Hello jayanand,
You may need to force close all open apps, then restart the phone. If necessary, you may need to reset the phone after that.

I can't add a contact or edit contacts the little + sign is no longer on my phone...same thing on my iCalendar.  I can no longer add events or dates.  how do I fix this?

Reset your phone, hold the home and off button down until the apple symbol comes up. If that doesnt fix it then you need to restore your phone in itunes, Connect to itunes, right click on your phones name to the left, then click restore from backup. That providing you have backed up your phone recently.

  • How to edit contact list in sim card?

Could someone tell me how to edit contact list in the sim card?
When you edit the contact list on the phone, sim card entries are not affected.
    Thanks and regards.

The iPhone Will copy sim addresses automatically To the onboard memory and address book app however does NOT write back to the sim card . To edit sim card data you would need to put the sim back in a traditional traditional mobile phone.
The sim in the iphone is only used for network recognition.

  • Address Book: Can't edit contact or add new

I have two computers and an iPhone that should be synching Address Book and iCal amongst themselves on Mobile Me. Recently, the iBook G4's Address Book has had some features disabled: the "edit" button is grayed out, the "+" button is grayed out, and trying to access the same functions under the file or edit menus, the same things are all grayed out. There doesn't seem to be anything in the settings or preferences that I can find that could be contributing to this problem. I need to be able to add and edit contacts from all 3 places, thus the point of having each of the devices and having Mobile Me. I don't know if this is an Address Book bug or a Mobile Me bug, as sometimes changes sync to iCal or Address Book, and sometimes they don't. Sometimes new changes are overwritten with old data, etc. Frustrating! It would seem an Address Book issue to not be able to add/edit though. Any ideas? And yes, both computers are on the same OS, 10.5.6.

Thanks to jamesk8752's link...I fixed it!!! :-) That link he posted brought me to the fix. I wrote it out easier to follow. I want to mention that when I upgraded to Mountain Lion the issue continued. This fix did the trick
    1. Make a Backup Archive of your AddressBook.app (or Contacts.app)
    2. Shut off iCloud Syncing (choose the option to delete the contacts).
    3. Now with NO contacts in AddressBook (Contacts) quit the application.
    4. Click on "go" and choose "go to folder" & navigate to [username]/Library/Application Support/AddressBook (even in Mountain Lion this is still accurate)
    5. DELETE the addressbook-v22.abcddb file. Empty trash (just because I have OCD).
    6. Reopen AddressBook/Contacts & create a new address card. You should now be able to edit it! Then delete it.
    7. Go back into System Prefrences and turn on iCloud Contacts.
Your iCloud contacts will then appear and you'll be able to edit, delete, add, etc! Everything will be right as rain!

  • Can't edit contacts Droid X

Since the new Droid X OS pushed out in Fall 2011, I can no longer edit contacts and have the new info display.   I'm a doctor, my phone has a blocked caller ID, I don't want patients getting my cell number when I return calls at night when I'm on call for the practice.  For friends, I like to have both the unblock code for calling and the plain number for texting show up in the contact list.   E.g. *82-800-555-1212 and 800-555-1212.  I used to be able to do this.  The older contacts, from before the new OS, will display as many numbers as I originally entered when creating the contact.  Now, if I add a number to a contact, it will always be there under the edit screen but it will not display when viewing the contact normally.  If I add a new contact, I can only have one number display.  I've been round and round with VZ tech support, they have been great and tried hard.   They even sent out a new phone.  I've wiped the OS, reinstalled it, no luck.  There is nothing in the VZ tech support intranet database about this problem.  I've searched this forum.
It does not matter which version of the number I'm trying to add, nor how I designate it (Home, work, other etc).  It doesn't matter if I add it in Gmail contacts.
I'm about to get a new phone (probably a Droid Razr Maxx)  I'm worried this problem will carry over to the new phone.   I think it's a problem with Gmail, or backup assistant, or Facebook, but there's no response when I email Gmail or Facebook about it.   It's really driving me nuts.  Any help greatly appreciated.

sounds like you need 2 phones
you know it works the same way for your patients, they like to see who's calling.
i remember back in the old days before verizon/gte, you could use a pause, guess things changed as the phones got smarter.
    fwiw:
my wife won't answer calls on her cell or the home phone if it shows restricted.
    btw:
if i don't want someone/company to see my caller id, i add *67 to the front of the number being called from either my cell or home phone.

  • Edit Contact Folder settings doesn't stick

I have a z10 connected to exchange 2013 through activesync.  Randomly my "edit contact folder settings" selections gets reset to all contact folders.  I also notice when this happens that my contacts are all gone, and I have to disable/re-enable contacts sycn to get them back.  This is happening on almost all blackberry's on our system.  We recently migrated from groupwise to exchange...  So this is a fresh install of exchange, and perhaps we are missing a setting somewhere?
We have also removed all contact folder except the "blackberry" folder we want synced, and it also randomly wipes contacts on phone.
Has anyone else ran into this?

It turns out it is a bug..  They will be fixing this issue in a future release.  They are to make a artice KB36964 that will be available to the public soon.
What worked for me is to completely disable the contact sync, and then re-enable it.  The issue did come back though...
We also noticed that during these sync issues the PIM service would eat up the battery, and drainign it within a couple hours.
    Hope this helps someone

  • Help Editting Contact Names

Just got the 6120 Classic - Asia Model.  I have import all contacts from SIM card, but it messed up all contacts first/last names (it shows first and last names bundle into a lastname).  It also show multiples entries for the same contact with more than one phone numbers.
Anyway, when I try to edit contact by going to Contact->Option->Edit, to update each contact's name, I use the Left arrow key to move the cursor to left, it does left shift a character BUT it doesn't delete that last character.  Same when I key in a wrong character and want to delete it, how to do so?  I'm able to left move back a character but not delete it.  So, I have been playing with deleting a character during text input, but not able to do so.  Can anyone here please help????
    Thanks!

Solution - was because I was on an unofficial carrier.  Apple just released a carrier bundle update for Telecom NZ and now works perfect, I can only assume they have for the majority of unofficial carriers by now.  Just plug your iPhone into iTunes and it should offer an update.

  • ICloud Server Error: Can't add/edit contacts + it overwrites AddressBook edits

I originally posted this in the MobileMe forum. I am totally frustrated and disgusted with the unreliable and buggy iCloud. I am hoping smarter people than me can help resolve this. Thank you.
My primary data source is/was my MacBook Pro. It was all synced to MobileMe. (Contacts and iCal). iCloud came along. I "upgraded" to iCloud {the frustrating process of "your account needs to be upgraded, create an appleID..." was a whole different pain}.
To make life simple, I even allowed iCloud to be the source of data for my iMac as well as iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S by deleting everything and letting everything be populated from iCloud. Now, supposedly, all my contacts and calendar/reminder data is in iCloud and all the data on the iMac and iPhones if from iCloud.
Except, I cannot make edits to contacts in iCloud or even Add a new contact. When I Add or Save an edit in iCloud, EACH time I get an ERROR and the error report going to Apple is given below.
Worse, I spent an hour cleaning up the freshly downloaded contacts in the iMac's AddressBook. NONE of those changes went up to iCloud.
EVEN worse, iCloud overwrote the changed fields back to the old/blank fields, wasting my hour of work.
Adding cards in AddressBook on the computer also does not propagate to iCloud, though edits to or changes to iCal DO show up in iCloud. But, adds/deletes/edits to Contacts on iMac OR iPhones do NOT show up in iCloud.
    Your help appreciated. Regards,
    Imran

The rest of the log is at: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3508969 and not repeated here.

I added this comment to a thread about trying to get rid of iCloud once it has been used... it is much harder than you'd imagine... I am sharing it here because it includes steps I took after the problem we are discussing above....
    ====
I love Apple since it started and been a Mac user since it came out. Much that MobileMe was frustrating and had a lousy launch, I thought it was impossible to make something worse than MobileMe. Apple succeeded with this disaster, data destroying, heart burning, stomach churning and hours wasting beast called iCloud.
See iCloud Server Error: Can't add/edit contacts + it overwrites AddressBook edits By IMRAN Happy to have your thoughts on how to solve that nightmare. My last attempt (manually restorying my 5000 contacts in AddressBook, then painfully manually deleting contacts in iCloud {Select All > Delete there gives Server Errors also}. Finally managed. Then resyncing the MacBook Pro to iCloud led to 1000 contacts NOT syncing and no way except manually listing each address list side by side to figure out which ones it missed pulling in. Horror. Disaster. Shame.
For the user who says that turning off iCloud on the Mac and accepting its offer to delete data will delete data only on the cloud, sorry, but, unless I misunderstood you, that is dangerously wrong.
Like an evil spawn of SkyNet and a PC Boot Sector Virus, once iCloud has grabbed your data IT becomes the master of your data, your digital life. Deleting stuff means the stuff on your DEVICE (e.g. MacBook Pro, where you created and have all the ORIGINAL data in that iCloud sucked in) is what will be destroyed. Be careful.
If you're playing with this beast, not only make backups of your data in AddressBook and iCal, but invest in an external drive and clone your whole hard drive.
I am literally having to make a decision tonight, keep my MacBook Pro as the master, and sync via iTunes to the iPhone 4S and 4. I have an iMac mostly for music and video, which it was "cool" to have synced iCal and AB on, though not regularly used. But, after the hours wasted with iCloud, and the repeated data loss, I can live without the iMac being a synced device.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards

I am trying to edit contacts, I can not - no edit button appears on my contact can anyone help

I had this same issue and read this post.  The Username: gdgmacguy posted this above: In your iCloud setting, do you have the Contacts>ON.
I tried this suggestion on my phone and believe it or not I am now able to edit my contacts on my phone again.
Thanks for throwing that out there to try and this should take care of your issue. I believe the issue occured after I downloaded the new 5.0.1 software. Taking a guess of what caused it for me.

  • Editing Contacts via keypad causes OPERATION FAILE...

Initially I entered info for approximately 60 contacts into my new Nokia 6131 phone memory using the phone keypad. Everything worked fine. Then I discovered the CONTACTS application in Nokia PC Suite software was a lot easier to use for data input, so I started to use that application via my PC to edit my contacts.
Now, when I try to edit a contact using the phone keypad, I regularly get the OPERATION FAILED error, which prevents saving the revised contact information. This is EXTREMELY frustrating, because there is no indication of a cause for the error. 95 percent of the memory in my phone is free, so problem is not related to memory capacity. I can delete certain parts of contact info, like an extra phone number, or an image, and that seems to work without generating the error, but you cannot add or modify anything. I can only reliably edit my contacts using PC suite and then synchronizing the changes. I have updated PC suite and the phone firmware to the latest available versions, but that didn't help. DOES anyone know what causes this OPERATION FAILED error?

    Thank you miksu,
Yes, my phone UI is idle when I try to browse/edit contacts. Today, I thought I'd try resetting factory settings and see if that cleared the problem. So I backed up the phone, reset factory settings and tried to restore from the backup - disaster, it would not restore contacts at all and I was left with a phone minus 400+ contacts! I tried backups that I had previously restored successfully from - still no go.
So I rebuild the contacts from my Outlook, compared it manually with what I had on my old 6230 (fortunately I still have the phone with contacts intact), made updates manually and all is now OK. The OPERATION FAILED does not appear on the phone and I can browse/edit my contacts on the PC.
Although everything is fine now, I will use PC Suite with caution. Perhaps my understanding of the product is not good enough, but I am not keen on risking it.
