Edit/delete text in Preview

How do I edit/delete PDF text in Preview?  I can get the handles around the text, but can do nothing with the text.  Text is a note added within the original PDF (not at the  margin).

Open your photo in Preview and convert it into a pdf file before you start your project. To convert it to pdf use the "Export" option and select "pdf".
Once it is a pdf document you can use Preview to add text, speech bubbles and other annotations, and you will be able to remove them again, when you open your document again.

Léonie
P.S: I can currently test this only in 10.8.2, but it should work the same on your system.

    3. When ever I try typing on the facebook web page while on my MacBook pro; let us say on a post, I am not allowed or able to edit delete text I have typed. Is that a Mac setting?

I use a Mac and have no trouble editing or deleting text I have typed into a Facebook post.
If you create a post, you can click in the upper right-hand corner of the post. You will see an inverted caret (an upside down ^). Clicking that will give you options to delete or edit your post.
If you have replied to a post, you will see a small pencil in the upper right-hand corner of your reply. Clicking that will give you options to delete or edit your reply.

  • I cannot seem to edit/delete text in a pdf using the Acrobat XI trial

Is that feature not available in the trial or am I just missing it? All/any help is appreciated!

Have you actually tried the trial version. Many companies dumb down or hobble trial software so that you can not do anything with it other than poke around with it ,and get the feel of controls. Recent software I've liked enough to buy would all you to do anything you wanted except when anything was save a giant Watermark would appear in the saved document. If you put in license key then anything save afterwards would have the watermark removed.  In MS office Trial everything works. but at midnight on the 30th day the software no longer opens or when a total of 30 days down to last second you first opened it it shuts down.

  • How do I edit and delete text

i am struggling to editnd delete text how am I able to do this

    Hi zainab g,
You can't edit/ delete text in a pdf from Adobe Reader.
You can accomplish this via Acrobat.
    How to edit PDF files:
Open a file in Acrobat XI.
    Select Tools > Content Editing.
Click the Edit Text & Images tool.
Click the on-page element you wish to edit, which automatically activates the tools you'll need.
Choose the tool that best fits your task.

  • Edit or deleting text in a pdf document.

I'm trying to edit text in a pdf file, If i delete a line the the document backs up and i end up with text over the top of text....can anyone tell me how to edit or delete text in a document without everything around it moving up or down?

Realistically, that's just how it is. Text in a PDF file (unless it's very well-structured at the creation stage) is not laid out in a flowable 'story' as it is in Word, but is scattered about all over the place. Two lines of the same paragraph don't necessarily have to be connected, so deleting / adding a line break will often result in the remaining content moving about all over the place.
The best approach is to edit the original file and recreate the PDF, but if that's not an option then it gets messy. You may be able to open the page in Illustrator (where you could edit the text objects and reposition them if things act strangely) but that will break any interactivity or accessibility so is only a sensible option if the resulting PDF is only destined to be printed out.
If the page layout is relatively-simple, try exporting the PDF to Word (from Acrobat Pro), editing it and re-saving to PDF. Again it will lose any interactivity, but during the Save As step, Acrobat will try and guess the flow of the page content from where each item is positioned.

  • How does one, edit text using Preview?

    Hi all,
I have recently created a document using Preview...The document includes text that I inserted using the text tool within Preview itself...I was able to edit these text windows quite freely during the creation of the document...
However, today I have opened my Preview document only to find that the usual method of clicking on the text is failing and that I cannot edit those very same text windows anymore...How is this so and how can I edit them once again?
Any help muchly appreciated, thank you!
    Regards,
    Brad

    Dear Terence Devlin,
    Thank you for your reply!
Unfortunately I'm still unable to edit the text...When I select the 'View' menu; the 'Highlights and Notes' is greyed out and therefore unable to be selected.
    Any further assistance greatly appreciated!
    Regards,
    Brad

  • Unable to edite or delete text while making a book.

In iPhoto I am trying to make a book. However I am unable to edit or delete text. I can type text in - sometimes, but then cannot edit it after. Also, sometimes when I click in the text box, the text dissapears and will only re appear when I click elsewhere out side the text box.
I have checked for updates and there is none. I am up to date on it. And this is a brand new mac, it's only 3 days old.
If anyone can help, it would VERY much appreciated!!

    Hi,
yes the error was the version; I was manually set it as the previous one in the WS call. Removiing the filed solved the problem about the upload issue.
The delete command gets back a null pointer exception but I think it is a XAI Ibound Service bug which tries to load the resulting BO which has been just deleted :)
    Thanks,
    Antonio

  • HT201285 Is there a way to search for deleted texts on the iphone 5c?

Can I recover texts I have deleted?

Yeah, but 1Password charges for both the iPhone client AND the Mac/Windows client, and it ain't cheap! Plus, it only syncs via Dropbox, and where I work Dropbox is banned due to security concerns.
Sure, there is Secure Notes, a free form entry part of 1Password, but a bug in the program will not let you view all the text you can put in the field!! You have to EDIT the text to see the whole list! What if you accidentally delete or change an entry while scrolling through your entries??
Plus NONE of the programs I have tried, and I have tried a lot, can find text IN the file - do a search and it will tell you what file/folder the text is in, but YOU have to scroll down through 400 entries one at a time looking for the entry.
I use a program called Secure Text - I have many admin passwords, and DO not need a field based program. Secure Text is totally freeform entry. However, it suffers from the same search issue.
If someone knows of a secure text program that uses a file/folder type of layout, free form entry, AND can actually tell you where in the file/folder the text you searched for is, PLEASE let me know! Plus sycing via some method other than Dropbox would be a plus.
Before I got my iPhone, I used a program called Tombo for my WinCE based system AND my Windows workstation, and the synced up fine without iTunes, internet, DropBox type functionality or any of that horsecoller stuff Apple likes to throw on your neck.

  • Can an InCopy editor add, remove and edit a text frame placed inside the main story text frame?

I think I already know the answer to this which is - no. I'll explain why I am asking the question in a second, but the reason I think the simple answer is no is because - text frames are controlled by a designer in the layout file, an editor using incopy can only edit the text and images placed inside text frames, and so cannot resize them, add or delete them.
Ok, so the reason I have asked this.
Is there a way around this so that editors in incopy can edit certain types of text frame that are contained within the main text frame? I'm using these text frames to contain specific paragraph styles, giving them a boxed look and also with an anchored icon in the top left of the text frame depending on the type of paragraph it is. See screenshot as an example of a green text frame that I am using to contain paragraphs of type "tip".
If it is not possible for editors in incopy to add, edit or resize these text frames (green tip frame in the example above), then how else can I style these paragraphs to give the same visual appearance, but without the use of wrapping them in a text frame?
One (not so good) way around this is for the designer to add the text frames in the layout file after he gets the content back from the editor, then moving the "tip" paragraphs into these newly created text frames. However when the editor updates the content in incopy and gets these new text frames in their copy, they can not then delete them if they wish to, or if they add or reduce content inside of these green text frames then the frames dont grow to fit their edited content. So I dont think its a solution for the designer to control the adding, removing and resizing of these frames.
UPDATE: I have just discovered that once a text frame has been placed into the document by the designer and the editor updates their copy in incopy-  they can then use the "Position Tool" to select that text frame - allowing them to resize it, or delete it! Fantastic. But would the editor be able to add these frames in themselves to begin with? Maybe have a document containing all of the objects available to them, copy and paste one of them into the main document and edit its content? Does anyone have any advice on how to go about this? Essentially I would like the editor to control the insertion, editing and removal of these inline text frames.

True. But when all I am trying to achieve is a border around a paragraph, use of a table seems overkill to me. But if thats the only solution I have so far then I will have to go down that route.
It would be useful to have an object libraries panel in InCopy so that editors can drag across predefined text frames into their doc via InCopy, but I cant see that option in InCopy. is there one? I have also thought about exporting the frames as seperate InDesign Snippets and saving them to an objects folder, then when an editor needs to insert one into their doc they simply use File > Place > "Choose required text frame snippet". However I have found that InCopy can't place InDesign snippets so that theory was a failure. Is there another format I could use to save the objects and bring them into InCopy? List below shows my findings so far for trying to save/export a text frame from InDesign and then import into InCopy:
InDesign Snippet (.idms) - can't import into InCopy
InDesign Document (.indd) - imports content as an image - only editable in InDesign
InDesign Template (.indt) - imports content as an image - only editable in InDesign
InDesign Library (.indl) - can't import into InCopy - no panel available in InCopy for object libraries (that I can see...)
InCopy Markup (.icml) - only imports the text, loses the text frame

  • Can't make Photoshop PDF with editable / vector text.

    Hi,
I'm trying to File > Save As an Adobe Photoshop CS6 PDF and then be able to open it and edit the text in Adobe Acrobat X.
Whenever I attempt to edit the text it is a raster image and it doesnt matter what I do in the photoshop pdf settings.
I want to be able to do this so that the text is able to be searched by google / search engines when I make the PDF available online.
    -Steve.

That what I did by using CS6 and it worked for me. Hope it helps you too
Step1) Moved All Graphics (Images/Backgrounds) in one folder (Folder-Layers)
Step2) Moved All texts (title, Headings, main text etc.) in another folder (Folder-Text)
Step3) Merge the first folder (Folder-Layers) and made a single layer by right click & Merge Group
OR Select folder > Layer > Rasterize > Layer
Now I have only one Background Layer (Graphics) and a text folder
Step4) Go to - File > Save As > Choose Photoshop PDF –
Check* Use Proof Setup: Working CMYK then SAVE (If you want print)      You will get a message “The settings you choose in the save Adobe PDF dialog can override your    Current settings in the Save As dialog box. “- OK
Step 5) Save Adobe PDF Dialogue Box
                  Choose settings-
Adobe PDF Preset: Adobe PDF Preset 1
    Standard:        PDF/X-4:2010
    Compatibility:    Acrobat 7(PDF 1. 6)
    General
Check- Optimize for fast Web Preview
    Check- View PDF after Saving
    Compression
Just change Compression box None (No Zip, No JPEG., No JPEG2000)
Don’t touch any settings. and then SAVE PDF
Then open in Acrobat Reader and do the text changes.

  • Trouble with viewing font on spine of Photo book.  I can't find a way to view and edit the text which appears on the spine of the dustcover or the book itself when printed.

I can't find a way to view and edit the text which appears on the spine of the dustcover or the photo book itself.  When I preview the book it appears on the dustcover and the book, but not when I'm back in the creation or editing windows.  I've printed 4 books in a series and two spines are one font size, and two others are a different font size.  One of the books has a shortened title on the book spine.

The text on the spine will be the same text that is in the Title text box on the title page.  You can change the font and style of that text just like you change any text in Aperture. Aperture will size and center the spine text for you
If you want the content or the font and style  of the text to be different from your Title box text then you have to trick the program a bit.  Put the text that you want in the spine into the Title text box and then move that box to a place on the page where it will not be visible when printed ( Y coordinate -1.0 inches for example).  Don't move it too far away or it will be hard to get back to in order to make an edit.    Then make a new text box on the title page and put the text you want on the cover in that.  (Or make a book without text on the cover , but with text on the spine).
You are 100% correct in that you can not preview this unless you preview the printed book

  • How do I delete text from a movie I did in final cut

hey guys i made a movie in final cut a while back and I want to delete some text I added to a clip but I can't seam to figuer out how to do it anyone have any ideas?
Message was edited by: the mac guy

As Jim is pointing out, the best way to deal with editing the text out of an existing movie is to go back to the project and deal with the clips BEFORE the text was added.
Either that or bring the movie into AfterEffects or Shake and paint out the text on a frame by frame basis. (LOADS of fun!)

  • Cannot edit pdf text in word 2013

I have just opened a PDF document on Word 2013. However the entire document is showing up as a picture and I am unable to edit the text.
please tell me how i can edit the pdf file using word 2013 as I believe we can. maybe i need to change the way the document is scanned.
    please advise.
    philip

PDFs produced by scanning processes and the like often have no text in them or, if they've been made searchable, have both the scanned pages and the text behind them. The text in such cases is typically produced by an OCR process and may not be entirely
    accurate. If the PDF isn't searchable, then all you have is page images. When such PDFs are opened in Word, that's also all you'll get. If a scanned PDF is searchable, the opened file in Word will have the same structure - images overlaying the OCR'd text;
in that case, deleting the images will reveal the text behind them.
