Edit document on iPad and mac book

Hi I have just bought a iPad and planned to use MobileMe to sync my documents as my mac book does not support lion (pre 2008). MobileMe is now closed has ant one got any ideas?

I was hoping there was a way of doing this without intoducing a third party.

You have quite muddied up the waters, I'm afraid. Assuming you now have a single GUID partition formatted Mac OS Extended, Journaled, you should try reinstalling Lion:
Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

I regret to say that you need a new computer. That G5, as good as it still is, simply cannot run the required software to be used with the latest iPhones and other software.

Please help Internet goes down when using iPad and Mac book pro at samtime

When I am using my iPad and my wife is using her Mac book pro at the same time we both lose Internet connection. We are using a gateway 2wire wireless router supplied by AT&T. Both devices have the latest updates we have reset network settings reentered wep password rebooted router and restarted both devices with no luck. We bought both of them at the same time so we are new to the Mac world, not sure if it is related but our new 2nd gen apple tv also seems to power on for no reason even after I put it to sleep and the remote is put away so no accidental bumps. The apple tv is connected via an either net cable not wifi. Any info would help thanks.

The fact that your using WEP security could be the problem. Try switching your router security settings to WPA or WPA2 with AES. If you don't know how id suggest contacting your internet service provider to get directions on changing the wifi security settings. The iPads wifi chipset supports AES encryption at the hardware level which increases performance and battery life. I'm not sure about your Macbook though.

I currently own an ipad and was wondering if i should perhaps buy a macbook Air to sort of "replace" my ipad. My question is, is the macbook Air better than the ipad?

I'm going to be getting an iPad soon, which I will have in addition to my MBA. Why do I want an iPad when I've got an MBA? Because I love to read and an iPad is better for reading books and magazines. I'm sure I'll also find a lot of other apps doing things that I couldn't do on an MBA (the Air does not, after all, have a touch screen and a touchpad is not at all the same). My sister-in-law uses her iPad to fingerpaint. And the iPad is way more useful on a car ride for watching movies, listening to music, playing games, checking maps. BUT...I'm a writer. I type pretty much every day and for long hours during that day. As a touch typist, I need to feel those keys. I can't work on flat glass staring at the keyboard. An iPad is fine for short e-mails or notes, but for writing essays, blogs, novels? I think not. I could, of course, have gotten the keyboard that goes with the iPad. I know a writer who did that and uses only the iPad. But that doesn't work for me. I love my MBA for writing and web-creation. However, when I'm sitting at lunch, I don't like pulling out my computer to read. I like the idea of an iPad that takes up very little room, and can be adjusted to any angle, and which flips the page with a tap in the corner.
Which is better? Which ever one does what you most need it to do. If I didn't write, if I was only a reader or an artist, I'd have only an iPad. But I do write, and so I have an MBA. What do you do and what do you most need your "computer" to do? That's the question you have to answer before we can advise you.

Apple IDs cannot be merged. You should use your preferred Apple ID from now on, but you can still access your purchased items such as music, movies, or software using your other Apple IDs.

Thanks for that. Much more constructive than the last comment. It's only the restriction code I can't recall, not the access passcode. So I can currently access the device, just not age restricted content. Does that's make a difference? I also wondered if anyone knew how many attempts you get to try to get it right. Now tried 21 times and so far nothing bad has happened but I am concerned I'll eventually be completely locked out of the device. That doesn't seem in the spirit of things though. Surely it's foreseeable that a child could repeatedly try to guess the code so I can't see that it would be right to lock the device down completely in that circumstance, particularly if the access code is being typed in correctly every time.
