Edit events in iCal on Wiki calendar

I know that it's by default not supported, the editing of events from the Wiki calendar in iCal, but still I wanna know if there's a work around.
Does anybody know if there's a work around, coding-wise, programming-wise or whatever-wise, to be able to edit events from the Wiki calendar in iCal?
Now I get a message every time I wanna edit an event that i can't edit it from iCal. But I want other people who sign up to the calendar also to be able to edit the events from their own calendar program.

Hello there skier3,
You should be able to edit an event in the Calendars app by tapping the event in quuestion and then tapping edit shown here:
iCloud: Using iCloud Calendars with Calendar and iCal
Tap the event to display event details, including the name of the calendar that contains the event:

For the last 2 days, I have been having the same problem. I cannot edit ical events on my iphone, specifically those who habe been sync-ed to & from my MacOS (under Mountain lion 10.8) Calendar.
I have reset my sync history on the Mac (running the reset.pl script), but to no effect.
    Please help.

  • How can I stop getting emails when adding events to iCal (Mac) or Calendar (iOS)?

This question could just as well go to the iCloud on my Mac community...
I put 'I' in the topic for brevity but it's actually my wife who gets emails every time either of us adds or edits events, whether we do it in iCal on either of our Macs or in Calendar on our iOS devices. Presumably this is to do with a setting in iCloud somewhere, but I've searched high and low and can’t find it. I've also compared settings on our Macs and phones and can't find anything that could be the culprit. It's driving her nuts!
For more information, we share all our calendars so that either of us read and write any of them, and we're both on iOS 5.1 on our iPhones (hers is a 3GS, mine's a 4), and we're both on Mac OS X 10.7.3 Lion (2010 27" iMac and 2011 MacBook Pro respectively).

this seems to be a new "bug" on iCloud.  It's happened to many users (judging by the posts here).  My wife and I have one shared calendar and we've been happily using it without the email problems (because I had set iCloud NOT to email us whenever an event changed - this was done at icloud.com, a setting there).  Recently we began getting emails.  I suspect a change in iCloud that was in error, because I just checked my setting and the option to have an email sent when an event changes is not checked.

  • Help: I cannot see or edit events in iCal.  What to do?

Please help. I cannot open the event editor to change or see contents of an event. I am using an Intel MacBook, iCal, and The Missing Sync for Palm with a Palm Centro. The events show fine on my Centro, but I cannot double-click the events on iCal on my MacBook in order to see or edit the attached notes. Maybe an unrelated problem is that times of events in iCal are not the same on my Centro (some are, some are not). I cannot seem to determine what happened to the events as shown on my MacBook. Any ideas?

I talked to AppleCare support earlier today and they guided me to the solution. Seems like my iCal file had became corrupted for some reason (iCal or Palm Centro or Missing Sync to blame?--who knows). Anyway, the solution was to remove the file "com.apple.iCal.plist" Once that was done, iCal recreated the file after I reopened iCal and all was well. We'll see how long this fix lasts -- I hope forever.

  • Editing events in Ical

I saw that a similar question was posted, but no reply received, so here we go...
I cannot right click and edit the information I put into my ICal - not an invitation, an event I set up myself (any, in fact). Ical version 3.0.5.
Any help out there? I want to set an alarm or two in some events, as I always managed to do in teh recent past.
    Tks
    Doug

    Doug,
...as I always managed to do in the recent past.
If you are referring to the Tiger version of iCal, right-click will not directly open an edit window in the Leopard version of iCal. The contextual menu which is available only presents the following choices:
Get Info (Makes the Edit selection available)
    Cut
    Copy
    Paste
    Duplicate
    Calendar (Assignment of desired calendar)
    Make All Day Event
    Stop Recurrence
    Mail Event
The following keyboard shortcuts may also be helpful for you when creating or editing a new event:

(⌘ + E) opens the edit window

    (⌘ + I) opens the info window

(esc) closes either window

    Hello to all,
I guess this is just something that hasn't yet been implemented in SL wiki but I'd like to know if it is possible to have an alarm attached to a calendar event just as you can iCal? I haven't found this feature anywhere (if it is there...).

  • Cannot Edit Events in iCal

I completed the new software updates yesterday and since then, I cannot edit any of my entries in iCal. Anyone else having this issue? Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

    Mandy,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
    1. How are you trying to edit your events?
    2. How many calendars do you have?
    3. Are any of the calendars "Subscribed?"
    4. What happens when you try to edit an event?

  • How can I move an event in ical to another calendar without ical resending the event invite to everyone

I have 2 microsoft exchange calendars that I use for work. One is provided by my company, the other is provided by a customer that I do contract work for. The customer prefers to send invites to my email address provided to me by them. Which means that the invite appears on the exchange calendar provided to me by the customer.
That's fine, but I would like for the event to appear on my work calendar so that I can get reminders on my iphone (long story short, the customer does not allow me to connect to their exchange server via my iphone due to security reasons).
So, I go into iCal, open the event and change the calendar for the event. Unfortunately, that causes iCal to resend the invite to everyone involved in the event. This causes alot of confusion, obviously, as now everyone is wanting to know why I sent an invite for an event that is already scheduled.
How can I move events to another calendar without iCal sending another invite to everyone?

If you change anything in a repeating calendar entry it will give you the option of disconnecting it from the series. So may any random change, choose to not change the series.

  • ICal Server - Wiki Calendar - Path is resetted

    Hi everybody,
having setup a 10.6 server with activated iCal Server. Working with exceptions as expected.
The Port for SSL iCal is openend in the Firewall, so the clients can access the Server.
The client is set to serverpath: "/principals/__uuids__/wiki-name/"
From time to time the client (Lion 10.7.2 all updates) is resetting the serverpath to "/principals/__uuids__/<unique_user_id>".
Can I prevent the client from doing that? Most of the time it's resetted, when the client is in a public WiFi.
Thanks a lot and greeting from germany.

  • Can't edit Google Calendar events in iCal

I am using Google Calendar's new CalDAV sync system and their "Calaboration" tool to sync my iCal (version 3.0.5, and I'm using Mac OS 10.5.2) with my Google Calendars, per the instructions on this page:
    http://www.google.com/support/calendar/bin/answer.py?answer=99358#ical
It seems to work ok in that I can now see my google calendar events in iCal. I can also add an event to that calendar in iCal, and it will sync to my google calendar. However, I can't seem to edit an event in iCal that was created on the Google Calendar web page. That is, all my events that I created in Google Calendar do indeed appear in iCal, but I can't edit them in iCal. I can edit events that I create for that calendar in iCal, but not ones I created in google calendar. Not a huge deal, but I was wondering if this is how it is supposed to work, because it seems a tad inconvenient.
(I do have my e-mail address in my address book "me" card, so that's not the problem.)

Yeah, I tried deleting the calendars in iCal and re-synching to them via Calaboration, but the same problem persisted.
I did find the solution after a bit of experimenting, though. To solve it, I basically created a new calendar on Google Calendar, imported all my events from my old google calendar into it, then used Calaboration to sync iCal to the new Google calendar, and now I can edit events in iCal and GCal without problems. I don't actually know what the problem WAS, but this seems to have solved it. Maybe I made my original Google Calendar too long ago and it had some old bad settings I couldn't see? I dunno, but it doesn't matter now.
For those who might have this same problem, here's how I transferred my old Google Calendar events into a new Google Calendar without losing anything: (You actually don't need to delete your old Google Calendar at all if you don't want to, so there's no reason to worry about losing your events.)
    1. In GCal, click the "settings" link at the top right of the web page. Then select the "Calendars" tab. Click the "Export My Calendars" link, which should be under your list of calendars, next to the cancel button. This will download a .zip file to your computer, containing all of your google calendars as individual .ics files. Go ahead and unzip them so that the .ics file for the calendar you want to duplicate is sitting in a folder somewhere on your computer.
    2. Now In GCal, click on the "Create" link on the lower righthand side of the "My Calendars" box, which is on the lefthand side of the screen.
    3. Create a new blank calendar and name it whatever you want. This is the blank calendar into which you will import your old calendar's events.
    4. Now, in GCal, click "Add" at the bottom right of the "Other Calendars" box, which is under the "My Calendars" box on the left side of the web page.
    5. Select "Import Calendar".
    6. Click "Choose File" and browse to the .ics file you want to duplicate on your computer.
    7. In the "Choose Calendar" pull-down menu, select the new, blank calendar you made in step 3.
    8. Click Import. This may take a few minutes, depending on the number of events you have in your .ics calendar file.
    9. Once it's done, look at the calendar to make sure your events all came into your new Google Calendar ok. It should look exactly like the original google calendar, but it will be a different color.
    10. NOW, use Calaboration to sync your iCal to the New Calendar you just made in Google Calendar.
    11. Once it's done synching, you should be able to edit events in the calendar in iCal.

  • ICal crashes when I try to edit events

I cannot edit events in iCal. When I double click on the event iCal crashes instantly. I have to edit my events with my iPhone or iPad.
How can I solve the problem?  Brand new iMac with Mountain Lion...A bug I suppose?

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Enter the name of the crashed application or process in the Filter text field. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
    Step 2
Still in the Console window, look under User Diagnostic Reports for crash reports related to the process. The report name starts with the name of the crashed process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report and post the entire contents — again, the text, not a screenshot. In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

  • Anyone else unable to edit gCal events via iCal?

Ok, I can create events in iCal for a gCal and it will update universally across all devices (iMac, iPhone, iPadm, and on gCal). Not having any issues with this part of syncing. All events are present on all devices as well. The issue I seem to be running into is editing those events, specifically the notes section. I like to add in assignments that are due in the Notes section and it seems recently that this is very hit or miss and more on the miss end. As of today, 3/19 I haven't been able to succesfully edit the Notes of any of my current events. Very frustrating to say the least. Any insight into this would be much appreciated.

For the last few weeks, I'd been having problems with my gCal/iCal sync, including editing events in iCal.  I gave up and moved everything back to iCal and I am now using iCloud.  In my search for an answer, I came across a great read:  http://www.busymac.com/download/tco-busycal.pdf
It was written for a third party app but has a lot of good information in it.
    Hope that helps,
    Rhonda

  • Unable to add new event in iCal

OK, this may be a total newbie question, as this is only my 2nd day with a Mac, but I can't add an event in iCal.
My calendar is a Google Calendar, and I have successfully set this up in iCal (I can see all my events). However, I can't find a way to add an event! The File > New Event is greyed out, and the keyboard shortcut doesn't work either.
I'm guessing it's got something to do with how I've set things up, but I have no idea where to go from here.

Solved! Needed to check "Show All Day Events" in the View menu!
