Edit fields of table of contents

Hello guys.
i used the automatic table 1 to create the table of contents.
but in this table level 1 and level 2 start with a space which isn't stable.
i mean something like this:
1-        Chapter 1 ... 1
1-1   Example...........1
1-2          Example. 1
1-2-1 example..........1
i couldn't edit the fields to show the table like this:
1-        chapter............. 1
1-1        Example...........1
1-2        Example. .........1
1-2-1       Example.........1
i wondering is there a way to create a table like this?

I have tested in my computer to insert a table of content, it works well.
Make sure you have added your title to the right level.(Ribbon>Reference>Table of contents)
Check if there's extra space between the chapter line.
We might also customize the table of contents by clicking Insert table of content.
Select the right option that best suits your requirements.

To capture the selected rows along with edited field contents in alv report

Dear All,
         I do have requirement where, in alv report output one field is editable and need to save the content of the edited field along with the selected rows.
         For example If there are 10 records displayed in the alv output with 20 fields.
Out of this 20 fields one field (say XYZ) is editable. Also i have already created a new pushbutton (say ABC) on alv output. Now in the alv output if we maintain some value in the field (XYZ ) for the 2nd and 4th record and select this two records, and when clicked on the pushbutton (ABC) it has to update the DB table.
      I am using the Func Module 'REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY'.
      Your early reply with sample code would be appreciated.

There is an import parameter "i_callback_program" in the function module,
plz pass the program name to it.
Capture the command by passing a field of type sy-ucomm to "I_CALLBACK_USER_COMMAND ". Check the returned command and
and program a functionality as desired.
u can try the event double_click or at line selection. there u can use READLINE command to c if the line has been selected.
In case it is , process the code segment.

You can download the trial version (http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-downloads.html) to convert the PDF back to WORD if you do not have the original. The conversion may not be perfect, but it is typically better than starting from scratch. You may be lucky and get a good result. You might check the settings (in the save screen) to try retain format versus retain text flow. The format version can be a pain to edit since it creates a bunch of text boxes. The flow version may require you to reformat in WORD, but you likely would want to do that anyway.

How to manually edit a "Table of Contents"

How do I set a table of contents to display "..." or align in a "nicer way" - either through manual editing or some advanced automatic vodoo.
Right now my TOC looks like this:

Nervertheless in my table of contents, I haven't got the numbering as follow :
bla bla.......................... 3

And I would like a table of contents as follow :

Editing Content in Table Of Contents

I've been able to create a nice looking TOC with Pages, and formatted it well.
However, there are a few widow lines. I need to push a few lines onto another page. So I'd like to be able to insert blank lines or page breaks into the TOC in order to make the different entries fit together well.
Is there any way to edit the actual *content* of the table of contents?

No. The TOC is a special data merge text and can only be styled, not edited.
What you could do is put a white textbox or shape at the bottom of the page, with wrap set, to push the text off the page and over to the next.

I'm writing a novel using Pages 5
Using the Help notes I've attempted to create a Table of Contents doing the following:-
1. Insert page numbers in footer and justify to centre.
2. Allocate a page for TOC and click Insert TOC
3. Select Heading 2 for my chapter heading.
The TOC automatically generates itself.
For Example
Chapter One
3
Chapter Two
5
Could you please advise me how to edit to create
Chapter One..................................Page 3
Chapter Two..................................Page 5
etc
I select Table of Contents/Text in the Inspector, but what do I do next?

Thanks, yet again, for your help.
I now have a table of contents worthy of the name.
As you pointed out the page numbers no longer link to the pages to which they refer, and I will have to learn how to bookmark to replace that functionality.
At the moment my research in that area is suggesting that I must go through Hyperlink and Bookmark, but it's early days in my investigation, that might change yet.
I agree with your assessment of the latest Pages, that is why I'm hanging on to Version 4.3 tightly. And I like your feedback idea of 'post in the App Store' I had a quick mental picture of me armed with scrolls reading
'Give us Back our Word Processor';
a bucket of paste;
and a long wide-head-brush, sneaking up to my local store.
I recon if I chose a busy School Holiday, I could get about five pasted over the glass doors before I got arrested.

How to read Editable field in a table

Dear friends,
i have a table with 5 columns( one column is editable field ( Amount column)) pls check the below screen shot, , its binded with an internal table , now i want to edit the amount columns ( for eg 100 ), could any one pls let me know how to capture the editable value ( ie 100 ), when i am trying to read amount field , i am getting the old value ( ie 15,000),

Hi Laxmi,
I am able to read the values before edited and after editing. Code i have written is in the ONENTER action method. I have simply read the Table node values.
1. Applicaiton data
2. Values In Debugging mode by clicking on Enter button on the second row.
3. Edit second value and click on Enter

Editable Table of Contents for PDF in Preview

I am creating my own PDF document and I want it to have the convienent Table of Contents feature in Preview. But how can I edit my PDF document so it will have such a feature?

I want to create said table. I am creating the PDF document, I want to be able to create the Table of Contents myself. Any idea how?

Hey everyone,
I have a PDF that was generated by an online service (in other words, I didn't create it) and I'd like to edit or add to the Table of Contents, which currently is blank (other than the filename). (The file is otherwise able to be annotated, and has existing active links in it pointing to URLs.)
How can I do add to the TOC? For instance, if there are 12 chapters in here, I want to create 12 lines in the TOC, so I can just click and jump to them. I see there is a workaround with Bookmarks but I'd prefer manipulating the TOC.
And if the only way is to start with a Word doc, let me know because I can start in that format.

You can use PDFOutliner for editing the TOC (costs $5 on the Mac App Store). PDFOutliner can also *automatically* build a TOC based on the PDF's heading styles, to get you started quickly with a long PDF.
Note - I am the developer of PDFOutliner.

EDIT field in ALV GRID and on SAVE it has to update the DB Table

Hi Experts,
I have searched lot of forums...
But i had not got the exact solution for this...
I have multiple records that displayed in the ALV output screen and i had modified more than one record and then click on save.
It has to modify all the lines that i had changed in the EDITABLE FIELD.
Can any one help me in doing so...
Sample code will be more help full....

How can I edit the table of contents?

I'm unable to do anything to the table of content. I don't want numbers, 1.2 for Chapter 1, Section 2
Is there a way to cjange this or do I just eliminate chapters and sections.

If you choose none and your book isn't complying, you have other issues, such as maybe a corrupted book, or maybe a template that is locked for that attribute.
Try making another, fresh book and then see if it obeys page numbering as you need there.

I cannot generate a table of contents in INDesign3

Hi There:
I'm fairly new to Indesign CS3 and I need to generate a table of contents. I created a book file which consists of 20 chapters. I also created a Frontmatter file, which is also part of the book file. According to the help menu, I should open up the FM file and choose, LAYOUT>TABLE OF CONTENTS to begin. However this option under layout doesn't exist. Is there a plug-in I am missing. HELP! I need to generate this TOC at some point today.

As far as I know, it should be there always unless the menus themselves have been turned off by someone. Might as well check though.
1) GO to Edit > Menus (opens Menu Customization)
2) Select Application Menus from the Category field
3) Expand "Layout" under Application Menu Command and make sure the Visibility icon is active for the TOC items (at bottom)
edit: Of course you could also go to Window > Workspace and select reset menus

Table of Contents

As some of you may have noticed I went through a major TOC problem last year and with Peter's help solved it. This is a new one.
The book that I'm writing has 4 sections and 30 chapters. For paragraph styles I use Heading 1, Heading 2, Heading 3 and then map them to TOC1, TOC2, TOC3.
I followed the process and generated the TOC. I corrected some mistakes in the book and came back to re-generate and now only get the title (Table of Contents) and none of the sections or chapters.
I've deleted pages and put in new fields. I've deleted the styles in the TOC dialog box and re-instated.
I'm stuck.
ID 7.0.4.
iMac Intel with 10.6.7.
Thank you for any help that you can provide. TOCs and me just don't seem to have good relationship.

LIke last year it seemed to be a random set of actions that solved it.
I had set up a preset for the TOC. It worked -- once.
So, I thought that I'd go back to the "default" and go through the formatting stuff -- not that hard. It worked. It worked again. Now I've let it be until I'm finished editing the book.
So, there must have been something wrong with the presets, though I don't think so.

Disabling fields in table Maintenance generator

Hi Experts,
I would like to restrict some fields in table maintenance generator dynamically/ statically.
Here is the situation.
I have generated table maintenance for the table ZMARA and I have created three transactions for the above single table maintenance generator.
i.e .. Transaction      ---        Table
          ZT1                  ---         ZMARA
          ZT2                  ---          ZMARA
          ZT3                  ---          ZMARA
I am using above three transactions in my module pool program. Based on the certain conditions I am calling different transactions i.e ZT1, ZT2, etc
Here is my requirement:
Suppose if I call ZT1 transaction, I need to display only few fields. i.e ZMATNR, ZMTART, ZPRODH.
or remaining fields should disable. User should not allow to change the content, even if it is new entries/existing entries. only ZMATNR, ZMTART, ZPRODH.
Suppose if I call ZT2 transaction, I need to display only few fields. i.e ZMATNR, ZMTART, ZHTSCODE
How can we restrict dynamically when you call table maintenance generator table through transaction
or
How can we generate table maintenance for few fields?

Hi ,
go to Se11->Table maintenace generation. Double click on screen to edit and assign the field you want to display/hide to groups. In PBO , after the following lines..
LOOP AT EXTRACT WITH CONTROL
TCTRL_ZMARA                         CURSOR NEXTLINE.
   MODULE LISTE_SHOW_LISTE.
ENDLOOP.
Write a new module in PBO and edit the SCREEN as per the Tcode, you are calling,,'
