Edit functions grayed out in QT 7 Pro?

MY digital camera .avi files are editable within QT 7 Pro, until I save them, and they become .mov files. Then, I cannot edit or resave. All of these functions are grayed out. I have tried saving as "save", "save as", always as self-contained. I never had this problem in QT 6 Pro, or maybe before I upgraded my system software to OX 10.4.5.
Any suggestions?

I have a couple of "thoughts" (maybe not answers).
Do a get Info (command-I) on one of the saved .mov files. Look under permissions. See if for some reason you lost ownership. Click the little padlock icon and unlock it. Change permissions so that you are the owner and you have read write privileges. The other thought is, though it says it is a mov file, the actual file type may be otherwise. Try exporting your avi instead of saving it. Export as a QT movie. Try Movie to MPEG 4. Then see if you still have the same problem with that exported file. For some very difficult avi files, I convert it to DV (export to QT movie - DV). It's large but I can quickly edit it down (smoother and easier to edit in DV than avi) then re-export that finished file using one of the better compression codecs, like QT MPEG 4 or H264, or DivX if you have it (which I prefer).

"Edit" Functions Grayed Out and No Longer Work

I have CS5 and have used it for several years now and it has served me well but suddenly, I find that many options (such as most "Edit" options within it are noy grayed-out and non-functional. I've uninstalled it and re-installed but the problem is still there. I can no longer find a phone number to get tech help like I used to and am now totally stuck with a useless product. Does anyone know a fix here?

Jerry, thanks for the screen shots. As JJMack said, a preference reset might work. You might want to go to actions>edit on your post and remove the second picture. Looks like it has some personal info on it.
Try resetting the Photoshop preference file: Hold Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Opt+Shift as you initiate Photoshop's startup. Select "yes" when asked if you would like to continue with reset.

Custom will show automatically as soon as you just edit some options. So just go ahead, you don't need to select "custom"

Address Book "Edit" button grayed out...unable to edit

Had to edit a contact's info and was surprised to find the Edit button grayed out, not allowing me to click it. Repairing permissions has not helped.

Not only that, but I've also found that iCal and Mail will no longer launch, either. The iCal calendar pane and the Mail main window open, but the beach ball spins forever. I've never seen this before. Any ideas?
I tried a different account on the same computer. No problems there.

Paste function grayed out

I am working on a survey using Adobe FormsCentral, purchased version (not the free version). Previously i was able to copy or cut, and paste portions of my form to new areas. Today the paste option is grayed out. If i click cut, the element i attempt to cut becomes grayed out, but i cannot paste it anywhere, or undo.
I have tried re-starting both the chrome web browser, re-signing in to forms-central, re-booting the entire computer, tried both web-view and pdf view, tried making a copy of the entire survey. nothing. no ability to paste. I can copy and paste parts of the web to word doc, so i dont think it is my clipboard.
the only difference i can see between today and a week ago when i last edited is that i now have five responses from my team collaborators who took the survey in order to give me feedback. could these responses somehow prevent copying or cutting/pasting?

I just tried it on another computer, which only had firefox (no chrome). It worked fine - i could once again cut and paste. As a test, i downloaded chrome onto that computer, and low and behold, it did not work.
Now i am back on my own computer, and can successfully get it to work with firefox. I guess chrome must have updated in the last week, and something is not working now. I had not thought to try another browser, since I had the functionality on chrome previously.
Anyways, problem solved for me, i will just use firefox!

Save function grayed out

Hi.
I am using Acrobat Pro 9 and the save function via file menu is grayed out for All documents.
The toolbar save button is also grayed out for All documents.
However, I can use the Save As function via the file menu.
It is annoying that I cannot just "save."
I'd appreciate it if can someone explain this? And help me please?

I do have both; however, I am sure I have Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro open because
it says
that in the window and in the help tab.
I checked the security manager, nothing is apparent.
In addition, I am able to use the Save As function, just not the Save
function or the Save button in the toolbar.
It is annoying that I have to go to File>Save As> then press ok.

Page Editing Tools Grayed Out

I have a PDF with no secuirty restrictiosn for editing, etc. I am trying to crop and rotatate the document in Acrobat Pro X, and these tools are "grayed" out. Why are they grayed out?

PDF/A files, while they are not formally secured (AND cannot be secured) are considered final, so editing of them is locked out. I think you can turn this off in preferences, but be sure you understand the implications on the PDF/A status.

"Recognize Text Using OCR" Option Grayed Out in Acrobat 9 Pro (9.5.1)

Running Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro. I'm working with electronically filed court documents. I regularly use the OCR tool (Document -> OCR Text Recognition -> Recognize Text Using OCR...) on these court documents.
Problem is, every once in awhile, I'll run into a document where the "Recognize Text Using OCR" option is inexplicably grayed out. I have no idea what is causing this. I have checked the Document Properties and confirmed there are no security restrictions for the document. It happens inconsistently, in that OCR will work with a document filed by an attorney in one case, but it won't work in the same kind of document filed by the same attorney in a different case.
Any help getting OCR to work on these few rogue documents is appreciated!

Properties tab "grayed out" in Acrobat 9 Pro

I built a form using Live Cycle in 9 Pro for Windows. I want to have the form open as a "two up", so I assumed I should change this in the Properties menu. When I go to the Initial View tab, it is grayed out, and won't let me change anything. How do I get this tab to allow me to change it? Help!

Edit button grayed out

I'm using Acrobat 10.1.13 on Mac OS X 10.9.5.
I have a form I created in Acrobat seven or eight years ago and have been using successfully since. I have edited it several times in the past. Today, I went to edit it and the Form Edit button is grayed out, for no apparent reason I can see. It is the only form option that is grayed out.
I searched the forum for similar reports; I examined the security and advanced security panels (nothing found, but I unchecked even the basic security that was there); I checked the document PDF/A setting (set it to "Never"), and it hasn't helped. I tried to "Save a copy" as recommended by another posting -- I found only "Save as... PDF," and when I tried that I was told "The document could not be saved. There was a problem reading this document (14)."
I can still edit the document and i can still print it (though I have to use Preview to print, because since I upgraded to Acrobat 10 I always get "The document count not be printed / There were no page selected to print" when I try to print from Acrobat, and have been unable to resolve that, either).
The form does pretty intricate inter-field computations, so it would be a serious effort to recreate from scratch.
Is there any way I can get this working again?

Application Developer has Application>Forms and Function
Setup Web ADI super user menu with Create Documents, Define Layout, Define Mapping, Manage Documents
Setup options and "Hidden" Enter Journals

Refer the section "Creating Form Functions Using the Create Document Page Flow" in Oracle Web Applications Desktop Integrator Implementation and Administration Guide. User to have system administrator responsibility assigned to have this feature enabled as this is a SysAdmin task.
THE BIG QUESTION - since "Oracle on Demand" will not allow their users to have System Administrator, how can I add the required functionality to the supplied Application Administrator and resolve the questions below?
Problem Description:
Web ADI – Create Document, Save to Form Function is grayed out, therefore it can not be used
1. How do we enable Web ADI functionality to Create document and Save to Form Function?
2. Once saved to form function how to we navigate to Application>Functions?
3. Once the Short cut is saved to the Form Function, how do we attach to a user’s responsibility?
We have only Application Administrator with no Applications> Functions menu, however we do have in our test instance Application Developer with Applications>Forms and Functions, but it does not appear to have the same rights as SysAdmin. I tried adding the menu functions simular to SysAdmin to Application Administrator but no luck unlocking (ungraying) the form.

Edit Window Grayed Out

When selecting a photo from thumbnails the program highlights the thumbnail, but then when I select the Edit button the photo shows up for a second, then the edit portion of the screen grays out replacing the photo with a framed question mark.
The last change made to my system was to reorginize photos, creating folders, etc, using my Mac HD window. The changed structure shows the photos there, but in iPhoto some of these folders appear empty.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi,
You have broken the golden rule of iPhoto: Never tamper with items in the iPhoto Library folder from inside the Finder. Any changes you make to the folders and files in the iPhoto Library folder break the links between your files and the iPhoto database.
Can you undo the changes you made? If so, your library might be salvageable.
Do you have a back-up library? If so, now is the time to use it.
If not, you have to create and populate a new library. You will lose your albums, keywords, books, etc. You will have your pictures and the same film rolls as before.
Move the iPhoto Library Folder to the desktop.
Launch iPhoto. Click "Create Library."
Go into the iPhoto Library Folder on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual rolls to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library Folder on your desktop.

Quick Edit Columns Grayed Out, Unable to Edit Data

I have a custom list that i want to edit using quick edit. some of the columns are editiable in quick edit mode but many are not. the column type is Multiple lines of text and when i click on it the column is grayed out and cannot be edited. any advice is

Did this issue only haapen to this one particular list?
Please check if there are more related ULS logs in 15 hive.
And also try saving this library as a template and create a new libarary based on it, then check if issue still exists, then change the "multiple lines of text" type
Enhanced rich text to
Rich text (even Plain text) if possible, then check again.

Transform function grayed out in PS CC

I had some text that I needed to rotate in PS CC (Win 7) and the Transform function on the drop down menu was grayed out.
The Control-T shortcut didn't work either. No bounding box would appear so I couldn't rotate the text.
I ended up saving my project to my hard drive, exited PS CC and then reopened PS CC and reopened my project. This time the Transform function was no longer grayed out and I could Transform/rotate my text.
This has happened multiple times and has to be a PS CC bug.
Is this issue being addressed by Adobe?

This is not normal Photoshop behavior and shouldn't be happening. Ergo, it's a bug.
Unexpected behaviour of an application does not automatically prove that behaviour to be a bug of that application.
Can you provide the file for others to test?

Why are my edit commands (copy and cut) grayed out / unavailable? When trying to copy a selected layer or object, all my editing commands are grayed out and unavailable. No idea why. Even if I convert something to a smart object, no joy. The only thing I seem to be able to select and copy/cut/paste is text in the text edit mode. makes no sense and is rendering PS unusable. How do I fix this?

Your seeing the transform handles with the move tool.
Try something like this:
Open an image
Click on the Rectangular Marquee Tool in the tool box
(just below or to the left of the move tool in the tool box)
(or press M on the keyboard)
Draw a selection (marching ants)
Edit>Copy
Edit>Paste
You should end up with a new layer with the copied contents from within the selection
