Edit in Photoshop command unavailble in Lightroom 3.4

I upgraded my Lightroom 2 to Lightroom 3 on a Windows 7 computer with Photoshop CS4 installed. When I first used Lightroom 3.1 the Edit In... command showed that the Edit in Photoshop and all the other Photoshop related commands were available and could be used. Several weeks ago, I upgraded my Photoshop CS4 to CS5. Now when I select the Edit In... command the only option available to me is the Edit in Other Application... command, all the rest of the commands are greyed out. How can I get Lightroom 3.4 to recognize that Photoshop CS5 is installed and available for use?

  • "Edit In Photoshop" command missing

I bought Lightroom and Photoshop Elements 10 last year (downloaded LR v4.3 yesterday) and sat down to learn how to use them together today (www.lynda.com Using Lightroom and Photoshop Together with Jan Kabili).
When I open LR the Photo -> Edit In -> Edit In Photoshop command is greyed out (non-functional).
I tried both solutions listed under 'Solution 3: On Mac OS' on the following help page including uninstalling and re-downloading and installing PS Elements 10 and it is still not working:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/multi/edit-photoshop-command-missing-photoshop.html
Please advise how to make your programs work together.  Surely, with Photoshop Elements installed and running on my computer Lightroom must be able to notice it.
    Bill.

I just realised what I was doing wrong.  I installed Photoshop Elements 10 but I was launching Photoshop Elements Editor not Photoshop Elements.  I had no idea there were multiple applications!  Now that I have launched the main Photoshop Elements Application (it then brings up a dialog where you select organize or edit) the "Edit in Photoshop Elements 10" menu item has appeared as expected in Lightroom.

  • Edit in Photoshop command

I am attempting to edit a file in lightroom 4 this is a tiff file generated from a scanned negative. If I adjust exposure and contrast and edit in photoshop(cs6) using the edit in photoshop command the file will open. If I then add a noise and sharpness adjustment the file will no longer open. If I return the noise and sharpness adjustments to zero the file will then open. Anyone have any idea what’s going on

  • Photoshop CC 2014 won't open Photos I choose to "Edit in Photoshop CC 2014" in Lightroom

I just downloaded Photoshop CC 2014 and uninstalled Photoshop CC.  Lightroom is updated as well.  However, now when I try to "Edit in Photoshop CC 2014" from Lightroom, the app will open but it does not load the photos I chose to edit.  How can I fix this?

  • Photoshop crashes when I use Edit in Photoshop CC 2014 from Lightroom 5.6

I have Adobe Lightroom 5.6.  Whenever I try to Edit in Photoshop CC (2014) when Photoshop has not been started, Photoshop immediately crashes with a message of:
Adobe Photoshop CC 2014 cannot be opened because of a problem.
This happens regardless of what option I choose to Edit in:  1) Copy with Lightroom adjustments, 2) Copy, or 3) Original
If Photoshop is already open, I don't have this problem.
I am running Mac OS X Mavericks.  Everything is up to date.
    How can I correct this?

That is not an application crash - that is a kernel panic, which means there is a hardware defect, a bug in the OS or a bug in a low level driver (like parts of the video driver).  Kernel panics are not caused by applications, but by defective hardware or bugs in the OS and drivers.
Resetting prefs may avoid the settings that triggered the crash - but the cause remains in the hardware, OS, or driver code.
Since Apple is not going to update the drivers in 10.6.8, your best bet is to update the OS when you can, and hope the new drivers are in better shape.  Unfortunately, it is also possible that you just have a bad GPU or video RAM - and fixing that would require replacing the video card or system (in the case of laptops or all-in-one machines).

  • Edit in Photoshop CC from within Lightroom 4.4

I have replaced a Windows 7 installation of Photoshop CS4, with CS6, then with Photoshop CC.  Now, when I right-click an image in LR to Edit in Photoshop, the menu option for Photoshop appears in the submenu as the Windows pathname to the old CS4 program, and I don't see an option to Edit In Photoshop CC.  Clicking on the option that's presented, and selecting to edit a copy, simply creates a new PSD in LR, then nothing.  Photoshop doesn't fire up.
[Edit] I have the same problem trying to 'Open with' in Bridge CC - it tries to use the old CS4 filepath to open Photoshop.
I've tried re-installing Lightroom but that hasn't fix it.
Please tell me how to update the 'Edit In' menu to show an option to run PSCC?
    Thanks for your help...

Problem was solved after a chat with Adobe Support.  It was a matter of changing a couple of filepaths in the Registry.

  • Edit in Photoshop Elements 9 from Lightroom 3 on a Mac

I can't seem to get the PS9 to open properly with my photo.  So I'm in LR3 and I right click and select 'edit in photoshop elements 9'.  It asks me if I want to 'edit a copy with lightroom adjustments' - I say yes and click 'edit'.
PS9 opens and I see the welcome screen with the PS9 editor behind it but neither have my photo loaded.  I can close the welcome screen but the editor still doesn't have my photo loaded.
How do I get PS9 to open my photo so I can edit it?
Any help appreciated - I'm probably just missing something simple but it's eluding me...

    Hillsitter,
I use a Windows PC and PSE Version 8.
However, I set up the link to PSE by going to Edit > Preferences and
clicking on the External Editing Tab.
I then clicked on the 'Choose' box and browsed to > Program Files > Adobe >
Photoshop Elements 8.0 and I then clicked on the Elements Organiser 8.0.exe
file to create the Link to the Elements Organiser. I could have linked to
    the PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe file.
I know this will be somewhat different on a Mac but the principle should be
the same i.e. link directly to the .exe file.
    I hope this helps.

  • Multiple Edits in Photoshop not saving into Lightroom?

In Lightroom 3 I was able to edit in Photoshop, save the file, then make another edit in photoshop and save it under a different name, and that file would also show up in Lightroom.
    For example;
in Lightroom I select "Image 1" and select edit in photoshop,
I edit this in photoshop and save.
    Lightroom shows "Image 1-edit"
I make another edit and select "Save As" and save it as "Image 1 Alternate".
"Image 1 Alternate" shows up in Lightroom next to "Image 1-edit"
This does not appear to be happening with Lightroom 4. Is there a setting I'm missing somewhere?
    Thanks for your replies

Additional "save as" edits are saved into Lightroom 3. It does not "break the link".
I'm assuming here that you are using Photoshop CS5.x and the current version of Camera Raw? If so, this is as expected...LR4 is using a pipeline that will match up to ACR 7 when it's released.
As it is now, LR4 must actually do the processing prior tp sending it to Photoshop. LR4 also has to save the file on disk prior to sending it to Photoshop.
If you were using ACR 7 in CS6 then ACR would actually be doing the processing and the behavior of this way of opening in Photoshop does NOT have to save the file prior to sending it to Photoshop. When ACR does the opening, you can do a Save or a Save As and Lightroom will know about those saves. Pretty LR4 doesn't know where the Save As file goes to and that's why it isn't showing up.
The two basic behaviors; LR synced with ACR and LR not synced with ACR goes back to version 2 (I think). It's a limitation in LR when LR and ACR aren't in sync.

  • Editing in photoshop, then returning to lightroom

I apologize if this has been asked before, but I've been searching for a while now and haven't found an answer.
If I select the 'edit in photoshop' option in lighroom, the images opens up in photoshop as expected.  If I then save the image in PS, it creases a new tiff version of the image which is then put back in lightroom.  If I go back into lightroom, and select my new PS edited image, and now apply one of my presets, the image looks horrible and not what the preset is supposed to look like.  I think it's because when you open up a canon RAW file, certain sliders are set at certain values.  For example, brighness is at +50 by default on a RAW file.  When I apply my preset the brightness goes up to +60.  However on my new PS edited tiff, the brightness is at 0, and when I apply the same preset, instead of going up by 10, it goes up to 60, which of course blows the whole image out since it's an increase of 60 and not 10 like if I applied the preset to the original RAW file.
My question is, is there anyway to reset the image somehow so a preset will look good on a PS edited tiff?
    Thanks.

    cjcraze wrote:
ok thanks.  Seems strange that Adobe doesn't have a way to convert a preset so that it will work on a rendered image.
Not at all...Presets are "Absolute Settings" meaning that the settings are being applied regardless of the original file's condition. A raw file and a rendered tiff (or psd) will be completely different...
You need to create a separate set of Presets for raw files and rendered files such as jpeg or tiff/psd files. It's an either/or situation...
Note, Quick Develop settings ARE "relative" vs. "absolute" so you can adjust both raw files and rendered files using QD.

  • Using Develop module on NEF stops 'Edit in Photoshop' command from working.

    Started with LR5 CS6 CR8.1
Suddenly when a raw image has been porcessed by the Develop Module the (ctrl-E) 'open in Photoshop' command does not work for that image. It works for images that have not been 'developed'.
I have deleted LR preferences several times.
    I have upgraded to LR5.2RC and CR8.2RC.
As far as I remember this catalog was new as LR5.
    Any ideas please?

Creating a new catalogue and importing the images does not resolve the problem.
The problem is only occuring on a few images from a particular collection.
Creating a virtual copy also will not edit in photoshop.
Creating a virtual copy and reseting the develop settings will allow the ctrl-e command to work.
However, manually re-applying the develop settings once again stops the ctrl-e command working.

  • Edit in Photoshop not working from Lightroom

Hi, I've just upgraded to CS5 and LR 3.2. From within LR I can Edit in Photoshop Elements but the Edit in Photoshop doesn't work. Just get some screen refresh flashing around, "Loading" displays then nothing. Even with CS5 already up and running. Anyone got any good news for me?
    John

If configuring it as above didn't work, did you by chance, after doing the upgrade, remove an earlier adobe product?  This often happens when people upgrade by installing CS5 and LR, then uninstall CS4, for example.  You need to (easiest way) reinstall CS5 and LR should be able to see it.
There are other threads in the archive about it..
If, of course you haven't uninstalled anything, then there are other remedies in the archives as well (including a registry update method).
    In any event, good luck!
    Cheers!

  • When I take a photo and try to edit in Photoshop Elements 11 from Lightroom 4, it brings me to PSE 11 and opens the photo in there, but doesn't allow me to do anything - no layers, masks...anything.

I work on a PC - Windows Vista, and currently use Lightroom 4. When I try to choose the 'edit in' option and go to PSE11, it will go there and open the file, but it won't let me do anything with it.  All the buttons/masks...etc are faded out and when I scroll over them a circle with a line through it comes up. Is there any way to fix this so that when I edit-in from Lightroom to PSE11 that I can actually use it? And if not, how should I save my files then so I can re-open them in PSE11? Would they need to be JPEGs, or something else? I shoot in RAW.
    Thanks in advance!

  • Lightroom 2.2 edit in Photoshop CS4 command

Hello. I've tried to search for this topic in the frequently asked question, however I do not quite know how to enter it in the search field. I have a MacBook Pro 17" and have PSCS4 and LR 2.2. Earlier I was opening an Olympus RAW file using the "Edit in" command in LR2.2. The photo would open in ACR and then I could tweak the setting, if need be, then it would open in Photoshop and I could use the all the filters. I believe, not sure, that it opened as a jpeg after I clicked the open image button in ACR. Now, when using "Edit in..." command it will open the photo as an Olympus RAW file, skipping ACR and I will only be able to use a few of the filters.
Was I mistaken when I opened the previous files as RAW then converted to jpeg in ACR? How can I open the RAW file as a Jpeg and roundtrip the whole affair?
I hope this was written clear enough.
Thank you for taking the time to read this post.
    Sincerely

I think you've missed the part that she's starting out in
    b Lightroom.
There is absolutely NO reason to take a file from Lightroom into ACR, jpeg or otherwise. I don't think it's even possible, regardless of how ACR is set up.
    Her quote:
    >Earlier I was opening an Olympus RAW file using the "Edit in" command in LR2.2. The photo would open in ACR and then I could tweak the setting,
makes no sense at all. (even if it actually is a jpeg)
    I agree there's definitely some confusion ....
I think her goal is to end up with a jpeg after using the Edit in Photoshop command in LR. A file opened in PS from LR using EIP is still technically a RAW file ... until it's saved. The default Save behavior is either PSD or TIFF depending on LR's prefs. To save as a jpeg, you'd need to do a Save As from PS. I think her main problem is that the file is 16 bit - which prevents the jpeg option.
