Edit in photoshop loses chromatic aberration corrections

Hi
I have a problem I have not noticed before... when I do a chromatic aberration correction in Lightroom, then do "Edit in Photoshop",  it opens in PS but the chromatic aberration is still there, uncorrected. It seems to be applying other corrections okay, just not the CA correction.
If I export the image as a tiff, then open it in PS, the chromatic aberration correction looks good. See the images below.
I have been using Lightroom for years but not in the last year. I don't have the memory I used to have so I keep thinking I am just doing something wrong. Can anyone help?
Thanks,
Steve

Mitch,
I have seen the same when working with Adobe photo editors and in my case it turned out there were multiple copies of the image, one flattened and one with the layers. I need to nail this one down so I will get on this it evening when I get some time. In the mean time, check and see if there is another copy with the layers intact.

  • Presets for chromatic aberration correction?

I've been wondering about this one for a while - is this actually possible?
I believe that it hinges on the following - I know c.a. varies based on focal length, so I'd have to create a preset for each possible focal length from my zoom as I happen to use them.
But, does it also vary within a focal length by the focus distance?  In which case, a preset is clearly not possible.
    Thanks for any help.

I'd love to see geometric distortion, vignetting and chromatic aberration correction based on lens/camera combination built into Lightroom.  I happen to be a Canon owner and though this functionality is available in Canon's Digital Photo Professional software, using it does mean a trip through Yet Another Program.  Having everything integrated in lightroom makes life a lot easier (just think of Lightroom's excellent integration of ACR functionality).
BTW: there is an open thread called "Auto Chromatic Aberration Correction" in the "Lightroom Feature Requests" forum.  You might consider posting your request there.

  • Images edited in Photoshop not showing up correctly in Lightroom after saving

    Hi,
I recvently got Adobe cloud and upgraded from Lightroom 3 to 4.  Since the upgrade I have been having issues with Lightroom not correctly displaying images edited in Photoshop.  Instead of the photoshop image it creates a new jpeg and displays that in the library.  the PSD does not get loaded into the library.
I am taking a jpeg from my library and shoosing the edit in Photoshop function.  I am selecting edit a copy, but have tried it with original and with edit a copy with lightroom adjustments as well with the same results.
In Photoshop I am duplicating the base layer, upscaling the image, running some filters, adding dsome adjustment layers.
I save the image in Photoshop format back to the original folder where the initial jpeg was in the Lightroom library.  I save it with maximize compatibility on.
When I go back to Lightroom, the catalog displays two files, the initial jpeg and an identical copy to it, NOT the new photoshop file with alterations.  If I go to the folder the images are housed in in Finder using the show in Finder command both images link to the same original jpeg.  The photoshop edited file is there in the folder but does not show up in Lightroom unless I drag and drop it.
I have turned off all filters and made sure the sort is sorting by name.  The image does not automatically show up in Lightroom after editing.  Any suggestions?
    Thanks for any help!
PS. I did search the topic and there are threads from 2007 and lightroom 2 but their solution was to start from scratch essentially and I have a carefully tagged, starred, and labeled catalog of 30,000+ images and really don't want to do that

Images that are edited in Photoshop will be displayed automatically in Lr only when the image-file saved in Photoshop is the same as the one opened from Lr.
You say you open a JPG from Lr, then edit it in PS by - among other things - adding some layers. Layers are not supported in the JPG-format so you have to either save it as a psd or as a jpg-copy.
In either case this is not the same image file as the one opened in Lr, so it will have to be imported into Lr to show up. If you would flatten your image after editing in PS and then do a <save> to your JPG - not a <save as> - it will show up in Lr.
PS: the only exception is when you open a Raw image from Lr in PS and you save it in PS in the file format specified in Lr for external editing. The saved file will automatically show in LR.

  • Editing in Photoshop loses edits previously made in Aperture

Repeatedly after I have cropped and edited a photo in Aperture then selected Edit in Photoshop, once the image opens in photoshop, the edits are gone except for the crop. What is the issue?

Make sure you run Lightroom 2.1. Many bugs regarding this were fixed in that update. Photoshop CS3 needs to have ACR 4.6. Likely it will work fine if you make sure you install those two.
Most of the times when people think this does not work it is because they are in the wrong view (for example a filtered view) to see the edited file show up, or the sorting behavior of the view is wrong making the file show up all the way at the bottom instead of right next to your edit. The best way to see what happens is to be in Folder View or in All Photographs with all filters turned off and with sorting turned to capture time.

  • Edit in photoshop from lightroom 5.5 does'nt work

    Hi,
I'm a CC member and I've installed 2014 version of all CC products that I use on my PC (win 7 64bits)
When I use Lightroom, the command "edit in photoshop" doesn't work correctly: photoshop is started but nothing else happens: no photo in photoshop.
I deinstall-reinstall Lightroom with the same result.
This worked fine with the precedent version.
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi PJ,
I am searching this forum for the same issue. I am a hobbyist photographer, who used to work on LIghtroom first and then open the same photo from LR to photoshop CC and made few minor adjustment. After installing CC 2014 version, this feature is gone. Photoshop CC is opening and nothing is happening. Again, I have to open the image in photoshop CC manually, which is really annoying. Hope someone from photoshop team is listening.

  • Zoom does not reflect Chromatic Aberration in Develop

    Hello
Have anyone noticed that in LR 1.0 (last build) the chromatic aberration correction shows up correctly if image is zoomed (for precise correction) but remains the same (not corrected) if the "fit" zoom is restored?
I corrected some .ORF (Olympus) RAW and found that if zoomed the correction (after playing with CA cursors) is ok (no more visible red/green fringe) but restoring the default zoom to see the full image doesn't show the corrections made. And the aberration is very strong so is visible even at "fit" zoom.
Does the Develop module not resample/redraw the image using a preview?
I think can be misleading to correct CA and not see changes reflected at all zooming.

    Great.
These changes aren't viewable in the Develop module, except at 1:1. Gee, real helpful for 24 megapixel images... viewing at 1:1 that is. Unless, of course, I have a 42" high-quality LCD that, oh, doesn't exist yet.
And the Library module will probably just show the image with banding/JPEG macroblocking, so, no use there.
So, looks like the only option to view your CA/noise/sharpening-adjusted image fitted on your screen in high quality is to first EXPORT the file then VIEW in a viewer OTHER than LR.
Fascinating, how LR is such a wonderful image EDITOR, but is worse than just about every other piece of software out there for VIEWING.
Sorry, but even hyperbole doesn't suffice here. It's really just shocking that LR is the crappiest image *viewer* I've seen to date.
Actually, more shocking to me is that it seems that people *don't even care* about LR's sub-par viewing capabilities. Save for all my posts and one corroborating post by Andrew Rodney & another one by someone I can't remember (apologies!) -- no one has complained about the ridiculously horrid image quality when viewing images outside of the 'Develop' module. I mean, for a program that's all about 'aesthetics' and 'focusing on the image' (lights out mode, etc.), why show me a sub-par view of my images? Aren't my images the most important part of the whole picture??
And what's with all these optimizations for speed? Cutting corners here and there for speed...? On my 5400RPM hard drive MacBook Pro (ok, fine, Core 2 Duo w/ 2 GB of RAM), LR is *blazing* fast and I work with 120MB 16-bit film scans and I NEVER find myself sitting around for LR to perform a calculation, etc. It's *fast enough*... now how about putting some emphasis on *quality* back into the program rather than crippling the program so it runs faster (or not, if you have a decent machine anyway)?
Or how about at least giving us the *option* to enable purportedly 'high-end' features like, uh, viewing an image in full quality when presenting a slideshow to friends, or, *gasp*, PAYING CLIENTS...!!
Gosh I love Lightroom, and have mad respect for the developers... they are brilliant, intelligent, revolutionizing everything. But, man, sometimes these fundamental omissions, and lack of their recognition by the community at large, drive me insane!
Many apologies for the rant, since I know some people out there would like to bite my head off for being so caustic :-P

  • Odd Issue Editing in Photoshop with color and lens corrections

First off, I'm on LR 4.4 and PS CS6 (Camera Raw 7.4.0.137) using ProPhoto RGB as my LR colorspace and have my PS color settings as Working Space: ProPhoto RGB and my color management policies to preserve embedded profiles.
When I right click on a DNG in LR and choose "Edit in Photoshop", LR sends it to PS and PS does its "Reading in Camera Raw Format" and opens the image.  However, the colors are off (very muted) and any lens corrections I've applied in LR are missing.  My monitor (iMac on OSX 10.8) is calibrated with a Spyder.  I've also noticed that if I choose to edit in another application, it renders the tiff fine and the color and lens corrections are correct in the tiff.
Anyone have any ideas what my issue is?
    Thanks,
    Matt
ETA: After some experimenting, it seems that the "Adobe Standard" profile is what gets sent to Photoshop.  The rest (Camera Landscape, Portrait, etc.) are ignored. What's going on here?

Sounds like you need to reset your warning dialog. Preferences>General>Prompts [Reset all warning dialogs]
Then try it again and make certain of the three choices you are Editing a Copy with Lightroom Adjustments.

  • Making Text Editable in AE loses the effects from Photoshop.

I have to animate text and have finally gotten that process down .. but one
problem left. The original text is made in Photoshop CS3 with shadow,
bevel/emboss effects on it. When I make the text editable in AE so I can

Is there any way to retain the drop shadow and bevel/emboss and still make

Thanks, Andrew .. I think I see what you mean and will try that.  If I <br />understand correctly, my importing the PSD as a composition means I only <br />imported the text and not the effects.  I did try importing as footage, but <br />that wasn't editable either.  I will follow your steps and see if I can get <br />this down.<br /><br />Many thanks!<br />Nancy<br /><br /><[email protected]> wrote in message <br />news:[email protected]...<br />> Hi Nancy,<br />><br />> While it sounds like you've achieved your objective - good news!- I'll <br />> point out a few things for future projects.<br />><br />> Your final solution means that you've dragged a Nested Composition into <br />> your main composition (meaning one composition inside another). • Correcting chromatic aberration

    Hello all
Why is there no option to correct chromatic aberration in the RAW procedure?
Nikon Capture NX2 can do that easily. The correction algorithm looks very good there.
I love the Aperture interface but finally what counts is simply image quality.
    Thanks

Clearly this is not a question.
Perhaps consider using batch CNX and save out tif and use Aperture as an alternative workflow.
CNX can remove CA on most Nikkor lenses because its their own proprietary format (nef) with their own lens database and with their own bodies, and their own software. You're not really surprised are you?
Maybe the next version of Aperture will have some CA removal capabilities... There is a suggestion submittal for Aperture.

  • The chromatic aberration checkbox that should be under lens corrections is missing

The chromatic aberration check box that should be present under lens corrections is missing from my LR4 program, can anyone tell me what the problem is and how to get it back

What version of LR4 are you using? There was a change made to the CA removal process in LR4.1, and the "Remove Chromatic Aberration" check box is now under the "Color" tab of the Lens Correction panel.

  • Can Photoshop CS3 Cut Chromatic Aberration (Purple Fringing) On Hi-Contrast Photos?

Some cameras such as the Panasonic FZ38 claim to eliminate chromatic aberration (purple fringing on high contrast pictures) from their lenses electronically.
If that is so, I would have thought that an app like PS CS3 (which has far more computing power) might be able to do the same.
Can it do this simply and quickly? I am fairly sure it can be done manually by spending hours retouching . . . . but that's not what I want!

  • Fixing chromatic aberrations in Photoshop in PS4

Is it possible? No lens correction in 4 but can it be done another way?

Yes open , adn chosoe phtohsop raw for file format. This will force a jpg, psd or tif into the camera raw filter. The 6th icon over is the one you are looking for.
Or Filter >> distort >> lens correction
is where else you will find chromatic abberation correction.
Definitley look into a better lens matchup, if you get this often. I changed camera body and used my old lens, and have not seen any fringe colors in over 6 months.

  • Edit in Photoshop CC in Lightroom 4 opens Photoshop CC on my backup drive (OS X 10.8)

    Hello,
I am having an issue with Lightroom 4 that only began after I installed Photoshop CC.
Every night I clone my iMac to a bootable backup drive.  With Photoshop CS6 I had no problems with this.  Now, whenever I choose "Edit in Photoshop CC" from Lightroom, it opens the copy of Photoshop on my backup drive instead of the copy on my local drive.  I have tried everything I can think of to correct this behavior, bit every time it reverts back to doing this.  If I eject my backup drive it will then choose the correct copy of Photoshop CC.  But the next time I launch Lightroom, it will tell me that the location of Photoshop CC has changed and make me enter my system password.  Then it starts using the version off the backup drive again!
This is very frustrating.  I don't want to have to unmount my backup drive every time I lose Lightroom.  I've tried reinstalling both Photoshop CC and Lightroom 4.
Between this and my continuing inability to publish to Facebook, I'm starting to think Adobe just wants me to upgrade to Lightroom 5.

Moving this discussion to the Photoshop General Discussion forum.
Alexanderzhang have you tried the suggestions offered in http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1103610?  They have steps on how to remove and add applications in this forum thread.

  • Chromatic aberration being introduced to RAW file by PS CS3

I have been working on some old photos (Canon 10D RAW files) and when I open the files in Photoshop I find that the file has severe chromatic aberration (introduced upon opening). While in ACR, the file is fine (no CA) but when it opens in PS there are significant green and red shifts (unfixable using the lens correction filter). This happens regardless of whether I open the file as a smart object, a 16 bit or 8 bit file. I have recently loaded OSX 10.5.1, and the PS version is 10.0.1. Has anyone else had this problem?

    >While in ACR, the file is fine (no CA)
You may need to zoom into the corners of the image to 200-400% to see and correct CA as well as other fringing. The Lens correction DOES produce reduced or eliminated defringing if you properly use it. If you have a question, post the raw file.
