Edit in Photoshop - opening original file, no adjustments, no options

I have LR4 and CS5, when I right click on the photo to edit in photoshop I don't have any options as to how I want to open the file such as original, edited with LR adjusemnts, etc.  When the file immediately opens in photoshop it is opening without any of the global adjusments I made in LR.
It was working earlier and now (no settings changed to my knowledge) its not working properly?

Bob,
OK. If you have CR 6.7, I think, in PS CS5, you'll not get the option. Do your Lightroom changes actually not make it to Photoshop? As an experiment, make a big, noticable change and send that image to PS.

  • Edit in Photoshop - Photoshop opens the file doesn't load

I'm using Photoshop Elements 7 and Photoshop CS4. Previously when I chose the Edit in Photoshop option from PSE7 Photoshop CS4 would launch and the selected image would be loaded. Now when I choose Edit in Photoshop from PSE7 Photoshop CS4 launches but the selected image is not loaded. Can anyone point me in the direction for a resolution on this? Thanks!

  • Edit in Photoshop opens images upside down

    I'm using Lightroom 2.0 and PhotoShop CS3.
I'm on an Intel Mac running Leopard, with Lightroom 2.0 and Photoshop 10.0.1
I have a problem with opening images in Photoshop from Lightroom where those images were taken on a particular camera - a Fuji FinePix 9500.
Choosing Edit in Photoshop CS3 from the Lightroom Library module opens these images upside down.
Choosing Open as smart object in Photoshop also opens these images upside down.
The images are DNG files but trying the same action with the original RAW files displays the same problem.
Opening the same files directly into Photoshop CS3 displays the images correctly.
Opening the same files from Bridge CS3 displays the images correctly
Opening the same files from Lightroom version 1 displayed the images correctly.
Opening files from an older Fuji FinePix 4900 open correctly in Photoshop.
In Lightroom itself, the thumbnails, loupe views and slideshow images are all oriented correctly.
Can anyone shed any light on this?

Probably the same bug that opens my D70 images rotated 90 degrees. No problems with my other cameras, only the D70. Adobe know about it, but it would be worth logging your bug on their report form:-

  • Edit in Photoshop opens wrong location

This is strange. I have been a user of Lightroom and Photoshop since their first versions. I am running an early 2011 MacBook Pro with the latest versions of everything. I subscribe to Creative Cloud.
Until recently, choosing to edit a file in Photoshop via Lightroom's "edit in" resulted in the file opening my Photoshop application on my boot drive. Now, it defaults to opening the file for editing using the Photoshop application on my backup drive, which is a 2 1/2" drive stuck in a USB "toaster" and much slower. I am using Carbon Copy Cloner to perform hourly backups. This also occurs if I open a file through Bridge. When edited, the edited file gets saved in the correct location on my boot drive. I have tried everything that I know to change this. It has to be an "Adobe" thing, because if I simply open the file directly from the finder, it is opened by the Photoshop on my boot drive. Does anyone have a solution to this?
    Thanks in advance . . . . .

This page might have information that will help – look for the Mac-specific section:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/multi/edit-photoshop-command-missing-photoshop.html
In your situation you might want to temporarily remove your external drive just before deleting your plist file, and get things working with the internal-drive-PS, before hooking up the external drive, again.

  • I have edited in Photoshop a RAW file from LR

I've edited a RAW file from LR catalogue by 'Edit in Photoshop'.  I've saved the edited file both as  a TIF file and as a JPEG but only the RAW file and TIF files are visible in the LR catalogue.  When I right click to 'show in Finder', there is the JPEG file in the same folder.  Why can't I see it in the LR catalogue please?
    Thanks in advance.

If you go into your Lightroom Preferences and look at the External Editing tab, it will show you what the settings are for sending a file to Photoshop. More than likely you are set to TIFF. So Edit in Photoshop will create a TIFF image that includes the current Lightroom adjustments. This file is automatically added to the catalog. Once in Photoshop you can do all your editing and then click Save will save the TIFF out and it will show up in your Lightroom catalog. If you do something else like Save As or Save for Web, then those files will not end up in the catalog.
If you did happen to save those other versions to the same folder as your Raw then in Lightroom you can Rt Click that folder and select Synchronize and it will add them in. If you saved them somewhere else then your only option is to Import them into your catalog
Very common practice. Especially for those that want to keep all client files together and then send everything (catalog, raw, TIFF's, PSD's, JPEG's) off to an archive drive.

  • "Edit in Photoshop" opening Photoshop on external backup drive

When I use the "Edit in Photoshop CC" command in LR 5, it is opening Photoshop CC that is located on an external backup drive (a clone of my boot drive) connected to my computer via USB 3.0.
How do I force LR to open the Photoshop CC on my boot drive?
    I'm running OS X Yosemite 10.10.1.

It didn't work because you told iTunes where to store media from this point on, not where the old media are located.  Your "library" is more than media the way a city library is more than a pile of books in an empty lot somewhere.
Hopefully you copied the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive. If you did, open iTunes and immediately hold down the option (alt) key (shift on Windows) so you get a prompt to select a library, then guide it to the 'iTunes Library.itl' file in the moved iTunes folder. If you didn't then do so or you will have to rebuild the iTunes window structure from scratch.

  • Photoshop opens all files as transparent

I installed the CS4 Suite. When Photoshop comes up the background layer is transparent. This happens even if I open a file with Photoshop. In that case, the Layer icon shows the image but what I see on screen is only the checkerboard pattern. The proper way for the New file to show up is with the background a solid (specified) color and for an opened file the actual image being opened.  How do I correct this?

In Photoshop Edit/Preferences there is a GPU Settings area listing my “NVIDIA Corporation Quadro NVS 285/PCIe/SSE2”  graphics card and showing the “Enable OpenGL Drawing” checked. (There is also an [Advanced Settings…] button with various GL Settings activated.) However it is not until I uncheck Enable OpenGL Drawing that I can see an image when I open up an existing .psd file—otherwise it shows up as a transparent area (checkerboard pattern) with the image showing only in the (Background) Layer Icon.
I have updated the driver for the NVIDIA Quadro NVS 285 with the Quadro/Tesla Desktop Driver Release 304     [ http://www.nvidia.com/object/quadro-tesla-win8-win7-winvista-64bit-307.45-whql-driver.html   ]
Because Photoshop accurately recognizes and lists my graphics card in its Preferences settings (and because I am using the latest driver release for that card) I must assume Photoshop has recognized and accepted my NVIDIA graphics card.
So the question remains, given that Photoshop recognizes the graphics card and the graphics card driver has been up dated (OS: Win7 Professional):
        a)    What is Photoshop needing now?    And
        b)    What can I do to Enable OpenGL Drawing?

  • Acrobat PDF edited in Photoshop opens with different proportions in Acrobat

I opened an Adobe Acrobat drawing PDF in Photoshop. I then cropped and rotated the image in Photoshop.
When I reopened the image in Acrobat Professional, the proportions had changed. The image was stretched vertically.
How can I get the image to reopen correctly in Acrobat Professional, after editing in Photoshop? I have a feeling it has to do with a setting in Photoshop.

Thank you for replying as nobody else did.
I've already switched back to A9.
I shouldn't have to upgrade again - I should be able to use the software I just paid for.
Sorry if that sounds rude but I can't be the only person who had that issue.

  • How can I save multiple separate edited images from one original file?

I shoot NEF raw images and am getting used to the way LR5 editing works without altering the file in any way. Now I wonder how I can create multiple edited images this way.

Thank you, that was spot on. It will help a great deal right now as I am taking multiple crops from shots of the ocean looking for something striking.
I doesn't seem to matter if I take a copy while editing or before I start editing, I can always reset the original and start again.
Is it possible to rename the copy? I had a look around here and in LR Help but rename doesn't come together with virtual copy.

    Thanks in advance,

    Hi Ali,
Thanks for your answer, it helped us a lot. We solved the problem with original files - it was content server error. Now we are trying to implement WebDocuments in another SAP system and got error message when starting WebDocuments:

Calling the BSP page was terminated due to an error.

  • Photoshop opening Javascript File as an Image

I have a series of Applescript droplets that perform a number of functions, then launch a javascript file in Photoshop
    The codes looks like this:
This has worked consistenlty for a year, but recently started throwing an error with certain javascript files.  Photoshop is trying to open the javascript file as an image.  The "do javascript" applescript command no longer works in Photoshop.  Does anybody have any idea what I might need to change to get Phootshop to run the javascript as a script?
    Thank you

Hum, I've NOT heard of any issues with AppleScript's do javascript command… From the snippet posted I would have expected Photoshop to try open the file thats what you asked it to do… Photoshop CS5 had an issue with AppleScript's alias file specifiers… It now prefers you pass a string then inside the tell app block state its a file… Im CS5 and this works just fine…
set jsFile to (path to desktop as text) & "AlertMe.jsx" -- text/string not alias
    tell application "Adobe Photoshop CS5"
      activate
              tell current document
do javascript file jsFile -- include the specifier file
              end tell
    end tell
I only asked for the doc name in an alert but it worked…
    alert( app.activeDocument.name );

Do you get this in the window when you try to view the full sized version?
Or just the message you mentioned? If it's just the message that means the original file is missing.
Try opening the backup library while it's on the EHD by launching iPhoto with the Option key held down and selecting the library.  Does it exhibit the same problem?
