Edit Log Glitch. PS-CS3. PS won't open. Stuck. HELP!

Photoshop glitched during a save of an image that had been opened from Aperture 3, and now I can't open PS at all. Need help. The error message I get is: "Couldn't open the edit log file Photoshop Edit Log. Edit logging is disabled." I'm running Photoshop from Adobe Creative Suite 3 Design Standard, Mac OS X 10.7.3
SInce I can't get into PS, I have no way of getting into the preferences settings.
Can anyone out there walk me through how to reset or delete the corrupted edit log and create a new one? or tell me what I need to do, since I really have no clue? :-)

Where did you tell it to save its editing steps in Photoshop Edit.log? That's where the file should be.
A general preferences reset may be required. Press and hold Control - Shift - Command immediately after doing a cold-start of Photoshop. You have to be very quick to get the keys pressed down, and if you are quick enough it will prompt you to confirm the deletion of the preferences.

CS3 InDesign won't open a CS2 In Design .INX file.
I sent my graphic designer an .INX file created on CS2
and he got an error message and said he could not open.
He said it is not possible.
He lost the job - because he didn't want to investigate further.
I can't imagine ADOBE leaving this problem unsolved!
What do I do??

I don't recall that. I can visualise the situation, but then I would expect it to create the same lost feature problems as encountered in opening with an earlier version. So there would still be a risk that the file would lose something in translation.
And then again, if a CS2 plug-in has been used and is required to open the file, I would expect the translation into XML to ignore anything that can't be translated, and for the depleted file still to open in CS3.

Please do not post questions more than once. It makes it difficult for you as well as those who will try to answer. I don't have an answer for you. However:
What operating system?
What version of Lightroom?
How much RAM?
Did you install anything new?
What version of Camera Raw are using in Photoshop CS5?
If you can provide more details, it might make it easier for someone to provide you with an answer.

Sydneybling it does sound like your security software is interfering with the process of installing and utilizing your Adobe Creative applications. I would recommend that you try temporarily disabling your security software and utilizing the directions listed at Install and update apps - https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/install-apps.html to install InDesign CC.

If your Elements workspace is not loading then i think it is the problem with the Editor's preferences.

Problem solved. It helps to use CS5 to open a CS5 document. When you use the right key, the door opens. Lesson: Don't store installation discs of inactive versions with installation discs of current versions.

CS3 Trial won't open

I have installed and reinstalled the trial of Flash CS3. When
I open the app I get to the screen to enter lisense code or try.
Thats as far as it will go. I had PSCS3 Beta installed but
uninstalled it before this install. Any sugestions?

I am pretty sure if you install a trial version, then
uninstall it, then reinstall it, it will not
work - if it did there would be no incentive to buy it as you
could, in theory, uninstall/reinstall
every 30 days and use Flash for free. Did the trial time out
after 30 days of use before you tried

Lightroom 5 Catalog Won't Open - PLEASE HELP

Hi,
So, my most important lightrooom catalog won't open and I don't know what to do. Screenshot below. I guess it didn't shut down before I ejected my hard drive.

Look in the backups folder, there should be several folders that are dated, look in the latest date and open that catalog, depending how much time was between the last back up and your last work, will determine how much work you lost.
What I recommend (hind site here) is once you get your catalog open is save a catalog first in a location easy to get to, normally where your old corrupted catalog was. then select all images then save. (ctrl/cmd-s) This will write the metadata to your files on the drive or side car files(depending how you set it up and if they are raw or jpg. ) Then you will have this for a backup, as you will know that all edits you have done are in the metadata, therefore you can create a new catalog and import all files to get back to where you were.
That said, use this method as a last case scenario, normally using a back up catalog would be good enough. However, if something happened to that main folder, like corrupted segments on the drive, you would have your images to fall back on, or at least those you can access.
But if your backing up to an external drive, you should be alright anyway.
I tend to go over board with backing up since I had a drive that crash a few years ago.

LR6 downloaded/installed but won't open. Help screens didn't help.

I am logged into my creative cloud account. I downloaded and installed the new LR upgrade but it won't open using either of the methods in help. I have tried a restart, no joy. Me too. Tried to get Adobe to help. After 30 minutes someone answered the telephone. Support person implied he's never heard of such a thing. Posted problem on forum. Someone asked me about my computer specs. Tried the support chat feature. Waited forever. Nobody at Adobe responded to chat request. Eventually got a robot email form Adobe stating the problem is solved and issue officially closed. Before this afternoon I had a working LR. Now, I have one LR that is partially functional and one that doesn't open.

Did an Apple Store repair your Mac at some point?
If so, it sounds like they reinstalled the OS and then migrated your applications from the old HD.
Bad. Bad. BAD.
The Final Cut Studio installer places many files at system level, some are in folders that are normally invisible to the user. Migration does not bring those files across, so FCP will not work properly and will typically refuse to open.
Back to the digitalrebellion site for you.
This time, get a free copy of FCS Remover. Run it and then completely re-install FCS from the original DVD set.

Thank you doesn't say it strongly enough, but THANK YOU b noir and Lorraine for your help. I was to the boiling point last night and starting to get there tonight. Now I am resting easy and thankful that there is a community of computer users out there who care enough to troubleshoot problems together and work together to figure out a solution--and then to take the time to post and share information.
I would STRONGLY suggest that anyone who is having the iTunes issues where iTunes just plain won't open at all after downloading the newest version and has a pc with Norton Internet Security 2005 try the "Lorraine Method."
I am so happy I think I might sing. Or not--I will let my songs on iTunes do the singing for me now that I can again!!!!!!!
And to those still looking for answers--be patient--I now know how incredibly frustrating this can be and I hope that you all find your solutions very very soon!!

Itunes 10 Installs but won't open - Please Help

I had Itunes 10 installed working on my computer. I installed a program which also installed an older version of Quicktime which I think was version 6.5. The next time I tried to open Itunes it said I needed verion 7.5 of Quicktime to open Itunes please reinstall Itunes. Now comes the problem. I have installed and uninstalled Itunes about 10 times, everytime it install ok but does not open when I click on the icon. The itunes.exe file opens in task manager for a few seconds then closes. I have searched a few places for solutions with no avail. I have tried the correct order of removing apple programs and deleting temp folder and internet cache. I have tries msconfig but can't find any of the programs which have affected other users. I have tried creati9ng another user account for windows but Itunes still won't open. Can anyone please help. My computer is Windows 7 32 bit. Thank in advance.

No, the program I installed was Winavi MP4 which coverts video to ipod psp format etc.
Ack, that one's just as bad. It's been causing this sort of grief for iTunes users for over five years now.
What it has probably done here is drop old versions of QuickTime componentry in unorthodox locations on the PC (usually down in your operating system files). So we're going to go looking for that.
First we'll adjust some view settings on the PC.
1. From the Start menu, click Open.
2. In the Organize menu, click Folder and Search Options.
3. Click the View tab.
4. In the "Advanced settings" pane under "Hidden files and folders" make sure that the "Show hidden files and folders" option is selected, and the "Hide extensions for known file types" option is unchecked.
5. Click OK.
Now, in Computer, open your C drive (or whichever drive your operating system is installed on).
Open the "Windows" folder.
Open the "System32" folder.
What files or folders can you see in there with QuickTime in the file or folder name? (In a standard installation of QuickTime, you should see precisely two files ... QuickTime.qts and QuickTimeVR.qtx ... and no QuickTime folders whatsoever.)

Your reply suggests that you have moved Mail to a different location, which (as I said) will prevent it from being properly updated. You cannot use Mail 4.5 with any recent version of Mac OS X. Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) included Mail 5 and Mac OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion) includes Mail 6. I'm assuming that you have either Lion or Mountain Lion, but if that is incorrect, you will need to provide that information.
At this point, you will need to reinstall your system. Hold down command-R at startup and reinstall the system right on top of the old one. This should not disturb any of your documents or applications, though you should have backups beforehand in case something goes wrong. And at this point, with your system in an uncertain state (I don't entirely know what you have done to it), something could go wrong.
You will also want to delete the old copy of Mail 4.5, wherever that is. You can't use it.
In the future, do not move any of the preinstalled applications. Leave them where they are.
