Edit Material component in Standard Wbs template

Hi is it possible to change the value of material quantity of a standard wbs template? how would i do that? is it also possible in CN02? if not please advise other ways.

I have created a project with the following structure:
Project Defination (Construction of Sub station)
      Main WBS
               Level 1 WBS
                         Level 2 WBS
                                   Network for level 2 WBS
                                                  Activity (Procuring Material)
                                                             Material Component - MATXXX (Stock Item)
Now in the above structure i have a activity where in i am procuring all the materails required to construct a Substation.
So under this activity i have assigned all the materials which are needed to build Substaion.
After i change the status of the project to release, there a reservation created for the quantity of the material which i have mentioned in the material component under the activity.
Now my querey is, how should i create a Purchase requisition for the reserved materail quantity in order to bring in the stock against the WBS / network / Project ?

Hi Sudarshan,
In your case you can run Me5J to check the list of PR created against your project.
Then Create PO and similarly you can check list of PO in Me2J.
Then followed by GR and check if any GR release exist in MIGO. Then once after doing GR you can check the Material in Stock which will move material from Unrestricted stock to Project Stock which you can check it in MMBE.
Then you can do the Good Issue in MIGO itself and run MIRO to complete the cycle.

Project Coding in Standard WBS project template

How is the project coding taken while coping from standard project template.
For example the Trandard project template is XXXzzz10
XXXzzz10-01 and so on
How will the subsequent projects be created from the templates with what coding mask.

hi,
subsequent projects created by using Copy Project function will be based on the key that the system automatically determines.
if you have a coding mask, the system will replace first section of the mask by the name you specify.
if system is unable to find a key, it will automatically retain the name of the standard project, if wbs with same name exists, you have to use replace function... this is similar to "find and replace" function common in office applications wherein you set the key and system will replace all elements that match..

Standard WBS Elements v Operative WBS elements as templates

Hi
I am considering the use of Standard WBS elements however one of the limitations that I have identified is that it is not possible to enter the any default settlement parameters into the WBS elements.
As our Work Breakdown structures are a combination of both operative as well as capital WBS elements (for accounting purposes) it is not possible to enter the default Settlement Profile in the project profile. ie: Mulitple settlement profiles are used across the WBS elements for a single project profile, depending on the required accounting treatment.
Ensuring that users enter the correct settlement paramters for each WBS element cannot be gaurenteed and it does not appear possible to use sustitutions to populate these parameters. Month end settlement is often problematic and the correct accounting treatment is essential so I am looking for alternatives.
One alternative that comes to mind is to set aside a range of operative WBS elements for use as templates. This would then ensure that all required fields in the operative structures are pre - populated including the settlement parameters.
Has anyone used operative structures in this way and if so are there any potential issues?

Thanks for your ongoing input. I am still not sure my original message was clear.
The key point is that I am talking about using a range of operative structures as templates. "lets just say the first 200 operative structures will be designated as templates." These operative structures to be used as templates, contain different settlement parameters for each WBS element.
In your first post you mentioned.

and in your second post.

This is not the case, you actually do not need to maintain these settlement parameters manually when you copy an operative structure. (used as a template) This is exactly why I am considering using operative structures and NOT standard structures as templates. I agree, when using standard structures no settlement paramaters are inherited.
As I mentioned in my first post the Project Profile will not contain a settlement profile. Hence when the operative structure with pre populated settlement parameters is used as a "template" and copied to create a new operative structure all settlement parameters are copied / inherited to the new operative structure. This is the result based on my prototype. Try this, copy an operative structure that has pre populated settlement parameters and you will see that all these settlement parameters are copied.....at least in my system that is the way it works.
I hope this helps clear up any misunderstanding.

Is there any way or standard report to check standard WBS (cj93) link to standard network/activity (CN03).
Normally we create project by using template existing, we would like to check the structure. Is there any way to check the standard template for it ( WBS template link to network/activity template).

Please try this:
1. Tcode : CN41
2. Change database profile: In that in the origin check mark the Standard structure. Continue..
3. At the bottom of the selection screen check mark the standard structures.
4. In the selction area for the Project hit F4 and select the project based on the standard WBS Element.
5. Exceute the report.

G/L is not automatically assigned to material component

Hi All,
We use transaction CJ20N in creating a meterial component, non stock item category(N), G/L is not automatically populated. Could you please tell me how does the system in SAP automatically assign G/L account in the material component. I have checked the valuation class for the material group and a G/L is assigned there but it is not assigning in the material component.

yes i have checked the network profile and the g/l account is mandatory, therefore prompting the system for the g/l account to be assigned first
also, the g/l account is assigned to the valuation class

You need to 'reverse engineer' them :
You need to convert the VOB files in the TS-Folder of the DVD back to DV which iMovie is designed to handle. For that you need mpegStreamclip:

Material component

HI All,
I selected a material component with item category "L" and procurement type "Third party requisition for WBS element" and then created PR from project builder. then created a PO and rreceived the material into stock.
now i can see the material in stock with the corresponding WBS Element.
when i tried to create a delivery through CNS0 then the material (line item) in the delivery becpomes not relavent for GI and could not issue out the material to customer. I checked the delivery and found that the movementnt type 281 was not copied into the delivery, so i could not issue the material.
my question here is, whether the combination item cat "L" and procurement type "Third party requisition for WBS element" is correct?..if not then in CJ20N system should not have allowed me to select this combination.
i assume the "N" with "Third party requisition for Network" is correct. But i would like to know reason for my earlier issue.
is there any solution for this? please help.

Do you get unrestricted project stock in MMBE once you make GR?
In CNS0 you make a delivery from project for goods to the customer and unrestricted project stock is mandatory.
For this you need to create reservations in the project for the materials which you want to deliver.
I'd suggest to try for item category L and "PR+Reservation" scenario.

Go to the network header select Control tab , In selection tab Costing put following parameters,
Costing sheet PP-PC1,Costing varian plan PS02 costing variant act. PS03,Plan cost calc 2.determine plan cost.
save the project and reopen and check for planned cost.System will get material cost from material master.

HI Joydeep,
This is not possible in PS via CJ20N transaction to create material PR without activities. This is standard SAP restriction, i guess this cannot be changed.
You can use ME51N by account assigning to Project / WBS element, then system will allow you to create.
This is kind of two different functionalities we have to create PR for WBS element / Project / Network.

GI Actual Cost-Material Component

Hello Experts,
I have maintained movement type 101 for GR, 281 for GI for valuated project stock and Item Category L for creating material component. Actually, my report reflects the planned figures on WBS, then breaks on activity then reflects further breakdown at the material breakdown level under the activity.
When comes to actual cost i.e. first GR the value goes on WBS, which is correct. However, when I do GI it goes on the activity and my material actual cost breakdown figures don’t appear, neither does the commitment column. They remain zero instead and the Actuals GI figure reflects on activity.
Can you please tell me where am i doing anything wrong.?

Hi,
Just check your procurement parameters.
If the parameters are set to reserve/ purchase the material for a network and not WBS then it will always look for the network number as the controlling object. From there only you handle your stock, Good Receipts, Good Issues and its valuation means how it is valuated.
Eg:-
If you have set up your project by contradicting that the project definition has group requirements for a project and then you don’t have Q on your special stock indicator on the procurement page, then you will have your costs going in different directions.

Unable to open a standard WAD template (Tech.Content)

We are working with the standard web templates for technical content (Eg: Runtimes of BI Applications :: 0TPLI_0TCT_MC01_Q0111 ).W ehave installed the templates ,all the flows,process chains.We have installed them in 3.X version and i am assigned to role SAP_BW_BI_ADMINSTRATOR.
But when i try to open the templates in 3.x WAD I am getting the error "you have no authorization to change the template.Do you want to create a copy? --> If i say yes it is running some HTML code in the scrren with a VALIDATE option in the bottom right.If i click on that i am getting the following error
"the selected template contains HTML fragments ,non supported items or is not designed to be edited with wad use the functions 'upload to server' or "download to server ' and edit the web template in an externalHTML editor.
Can you suggest what we are missing or how to fix this issue?

What you can do is :
1. Make these templates changeable - in the transport connection under RSA1 - select Object Changeability and then under TMPL right click and set to Everything changeable.
If this is your development system which is open - you need not do this....
2. You can also view the templates ( HTML version ) using program RS_TEMPLATE_MAINTAIN
Going by your error - looks like some Authorization objects are missing for you to be able to edit the templates - since these are SAP Defined - I would recommend not editing them and instead - going through the HTML using the program mentioned above and if you need a copy of the same - then copy the HTML and put it into a new template under the HTML View.

Material Component to Network - BAPI_NETWORK_COMP_ADD

has anyone come across this SAP problem?
I use BAPI_NETWORK_COMP_ADD to add a material to a Network.
It adds fine, and shows up in CJ20N.
However, if you go to the Plan/Actual Cost (CN41), there is no cost associated.
Okay. I used BAPI_NETWORK_COMP_CHANGE and it finally added the Cost to the Material Component.
HOWEVER, it doesn't have the Cost on Network/WBS element level.
Therefore, the plan/actual Cost for Project Definition is wrong.
Can anyone help?
If you add a material component manually in CJ20N and then change quantity, it works fine.
The thing is, CJ20N uses so many memory objects, it's hard to copy what it does.

go to CJ20N and check the network control parameter, where the cost calculation parametrs are maintained.
1- cost to be calculated
2- cost to be calculated aftr release
3-donn plan cost
select the correct one
again check the costing variant and check the material valuation
