Edit Naming Bug

Just tried to edit a file name after editing in PS.
God it's painful to do, even after you work out how on earth to do something that is normally so trivially easy.
LR imports and displays a file called say
"2007-03-15 Betty 004 Provia+Lomo-ed.psd"
no problem, yet when I try to edit it to read
"2007-03-15 Betty 004 Provia + Lomo-ed.psd",
LR changes it to
"2007-03-15 Betty 004 Provia @ Lomo-ed a [email protected]",
Edit name again and I get
"2007-03-15 Betty 004 Provia @ Lomo-ed a bit@[email protected]"
where the @ symbol is actually a crossed out box in LR. ??????!!!!
Now after a bit of playing around, I discover that if you edit an name, LR adds extention automatically, even if it's aready there. Duh! So, if you edit a filename to correct a typo you also have to remember to delete the extension as LR adds it automatically. Not only that, undo doesn't correct the extention bug even though it corrects the name edit.
I assume it was thought by the designers, if you are going to edit a name, you replace all the name and do not have to worry about the extention. Obviously, nobody ever changed their mind or spotted a typo when designing this feature. Bridge allows single file reanming/editing simply and elegently. LR + Bridge are made by the same company aren't they?
Yet again LR takes a normally very simple thing, overcomplicates and breaks it and not only that, does it differently from other Adobe apps which weren't broken.
Plus - why can't I have a '+' sign in my file names or a ',' for that matter, they've worked until now with no problems. Are vowels going to be forbidden next?

Thanks for your reply Justin. I know how to name "audio objects" I've done it many times... but now with this new feature, where logic does it automatically, it does not seem to work properly. When I type in the name I want to be displayed, it does not change in the arrange window, as it used to, and should still. Anyway thx for your response.

  • 5.4 Adjustment brus bug + File export naming bug

There appear to be two bugs in 5.4
    1. I just finished editing an intense adjustment brush edit. I went to tweek it when I opened the brush there are no pins to activate even though the edits are there.
    2. Export file naming not working correctly. I always use export "Title plus file number" or "Custom name - original file number" Neither of these exports include the file number.
    3. Did 5.4 change somthing in the configuration settings. If not, is there a way to restore 5.3 until these bugs are fixed.
    Jim

Regarding item 1, the pins can be visible or not visible or conditionally visible.  The option to do this is at the lower left of the tool-options bar available when you press the T key to toggle it on and off.  If you feel your pin-visibility options are set properly, please show a print-screen with the pins not there and the pin-visibility options set to Always.
Not sure about item 2 as I don’t use it.

  • Editable JCombobox - bug in 10.1.3

Hi I have a JComboBox bound to a ADF view object
    JComboBox cbo = new JComboBox();
    cbo.setEditable(true);
    cbo.setModel((ComboBoxModel)panelBinding.bindUIControl("PortfolioView1", cbo));
When I type in additional data in the combobox (its editable) and hit a "Search" button I was expected to get the newly entered value in the
    cbo.getSelectedItem() method
This does not work though - I get the PortefolieViewRow object instead. When I instead use
    ((JUMultiAttrListEditor)cbo.getEditor()).getItem())
    I get null.
Creating a non ADF bound combobox work fine - the getSelectedItem() return either my selection or the newly typed in value
It clearly a bug - but is anyone aware of a workaround?
    :-) johnny

    Hi Frank
I'm using editable comboboxes to lookup values based on a VO list. I'm aware that the entered values are not inserted in the list - this is expected.
So I create a VO, drag it as a combobox to a Swing panel. The combobox is made editable so that I can type in info in the combobox.
I then have a JButton that, when pressed get the value of the combobox and performs a search in the database. I use the combobox.getSelectedItem() method to get its value - this step does not work though.
The values in the combobox is either a value the user has written (because the field is editable) or a value from the VO.
The Combobox is not directly bound the the search button only as a lookup facility so that the user either can type in some text or select it from a list
    hope this clarified my context

  • Saving an edited photo - bug?

Ive created an album, copied in some photos from photostream and now I'm editing them. Some of the photos allow me to just save over the current photo whereas other photos require me to save as a new photo in my camera roll... Is this a bug? I cannot seem to find a rule as to what works.

Yes, the photo does display when I double click the hour glass.  I can delete that hour glass (the edited version) but the initial photo also displays an hour glass.  Double clicking on that also displays the actual photo.
I hope there’s a fix for my problem.  Thanks.

  • Edit Group Bugs

When editing (eg.) multitracked drums on one group and multiple tracks (in this case midi regions for triggering gates) on another group I find that if I do a quick swipe of regions from both groups only one group will fully select - the other (actually the lower numbered group) won't completely select. Kinda defeats the purpose I reckon - cos I have to swipe all the regions. I've found it works properly until heaps of editing has been done then starts doing this. Another problem is that when selecting a region from a grouped bunch of regions, if they're slightly overlapping other regions in the same group, they will be selected also. Correct me if I'm missing something but this must be a bug... being that I have to turn the groups off and de-select the overlapped regions.
    Anybody else come across this??

I workaround this situation by adding the server name under Server Admin -> Mail -> Settings -> Advanced -> Hosting -> Local Host Aliases. This then treats [email protected] as [email protected]
If you are using these groups with virtual hosting, it's a bit more complex.

  • I have an iPhoto event on my computer that I have photo-edited, named, key-worded, and place and dated. How to I transfer that event to another computer in a way that includes ALL the information?

I have iPhoto '09, version 8.1.2. I have an event in the Library whose photos have all been edited, faces named, keywords added, and place and dated. How do I transfer the event intact (with ALL the editing, names, dates, places, etc) to another computer? Exporting does not include all the information (no dates or face names), nor does burning a DVD (it shows the location pinned on the map, but doesn't write out the name of the place).

    File -> Export:
    Kind: Jpeg
    Check the boxes at Include...
This will get everything you mention except the Faces data. There is no way to share that on any system.
Note that this information including the dates is written to the IPTC and Exif metadata. So you'll need an app that understands these things as the Finder doesn't - a Photo app for insstance.
There are two kinds of metadata involved when you consider  jpeg or other image file.
One is the file data. This is what the Finder shows. This tells you nothing about the contents of the file, just the File itself.
The problem with File metadata is that it can easily change as the file is moved from place to place or exported, e-mailed, uploaded etc.
Photographs have also got both Exif and IPTC metadata. The date and time that your camera snapped the Photograph is recorded in the Exif metadata. Regardless if what the file date says, this is the actual time recorded by the camera.
Photo applications like iPhoto, Aperture, Lightroom, Picasa, Photoshop etc get their date and time from the Exif metadata.
When you export from iPhoto to the Finder new file is created containing your Photo (and its Exif). The File date is - quite accurately - reported as the date of Export. However, the Photo Date doesn't change.
The problem is that the Finder doesn't work with Exif.
So, your photo has the correct date, and so does the file, but they are different things. To sort on the Photo date you'll need to use a photo app.

  • Quoted replies: editing/display BUG and workarounds?

I'm frequently responding inline to quoted text emails.
Mail.app has the annoying behavior of losing my cursor, or inserting characters where my carat isn't located (especially on when editing multi-paragraph quoted text). And, sometimes there are display/draw bugs as well, where there are lines displayed on-screen that cannot be edited out.
In short, it's a real pain.
So: are there ways to convince Mail.app to be "dumber" about quoting? Say, to just use ">" straight text quoting like the rest of the world? If not, here's a feature request for the development team: fix the quoting issues, and show ">" indents, especially when I'm in "Plain Text" mode.
    Cheers!
    PowerBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

I am having similar problem. I was importing from a video camera and checking the event library constantly to see that everything looked good - thumbnails, audio etc . Got to end of tape before iMovie crashed. When I opened it back up, clips in Event library are greyed out, but can mouse over and see them. Audio is completely gone though. Now half the time I click on an event with this problem, iMovie crashes, so I have deleted the greyed out events since it appears they cause instability. Oddly, the only clip to survive several crashes was the last one I captured - a very short one (1:35). Is there a size limit on events? I can't get past the capture process to even attempt editing and creating projects.
I have only recently started using iMovie. I am on a PowerMac G5 with 180GB available, so do not think space a problem. Using Leopard, iLife '08...have switched back and forth between Quicktime versions (suggested on other thread) but did not make a difference for me.

  • Copy/Paste/Edit menu bug. Anybody else seen this?

I have a project with an imported stereo wav file on track one. It is about 8 minutes long, 44.1k. I am trying to copy small regions of this track and then paste those into track two and make these little pieces real audio clips. (Thanks again to Bee Jay and Jim Frazier for the help with that!) In this example I use the Marquee tool to highlight a 2 measure section of track one and from the Edit menu I select COPY. Then I select track two and move the playhead to the location I want to paste the copied clip.
Now, when I click on the Edit menu to select PASTE the drop-down menu is gone! However, to restore it I found a way. Minimize Logic, then maximize it again and the Edit drop-down menu has returned ! Very strange.
This has got to be a bug although not too serious. But it is very annoying having to minimize/maximize Logic just to get the drop-down menu back especially since I am using this copy/paste function a LOT. So it makes it very time consuming to have to do this. And it happens every time for me.
I sent this in to the feedback of Logic but wondered if anyone else has seen this?
    Thanks,
    Greg

Yes - I had this today for the first time in fact!
The Edit menu title was still in the bar, by when you clicked on it, the edit menu was completely gone and didn't drop down (the rest of the menus were fine). A weird one. I found it amusing for a couple of minutes until I got it back again (I've no idea how I did it) and it hasn't happened since.
Another one for the buglet files, methinks...

  • Strange behaviour editing region - bug?

    Hi
I've been trying to edit a SQL region on a page and was constantly getting inexplicable syntax errors when trying to save my changes.
I had been copying and pasting bits of code into the region.
Eventually I looked at the end of the region code and found that lines or parts of lines had mysteriously 'disappeared' from the bottom of the sql and this was causing the syntax error!
    For example the line
    AND t4.CD_CLAIM_NO=:P40_REQUEST_NO
    had changed to
    AND t4.CD_CLAIM_NO=:P40_REQUEST_
even though I had been nowhere near this part of the SQL!
Is this a bug in HTML DB? I am using version 3.0.1.00.07
    Thanks
    Simon

    Hello Simon,
How big is your code? Maybe you're hitting a limit there?
If I remember correctly some of these limitations got fixed in later versions of APEX.

  • More than 1000 photos - iPhone naming bug???

I have more than 1000 pictures on my iPhone. When I tried to import them onto my Mac using iPhoto I realised that for some reason iPhone names the pictures incorrectly.
Instead of going from 0999 to 1000 Phone goes from 0999 back to 0000. It appends the file name with "_2".
    Is this a bug?
I keep all my iPhone pictures organised in a separate folder rather than use iPhoto.
This means that I have to rename all the new photos above 0999. Very annoying.

It doesn't make sense to provide 4 digits and then jump back to zero after using up three of them.
I don't see the problem in keeping 1000+ photos on the iPhone - however, I do back them up very regularly.

  • Export file naming bug

If the version name of an image is empty and you export that image and select Name Format as 'current version name', Aperture will do the export and the resultant file created has only the filetype extension as is name. The finder under normal conditions will not show the file because it appears as a hidden file.

  • 3.1EA2 index edit display bug

When editing a table by right-clicking on the table in the Connections window [table->Edit->Indexes], indexes that end in -UK or -FK (because they support unique-key or foreign-key constraints) do not appear in the list of editable indexes. The indexes exist, and are visible in the Connections window (under Indexes) or when Opening the table, but not in the list of editable indexes within the Edit Table popup window.

Thank you for your quick and detailed response.
My experience differs from what you predict. See the DDL below. I created a couple of test tables, created primary keys on both, created a foreign-key constraint from one to the other, and an index of the same name to support that foreign-key. In SQL Developer, the index does not show up in the 'Edit' index pane, but does show up in the list of indexes when I 'Open' the table.

  • Lookout 6.1 Edit Mode Bug

I don't remember seeing this in older versions of Lookout, but in 6.1:
Edit mode allows you to open a second session of object editing.  It used to be you had to close an open object edit (connections, data member configuration, etc) before opening another.
Well in 6.1, it will let you open a second one....and Lookout will always crash after you close them and save the process (sometimes it will crash before you try to save).

  • CS4 Bin Naming Bug

When creating a new bin you cannot see what you are typing until you hit enter. Strange...

You have to initiate the rename process to be able to see what you're typing. I'm amazed that you even get to rename the clip when you press enter. In other words, creating the bin does not leave the bin name in "edit mode", you have to
    put it in edit mode.
