Edit not saved in Acrobat 9

I am using acrobat 9 at work. we are scanning jobs which have color and B&W originals when I edit an image (page) in PS the color ones after saving change to the edited version but when I edit the B&W pages they change in PS buit when you hit save they revert with no edits?
The scans are from a Xerox scanner and the ones I can edit image are 8 bit RGB color, the B&W ones are Bitmap. I convert them to 8 bit grayscale and that is where I edit them and they change until saved, then snap back to the original image?  I have even converted them to 8 bit RGB color and the same thing occurs.
We are in a production shop scanning archival documents and i really need a solution to this...
Thanks
Rob

Make the file again, save it again. Never rely on the PDF, it's no more useful for editing than a printout, especially if you don't have hundreds of dollars to throw at the problem.

  • Audio track edits not saved

I am using Captivate 4. I have a group of files where any edits I make to the audio track are not saved. The audio plays back fine in the audio editor. It just will not save the changes I make to the audio track (cut segments, add silent segments, etc.) I make a change, click OK in the audio editor, close the editor. When I reopen the editor the changes are not saved. I tried uninstalling and reintalling Captivate. I tried saving the file under a different name. Any ideas why this might be happening and if there is any workaround? thanks.

    Hi there
You should ensure that Captivate has been updated to the most recent release. The developers released an update after the initial release. Additionally, you may need to follow what is outlined in this blog post. I had to do that on my PC.

  • Can I recover raw edits not saved as a catalog?

I have raw files that have been imported and edited, but not saved as a catalog/collection. LR crashed & I had to un/reinstall LR (4.4). Can I recover those changes and reapply them to the raw files? If so, how?
    Thanks

I've had LR for about 6 months or so and have done the backup every week. Hopefully, I can revert back.
For the most part, I import, develop, then export jpg versions. I dont usually make a "collection" mainly because I haven't taken the time to learn the ins & outs of LR file management (yes, regretting that now).
I don't think that the catalog was damaged. I do remember changing the location. I guess I just need to know if I need to do anything specific to load them
    Thanks for the response!

  • QuickTime Pro 7.1 sound edits not saving

In QuickTime Pro 7.1 when I adjust the volume level in the movie Properties dialog, then save the file, the edits are not saved with the file when I reopen it and play it. The volume level reverts back to the way it was before.
Is there something I am doing wrong?
    TIA

If you're the adventurous type and the missing functionality of QT 7 is a real burden then you can do the following:
    1. download QT 6.5.1 from here:
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/quicktime651.html
    do NOT install it.
    2. download Pacifist here:
    http://www.charlessoft.com/
Use Pacifist to open the "QuickTime651.pkg"
(What we do next is extract only the QuickTime 6.5.1 Player from the package.)
From the "Application" folder in the open Pacifist window, choose "QuickTime Player.app"
In the Pacifist icon menu choose "Extract To..." and choose your Desktop.
    * Important: Rename the "QuickTime Player" on your Desktop to "QuickTime Player 6.5.1"
Put it into your Applications folder and use as you have in the past.
Any changes you make to the video or sound can now be saved as before if you use this player to open your movies.
The QuickTime 7 player will still function as it did before.

  • Lightroom edits not saving!

Ahhhh please help! I use Lightroom 4 and when I went in to look at some images I had recently edited, (all my images are large jpegs, and I "add" my photos to LR) they all started to change to some weird high contrast edit right before my eyes, one by one without me touching or changing anything. They also had a little exclamation point on them. When I clicked on the exclamation it says "the metadata was changed by Lightroom and another application" and I could "import settings from the disk or overwrite the disk settings." When I clicked import settings it reverted back to my original edit. But this didn't last.. after a few minutes they kept changing back to this other random edit. I read online that I should save the metadata so it can't be changed, so I highlighted every image I have in Lightroom and saved the metadata. (this took about an hour for Lightroom to do) But now when I go back into Lightroom to look at my photos they do something different.. now they start to revert back to the original UNEDITED files all my themselves, one by one! Thankfully I have already exported all the edited photos into folders so I have them. But what do I do!? If I ever want to go back to an edited photo and export it at a different size or retouch it or something, none of the edits are saved, I have to start from scratch! I'm a wedding photographer and I'm scared to load more images and work on them just for LR to change them back. Does anyone know why this is happening or what I can do? I want my edited photos back!
    Thank you!

    DanielleKirk wrote:
Hmm, no I don't believe that is what's happening. I exported all my photos fine. It was when I went back into LR after the export that they started reverting back to the unedited version. I wasnt even doing any action or editing at the time, just opened up LR and they all started changing. I have no idea why this all of a sudden happened. I have been using LR for 2 years and didn't do anything differently. So strange!
You haven't specifically addressed the main point of my guess, that when you did the export, you instructed Lightroom to overwrite the original photo. This could possibly explain your statement that "they all started to change to some weird high contrast edit right before my eyes, one by one without me touching or changing anything." Sometimes these export settings get changed accidentally, could you check to see if that has happened?
Other than that, I don't really have another guess as to what might be happening.

  • New view of rotated page not saving in Acrobat X...

When I open a PDF file in Acrobat X often the page(s) need to be rotated. This is easy enough to do and easy enough to save the document. The bug is that the saved document doesn't remember the rotated view. This worked in previous versions of Acrobat why is it not working in version 10??

I discovered that there is a difference between page view rotation and page rotation. If I actually rotate the page then this problem goes away and I can save the file with it's new orientation in tact.

  • External Editing Not Saving in iPhoto

I set my external editor to Photoshop Elements 9.  I right click on my thumbnail and select "external editor" which creates a duplicate of the thumbnail and opens PE9 with the picture where I can perform the edit.  After I edit I have tried a straight "save" and a "save to iPhoto library" but when I return to iPhoto 11 none of the edits I did in PE9 appear.  I have no idea what I am doing wrong.  I understand I can edit in the external editor and it is supposed to show up with the edits in iPhoto 11. Furthermore, I have not idea where the edits I performed and saved in PE9 went to and how I can get them back.

This might be of some help:
Using Photoshop CS3 or Photoshop Elements 9 as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's Advanced Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop.  When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window
that indicates that  PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file.  You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements 9 the Saving File preferences should be configured as shown:
s  I also suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.  In PSE’s General preference pane set the Color Picker to Apple as shown:
NOTE: If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS/PSE without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in iPhoto".  That will let you either edit in iPhoto using the Edit button or Control-clicking on the thumbnail and selecting "Edit in iPhoto" or in PS/PSE by Control-clicking on the thumbnail and selecting "Edit in External Editor" in the Contextual menu.
This way you get the best of both worlds.

  • IPhoto Edits Not Saved

I am using iPhoto 7.1.1 with OS 10.5.1
I scanned some old photographs (they are in jpeg) and have been editing them using iPhoto. When I crop and straighten the scans, those changes are saved and are seen in the thumbnails.
When I make changes in the contrast, sharpness, etc using the adjust button, the changes appear on the image but are never transferred to the thumbnails.
After I leave the editing mode the changes I made to the image are no longer there. When I open up the editing tools and click the adjust button then, the changes I made are there.
I have tried exporting the image to see if the edited image would be transfered and it was the unedited image. I have also tried to drag the picture and same result (non-edited picture)
After seeing others posts on this, there appears to be a bug in the software.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Rebuild the library as follows: launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select the first three options. See if this will help.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Photoshop edits not saved in iPhoto

I've set up Photoshop CS4 as my external editor in iPhoto, and this has been working well for quite a while. I usually edit in Photoshop and save over the original (both jpeg files) in iPhoto. However, today I noticed that my edited work was not showing up in the gallery view (i.e. even after saving over, the original version of the photo was shown in my gallery). On close-up I can view the edited photo, but once I edit another photo the previous photo I edited reverts to its original form. I've tried repairing the library and permissions by pressing option + command on startup, but the problem still remains. None of my edited work is saved once I close and reopen iPhoto. Please help! :-(

You are saving as a jpg (if the original file is a jpg), right? Check this workflow and see if you're doing anything significantly different than what's described.  Screenshots are from Photoshop CS3 but should be similar to later versions.
Using Photoshop or Photoshop Elements as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop or Photoshop Elememts as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop.  When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.

This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
With Photoshop Elements  the Saving File preferences should be configured as shown:
I also suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.  In PSE’s General preference pane set the Color Picker to Apple as shown:
    Screenshots are from PSE 10
Note 1:  to switch between iPhoto and PS or PSE as the editor of choice Control (right)-click on the thumbnail and select either Edit in iPhoto or Edit in External Editor from the contextual menu. If you use iPhoto to edit more than PSE re-select iPhoto in the iPhoto General preference pane. Then iPhoto will be the default editor and you can use the contextual menu to select PSE for your editor when desired.
Note 2:  editing a RAW file with either PSE or PS creates a new file which must be saved outside of iPhoto, i.e. the Desktop, and imported as a new photo into the iPhoto Library.

  • Flattened and Cloned, Edits Not Saved

I flattened an image and made a duplicate layer to clone on, which I was able to do. Though after flattening are layers really possible? Then I did some more cloning without making  a duplicate layer. When I saved the image-- I also get the Replace option becase I'm updating old edits--the old image is saved and not to one with my new edits. I did notice when working on the image there ws aother image layer peeking out from under it. Is it possible for me to save my latest image with its clones or do I have to start over?

It sounds to me that you are saving a lot of picture files which are really work-in-progress. Why save all these and fill up your drive with suboptimal pictures?
If you save the file in the native format, you can preserve the layer structure, reopen subsequently for additional edits.

  • Editing Virtual Copies -- edits not saved to sidecar?

Even though LR is a metadata editor that does not change the original photos, I still like to create a virtual copy when I edit photos -- I edit the copy and then stack this with the original. This allows me to easily change the library to show me the original version, the edited version, or both next to each other. I noticed, however, that there is no "Save Metadata to file" option when I have the copy highlighted. Does this mean that the ONLY copy of the edited version of this file is in my library, and that all my edits are ONLY saved in the library file and not in the sidecar? I thought that the sidecar would include the virtual copy edits, but this is apparently not the case.
If so, should I be doing this the other way around -- i.e. leaving the virtual copy alone, and making edits to the "original"?
Also, is there a better way to go about this process? Again, I understand that this is a metadata editor that save edits as metadata, but there still seem to be some advantages to editing a second copy of a photo instead of always making edits to the "original."
Thanks for any feedback on this,
    Larry

    >What side car should be used? You know, you can delete the master and still have the VC, which is tied to the original. If you do that, should LR delete the old side car and then create a new one? Should it create a separate side car for each VC? That would mean multiple side car files point to a single original file. I'm not sure any of that is allowed in the current xmp spec.
I'm not clear what the conflict would be. Couldn't the sidecar file be made to reference different "versions" of the same file? It would be a matter of having the sidecar file split up into multiple "sections," one being the "master," and a new, separate section being made for each virtual copy.
If you deleted the original, it would move simply remove the "master" section of the sidecar to reflect the fact that the master was no longer present, but the sections for any remaining VC files would remain.
I realize that it would take some coding, but in the scheme of things, it doesn't seem like all "that" complex of an issue.
Anyway -- those are just some thoughts on this. The bottom line is that the current paradigm seems unnecessarily limited to me.
    Thanks for the discussion here,
    Larry

  • Why are my "info" edits not saving on purchased songs?

when I edit the song info on "purchased" songs on the iTunes on my new iMac the info reverts back to original after I shut the mac down. I never had this issue in 10 years of iTunes experience on my old pc. It only happens with iTunes purchased songs...when I upload a cd, it stays how I list it.

    Welcome to the forum.
I did not see any reference to Save, Save_As, or Save_As_a_Copy. Did you use one of those?

  • Photoshop CS6 edits not saving

So for the past week or so, everytime I try to save as any image in photoshop it will not save any edits I make.
I will save anything I do in RAW, but once i open the image in photoshop and run any actions they wont save. I have tried running one action at a time, I have tried save the RAW file as a JPG and then going back and running actions over it, but nothing is working! It doesn't do it every single time though, thats whats confusing, I have not changed anything but it randomly wont save them.
If anyone can help me I could really appreciate it
    Thanks!

    Download and install WinDirStat
    https://windirstat.info/
And look for big chunks of drive space than might be retrievable.  I don't know how this works with XP, but with Windows 7 you can win back tons by
    Disabling Hyphenate
moving Downloads, My documents, Desktop, Outlook cache, Bridge cache, iTunes library and other stuff to other drives.
Basically, use WinDirStat to track down the space, and Google the solution.  I reinstalled my OS and apps a few weeks ago using a pair of 265Gb SSDs in a raid0, which doubled my OS drive space, and I have been too lazy to sort it out since.  So this is how WinDirStat mapped my C: drive.  I click on that big blue area, and it tells me it is the Windows Page File, so I have to leave it alone, but you'll find a ton of stuff you can move.
But while this will give you more room, I now strongly suspect that both your operating system, and the mechanical integrity of your C: drive, are in very poor shape.  The good news is that you are going to absolutely love the new computer you are going to have to buy, and everything is going to run so much better.

  • Profile edits not saving?

So I went to the website and edited my name and clicked save, and went back to the app and none of it was saved. So I went back and edited it again, saved it, signed in and out on both the app and website and it didn't save again.... How do I keep the changes? I hit save, but it doesn't actually want to do just that.

I am also having this issue.  I have a new number that I would rather have come up on caller ID than my cell phone but I can't get it to save anything on the profile.. it shows congratulations 100% message but when I go back to profile it's only at 35% complete and can't get above that.
