Edit page in web page composer

Hi all!
In Web Page Composer, I can create a new web page. However, I can't edit this page. It's a role problem.
Somebody know what the role I need in order to edit page, and where the administrator can attribute this role?
Thank you for your help!
Best regards
Ludovic

Hi Ludovic,
The SAP delivered role for WPC is: wpc_editor_role.
You might also want to check that you have minimally 'Read/Write' permissions for the KM folder in which you are creating the web page.
Hope this helps.
Best Regards,
Joseph

  • Add Portal iView to Web Page in Web Page Composer

    I would like to add a Portal iView to a web page using Web Page Composer.  What are the steps to be able to do this?
    We are using NetWeaver 2004s with SP16.
    Thank you for your assistance.

    Hi Le,
    I configured a Global Entry Point.  These are the steps:
    1.  Choose System Administration ® System Configuration ® Knowledge Management ® Content Management ® User Interface ® (Show Advanced Options) ® Mapping ® Component
    2.  Edit the wpcDragExplorerEntryPoints configuration object.
    In the Parameters field, you can enter the following properties:
    Property:  displaymode
    Description:  Specify select
    Property:  maxproviderprio
    Description:  Enter a value for the highest priority number that standard entry points can have and still be displayed in the Web content browser The priority of standard entry points is between 3 and 80. For a list of standard entry points and their priorities, see the configuration at Content Management ® Repository Managers ® Entry Point Providers ® Entry Point Provider.
    Property:  entriesperrow
    Description:  Number of entry points displayed in each row (default: 5)
    Property:  entrypointsprefix
    Description:  Prefix of the entry point repository.  If you specify a value for this parameter, standard KM entry points are also displayed in the Web content browser.  Default: /entrypoints
    Property:  sharedcontent
    Description:  Semicolon-separated list of paths to be displayed as global entry points for shared content
    Example of a complete specification in the Parameter field:
    displaymode=select,maxproviderprio=30,entriesperrow=5,sharedcontent=/wpccontent/Cross-Site Content;/documents/MyFolder

    You could have changed the zoom settings somehow. Try going to the View menu, down to Zoom and select ''Reset''.

  • Firefox v. 30 won't save a page as "Web page, complete" -- NEVER

    I tried to save a page as "Web page, complete" in v. 30. It used to work in v. 29. Now it never saves the original. It used to say in the Downloads list, when I did save a file, that it failed. I learned to ignore that, because the first time I would save a file, as "web page, complete," it did get listed in Windows explorer and I could open it up in Firefox and see it, looking close to the same way I saw it originally (some words are on a new line, and images are smaller).
    It is most critical when I want to save a list of the journal articles I download, along with images of the check off boxes having a check mark. In v. 29, they were there. If I saved the saved page again, after checking off more boxes, it wouldn't save it but it wouldn't tell me so, either. I would have to always keep an eye on the directory listing in Windows Explorer. I learned to just save it again, and it would be saved. However, now in v. 30 it NEVER saves the main htm page of this ORIGINAL web page when I save it with the option "web page, complete," but it does save the "_files" folder for ancillary images. I now have to save the original web page as file type: "files, all," putting in the .htm as file extension. I then open it up in firefox, and none of the boxes are checked as they were in the original. So I have to recheck all the boxes again and then save it as "web page, complete". This time, the "web page, complete" works, but clearly not on the original web page. The resulting file looks like the page that got saved with the "files,all" option I saved before, but now the boxes I checked off are still checked off. I get the web page back, but not looking much like it was originally, and only after a great deal of work.
    I am using Firefox 30 on XP

    I appreciate your thought on this problem. Yes, all journal database searches use the same algorithm but there is something in common to all which is not present in many other kinds of web pages, e.g. PubMed abstracts or pages with just an abstract, or blog posts or news stories -- the boxes to check off (e.g. to list all abstracts and citations for the ones you choose) and the listings of links to abstracts, pdfs, supplements, etc. posted with each article description (see searches by Oxford University Press http://rspb.royalsocietypublishing.org/search and by Sage http://online.sagepub.com/search ). The links and empty check boxes get printed on the "save page" result, but any check boxes you checked off lose the check after saving the page as a "Web page, complete."
    That was not the case in v. 29. In most of the past Firefox versions, the resulting page saved does not look like the original one, because of the realignment of text and links. However, now, the functionality of those saved pages is seriously compromise. Worse, there are no images. I could tolerate what v. 29 did, but not what 30 is doing.
    I just found out that although the downloads tool window list of titles that appears after you tried to save a page always lists the attempt as having "Failed", you can succeed in completing some files when you click on its name in the list. Usually, as I said in the past, you just try again and it saved in version pre-28 (I think). But as I mentioned before you can't trust what the downloads tool tells you. In the past it actually finally, after another attempt, saved the page despite telling you it failed in that window. I click on the "failed" download now and it does download, but is missing any of the list of articles found on the original web page, so certainly, the result is not what you were aiming for with the "Save", "Web page, complete" choice. The main point here is that there are no check boxes, empty or filled at all in an attempt to use "Web page, complete" option in the "Save" choice for any journal database search. I can only conclude that "Web page, complete" doesn't work for journal article searches.
    The main reason for keeping a web page functionality in a "save web page" option is to be able to work on it offline. I can copy the information about specific articles I downloaded to enter into my own Reference Manager program, along with the relevant links. I can carry this web page with me to a university where I can download the article without having to run a search all over again, with the strong possibility that it won't give me all the same results as I just got at home, losing some articles I really wanted to get. Saving a web page tells me what I was interested in to begin with, which gets lost if the boxes I checked off are not in what I can save.

  • Editing in a non editable region in web page

    After tiding up my site, (removing spaces etc in files names)
    my links on the nav page did not work to the next page.
    They are in a locked template area so i opened the template
    up and changed them, but they do not update the pages based on the
    template ? Will it because I changed my web page names (took out
    the spaces)
    How do i get them to update, either by putting the new file
    names in the template or unlocking the locked template area and
    manually putting in the new link names to the other pages ?

    Please go to SITES | Manage Sites..., select the site name,
    and click on
    Edit. Click on the Advanced tab at the top. Tell me the
    following -
    Under LOCAL INFO
    The contents of "Local root folder:"
    It appears that your site is improperly defined. Your links
    look like
    this -
    <a href="../webpages/index.htm"
    and I'm betting that "webpages" is the name of the root
    folder of the site.
    There's no way that your template (or any page, for that
    matter) should
    contain the name of the root folder in any link to any file.
    I believe you would be better advised to start over with a
    fresh site
    definition, honestly.

  • Can we edit the downloaded web page

    hi,
    Can we edit the downloaded(in to client system) web pages in real time with out changing the web page properties. But constraint is that saving the web page is not permeted.
    thank you for answering.
    chiru.

    If you download a page, you can edit your local copy. You may or may not be able to upload the edited page if you do so. It sounds that in your case, you cannot.
    I'm not sure if that answers your question, or indeed what your question really was. Surely you could have tried editing a page you downloaded.
    If you want to have users be able to edit web pages, I'd suggest that you look at web collaboration software. Probably a Wiki would be a good thing. I've also heard interesting things about WebDAV but don't know the details.

  • How can you restrict what gets edited on a web page?

    I have a template with only 1 editable region. It seems that publishers and writers are able to edit *anything* on the page....
    What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks in advance...

    Hard to say without seeing the template. Regions not marked as editable should only be editable in the templates. You shouldn't even be able to edit them in Dreamweaver.
    Are you by chance just using include files (for navigation and such)?

  • I clicked on supercript by mistake when trying to do some editing of a web page. The page is huge on my computer (not online) in firefox...can't remove

    While editing my webpage on Firefox, I clicked on the superscript editor and the font got larger and larger. I did not follow through and actually edit the page online, but I cannot get the page back to normal size on my computer -- only in firefox. Looks fine in other browsers.

    Reset the page zoom on pages that cause problems.

    I have a 27" iMac when I open Safari the web page is only 1/3 the size of the full screen Safari window. I know how to ZOOM in on the web page! My question is, How do I keep this ZOOM setting for all web pages and each time I open Safari up?

    Sorry, but that's not possible.
    An alternative might be to use Zoom in System Preferences > Accessibility
    Or try a different screen resolutioin in System Preferences > Displays > Scaled

  • F4140 Pringting blank page from web pages & pdf

    My F4140 is working and printing but is printing blank pages when I try to print from a PDF.  I just tried to print a word document and it only printed the black and white section and left the color sections blank.  It is also only printing the  black and white portion of a web page and not the color portion (tried to print a one-time coupon).
    I have done an alignment, cleaned the print heads and my ink levels are fine.  The self-test print page prints both in color and black and white just fine.   I tried the print as image and it still came out blank.  The copier works just fine, too.
    Apparently it is not printing anything that is in color. Any idea on what the problem is and how to fix?

  • PDF hyperlink to web page displays web page behind PDF

    We have a development which generates a PDF including hyperlinks to web pages. We issue the PDF out as an attachment and users then read the PDF an click on the link.
    The problem we are experiencing is that some users have the web page fire up behind the PDF. So if they have Acrobat Reader in maximised mode and then click on the link the resulting web page doesn't get focus and so they don't see it (very frustrating). This behaviour only occurs on some PC clients but we can't nail what makes it display the page (or not).
    We are using a standard desktop of min config Windows 2000 upwards, IE6 up, Acrobat Reader 7.0 up (but we also get the same thing happen on 7.1.0 on some desktops).
    Can anyone point us to the component controlling this.
    Regards, Mark

    The code to do it is:
    app.launchURL("http://www.google.com", true);
    But keep in mind it's not going to work if the PDF file is opened in non-Adobe PDF viewers.

  • Apple Newbie : Creating consistent material with Pages, Keynote, Web page

    Hi All,
    I am a recovering XP user with iLife and iWork developing materials for my business. I would like to project a uniform image from printed materials, to Keynote presentations, to web-site.
    I do not want to go down the wrong path - can someone experienced suggest a jump-off point and strategy?
    Thanks in advance,
    David
    MacBook Pro 15"   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   Newbie XP Convert

    Well, the first point would be to consider what you mean by consistent.
    Is it color, is it fonts, is it shapes. Never underestimate the usefulness of having one shape that is used throughout your various projects. I focus on the corners of the shapes, and develop complete systems around those.
    Once you have decided on those, most of the information cna be copied from one program to another. A masked image in Pages can be copied and pasted into iweb or keynote. Most shapes and their information and settings can be copied from one to another.
    Your best bet for working around with this concept is to take a Pages template and see how hard it is to make a consistent Keynote theme and a consistent iWeb theme. Try something that looks complicated but is relatively simple. Do so with the Extreme Newsletter template in Pages and see what is necessary to carry the same 'flavor' from Pages to Keynote to iWeb.
    Have fun,
    Gerry.

  • Ideas for easiest web page editing in OS 10.8

    I used Netscape Composer (v. 7.0) for many years, as a web editor to produce and edit very simple web pages (without the need to program in html). Now I'm running system 10.8, on a new MacBook Pro (with retina display) and can no longer run the versions of Netscape with Composer. What do others recommend as a (preferably free) replacement for Composer?

    Adobe Reader isn't my favorite, but neither are smug and uninformed assertions about Preview. There are PDFs that render only squares and marks under Preview (http://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/24209/this-pdf-displays-with-question-m arks-instead-of-letters), which is a common problem in MS Windows Office generated PDFs, so you may actually need Adobe Reader for Mac.
    If you need to use Adobe Reader (as I do), then it may depend on the filesystem type where you save your PDF.  For example, our Macs are network homed.  Saving to desktop produced the error reported above no matter whether I used Safari:Save As, or the PDF save icon.
    However, when I saved to a local drive (such as /tmp), then it worked.  I don't know why file system makes a difference, unless Adobe is doing something with extended attributes that doesn't get written correctly to some filesystems.
    Hope this helps.

  • Using Dreamweaver to edit *partial* web page (chunks of HTML code)?

    Hello,
    I am using a custom PHP framework to build a website.
    This framework is quite simple, it relies on 2 types of files:
    Templates: site-wide PHP/HTML files including all the logic, HTML header (links to CSS & JS files), Company logo HTML menus & related navigation code, searchbox, footer etc. Only 2 templates exist: one for the homepage, another one for all the other pages.
    "content files": these files contain mostly static HTML code. Content files are imported by the PHP template using PHP's include() function.
    As content files are inserted within a global HTML page, these only  contain chunks of HTML code: no tags such as "head" "body".
    On the attached PNG, the green part is the code from the template, the red part is the code from the "content file".
    A typical template file would be:
              <html>
                <head>
                  (load CSS files, JS files...)
                </head>
                <body>
                  (HTML headers & menus)
                  <?php include($content_file); ?> <!-- Includes partial HTML file with page content -->
                  (HTML footer)
                </body>
              </html>
    A typical content file would be:
              <h1>TITLE</h1>
              <h2>subtitle</h2>
              <p>Lorem ipsum<img src=""  class="myimg" /></p>
              <h2>subitle</h2>
              <p>Lorem  ipsum</p>
    Templates are NOT editable by users.
    Content files are editable by users, using Dreamweaver.
    The problem is, users cannot edit those content files since it is not a valid HTML page. The CSS required to enforce the styles are not loaded since HTML headers are not present. It looks ugly and Dreamweaver tries to insert standard HTML tags such as <html>, <body> and so on.
    I see 2 hypothesis, but I cannot find an answer in the Dreamweaver documentation:
    have DW edit the content files alone, in which cas we would need to tell DW that it is editing a partial web page and not a full one
    have DW edit the content file while applying the PHP template, in which case we would need to tell DW that is should discard most of the code and save only the "content file"
    Hypothesis 1: Standalone edit of content files. Is there a way to tell Dreamweaver
    that it is editing a partial HTML file,
    that it needs to load additional CSS stylesheet to display the styles
    that it should not insert standard HTML body and headers tags, that we know the page is not standard compliant as-is
    that creating additional style is forbidden, it is only allowed to use styles defined in the stylsheet
    Hypothesis 2: Edit of content files within the template. is there a way to tell Dreamweaver
    that it is should add HTML code from the template before and after the loaded "content file"
    that when saving the "content file" it should discard all HTML/PHP code from the template, saving only the content itself
    that creating additional style is forbidden, it is only allowed to use  styles defined in the stylsheet
    I cannot believe noone has been faced with this problem before, the fact is I cannot find any answer about this issue.
    Best Regards,
    M

    I have moved this thread to the Dreamweaver Application Development forum, which deals with PHP and similar issues.
    Several things spring to mind.
    Do your template files have a standard .html file name extension? If so, you could add .html to the file types that Dreamweaver does not automatically rewrite. Select Code Rewriting in the Preferences panel, and add .html to the list of files in "Never rewrite code".
    If your template files use a file name extension not recognized by DW, add them to the list using the instructions in http://go.adobe.com/kb/ts_tn_16410_en-us. You might also need to add them to the list of files that DW doesn't rewrite.
    To get access to styles in pages that are composed of fragments, use Design Time Style Sheets. See http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Dreamweaver/10.0_Using/WScbb6b82af5544594822510a94ae8d65-7e17a .html.
