I recently upgraded my phone but have been unable to edit my phone details on My Nokia as my new phone – Nokia 5070 – does not appear on the drop down list. Why is this?

The site that you are refering to still needs to be updated to contain the 5070 in it's dropdown.
Experience and persistence are second to none just ask user one.

Nokia N73 Music edition phone dead while updating ...

Hi,
I just tried to update my nokia N73 Music edition phone to the latest firmware. When I tried it, it said there is no update available, do you want to reinstall the latest firmware. I wanted to get my phone to a clean to, since most programs were misbehaving, unfortunately while upgrading it stopped at a state saying 14 secs remaining. Then after some time, it said the connection is lost.
It also displayed some instructions to remove the battery, and place usb card first, etc.. I followed all those to no avail. The phone just remained blank. Nothing happened. I have restarted my system, removed the battery from the cell phone multiple times, nothing has helped.
Please help me.

N97 how do I edit the detail in contacts ie mobile...

In order to set up contacts on my new N97 I copied all of the contacts from my Nokia N95 8gig to the old sim, put the sim into the N97 and copied details to the telephone from the sim, then replaced the sim with my new one from my new provider.
All of the contacts appeared BUT the telephone numbers all were listed as "Mobile", even those with multiple numbers, and everybodys names appeared as last names - not as they should be first name last name.
Is there an easy way to put this right - I made a backup of the N95 before the sim expired so should have contacts on that?
Or i can manually put them all right but can't see how to edit the detail - i can delete them or add new ones but not edit (which was easy on the N95) and retype the first names - laborious but possible.
Any tips on this - the handobook is no help sadly. Thanks

first of you can't edit detail in sim contacts. you will have to copy your contacts to the phone memory and once you do that you will be able to edit details better. now the cell phone only bug is here to stay so every number will display as a cell phone rather then home or work number.
go to contacts - options- settings - here you can change last name, first name stuff and also which memories you want to disply and save your numbers to

Increased Phone Memory - Nokia 5800

Something surprising happened. I installed Ovi Suite for the first time and synced my 5800 to it. I had prevously used PC Suite. After synchronizing messages, bookmarks and contacts, I noticed the phone memory increased by 14 megabytes.
Anyone know why this would happen?

IS there a way to edit a detail (title) in N97's c...

I just switched from N95 to N97 and was shocked to find out that there is no way to edit the detail(s) in a contact, i.e. to change the title from "Mobile" to say "Telephone (Home)" and so on!
The N97 will allow only the addition and deletion of a detail but not the editing of an existing detail with a number associated with it. I know one can copy the number then paste it into a new detail which can be added but why the heck would Nokia want us to re-invent the wheel by removing a nice and convenient feature on older models?

isnt there an option to request such features in new firmware updates somewhere?
or is discussing it on forum the only way to let the developpers know?
I enjoyed this feature on my n73 and told al my friends how practical it was and now i have to do without

How to extract phone details

I am using getPhone AXL API to retrieve phone details from CCM 5.1. I couldn't find the following information :
MACAddress,Phone Status,Phone IP,Phone last error etc(phoneTable MIB fields).
Please let me know where/how to get these details using AXL.

You have to call selectCmDevice on RisPort AXL service. But remember, Cisco's WSDL is broken, and you have to manually edit it if you want to use NetBeans or Eclipse IDE to auto-generate all SOAP code for you.

I juest brought a nokia 5070, i installed the pc suite and connected the phone. When i sync the phone nothing happens. Than for the test i connected my old phone nokia 3200 and sync the complete phone to my outlook. No Problem. Then i connected the 5070 again so that i can sync my contacts from the nokia 3200 (now in outlook) to my new phone. But now sync.
Can someone please help me

Nokia 5070 Screen

Today I recived my new Nokia 5070 but on the screen it has a brown dot on the screen. Is that a pixel that still needs working to get the normal colors? For my experience the dead pixel is a black pixel.Please Help!

If you change screen colour and that dot still remains in the same colour is suggested to contact your retailer in order to change phone, or if you prefer deliver phone in nokia care center for a technical assistance.

IRD connectivity, Nokia 5070

I have an issue whith the infrared connectivity of my Nokia 5070.
My computer detects the device properly and I can even transfer files TO the phone using the Windows XP infrared application.
Yet when I try to download files FROM the device, the nokia's software is not able to detect any phone.
Nokia PC Suite v. 6.89.9.3: when attempting to connect via IRD, after a while of "process" an error message is displayed, asking the user to check if the IRD in the PC and device are active, or set the speed to minimum.
Nokia PC Suite v. 7.0.9.2: when attempting to connect via IRD, no process occurs. A screen titled "Connection setup complete" is immediately shown. "you have now the following connections available" is read above a field where the connected devices should be showing, but this field is empty.
Can anyone help me with this?

Hi xdivarius. I have similar HW: Palm IIIxe (old!!!) and a Nokia 5070b. An external USB-IrDa adapter on my PC with a SF-620 chip/driver. As you probably know, there are some USB devices that really work over serial connections. The USB CA-42 Nokia cable, to connect 5070 via usb, is an example. So first of all, check your Com ports speed and to be free from other applications/devices. In fact, you should exit from Palm´s HotSync. Update your IR device driver. Update your PC Suite version. I´m using spanish version of PC Suite v 6.85.14.1 (the last one) and it´s working fine. Even more, I installed a modem driver for 5070 from:
http://ds.my-mam.com/ModemSetup/ModemSetup_USB_V95.exe. This is a Mobile Action site. So I have Nokia 5070b connection with data backup, file manager, messges manager, picture manager, etc. I can connect to Internet via 5070 (very expensive for me...) I hope you can solve your issue. Ola! Basically (also), all mobiles can call (I guess this is the reason why mobile is invented), play (I can say that all of mobiles nowadays has build-in games), and send sms more than 200 a day!!! Whoah, all this time I thought that sms and call limitation is based on your sim card credit… but anyway, maybe you are referring to phone internal memory, so, the 5070 have 4MB of user memory… I guess that can accommodate 200 sms a day… but then again, since this model has no extra memory (e.g. memory card), you will be required to delete some sms on a daily basis also to accommodate incoming messages…
…about “good board” that can write fast… hmmm… are sure you are not going to enter into some competitions for fast texters in Portugal?… anyway, I guess the main consideration if you want to be the fastest texter is the ergonomic design of the keyboard that suits you personally… I mean, you have to consider the keyboard arrangements (which is standard in any mobile as of now – except for Siemens SX1), the space between the keys, and ofcourse, your fingertips… your fingertips must be proportional to your mobile keyboard… and so on…
…anyway, if 5112 board is good for you, then use it instead of 5070… or por pabor, give 5070 a try and let us know… hmm… now I’m interested…

i recently bought a nokia 5070 from menorca and cannot get it off movistar! all the instructions are in spanish!! i tried to call the help line but they did not speak english...i can search for a different network but it wont let me use it, i am confused! is the phone locked? any ideas guys'n'gals??

If the phone is locked to the Spanish network, then only they can provide the unlocking code (otherwise known as a restriction code) to unlock the phone.

hmm thats kinda odd! how he managed to do that i dont know I thought the backups were locked per phone or phonenubmers serial. Anyhow IF you have no backup at all then you have lost everything. There is software out there that can recover data on the phone that was deleted.. I would personally click restore on Itunes and restart over. You cant get back what you lost that easy and software that does recover deleted data may not allways work 100% and costs money for the software..
Lesson learned huh..

Since then I've resolved the WAP problem; but as the OP has stated, the problems I've had with mine have been far and away more than all the phones I've had in the past -combined!
It fails on calls (I'm paying of the call, but nothing can be heard)..Today my touchscreen decided to go AWOL. and locked up..so I took out the battery, same again..then the battery AND the SIM card. Same again..It wouldn't unlock, the only buttons that worked were the push button ones...Then it decided it would work a little, and auto scrolled (Yes really!) the side bar..The it defaulted to the help screen without being touched (Battery out again)...then it worked as it should..but now...if I try to press an icon, it moves up the screen as I press it, so I can't actually open (for example) messages or my address book. If I hold the menu icon down for three seconds, it will eventually open up, but the rest won't..but it might all change in an hour or two..So yes, i agree with the original message it is probably the worse phone Nokia has released.

Why can't I edit phone numbers in the dialer?

If I find a number on the Internet, it is often (at least in Sweden) typed in with country code and then an optional 0 if you're calling domesically, e.g. +46 (0) 8-402 60 00. This number isn't dialable because of the extra 0 inserted there from misguided benevolence.
My phone is also inside a switchboard and I need to add either a 0 or replace the first 0 with +46 (for a Swedish number) in front of every number to be able to make a call. Unfortunately the only way I can find to edit a phone number in the phone number dialer is to erase them from the last digit. Not very efficient if you want to replace the first digit!
Why can't I edit phone numbers anywhere in the string of numbers as anywhere else in the phone and its apps?
Now I have to copy the number either into a new contact or the notepad, edit and then dial.
