Edit Photos in PS from Lightroom

Hello all,
I import photos into LR that reside on DVD using the reference files in there current location option. I then begin the edit process referencing the files on the DVD. It appears that LR will not allow you to use the edit photos in photoshop option when the files reside on a CD/DVD. Is that correct? Is there a work around to allow photos that reside on CD/DVD to be editted in PS using the option within LR? Thx ...

eosBenR,
When you select the menu item "Edit image in Photoshop..", you should be given choices in a dialog box, one of which is to edit a copy of the file. Choose this and you'll be able to edit. You will then have to save this edited file - eventually to CD/DVD if you prefer.

  • Can I send Edited Photos and Video from Lightroom 5 to Premiere 11?

I am new to Lightroom 5 and love the product. Can I export edited Photos and Video from Lightroom to Premiere Elements 11? I need more flexibility than Lightroom offfers. I want to mix Photos then Videos with different music files and create a DVD.  Thank You...Rory...

Also, can I load the Lightroom itself onto an external hard drive and keep all my images off my laptop? If I edit them, do the edits remain on my laptop regardless of where the originals reside. I think that's the issue that I'm running into with Aperture:  edits stay on my laptop even though originals are on an external HD.
Your photos can be on any hard disk, internal or external or network. If they are stored on an external hard disk, then when you import them into Lightroom, you select the ADD option and the photo will remain on your external hard disk. The edits are stored in your Lightroom catalog (as opposed to "remain on my laptop"). Once you import photos into Lightroom, you no longer want to manage them (move, copy, delete) using your operating system. You do all photo management in Lightroom.
If you transfer the photos properly, your edits, cropping, metadata, etc. will transfer to Lightroom, but I will leave the details to some expert on Aperture.
If I could offer some advice, I don't think you want to just transfer SOME of your photos to Lightroom. In my opinion, you want ALL of your photos managed by Lightroom, and not some in application 1 and some in application 2. This makes your life much easier when trying to find your photos, you don't have to think "Is this photo in Lightroom or is this in Aperture?"  (Note: this doesn't mean you have to import all the photos from Aperture into Lightroom in one HUGE operation; you can certainly do the importing in manageable sized groups)

  • Edit Photo in Photoshop from Lightroom

    Hello,
I had a hardware problem and had to reinstall LR 3.6 and PS Creative Suite 4.  I've used the programs for years now and never had this problem.  When I'm in LR, I click on "Photo - Edit in Photoshop" and it should take me to Photoshop and open the photo so that I can continue to edit it.  It opens Photoshop, but does not open the photo.  I didn't know if it was an installation problem or a user problem, so I entered it here first.
    Thanks very much.

Thanks Rick.  I was away and didn't get a chance to respond to this right away.  For some reason, I think the issue had something to do with Lightroom 3.6.  Before anyone had responded to my question, I downloaded 3.3 and it was fine.  Thanks for your comment.

  • Editing photo in photoshop from lightroom 4

When in lightroom 4,  selecting a photo and choosing edit in photoshop, sometimes a dialog box opens asking if I want to open original or copy with lightroom edits and sometimes it just opens in photoshop without the options. Anyone know why that is

    Hello!
If you open a non-raw image such as TIFF, PSD, or Jpeg in Lightroom, you will prompt the dialog box to open asking to "edit a copy with lightroom adjustments", "edit a copy", or "edit a original".
If you open a raw image using the additional external editor option, the only available option is to edit a pixel-rendered copy using Lightroom adjustment: "edit a copy with lightroom adjustments".

  • "Edit in Photoshop" link from Lightroom has stopped working.

My "Edit in Photoshop" link from Lightroom has stopped working.  If I hit "Cmd E" in Lightroom, Photoshop opens, but the picture doesn't appear.  I have LR 5 and PS CC 2014.  I recently uninstalled or deleted PS 6 & PS CC (not PS CC 2014).  Any suggestions?

Same problem here. I uninstalled Photoshop CS5 and reinstalled. No change.  I also tried dumping PS preferences
It opens the Photoshop application with all the menus/windows, but it never opens the actual image I chose to work on.
I'm on a Mac, using OS X Yosemite, 10.10.1  Lightroom is version 5.7  Photoshop is CS5, version 12.0.4
FWIW, I also can't automate>Photomerge ... . Makes me think Photoshop, not Lightroom, is all wacky.

  • Email photos as attachments from Lightroom

Is it possible to email photos as attachments from Lightroom?  If so, how?  When I use the export function in Lightroom to email photos, they are imbedded in the email (gmail), not attached as separate files.

  • Issues with exporting photos to be edited in Photoshop CS6 from Lightroom 5.6 using Yosemite OS.

Suddenly, I'm unable to edit my photos from Lightroom 5.6 in Photoshop CS6.  I have recently converted from Mavericks to Yosemite OS.  But, I haven't had any issues for the past week or two.   Now, whenever I try to Edit photos from Lightroom 5.6 in Photoshop CS6, either nothing happens.  Or from the drop down menu, the option to Edit in Photoshop CS6 is greyed out.  Both Lightroom and Photoshop are the latest versions.  I've even uninstalled, and reinstalled Photoshop CS6 without any improvement.  Help!!!

Sorry, I was wrong about the check box, that only works if you are importing images from a memory card.  If they are already in the catalogue, they will be greyed out in either case.
"I'm pretty confident therefore that it is not in the catalog but it appears that Lightroom for some reason thinks it is."  Well I can't read Lightroom's mind, but I think that Lightroom thinking it is in the catalog is the same thing as it being in the catalog.
When you still have the edited file open in Photoshop CS6, after you have edited and saved it as "IMG_4312-edit.tif," what happens if you try "save as," does it bring you to the correct folder to save it in?  If you try to save as without changing the name does it ask if you want to overwrite the original?  Can you now save it with a new name (e.g. "IMG_4312-Edit2.tif") and have it show up?
You type above, "IMG_4312.CRW, I do some edits in Lightroom but I want to do some more in Photoshop so I send it to the PS CS6 from within Lightroom. The image opens, I make my edits and I click Save. This creates  a new file called IMG_431-Edit.tif."  4312 vs. 431 just make sure you aren't making the same small mistake when searching for the file.

  • Edit in Photoshop CS6 from Lightroom 4.3

I'm in Lightroom 4.3 and right clicking on a image and clicking "Edit in Adobe Photoshop CS6". CS6 opens as if it's going to open up with my photo from Lightroom, but my photo doesn't show up?

This is probably a video card driver bug which has been reported in the PS forum from time to time. It's a PS problem, not a LR problem.
Assuming this is Windows, go to the video card maker's website and download an updated driver. Don't rely on Windows update; they're frequently several versions behind. On a Mac it would have to be through OS X updates.

  • Edit in Photoshop CS6 from Lightroom 4.1 fails

I am using LR 4.1 and PS CS6 on a Win7 64bit system.  Previously with LR3 and LR4 I was able to "Edit in Photoshop" from Lightroom to CS5 and all was well.  Now with LR4.1 and PS CS6 when I "Edit in Photoshop CS6" I get a partial image.  Any image that I try produces various versions of this.  The attached screen capture shows a blank area in the upper left corner.  Other images have shown several smaller blank areas in various positions on the image, and one image contained several blank areas plus a small inset of the image.
This is quite frustrating, as I generally use LR to crop and make minor adjustments in a photo, then edit some photos in PS.  Now I can no longer edit anything in PS without first exporting the image from LR, work on it in PS, then save it and reimport it into LR.  Very inconvenient.
Please advise what I am doing wrong or let me know if there is a workaround.
    Thanks in advance,
    -Herschel

I using nikon D810,and after the adjustment of my JPG file.
When i clicked the 「edit in photoshop cc」,
    the application was coming out,
    but no photo was shown.
Lightroom also doesn't create a new TIFF file .

  • I cannot edit a photo in photoshop from lightroom?

Command E does not work?  I have downloaded and reinstalled both programs without success?

Others have this same problem. See discussion at Re: Photoshop CS6 does not open or create files
I finally got CS6 to work but have no idea what I did that caused it to start working properly again.

  • Edit in Photoshop CS5 from Lightroom 3.2 doesn't open file in Photoshop

    Hi,
I've just made a complete fresh install of Lightroom 3.2 and Photoshop CS5 extended on my new iMac (OS 10.6.4, x64)
Now I'm trying to edit raw-files in Photoshop CS5.
Normally a popup should appear to ask in which format the photo should be opened in PS.
But no popup is shown, Photoshop starts immediately, but without actually opening the photo.
If I configure Photoshop as secondary editor this problem does not appear, and everyting works fine.
But in that case I miss the option for a secondary editor like for example DxO...
    What to do?
    Regards,
    Menno

    Menno,
I can't help you with your primary problem, as I'm not a CS5 user.
But regarding your second concern with having CS5 as a secondary editor and therefore not having the option for additonal external editors:
You can have as many external editors as you like, e.g. CS5 as one, DXO as one, Nik Viveza as one and so on. All you have to do is create different External Editor Presets in Preferences for each desired external editor.

  • Editing in PS CS6 from Lightroom

I have LR 4.4 set up to Edit in PSD format but LR 4.4 still uses jpg if original file is jpg. If I add some layers to the file and save it in PSD format, LR 4.4 won't see it until I import it. There is, however, a new JPG file with "Filename-Edit.jpg" in the library next to the original "Filename.jpg".

Yes, I have the preferences set to export as PSD...
Also, I have been doing this for many versions without any problems UNTIL 4.4.
No, not exactly. Let me explain what I wrote in the original post more clearly.
I scanned some photos (on my scanner) that saves them as a jpg file.
I imported these jpg files into Lightroom 4.4
Now, I want to edit one using Photoshop (as I have done thousands of time before 4.4)
Yes, my preferences are set to edit in photoshop as PSD.
I click "Edit in" and select Photoshop. It does not matter whether I choose Edit Original, Edit a Copy, or Edit a Copy with LR adjustments but the file it sends to Photoshop CS6 is a jpg file with the name "Orig Filename-Edit.jpg". Prior to LR 4.4, the file in this scenario would have been (and should be) "Orig Filename-Edit.PSD".
The file shown in CS6 is the jpg file. The new file in the LR 4.4 list is the jpg. Prior to LR 4.4, the file in both places would have been PSD.
