Edit recipients groups returns 500 error

Hello All
I started having a strange error today on my Exchange 2013 ECP.  When i go in to edit a group under recipient --> groups and select a group and hit edit, i'm getting a 500 Unexpected error message after about 5 minutes trying to open the page.  I
get this from the localhost/ecp as well.  So far this is the only page that i get the error on.  I've restated IIS on all the servers tried different computers / browsers but nothing seems to work.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks in advance for your help
-Chris

Hi Chris,
Does the issue only happen to edit groups? All groups or a specific group? Please check whether you can edit the distribution group by using Set-DistributionGroup cmdlet in EMS.
Please confirm the problematic group is created in legacy Exchange server or Exchange 2013. If possible, please also collect some event logs for further analysis.
Thanks,
Winnie Liang

    From Microsoft HTTP Status code :
    The HTTP status code in IIS 7.0, IIS 7.5, and IIS 8.0
    5XXX- HTTP status codes indicate that the server cannot complete the request because the server encounters an error.
    Its really very difficult to get the root cause for HTTP error status code 500 .There can be various reason starting from data contract to IIS misconfiguration  and Biz Talk misconfiguration as well.
    There is a similar post were you can follow were there was issue with receive location on the VDI .

    I would  suggest to enable IIS tracing and use Microsoft Network Monitor tool to see how packets are send and received from the destination system.

  • Oracle Portal returns 500 error running under Weblogic 11g server

    I've got Oracle Portal set up under Weblogic 11g.
    SSO running, talking to OID 11g, also running under the same Weblogic 11g server. Tested SSO, it is working well.
    After the install (no errors or issue on install), I go to http://<server>:8090/portal/pls/portal and geta Error 500 - Internal Server Error.
    I traced down the problem to OHS - in ohs1.log:

    So the problem is favicon.ico is missing, which I confirmed. Does this mean a bad deployment of an .EAR file? What should I do?

  • 500 Error code while consuming web service using HTTPURLConnection

    Hi,
    I am getting an HTTP response code 500 and an IOException when I run a web service client to invoke a BMC Remedy web service (document based). I am using XML over HTTP to hit the web service as follows:
    // For Remedy
    soapAddress = "http://www.test-sislhelpdesk.siemens.co.in/arsys/services/ARService?server=bomw041a&webService=WebService_Test";
    soapEnvelope = "<SOAP-ENV:Envelope xmlns:SOAP-ENV=\"http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/\" xmlns:xsi=\"http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance\" xmlns:xsd=\"http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema\"><SOAP-ENV:Header><AuthenticationInfo><userName>webservice</userName><password>*******</password></AuthenticationInfo></SOAP-ENV:Header><SOAP-ENV:Body><Q1:OpGetList xmlns:Q1=\"urn:WebService_Test\"><Q1:Qualification></Q1:Qualification></Q1:OpGetList></SOAP-ENV:Body></SOAP-ENV:Envelope>";
    soapAction = "urn:WebService_Test/OpGetList";
         URL url = new URL(soapAddress);
         HttpURLConnection connection = (HttpURLConnection) url.openConnection();
         System.out.println ("Connection got");
         connection.setDoOutput(true);
         connection.setRequestProperty("Content-Type","text/xml");
         connection.setRequestProperty ("soapAction", "\"" + soapAction + "\"");
         OutputStreamWriter outputStream = new OutputStreamWriter(connection.getOutputStream());
         System.out.println ("outputstream got");
         outputStream.write(soapEnvelope);
         outputStream.flush();
         BufferedReader reader = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(connection.getInputStream()));
         String line = null;
         while ((line = reader.readLine()) != null)
              writer.write(line);
              writer.write("\n");
         System.out.println (writer);
         catch(Exception e){
              e.printStackTrace();
    I have created a .NET client proxy which seems to work well.
    I am not able to figure out as to why this code is not working. May be something wrong with the SOAP message request I am sending? But I have created this SOAP request message from the log generated for a successful hit. Any help in this regard will be highly appreciated.
    The web service is on the internet and hance is accessible to all :)
    Regards
    Vaibhav

    Tried "POST" request method, did not work.
    Actually when i hit other web services (created by me) , the code works.
    But when I hit a third party web service, it fails returning 500 error code.
    How can I extract the SOAP message returned, if any and see thinggs for myself.
    I guess there is something wrong with the request SOAP message which I am sending.

    So I see it is not only a address book issue, though it is the first visible hint you get about it. I also get the Password request window for "Retrieving Response Groups" after the log in.
    I looked at similar issues, but what I found was mainly Kerberos issues, but that is not the case here, the user is able to access the folders.

    Hi,
    Try the way the following thread mentioned:

    Hi Andrew. In order for us diagnose this issue, you'll need to capture some network traces using a tool such as Fiddler and share them by sending a Frown.
    To capture a trace using Fiddler, start Fiddler, enable the Tools > Fiddler Options > HTTPS > Decrypt HTTPS traffic option, start the capture, reproduce your issue, then stop and save the capture. You can find more information here.
    Once you've done that, please send a Frown through the Power Query ribbon and attach the traces.
    Thanks,
    Ehren

  • Windows Azure Pack - Server returned HTTP response code: 500 error while accessing the public tenant API

    Hi,
    We are facing the following error while trying to access the given Windows Azure Pack Public tenant API to query the virtual machines list along with network adaper details -
    java.io.IOException: Server returned HTTP response code: 500 for URL: https://<hostname>:30006/<subscription-id>/services/systemcenter/vmm/VirtualMachines?$expand=VirtualNetworkAdapters&$top=10000&$skip=0
    The response is proper when we access the following URL -
    https://<hostname>:30006/<subscription-id>/services/systemcenter/vmm/VirtualMachines
    Only on adding the $expand=VirtualNetworkAdapters, url parameter we are getting the above error.
    Where can we check for the error logs on the Azure Pack server ? We checked for the logs using Windows Event Viewer but did not find any for the public tenant API.
    What should be the cause for such an error and how can we fix this to get the proper data?
    Thanks in advance.

    Yes, we tried this, $top=10&$skip=0 works for the following url
    https://<hostname>:30006/<subscription-id>/services/systemcenter/vmm/VirtualMachines?$top=10&$skip=0
    It is only when we add $expand=VirtualNetworkAdapters,
    the server returns the mentioned error response -
    URL for which the server returns the 500 error -
    https://<hostname>:30006/<subscription-id>/services/systemcenter/vmm/VirtualMachines?$expand=VirtualNetworkAdapters&$top=10&$skip=0
    Can
    you point to the error logs for Windows Azure Pack and SPF ?

  • Urgent help On as2 error The remote server returned an error: (500) Internal Server Error.

    hi,
    im configured the as2 partner setup as per this http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb246129(BTS.20).aspx.
    but when im process file , then file try hit partner url goes dyhradated state,then failed. then i got below error.
    The remote server returned an error: (500) Internal Server Error.
    please any help..
    Thanks

    500 server error could be due to anyone of the following reasons:
    Party configuration is wrong. Party properties/configurations have  to be discussed upfront with the source/destination system and have to be in-line with
    them.
    Certificates have to be deployed in correct folders based on      certificate types like private/public/signed etc.
    Firewall (or network components) has to be opened accordingly for parties(systems) to interact. This change has to be done at the both the levels, source and destination.
    If you receive it through HTTPReceive.dll (may uses this for AS2), you have to check its configurations.
    Also 500 error, could occur even if your BizTalk artifacts has not been configured/deployed/enabled properly.
    If this answers your question please mark it accordingly. If this post is helpful, please vote as helpful by clicking the upward arrow mark next to my reply.

    My iCal won't go online and returns the error message: "The server responded with “500” to operation CalDAVAccountRefreshQueueableOperation."

    OK Now I can answer my own question.  The incomprehensible (inexcusably geeky) error message is actually Apple language for saying simply: "The iCloud servers are down again.  Please wait until we've fixed them."  I found this out by talking to Apple support.  It took about 12 hours for the iCloud server synching calendars to come back online.  When they did, my calendar reloaded, and everything was fine.

    Does anyone have any idea about this? I am not integrating with PI/XI system.

    Hi
    Can you check this out?
    Transaction SXMB_ADM  Integration Engine Configuration
    For an application system you have to maintain the role of the business system as an application system. Set the corresponding Integration Server as an HTTP destination (for example, dest://INTEGRATION_SERVER). Create the destination in transaction SM59 and set the type to HTTP Connections to R/3 System. Test the connection by using the Connection Test button; you should get HTTP 500 u2013 Empty HTTP Request received, because no u201Ereal‟ XML document is sent during this test.
    A HTTP return code 500 (Internal Server Error) is OK.

  • In OpenScript, is there anyway to have an XML post pass if a 500 error is returned?

    Hello,
    We're using OpenScript 9.3.1.0 and are automating some Web Service tests.  One of the scenarios is to test when data is sent to the service where no valid session exists, we expect a 500 Interval Server error to be returned.  I have created a test using XML Post Data, however because the server throws a 500 error, this always reports as failed even though the "Text Match Test" with a regex testing the error message passes as expected (as you can see in the attached screenshot).  Is there anyway to tell OpenScript that we expect a [500 Internal Server] error when creating the test, or not to fail on when a condition occurs?
    Thanks in advance,
    Michael.

    You probably need to keep that cookie and create an exception as well, so you can't use Private Browsing or clear the Cookies and Site Preferences via [[Clear Recent History]]. You can let all cookies expire if you close Firefox. That will keep the cookies that have an exception.
    In [[Private Browsing]] mode all cookies are session cookies that expire if that session is ended, so websites won't remember you.

    Looks like C# code and you've posted to the Visual Basic forum.
    Anyway, an error 500 means that there is a problem accessing the resource in the web request. There could be many reasons for this so I would verify that the web request is correct first and if it continues to fail then the resource (web page?) needs to
    be fixed before your code will function.

    Did you create a new web application or modify an existing web application?
    I would start by checking the ULS logs, maybe there is an incorrect setting within one of the web.config files, or SQL permissions.
    Also, as suggested above, check application pools are running.
    This blog post is a great guide for setting up FBA, check it through to make sure you haven't missed any steps:

    This is a Tunnel. Status: OPEN, Raw Bytes Out: 3,797; In: 7,604
    The selected session is a HTTP CONNECT Tunnel. This tunnel enables a client to send raw traffic (e.g. HTTPS-encrypted streams or WebSocket messages) through a HTTP Proxy Server (like Fiddler).
    To enable Fiddler's HTTPS-decryption feature and view decrypted traffic, click Tools > Fiddler Options > HTTPS.

  • Workflow Manager for SP2013. The remote server returned an error: (500) Internal Server Error.

    I am *almost* all the way through provisioning my on premise SP 2013 farm for SharePoint 2013 Workflows.  Workflow manager is installed alongside Service Bus.  Workflow Manager client is installed on the SP servers.  I built a new simple list-based
    workflow in SP Designer 2013, saved it, and published it without any errors.  However, when I go back to the list in my portal and try to run the workflow, I get the "Sorry, something went wrong" page, and the logs say this:
