Edit .tiff images with IE

Totally new to this.
I was using the trial PSE8.
I frequently work with images from the Library of Congress (LOC), specifically .tiff images.
I'd open the image, click FILE and was able to then click on EDIT WITH PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS 8.
It worked beautifully and I was ready to purchase PSE8 as a result.
Then version 9 was available so I thought I'd try it out before deciding which version to purchase.
Downloaded 9 today and went to grab some LOC images and when I click on FILE once the .tiff image opens, the EDIT WITH(...) is gone and the EDIT is not accessible.
Being a complete novice, I am unsure how to integrate (or whatever) PSE9 with IE so that I can once again edit these .tiff images with a click of the mouse.
Can anyone help me with this?
Thanks very much.

I should have said that the LOC's .tiff images open with Quick Time.
Right clicking on the image when it opens only offer option for settings, speed, language.
I have found a solution, though:
I opened a LOC image using Firefox and was able to save it and then open it using PSE9.
Thanks again for being helpful

  • Editing MULTIPLE images with lightroom 2 corrections in CS3

    Does anyone know how to send multiple images with LR2 corrections to CS3
    for further editing? If I select multiple images in LR2 and click photo/edit in/photoshop cs3 only one image opens in photoshop. If I could send more than one image at a time it would greatly speed up my workflow.
    Thanks

    It works for me when I highlight multiple images, right-click on one of them, choose edit in Photoshop. If this isn't working for you, is it possible that your Photoshop screen mode is such that you have to switch images using the Window option on the menu?

  • GTX 470 or 570 for editing TIFF sequences with Mercury

    Hello! II am making a short film with Cinema 4D and I'm thinking of getting either a GTX 470 or 570, does anyone know if using the mercury engine will actually improve editing speed with uncompressed 1080p TIFF sequences? All the prerendering slows down the editing process I'm on a i7-950 with 12 gb DDR3 and a ATI 5770 currently, my OS drive is also an SSD if that matters. My editing drives are just regular drives though, no RAID either. thanks!

    I have a GTX 480 (with MPE hack) and a i7 980x, 24GB ram and a 3-disk Raid 0.  I've never been able to get a TIFF sequence to playback in real time.  The best I get is probably a choppy 4 frames per second.    I know this doesn't answer your question entirely, but maybe it can help a tad.
    I myself I'm trying to get find a way to playback TIFF sequences.  I'm going to be setting up a 4-disk Raid 0 on an eSata raid box, but I'm thinking at some point it's just getting bottled necked at my port connection.  Not sure.  Others can probably shed more light on the Raids.
    The best way I've been able to adapt so far is to create annoying proxy sequences (hence my repeat posts about Premiere needing proxy capabilities).  I drop my TIFF sequence in a new sequence.  Render it out in low rez. Drop that new low rez version onto the same sequence so now it has two--one HD 1080 and SD 720 (ok, so it's not really SD).  I turn on the SD version and the other one off.  I make my cuts and edits on my sequences and then when everythings all nice and purdy, I flip the switch back on the HD version and I'm ready for final rendering.
    I have my "SD" version set at 720 so it's obviously smaller than the other clips so I don't inadvertantly leave it on for the final render.
    Not a great workflow and adds some steps, but that's been my best workflow so far.

  • Editing TIFF file with an adjustment brush vs. Photoshop Layer

    I have some TIFF files I need to do some adjustments on. Mostly darkening the sky. Where the sky meets the foreground it is made up of tops of Spruce Trees.
    My question is, can/should I use the adjustment brush in Lightroom to do this, or should I make a layer in Photoshop to do this?
    I have found that when using the adjustment brush over the tops of Spruce trees, it is best to just paint over the whole thing, or else it will look artificial. Not sure if doing this in Photoshop would make my life easier? Any comments? Thanks.
    Scott

    A couple of comments: either a graduated filter or a brush-painted adjustment which paints across (for example) the horizon / tree / silhouette line of (say) a bright sky, will naturally (or, better to say, unnaturally) affect  the overlapped parts too, IF you use the "Exposure" slider to do this. In that case one would need to be reasonably precise and finicky about the masking, which IMO goes a little against the intention of these tools within LR..
    However, if you use the new LR4 "Highlights" slider instead, the result is much less artificial-looking IMO - even if you have painted (or graduated) quite loosely to include some areas of darker buildings, trees, mountains etc. This is because rather than affecting the whole tone scale, only bright regions of the picture are affected by "Highlights". Conversely, only dark areas of the picture are affected by the "Shadows" adjustment, when you use that.
    So in that context, one would only need to erase back out of the painted mask, any areas where this adjustment was noticeably unwanted - which is often, a better way to proceed than attempting to paint your adjustment postively up to a boundary. The effect of a smoothly graduated adjustment can be achieved by using a very large, very soft-feathered brush in the first place, rather than the Grad tool - with the advantage that unlike the grad tool, a smaller harder brush can then be used in Erase mode to cut out areas as required. Depending on the nature of the adjustment, this too can be done fairly loosely - or, with Auto mask turned on.
    Auto mask can be a little blocky and harsh in the way it treats an edge, but this tends not to matter when you are erasing out, so much as when you are painting in.

  • Editing Still Images with iMovie and iPhoto

    How do I turn "stills" created from imported film footage into jpegs? Basically I want to export still images from my videos into iphoto so I can edit and print the images - any ideas? When I drag the still images within iMovie 08 they won't drag to either the desktop or iphoto. HELP!

    1) Position your cursor where you want to create the still.
    2) Right-click (or control-click) and select "add still frame to project
    3) Right-click on the still frame that has been added to your project and select "Reveal in Finder"
    4) Right click on the jpeg file that has been revealed in the finder and select "copy"
    5) Paste the jpeg file onto the desktop or within a folder.
    6) Drag the jpeg file into iPhoto.

  • Editing metadata in a TIFF image

    Hi everyone,
    I'm trying to edit TIFF image metadata using ImageIO v1.1 APIs, but something goes wrong...
    For a TIFFImageWriter I get the following results:
    writer.canInsertEmpty = true
    writer.canInsertImage = true
    writer.canRemoveImage = false
    writer.canReplaceImageMetadata = false
    writer.canReplacePixels = true
    writer.canReplaceStreamMetadata = false
    writer.canWriteEmpty = true
    writer.canWriteRasters = false
    writer.canWriteSequence = trueSo editing metadata with writer.replaceImageMetadata is not possible (I verified this, an exception is thrown). I thought I could remove an entire image and reinsert it with new metadata, but as you can see writer.removeImage is unavailable, too.
    How can I edit a TIFF image without rewriting it to a totally new image file?
    Any help will be appreciated,
    Giuseppe

    Huh... I am in bitmap... OK, how would I go about changing to RGB? Not a complete novice, but never had a similar problem before.

  • White box behind transparent images with drop shadow in InDesign CC 2014 (v.10) but not in InDesign CC (v.9)

    Hi all,
    Please can you help? No matter what settings I use in my print options in InDesign CC 2014 (v.10), ALL transparent images with a drop shadow are printing with a white box behind the image. If I remove the drop shadow, all prints fine. I know this is an old issue that happens with ID sometimes but I have been lucky enough to never have had it happen to me before! (All images are regular flattened TIFF images with clipping paths).
    Also, feathered edges are not printing correctly and are sharp instead of feathered.
    When I export the document to IDML and open it up in InDesign CC (v.9) all prints perfectly with no white boxes and feathered edges prints perfectly as well. I have compared all of the print settings (including color management, transparency flattener, etc.) between both versions and they are exactly the same. I am printing to a Xerox color laser printer. Can anyone offer any advice?
    Thank you so much,
    Christine

    Okay...false alarm! It turns out that the issue was with my PRINTER settings (the settings you customize after hitting the “Printer” button at the bottom of the Print dialogue box in ID CC. I thought I had triple checked this but it seems there was one setting I missed earlier…adjusting the print brightness seemed to cause the issue. SO GLAD to know it was not InDesign…20 or so sheets/prints later….and thankful to know what was causing the issue! Thank you so much Steve for helping at any rate:) Much appreciated:)

  • Unable to view TIFF image in BSP page

    Hi ,
    I have put in the URL of a TIFF image in the BSP code to display the image but the image refuses to appear. I found out that a TIFF image does not appear even in a normal HTML page. Is there any way to make this possible.

    Hi,
    we had the same problem. As far as I know there is no "build in" way to display tiff-images with a browser.
    We use a Java-applet to do this. We use ViewOne from Daeja image systems. Look at <a href="http://www.daeja.com/">http://www.daeja.com/</a>. That works very good.
    Hope that helps.
    Best regards

  • Reading in data from IPTC keywords from a CSV and writing those keywords to TIFF images

    Hi All,
    I have a client that I'm working with that has a specific request for a script, or possibly a plugin.  I'm interested in both hearing if folks here think it is feasible, and also if anybody here would be interested in doing the work on this.
    I have never done PhotoShop scripting and I think it would be the best use of resources to subscontract this out, unless it proves exceedingly easy.  The kind of thing someone can do in a single forum post.  In which case, if you do that for me, I'll be sure to get you something for your time as a thank you :-)
    Here's the situation: my client runs a niche stock photography business and deals with tens of thousands of hi-res TIFF images.  Each of those images is assigned a list of keywords, a serial number, the photographer who took the picture, the date, the location, etc.  Lots of information.  He's got a FileMaker Pro database where he stores all that information.
    Some of those bits of information he also wants in the IPTC data for the TIFF image.  The keywords in particular are the main field he's interested in getting into the TIFF images.
    He has been dealing with this process manually so far in Bridge CS4.  He goes to each image, and copy/pastes the keywords into the IPTC data.  But he's interested in figuring out a better way to do this.  He can get a spreadsheet that has all the keywords and filenames out of his database, and what we'd like to do is have a Photoshop script that can read in that CSV file, and then scan a directory for TIFF images with those filenames, and write the appropriate keywords onto those TIFF images.
    Is this possible?  I'm eager to hear feedback on this.  Right now he's got a slew of 1800 images that he got on slide film from photographers, and has scanned, but hasn't written the IPTC keywords to yet.  If we can use this process on those, that would be great.
      -Josh

    Hi Paul and Mark,
    That link Paul posted looks very promising.  I'll have to test it out.
    One question: is there anywhere I can get Adobe Bridge CS4?  Since that's what my client has, that's what I'd like to test with.  I've been looking but can't find anything but the most recent version (CS5) for trial download.

  • Reading TIFF images without IMAQ vision

    Hi,
    Is there anyway to read TIFF images with LV 7.1 but without IMAQ vision? I know it's possible for PNG, BMP and JPEGs, but seems impossible to read TIFFs without IMAQ Vision.
    Thanks.
    Kian

    LabVIEW doesn't do this automatically, but maybe someone has a VI they're willing to share.
    Another possibility would be to use an external program to convert the TIFF to another format (BMP for example) and then to read in the BMP picture.
    If you're looking to write something yourself, then this might help.
    Hope this helps
    Shane.

  • How to edit 16bit TIFF image sequence file in FCP?

    Dear all,
    I have a number of 16 bit TIFF image sequence files (2048 x 1024 resolution) - some of them are RED footage, and others came directly from our f/x guy. We are going into a color correction session in a post house and we've been asked to provide a sequential 16 bit TIFF image sequence of the edited time line.
    I need to do a cross dissolve b/w most of the clips I have. I have created image sequence QT movie (reference files) from the TIFF images. Though they play fine in QT player, when I try importing into FCP, I am met with a "general error". I tried both dragging it into QT, as well as File --> Import.
    I am wondering what can I do to get these clips into FCP in order to apply the cross dissolve transitions I need. Is this a problem relating to the 16bit nature of the TIFF files?
    I tried exporting the TIFF image sequence standalone QT movie, and those imported fine. However, I have a feeling that the standalone movie conversion also decrease my bit depth from 16 to 8. (When I do my final TIFF output from FCP after dissolves / transitions had been applied, each TIFF file is now 8 MB instead of 12 MB, hence my suspicion that the bit depth is adjusted).
    Are there any settings I am missing, or does FCP simply don't support 16 bit image sequence reference file. As a test, I had also converted all my TIFF to jpg, and created jpeg image sequence reference file. These reference QT file can be successfully imported to FCP and I can edit them as if they are a clip.
    If FCP is not able to handle these files, what are my other options? After Effects?
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thank you.
    Michael
    <Edited by Moderator>

    As far as I know, both FCP and Color only support up to 10 bit color, which is 1024 levels for each color channel, more than enough for avoiding color banding.
    If you need 16 bit for sure, I believe AE will support 16 bit output. Another 16 bit application would be the extended version of Photoshop, which has some limited time line capability.
