Edit tracks on itunes

was just wonderin if anyone knows of a way to edit tracks on itunes if at all possible? have a track with 6 mins silence at the end and wonderin if it can be shortened.

there's a couple of ways of doing it. one's a "reversible" fix, the other one permanently chops those bits of silence off the end.
to fix the the song "reversibly", right-click on the track in your itunes library, and select "Get info". click on the "Options" tab, change the "Stop Time", and click OK. (you might have to fiddle with it a bit to get the right amount of silence chopped off the end.)
to chop off those minutes of silence permanently, see the following user tip:

  • Editing tracks in iTunes

Could somebody please advise how I can edit tracks copied into itunes from CD (imported as AIFF, ie not compressed).
I would like to be able to divide, combine, change volume, add fade out/in etc, before copying them from a playlist to CDR.
    Thanks very much

    Chris
    Thanks
I had a quick look at Audacity.
Do you import CD tracks to Audacity, edit them and then drag them to the iTunes library for copying to CD from a playlist?
I am not quite clear yet.
    Thanks again

  • How can I share the work iTunes with my home iTunes so I can work from home? Need to be able to share playlists and files for editing tracks.

I've just started working for a media company that provides the music for sporting events. They use iTunes to create playlists that I have to load into an IR machine with hot keys. I also have to edit tracks to create new stings and intros. As there is a 2.5 hour commute, I want to access the work iTunes library from my home MBP so I can work from home. When I'm at work I can share the work iTunes library, but when I'm back home I can't use it. Any ideas of how I could effectively Home Share over the internet with two seperate iTunes accounts?
The work iMac is running 10.7.5 and my MBP is 10.8.4

In that case, does anybody know of a program or workaround that will make this so?

  • I am having trouble editing track names and information in my Itunes library.  Help center says click on selected track, click on file, click on get info, make changes, and press save.  When I get to get info, it won't let me change anything. Help??

How do I edit track names and information in my I-tunes library?  I followed the Help Center instructions, but it will not let me change anything.  Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Those symptoms usually indicate a permissions problem. See Repair security permissions for iTunes for Windows for advice.

  • Editing track info in new iTunes 11.0?

I edit the info in each track, album etc, such as creating my own genres, adding years to the track title, correcting any mistakes, etc
I have downloaded the latest version on iTunes but now cannot seem to edit the info of a track that has been purchased from the ITunes store (I can still edit tracks Ive uploaded myself from CD).
How can I change the info of tracks?
    Thank you

The option is still there: iTunes -> File menu -> Devices -> Transfer purchases from...

  • ITunes Won't Let Me Edit Track Info

Usually, when I want to rename or edit something in a track within iTunes, I right-click, get info and I change it from there. For some reason now, most of my songs information (artist, track number etc.) cannot be changed. This problem affects about 50% of my library.
    Help !

Song files can sometimes have their Read Only status activated when moving from disk to disk. In iTunes, select one song giving your trouble, and press Ctrl-R. Right-click the file, and choose Properties. Read Only is probably checkmarked.
You don't need to uncheck each file individually. You can right-click on your My Music folder and opt to remove the checkmark on all items it contains with one click.

  • Editing amount of pause time or dead air between tracks in iTunes

Is there a way to increase the pause time between tracks in iTunes? Currently iTunes plays seamlessly from one track to the next, sometimes even clipping the end of a track. I'd like to have a second or two pause between tracks. Is there a way to do this?
    Thanks.

If it's clipping the end of a track, then Crossfade Playback is probably turned on. Turn it off, and iTunes will move from one song to the next exactly as it does on the CD (i.e., with however much space between them as there is on the album).

  • Is there a way to edit music from itunes to use in an iphoto slideshow

I would like to use a section of a song for a slideshow I am making, but only want to use part of the song. Is there a way to edit the song? If so, how do I do this?

    Christine:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Not with iTunes or iPhoto. You can edit a track in iTunes to play only a selected portion but that editing does not carry over to use in iPhoto.
You can use a 3rd party audio editor like Amadeus Pro to select the portion of the track you want to use and create a new file with it. Import the new file into iTunes and use in iPhoto. Some users have suggested using Garageband if you've installed it. It takes up too much disk space for me and I prefer using Amadeus Pro.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Unable to edit music on iTunes, help please.

I am having problems editing tracks. I use either iTunes, or Tag & Rename to edit tracks. I had no problems at all in XP doing this. but, I have moved to Vista and now the track if I try and edit it, it's "greyed" out. I cannot edit it with eithger program.
I moved my old iTunes onto my External HD and moved the HD to my laptop.  I then copied the iTunes folder over to Music on the laptop, and it found the HD no problem, copied over playlists, and counts. It syncs without a problem and continues the counts.

It is a bit of a downgrade not being able to edit music details on the phone, but the only solution I've found is to make sure it's right before I drag and drop it onto the phone, then the issue becomes somewhat irrellivant ?

  • Can't edit track info on some tracks...

I've had this issue since iTunes 7.5, now I'm using 7.6.
Lately I've been having problems when trying to edit track info in iTunes. Some tracks info field is greyed out and I therefore I can't make any changes to these tracks. Often it's tracks from an album where the other tracks are fully editable. When I choose show info in Finder on these specific tracks, only "System" has read and write access to the file. If I try to add myself (admin) Finder crashes and restarts. I've tried to change ID3 tags in iTunes but I'm told that the file is protected. I've also tried to change ID3 tags in MP3 Rage but to no help, it doesn't change anything in iTunes.
I'm not really sure if this is a problem due to my OS 10.5 rather than iTunes, since I'm having the same issues with other kind of files e.g. pictures imported from my digi cam. When trying to rotate a picture in picture wiever and saving it, I'm told that I don't have the necessary permissions. And then again if I try to give myself read and write access Finder crashes.
I've tried to repair disk permissions but are told that no repairs are necessary.
All n all my Mac has been behaving strangely since upgrading to 10.5 (and now 10.5.1). Besides the issues described above, I'm experiencing "strange" things, such as volumes not being mounted, program and document icons changing, when trying to move a file (within folders on my internal drive) it's being copied instead of moved, and so on...
I'mreally desperate for a little help, as I haven't got a clue about what's going on.
    TIA for any input.

Ok just randomly solved this problem.I checked the iPhone and found the manually manage the music was unchecked. Checking this fixes things, but everytime I plug my iPhone into the computer it unchecks it again. Yet another reason NOT to upgrade to iTunes 11.

  • Can't edit files in itunes

I am running itunes 6.0 on winxp pro.
When importing tracks into itunes the vast majority of them will let me edit the information and rename the files so I can organize. However, certain files that I import will not let me edit them at all (ie.. can't rename the artist or album so I can organize them properly). Can anyone tell me what is happening here and how I can fix it?
    Thanks

The files in question are probably marked Read Only. Go find the file, check its properties, and turn off the Read Only flag. You'll need to restart iTunes for it to let you edit those files after this.

  • Is there a way to edit track order in the new info window?

The "Get Info" window changed for version 12.1, and in the process, the "track number" fields were eliminated. Is there still a way to edit track order on albums, or has that option been taken away entirely?

Okay. I'm still on iTunes 11.4.
-> Using the new iTunes - Apple Support
    "Get Info
To see more info about an item, select it and choose File > Get Info. Get Info has been completely redesigned in iTunes 12 to focus your attention only on what’s necessary for the selected item.
If you’d like to add a field that isn’t visible, click Add Field in the lower-left corner of the Get Info window. You can select additional fields and set fields you’d like to always show. In iTunes 12, Get Info opens on the Details tab, and information about the file can be found on the File tab."

  • Manualy renaming tracks in itunes not working properly?

this being my 5th or 6th ipod since ive started collecting them several years ago, i shouldnt even have this question
i manually manage all of my songs/play lists through itunes to begin with
when i rename the artist, album or genre i have no problems,
but when i try and rename the NAME of the track is almost seems that itunes clicks me out of the window making it almost impossible for me to rename a song.
i just updated to itunes 7.4.3, which i thought would solve the problem, and also restored my ipod once, which also has the most upto date software on it.
i just had a 5generation 80 gig ipod about a month ago which i sold to buy the new thinner classic... i had NO problems ever with that one... but this new classic ipod made me install a new version of itunes which has done NOTHING BUT GIVE ME PROBLEMS.
    anyone have the same problem?

Yes! I've noticed the same thing in the most recent release or two of iTunes. Occasionally I like to change the track name from the main iTunes screen by using the <F2> key to go into "text edit" mode while the track is selected. This always worked fine before. But now, if I try to use the arrow keys or the delete key to move through or edit the selected text (track title), it seems to "save" the change (or not?) and immediately kick me out of "edit mode".
There's something funny going on. Sure wish it would go back to the way it was before. Editing track names from the main screen is no longer really viable.
