Edit with command grayed out

Hi all,
One of my Flash designers is having an issue with his flash.
In the past, he was able to right click on a PSD and edit it via
photoshop, but now the command is grayed out.
The version of Flash is CS3 (we haven't moved to 4 yet) and
the Version of OS is 10.5.6 (latest with all updates of about a
week ago.
Any suggestions on how I would be able to get this
functionality back would be helpful.

update: In an older file the option works... In his current
file it isn't working. If this helps.

It’s often awaiting a user action e.g. opening a photo in the main Editor space or making a selection or a new layer or flattening an image or changing bit depth etc.

Best guess is the Edit command requires Dynamic Link, which is only available when you buy the whole suite.

Sub Problem:
When using the advanced edit cursor, right click Is used to select a hyperlink-properties the first time the dialog box pops up it does not have “focus” (not sure that is the right term, but the box is grayed out and will not respond to the keyboard.). It must be mouse clicked to get focus. The second time a link is right clicked to properties the popup responds to the key board and will move to the action tab with ctrl-tab
It’s not clear to me where the acrobat program is at that point.
Is that a known action or problem with acrobat pro 9.4.4?
Is there a key or keys from the keyboard that can force focus to the box?
The problem is each file I open I have to manually find a link and right click it to get the box then click in the box to get “focus”. After the first one the box pops up with focus.

Main Problem:
I have been working on converting a set of pdf files with 1000’s of hyperlinks like www.site.com\folder1\file1.pdf#page=10
To jump to a local copy of the files with a relative type link
../folder1/file1.pdf and then go to the proper page.
I have found that it can be done manually by changing the hyperlink to a javascript
var otherDoc = app.openDoc('../folder1/file1.pdf', this);otherDoc.pageNum = 10 - 1;
and setting each destination file with a disclose()=true;

I have resorted to the following plan using acrobat javascript, an external keyboard macro recorder and excel in combination to get around the problem
Four folder level acrobat javascripts with “buttons”
One to get all the link quads in an array, in the pdf and report the total number
The second creates a form field in the far corner of the first page and moves there.
The third jumps to each link found by creating a form field just to the left of the link and zooms in so it can be selected by a “mouse click” from the keyboard macro recorder
The forth deletes the form field
The keyboard macro recorder runs javascript 2 and then 3 then clicks on the link just to the right of the middle of the screen and uses keys to get to the advanced editing to get to edit the hyperlink .
The hyperlink is then copied to excel where it is converted using string functions to the needed javascript text to be copied back.
To the acrobat file into a java script (after deleting the hyperlink)
Rinse/lather/repeat
I have been able to convert about 150 links an hour.
Better then hand typing, but not like having java access to the links.

I didn't intend to say you must close the X box after each
apply. It's OK to apply one change and go to another item before
closing the dialogue. It's the OK button that messes up sometimes.
Even when you hit the Apply button for a very large selection
of topics, the OK button sometimes will undo the apply, not
necessarily for all selected topics. Even when you've made just one
batch change.
I think it's because OK tries to re-set all settings (that's
why it takes forever), but does not correctly pick up the mass
changes previously applied. Or maybe it takes forever because it
can't find the new info and defaults to the existing settings.
A pain in the butt when you're trying to apply a stylesheet
to a very large number of topics. Please don't ask me to define "a
large number."
Maybe it's a space limit in RH, similar to the space limit
for the number of characters in a batch of file names you want to
import. Or maybe the OK button doesn't look in the right places.

PS CS6 Edit commands grayed out to copy / cut objects and layers?

Why are my edit commands (copy and cut) grayed out / unavailable? When trying to copy a selected layer or object, all my editing commands are grayed out and unavailable. No idea why. Even if I convert something to a smart object, no joy. The only thing I seem to be able to select and copy/cut/paste is text in the text edit mode. makes no sense and is rendering PS unusable. How do I fix this?

Your seeing the transform handles with the move tool.
Try something like this:
Open an image
Click on the Rectangular Marquee Tool in the tool box
(just below or to the left of the move tool in the tool box)
(or press M on the keyboard)
Draw a selection (marching ants)
Edit>Copy
Edit>Paste
You should end up with a new layer with the copied contents from within the selection

I just upgraded from PE 7 to PE 12. Most of my editing options are grayed out. What's up with this?

Why are most of my editing options grayed out in PE 12? I am a painter and I need to crop and edit my paintings. Specifically, I need to distort them to bring them back into square. I know that has a technical name but don't know it.

What a weird thing that I had to be in "expert" mode. I'll never know why software manufacturers need to make things more complicated.

Edit-flash button grayed out

Hey, I have Dreamweaver MX2004 and Flash MX2004 normally
installed on my computer. Although my edit-flash button is grayed
out when i'm in the properties panel of the .swf document (who i

No, PSE 6 and later never displays an icon for a sub-category. If you accidentally created a sub-category where a leaf keyword tag will do, change the sub-category to a keyword tag by right-clicking it, and then you'll be able to assign an icon. But if you change the keyword tag back to a sub-category, the icon will disappear.
None of that design seems very well thought out.

Edit in Photoshop "Grayed out"

I have Photoshop CS5 Extended and Lightroom 2.7. When selecting 5 images, right clicking on them and trying to edit them in Photoshop those features are grayed out. Actually all feature which should work with PS are grayed out, but Nik features work.
Actually even just trying to edit one picture is grayed out as well.

Try this, it worked for me. If you are uncomfortable editing you registry you might try uninstalling and reistalling CS5.

Help! FCS3-How do I reduce bitmap size if drop down edit item is grayed out?

I am in Flash CS3. I need to reduce a bunch (300) Bitmaps pixels dimensions from 1068 px to 270 px across (and proportional height) in library but the "edit with..." (external editor) drop down item is grayed out. I have tried everything, including looking for ways to export the Bitmaps to create new images and update library items. I am stumped! Hi,
One solution I can think of is to use your bean to set up more than just a Vector of values from the database. If you could instead create a vector of objects which contain a reference to the row as well as the data then you can use that to name the select control:

This would then require you to access all request parameters and search for those starting with "Choice_" you can then extract the reference from the name and the new selection from the value.

'Edit Project' button grayed out for a project

I have been working on a project but it stopped working all of a sudden. The 'Edit Project' button is grayed out and won't let me click on it. The movie doesn't appear in the preview pane either.

Using MacBook Pro with Snow Leopard
I have sped up some of the clips
No other effects used
The earlier versions of this project (which are Hi-Vis Vest 1 and Hi-Vis Vest 3 in the screenshot) are editable BUT won't play in the preview pane but will play on full screen mode.
Anyone else have the same issue?

ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!!! i too teach classes and need editing at my fingertips. among many classes i also teach our school district fitness class elementary program, and i found a k pop song that had a nig**word i missed it before when scanning for clean content (who thought koreans would need to use that word in a pop song especially all they have been through!) so i had to move it out of the playlist asap . kids shouldn't be exposed to this language from me, as i don't promote such crap and i should be able to move that right away so that is out of the way. same with other classes cant have muthua f** or Sh** or A$$ or what ever its gotta be clean, but sometimes i miss **** ya know so its gott move. APPLE WHAT THE #$%^@#%$&**#$@!!!!!!
THIS IS IMPORTANT. so i have folders and sub folders like spin folder then all my spin playlists under that. im not making a new friggen folder for every song playlist are yu kidding??? GGGGRRRR

Preview Commands Grayed Out

The commands in the daughter menus of the Tools > Mark Up and Tools > Annotate commands in Preview are always grayed out.
This does not change, regardless of tool selected or whether a portion of the image has been highlighted or not.
It does not matter whether a JPEG or a PNG image is the current file opened.
Similarly, the "Select" and "Annotate" buttons do not work. Clicking on the "Select" button has no effect, and the "Annotate" button is stuck on the elliptical shape and does not drop down, either.
This was precipitated I think by Mac OS X 10.5.6. It was an update on my MacBook, and it came pre-installed in my iMac. Both macs exhibit this problem since 10.5.6.

I just tried it on several pdf files.
On some, the text markup is not an option - presumably the "text" is not really text but a graphic. On those documents the markup options are grayed out as in yours.
On other pdf docs which clearly have text, if I select a line of text and then choose tools->Mark Up, the options are not grayed out.
I think it's a matter of whether the "text" to be marked up is actually text or a graphic image of text, which is not the same thing.

Edit in Audition Grayed Out in P-Pro CC 2014 Running Win 8.1

I know this issue already has a thread, but the solution is for users running Win 7 who's solution would not work with Win 8.1. When I right click any audio clip of any file type, the "Edit in Audition" option is grayed out on both of my machines running Win 8.1. I don't recall this problem prior to CC 2014. Any ideas or better yet, solutions?

There will be an Untitled Session .sesx file in your documents folder
The path : ( C:\Users\Username\Documents\Adobe\Audition\6.0\Untitled Session 1 )
Please right click on this file and click on the option Open with
It will open the windows to select default program.
Please chose Audition in there .
Then try to use the option edit in Audition again in premiere pro.

Edit to tape Grayed out

I have Dual 2.7 G5 with a Kona IO box. I laid off a couple of shows last night no problem and i come back today to finish up and my Edit to tape is grayed out. I restarted the computer and Kona box and no difference. I tried connecting it to different decks and different projects that worked in the past and nothing. Any suggestions.

I thought you had to have a sequence highlighted in the browser window for edit to tape to be active.
re 422 and/firewire machine control. For some strange reason some manufacturers allow editing over firewire but do not have sufficient protocols for edit over 422 serial unless the deck is "edit capable". thus it appears 422 is for capture. You can edit over 422 if the destination deck is edit capable. you can edit to a dbeta deck with kona2 using 422 because of the deck's capability

Place command grayed-out

Updated ID, AI, PS CC 2014. Uninstalled ID, AI, PS CC. Updated Bridge CC. Version 6.1.0.116 x64, Win 7. "Place" command is grayed-out. Rebuilt prefs using Ctrl key on Bridge startup. Still grayed-out. Any ideas?

I knew I should have waited before I installed CC(2014)... I had down time so I uninstalled all my CC's that were to be replaced by CC(2014),but Bridge did not have a new CC(2014) so I never uninstalled, because I figured it would be updated to allow SENT TO, and PLACE function; WAS I WRONG!
Now I have to completely UNINSTALL Everything and then wipe Adobe CC with a cleaning tool? If our developers missed a large feature like this, we would be out of business. This happens more often then not with you Adobe, straighten this up so others do not have to UNINSTALL every program and wipe it clean then re-install, some people cannot do this due to data caps and time restrictions. You're wasting time and in the States time is everything. Wake up!
Not to mention my Bridge randomly crashes when I choose to open a PSD file in Photoshop which I had to tell it to start using the new CC(2014), I resolved the issue only to find this.

Re-Editing - Soundbooth Option Grayed Out!

I can initialy edit an a/v file from the timeline with the right-click edit in soundbooth. However, if I want to re-edit it, the option is now grayed out.
Does snyone else have this problem?! Apparently it's a known bug and the work around is meant to be unlinking the A/V file. But this doesn't work either !
Any solutions please ?!

I am having the same trouble with Adobe Premier Pro CS5. I select the clip that I previously edited in SoundBooth but now the Edit in Soundbooth is grayed out. I do not understand the previous solution or work around. Please calrify.
