Edit XMP-tags for MP3

Hello
Not sure if this is the right forum but I give it a try...   I have used XMP for keyword-tagging a big collection of recordings (MP3)  in Adobe Bridge. Unfortunatley the CreateDate-tag is wrong and I would  like to modify the tags. For image or video there are several softwares availible to edit XMP-tags (like  Exiftool and MetadataTouch) but for MP3 I haven't found anything.   Is there any external software (Windows) availible for editing  XMP-datetags in audio files?

Not sure how many other people noticed, but iTunes 8 removed the ID3 tag "set version" feature from the "Advanced" menu. Part of the whole simplification push, I guess.
My DJ software (Traktor) doesn't like certain ID3 versions, so I sometimes need to batch change tags to ID3 v2.3. I.e. I don't need to edit the song metadata -- iTunes is great for that. I just need to batch change the tag version to ID3 v2.3.
I guess this is a bit arcane- any suggestions?

  • Problem Editing HEAD tag for Facebook Open Graph

In order for pages to play nice with some of the new Facebook features they can add meta tag content to identify the page as a specific "object" in the Facebook Graph.
The problem is they ask you to add some namespace information as an attribute in the head tag and when I try to put anything in the actual tag itself I get an error:
Header must contain <head> and </head> tags.
I'm attempting to make the head tag look something like this:
    <head prefix="og: http://ogp.me/ns# fb: http://ogp.me/ns/fb# my_fb_app: http://ogp.me/ns/fb/my_fb_app#">
I have an end tag for head, I just thing the validation fails if you put anything in the head tag itself.
    Any ideas?

<tt>prefix</tt> is not an HTML atttribute: it is part of RDF (which I haven't got my head round at all). However I get the same error on apex.oracle.com using
<head class="foo"><tt>class</tt> is one of the HTML global attributes permitted on the <a href="<tt>head</tt> element, so this is definitely a parsing bug in APEX.
    Couple of possible workarounds:
<li>In the examples in RDFa spec the <tt>prefix</tt> occurs in the <tt>html</tt> element, which APEX 4.1 will permit.
<li>Add the <tt>prefix</tt> to the <tt>head</tt> element using a Dynamic Action/JavaScript on page load.
You might try these and see whether they are compatible with whatever Facebook is doing.
Please include the following information when posting a question (especially if it might be a bug):
    <li>Full APEX version
    <li>Full DB/version/edition/host OS
<li>Web server architecture (EPG, OHS or APEX listener/host OS)
    <li>Browser(s) and version(s) used

  • How do i edit id3 tags for all mp3s in a folder?

If I have a folder of mp3s, how do I set all of their id3 album tags to the same album? For instance, in Windows you can just select all of the files and then right click and go to Properties where any tags you edit get applied to each of the files. I'd prefer to do it all in Finder, but if there's some way through iTunes, or another app, I'd be glad to hear about it.

That's the problem though, the tracks aren't in the same album according to their current id3 tags.

  • Cannot edit ID3 tags for newly added tracks

I want to stress: this is for iTunes 10.5 b2 but I want to make sure this gets out there so this issue can be resolved sooner rather than later since it's somewhat ESSENTIAL for iTunes to actually function properly.
But I upgraded to b2 from b1 today and now anytime I add any new mp3 files I cannot edit the ID3 tags - in fact I go to edit them and all the options are greyed out...
Anything added PRIOR to the upgrade is editable it's just anything I add since the upgrade. I've tried restarting the app and it still is locked.
Anyone have any suggestions? Has anyone else seen this?

Since iTunes 10.5 is development release only and you as a developer agreed to not discuss it in accordance with your non-disclosure agreement, you should post the question over here -> http://www.developer.apple.com

  • How to edit head tag for fullscreen presentation

Hello! I'm making a presentation and as such I would like to open fullscreen in safari. I have read some posts in various places suggesting the use of <meta name="apple-mobile-web-app-capable" content="yes"> , but for that I have to include the code in the <head> section of the html, and I can't find the way to edit the head within Edge Animate. I tryed editing Edge's resulting .html file, but when I do it manually then my project within Edge gives me errors.
1- How can I insert, within Edge, elements in the head section of the html file?
2- Does anyone knows how can I open a fullscreen (chrome-less, toolbar-less) html5 presentation on an iPad 2?
    Thanks a lot!

    Hello,
You could add it, as you did, in the final html-file if you are happy with the content and won't need Animate anymore for the specific element you've created. I've only used or rather tried out this app for a couple of days now but that is how I use it.
    Since jQuery is included you could try this;
    $('head').append("<meta name='apple-web-app-capable' content='yes'>") ;
view the code in 'window -> code' up in the right corner press 'View full code' skimm trough the code and there is a line that says "...Paste code here bla..."
    Hope it helps.

  • Editing XMP metadata in Bridge for checked-out files?

Our custom connector does not implement the WRITE_XMP_METADATA Capability because we do not want to change the XMP of a file in our DAM system without checking in a new file version.
However, when a file is checked out through Adobe Drive, we would expect to be able to edit its XMP metadata in Bridge just like we can for local files.
It looks like this is still not possible with Adobe Drive 3, i.e. if your connector does not implement the WRITE_XMP_METADATA Capability you cannot edit XMP for checked out files either.
It seems weird that you can edit XMP metadata for checked out files with regular CS applications but not with Bridge. Is this something that is expected to be fixed in a future version?
    Thanks

In our design, editing XMP data in Bridge and in regular CS applications is different, the former one will be routed to SetXMPHandler in you connector, in the latter case, CS applications take the normal file writting ways to embed XMP data in the file content.
The purpose of this design is to offer similar user experience for normal users when they edit XMP data for AD assets and local file assets, they don't need to check-out files first.
To address your issue, I think you can add some codes in SetXMPHandler to auto check-out files before real XMP operation, and check-in them before exiting the handler
We will consider to make some enhancements for this part, that's, to allow editng XMP data for the checked-out files in Br, in the next release, thanks for this advice.

  • Edit (modify or change) MP3 tag with iTunes

    Hi All!
Someone knows how can i change, modify or edit the mp3 tag with iTunes 6? Is it possible?
If it isn't possible, do you know some plug-in for iTunes (or external program) that allow me to change mp3 tag of a file(s)?
    tnx a lot

right-click on the entry in iTunes and select "Get Info". The "Summary" tab tells you a little about the file, while the other tabs (Info, Options, etc.) let you edit ID3 tags supported and used by iTunes.

  • Workflow from marker to tags in mp3 for audioplayer

I am producing a audiofile with appr. 30 short tasks of 1-3 minutes for the preparation of an examination..
My listeners will hear that file on their mp3 player, PC etc.
I am producing each task individual and setting a marker.
How can I get in the later process from that marker a tag to let the listener make a quick rewind the audiofile to the next marker?
Or go back to the start of that task.
    thanks, adob1948

You're going to be a bit stuffed, I'm afraid. MP3 as a format doesn't support markers in its metadata at all. If you want to have markers in audio, then currently the only easy solution is to use the wav format - which supports markers as an appendage to the audio file, and that's what Audition does.
If you want to do something similar for MP3 files, then the only way that I'm aware of is to present each section as a separate file, probably in a numbered sequence.

when i search for mp3 files spotlight shows id3 tags instead of filenames as it used to do !!! I DONT want that .. how can i disable it !!!!!???????

Sorry, my handful of mp3's had the file name as the id3 tag name.
So, I am seeing the same thing as you.
Oddly, a while back I was trying to help someone out in Mountain Lion that wanted to see the id3 tags in the Finder.
It's all a bit silly. They should have added columns instead or changing it to tag song name.
They are transitioning to having everything reflect the content and not the file system, so this may not be reversible.

  • ITunes tags are not the same as the actual mp3 tags for some songs

The other day I noticed that some of the names for songs in my iTunes library had changed from the correct names to the file name (which was Artist - Name) but the rest of the tags (album, genre, ect.) for those tracks remained unchanged in iTunes. I went back and checked the details of the messed up songs in windows explorer and noticed that all of the tag information for those songs is now gone. Only one out of 30 or so songs seems to have this problem, and it appears to have happened at random. I will have an entire albums that have no problem, except one random song that will have its tags removed, despite the fact that it was added to the computer and to iTunes in the exact same way as the rest of the tracks in the album.
When I update the title (or any field) in iTunes it updates it in the actual id3 tag, but the other tag info is still missing. So far, the only way I have found to fix all of the missing info would be to change all of the tag information for every single tag for every single messed up song (which is ~800) and then change them back. I tried selecting the file and using get info without changing the tags but it didn't apply them to the actual tags.
Is there any way to sync the tags that show up in iTunes to the actual files tags?

I find the best way to do this is to right click on the song in iTunes and convert then select convert ID3 tags to V1.1 this usually completes the tag and adds all the missing info, provided it is in iTunes corectly.
Were these songs you Dled or ripped form a cd directly?

  • [Solved] Children-friendly interface for MP3 library ?

    Hi there,
this is not really a problem posting but more a usage question.
My little-one (8 years old) likes to listen to audio plays a lot. Since I have stored nearly all of them on my PC as MP3 files and burning them as audio CDs is both a waste of CD-Rs as well as quite time intense I have come to the conclusion that a PC-based "MP3 station" for her might be the best approach for both giving her the option to listen to all her audio plays as well as saving dad from burning tons of MP3 files to CD-R
Similar to my music the audio plays are organized a folder structure like this:
    Audioplay series -> episode
The audioplay itself consists either of one ore multiple MP3 files plus a playlist.m3u in each folder.
I am looking for some sort of fullscreen player which provides a similar library view like the video part of XBMC does. Something which simply allows to hop up and down through the folders of the MP3 audioplay library an only lists the M3U and MP3 files.
Since I mostly used SMPlayer, VLC and XMBC for my playbacks I have no experiences with other players.
Is there a media-player which is more geared towards such purposes ? May be Amarok ? I am also not shure how players similar to Songbird (which is Windows / Mac-only) fit into the equation.
Another possible problem: Some of those files might not have valid ID3 tags since I recorded a lot of old audioplays from tape. So relying on ID3 tags for playback is not very solid.
My little-one is well able to maneuver with a file manager but a simplified interface would be nice. Think about DAF rather than WAF
    (DAF = daughter acceptance factor).
    Thanks for any input !
    -D$
P.S.: I am skilled enough to hack together some scripts if required and do not really rely on ready-to-use tools. So if anyone has a different idea how (e.g. having multiple website with links to each of the M3U files) I would be more than happy to hear them.

Just throwing this out there, but Banshee/Exaile looks kinda like iTunes on windows, and SongBird for gnome looks a lot like iTunes for windows. For KDE amarok was really well laid out with lots of features, kinda reminded me of a supped up windows media player. and XMMs reminded me a lot of winamp. These of course are with the basic layouts.
    Websites:
    http://www.exaile.org/
    http://banshee.fm/
    http://amarok.kde.org/
    http://legacy.xmms2.org/
They most likely offer good skins on their websites Also really like their lyrics plugin so you can view the lyrics while you listen to the song.
Another cool one to check out would be googles music player:

  • Whats most common naming convention for MP3s (what does iTunes store use?)

Trying to organise all my tags and music.
I am using iTunes and some other tag (tag%rename) WMP etc, as some seem to not show all the tgs of other programs)
However what is the generalised, most common naming convention for MP3 files?
ie. track no, Album, artist etc.
Also Ive never bought music from iTunes store yet, only got podcasts and stuff, but when you do , what is the filename convention they use please?
    cheers
    Mac OS X (10.5) iMac 20" 2Ghz (1st ever Mac Comp)

iTunes has no automatic tag look up function for anything other than CDs (through GraceNote). I import a lot of mp3s (legally obtained) that need tweaking. Also, GraceNote doesn't provide lyrics. If I just need to edit a couple of tracks, the iTunes interface is fine. But for bulk adding of artwork or searching for release dates or lyrics, I use MpFreaker. I find it works best if you do small batches and keep an eye on what it comes up with. Sometimes, well, rarely, it's way off base.
There may be better utilities out there but MpFreaker was recommended to me by someone I trust who spends a lot of time reviewing such things and it works for me so I haven't looked for anything else. You might find more reviews of other software at www.ilounge.com
    Best of luck.

  • Artwork, podcast notes and editing ID3 tags

    Hello
I'm trying to get to a point where information about the content of my show appears on the iPod, in iTunes and any other podcatching application/mp3 player. In my case that would be a artist/track listing of the music featured on my podcast.
I tried editing the ID3 tags under the 'media' tab in Libsyn by inserting the artist/track listing into the comments box but that didn't work. I then read about how to edit the ID3 tags using iTunes but that seemed to refer to editing the tags in a dowloaded podcast and not the tags on a podcast uploaded to Libsyn's server.
So, how do I edit my ID3 tags to achieve the results I'm looking for?
Oh.....and I'm also trying to do that thing where my logo will appear in iTunes and on an iPod when the podcast is playing but I'm not having much luck there either. I can't get the logo to appear in my iPod at all. I'm able to get it to appear in the flip section at the top of iTunes but shouldn't it also be in the bottom left hand corner of the iTunes window?
    Thanks
    Neil

When you edit the ID3 tags in iTunes, the information is stored in the file. When this file is subsequently uploaded to a server, and then downloaded by a user, the tags carry through and are available to the user's iTunes/iPod. So you need to use iTunes to add whatever ID3 tags you want before uploading your file.
    Hope this helps,
    Greg.

  • How do you force itunes comments to ID3 tags in MP3 files?

I have comments all throughout itunes. The mp3 files do not have those comments in the ID3 info.
How do you force itunes comments to write out to ID3 tags in MP3 files?
The folder and files all have write permission.

Yeah, don't do that, you probably also degrade the sound quality... If you've confirmed it is something odd with multiple tags try this.
Select a group of mp3 files (You might want to start with a smart playlist so you don't mess with any other format)
Right-click and use Convert ID3 Tags > None (may need to repeat this step if multiple tags)
Then right-click and use Convert ID3 Tags > v2.3 (v2.4 support still patchy from various accounts)
Downside is that it will lose any embedded artwork, but it should preserve all other meta-data, both tag-based and stored within the library itself.
In fact, if you use my CreateFolderArt script before and after updating the tags it should archive any artwork as a local Folder.jpg image for each album and then reinsert that image on the subsequent run... Check it out on a single album first. If it doesn't work as expected let me know and I'll tweak the script to achieve this end.
