Editable forms in Hebrew become empty on Windows XP

We have a PDF with editbale forms in Hebrew which should be used on WindowsXP. The problem is that after installing the extended language support, the forms look empty and the typing in them in not seen! If we remove the extended support for the Hebrew, the forms can be seen, but are not editable. This happens with every Reader version that I tried from 8 to 11.
On Windows7 and Server 2008 there is no problem. However, the end user is using Windows XP. Any help will be highly appreciated.
Thanks,
Eran

Hi,
Unfortunetly, I am not allowed to share the document as it contains customer's sensitive information. Embeded is the screen capture of how it looks in Acrobat 11. In older acrobat versions, even the rectangles do not show anymore.

  • SharePoint 2013 July 2014 CU - People Picker fields empty in Edit forms

    After applying the July 2014 CU for SharePoint server, I discovered that Person or Group (People Picker) fields are not populated with server values in list item Edit forms.  However, the field values can be viewed in list views
    and in Display forms.  I examined the client side code and determined that field data is not being returned from the server for Edit forms.
    In a test environment, I uninstalled SharePoint 2013, reinstalled SP 2013 with SP1 and the issue went away.  I then applied the May 2014, June 2014, and July 2014 CUs.  The issue did not exist after applying the May and June CUs.  It
    did exist after applying the July 2014 CU.

    There is a workaround for this issue.  It's a little convoluted, but hey, it's SharePoint.  First, you must have a list that has at least one entry in it.
     To begin with, you must first
    have a list with at least one item in the list.
    Next you edit the item with a role that has at least Design privilege, but don't save your changes.
    Instead you Edit the page so you can then edit that web part.  You can edit the page by clicking on the cog icon and selecting Edit Page
    Edit the web part itself
    Under “Miscellaneous” section on the just exposed web part window, select "Server Render (Server Render)" in the drop down labeled “CSR Render Mode
    Click on “Apply” button within the web part
    Save
    I was told also the Sept CU would fix the issue but it is under review and to wait until the first of October.  Incidentally we found that if you put the entire list into Quick Edit mode, the issue does
    not appear.
    I hope this helps someone.

  • My edit form based on my report is empty  :-(

    Hello
    I have following problem, have a interactive report on my page.
    On my list of data I have on my left side the generally edit button.
    If I click that button, I change to the edit page with the form fields like in the table to edit that record.
    BUT since I changed some on this report like a join in my sql to show data instead of the f-key,
    the edit form is empty.
    So if I click the edit button on the record, and change to my edit form the form is empty.
    but the form should filled out with the data of the record, but it isn´t.
    Have anybody an idea?

    Hi markus,
    Your problem seems the link has not been done properly. First check the table names in your database and query. If they are ok go to the edit page and click on report to edit the attributes.
    Normally PK provides the link to edit records. click on the edit image and go down to the column link. Make sure you have all the attributes selected properly to fetch rows.
    in the link text field: <img src="#IMAGE_PREFIX#edit-white.gif" alt="Edit"> or can choose different one
    Target: page in this application should be selected and Page: 1(your page number)
    Item 1: P1_EMP_ID (type the field you want to fetch) and value : #EMP_ID#
    try again now.
    Hope this will help.
    Thanks,

  • Acrobat X keeps crashing in Edit Forms mode

    Hi!
    I use Acrobat primarily to edit forms I made before I started using LiveCycle.  I have recently used the adobe cleaner and reinstalled all of CS.5 (because I couldn't figure out how to uninstall Acrobat alone), I am on Windows XP 64 bit--- Acrobat stopped crashing for a few days after the reinstall, now it's crashing when I try to edit form fields.  I have a deadline to meet for some form edits... please help?
    Many thanks,
    Laura

    Hi again,
    I tried Adobe's help/customer support/chat thing to try to find out why this is happening, and the answer I received was that I had to rebuild my 11-page, 665-field form from scratch. Yikes!  All my fields are "hand-made", or customized from "detect form fields": there's no quickie way to recreate them.
    The person I spoke with said the problem was that the underlying page layout had originally been built in aiCS3 (though I've edited it in CS5.5 since), and so it was too old to use in Acrobat anymore.
    It's puzzling- I had been able to make my layout edits in ai, then field edits in Acrobat, up until a couple of weeks ago.
    I'm growing concerned that all my forms will become obsolete after a couple of years.  That's scary for a company, to have to have all its custom-built and branded forms rebuilt from scratch every year and half or so.
    Am I understanding this correctly?
    Thanks for any help or information,
    Laura

  • Forms 10g installed and running on Windows Vista

    <font color=0000FF>Update 12-Dec-2008: </font>Oracle has published NOTE 559067.1 -- How to Install Developer Suite 10.1.2.0.2 - hence 10.1.2.3 - on Windows Vista, 24-OCT-2008 with some installation help.
    <font color=0000FF>Update 07-July-2008: </font> Added text at the bottom showing how to find patchsets for Forms 10g.
    <font color=0000FF>Update 29-May-2008: </font> This thread was started in November, 2007.  In January, 2008, Oracle released Patch 3 for Forms 10g, which makes Forms 10g compatible with Windows Vista.  As time permits I'll try to keep the information in this post up to date.   Updated information will be inserted <font color=0000FF>as blue text.
    </font>
    <font color=0000FF>Original message begins here:</font>
    This is a second thread I am posting to outline the steps I have used to install Forms on a Windows Vista Home Basic laptop.   The other thread describes installing Forms 6i:
          Forms 6i installed and running on Windows Vista
    Please read through the initial part of that post for the background.  I realize Oracle has not certified Forms 10g to run on Vista, but the time has come for my associates and I to upgrade our old computers to new desktop/laptop platforms, and I would hate to acquire XP machines and be stuck with them for the next 5 years.  <font color=0000FF>(Note: Since first posting this message, Oracle has certified Forms 10g Patch 3 (version 10.1.2.3.0) to run on Vista)</font>  So after another person informed me that he had Forms installed and running on Vista, I went ahead and bought one.  I found that as long as I set the compatibility mode to run Forms programs as Windows XP (and a few other changes), Forms 6i and 10g run quite satisfactorily.
    <font color=0000FF>Update 29-Jan-2008: </font> Unfortunately, it turns out that the Forms 10g Builder running on Vista <font color=0000FF>had</font> a major flaw:   If you try to develop a form, the Builder will crash if you try to compile a procedure that calls another procedure in the form that has errors.  The problem is reported and described in this thread:  Error compiling a form under Vista
    <font color=0000FF>Update 12-Mar-2008: </font> Installing Patch 3 on Vista does not help with this problem -- the Builder still crashes in the same situation.
    <font color=0000FF>Update 25-July-2008: </font> Applying Patch 7047034 has corrected the problem.   See this link within this thread:   Forms 10g: Installing Patch 7047034 on Windows Vista
    Webutil note:  I am stuck in a Forms 6i client/server world, so all my forms must run in that environment.   Therefore I have not used any Webutil software, and I do not know whether that part will run under Vista.
    Internet Explorer note:  On Windows Vista, IE CANNOT be used to run the Web Forms runtime.  It crashes immediately when you try to run a form.  Instead, I can use either Firefox (Firefox 2, Firefox 3.0 Crashes with Forms 10g) or Netscape, as long as they are set to disable java.  <font color=0000FF>[ Correction:   IE7 on Vista now runs the Forms 10g forms.   You just need to add "?config=jpi" to the browser URL when starting the Web Forms session.   More IE/Vista info: [url=http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=642973]Vista JInitiator Problem ]</font>

    The steps below are those I followed to install Forms 10g (version 10.1.2.0.2)
    I.  Preliminary system changes in Windows
    When I started installing, I got the following error message:    Install has encountered an error while
        attempting to verify your virtual memory settings.
        Please verify that the sum of the initial sizes of
        the paging files is at least 256 MB.To fix this:  Go to Control Panel, System and Maintenance, View amount of RAM and processor speed (under "System"),
    Advanced system settings (in left "Tasks" column), Advanced tab, Settings (under "performance"), Advanced tab:
    Virtual Memory shows a "Total paging file size for all drives: 2337MB.
    Click "change", Uncheck "Automatically manage paging file size for all drives"
    Click "custom size:", set Initial size to: 2048, Max to 4096
    Click set button, then OK, get message:The changes you have made require you to restart your computer before
       they can take effect.Restart the computer.
    II.  Installing Forms 10g
    1.  Download two files from Oracle:
        ds_windows_x86_101202_disk1.zip (626,122,752 bytes)
        ds_windows_x86_101202_disk2.zip (236,880,881 bytes)
    2a.  Before extracting, it is a good idea to shut down any virus protection software.  It can sometimes prevent some files from being created.
    2b.  Extract both into the C:\oracle directory, as disk1 and disk2.
    3.  Using Windows Explorer, change the properties of setup.exe in the C:\oracle\disk1 folder.  (In windows explorer, right click, properties, Compatibility tab.)   Change the compatibility to run as Windows XP (Service Pack 2).
    4.  Right click setup.exe and click "Run as administrator"
    5.  Select "Installation type" = Complete (1.11 GB)
    6.  Received this message:Windows Firewall has blocked this program from
    accepting incoming network connections.  If you
    unblock this program, it will be unblocked on all
    public networks that you connect to.
    C:\users\steve\appdata\local\temp\orainstall...
      2007-10-29_11-59-08am\jre\1.4.2\bin\javaw.exeI clicked "Unblock"
    7.  Received this message:  "Provide outgoing mail server information"  I entered the smtp mail server that I use.
    8.  A summary screen displayed showing 274 products under New Installations.
    I clicked the Install button.
    9.   Received this message:  You can find a log of this install session at:
    C:\Program Files\Oracle\Inventory\logs\installActions2007.....log
    10.  The installation completed.  Installed products shows Forms 10.1.2.0.2
    III.  After the install completed
    1.  Create a shortcut to the Forms 10 Builder on the Desktop.
    On the shortcut line, after the .exe, add *userid=userxxx/pwxxx@orcl* so Builder automatically logs into 10g database.  If you do step 4 below (creating an easily-accessible folder to use for your forms) change the "Start in" path on the shortcut so it points to that folder.  Otherwise, Forms Builder will not find referenced objects and PLL libraries when it opens a form.  Also do the same on the Start, All Programs shortcut for the Forms Builder.
    Edit:  After applying Patch 3, the following steps are not necessary.
    Set its compatibility to Windows XP.
    Set checkbox: "Run this program as as an administrator."  (Without this, FormBuilder will NOT open a PLL library.)
    Click the "Show settings for all users" and change values there.
    2.  Copy "Start OC4J Instance" icon to desktop.
    Set its compatibility to Windows XP.
    The first time it runs, I got a Windows popup to unblock program named Java.  I clicked "Unblock".
    3.  tnsnames.ora:
    Rename C:\oracle\DevSuiteHome_1\network\admin\tnsnames.ora
    to:  tnsnames_orig.ora
    If you created a tnsnames.ora file for Forms 6i, just copy it to the path above.  If not, do this:
    Create a new tnsnames.ora file, copying entries old file on my old laptop, which contains all the connections I use.
    Delete the old laptop entry, replace with new entry for the new local ORCL connection on new laptop from tnsnames file renamed from the c:\oracle\... ...\10.2.0\db_1\ path.
    4.  Optional:  Create an easily accessible folder to store fmb files:
    C:\users\steve\.1\fmb10
    You don't really want to keep drilling into C:\oracle\DevSuiteHome_1\forms, and then find your .fmb file among the several dozen oracle-supplied files.
    To create a folder named .1, you have to open a CMD.exe (Windows DOS) window, and type the Make Directory command:
    MD .1
    That will create the folder within the current directory -- mine defaults to C:\users\steve
    Note:  If you also need to use Forms 6i like me, DO NOT EVER open a .fmb file in the Forms 10 Builder from the Forms 6i folder.  If you compile it, or even worse, save the .fmb, Forms 6i *cannot ever* access the file.  Instead, always use the File Manager (Windows Explorer) to copy the fmb from the fmb6 folder into the fmb10 location.
    5.  Change the Forms 10g Default.env file using a text editor.
    This file replaces all the settings originally written to the Windows Registry (GREAT idea, Oracle!  I hate the registry.)  No more Regedit.  The default.env file is located at: (DevSuiteHome_1 path)\forms\server\default.env
    Locate line with:  FORMS_PATH= and add:
        ;C:\users\steve\.1\fmb10
    Add a new line:
    FORMS_MMAP=FALSE
    The above allows compiling an fmx while the form is running.
    Add a new line:
    FORMS_ROWLOCK_OPTIMIZATION=FALSE
    (This fixes Oracle bug number 3949854, which prevents automatic skipping if the same value is typed over another value. TAR 4806199.993 Automatic Skip failure...)  See bug 4068896
    Add a new Line:
    FORMS_RESTRICT_ENTER_QUERY=False
    This allows use of Query-Where window in enter query, after entering a colon in any input field.  Without this, Forms returns FRM-40367: Invalid criteria in field nnn in example record.  Oracle shut it down to prevent "sql injection" attacks.
    6.  Jiniator setup:
    Run file jinit.exe in C:\oracle\DevSuiteHime_1\jinit\jinit.exe
    It installs Jinitiator 1.3.1.22.
    I installed it in C:\oracle\JInitiator 1.3.1.22\
    For Firefox, make sure a copy of file \bin\NPJinit13122.dll resides in   C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\plugins.
    For Netscape, the path is:  C:\Program Files\Netscape\Navigator 9\plugins
    7.   Browser settings
    See the note above about using Firefox 2 and not Firefox 3!
    In Firefox 2 go to:  Tools-> Options-> Content
    Uncheck the "Enable Java" checkbox
    --Firefox terminates if this is not done!
    Note:  After my system automatically installed updates to either java or Firefox, re-check the "Enable Java" setting.  I am suspicious that one of these installs re-enables java in the browser.
    Also note:  some web sites cannot display properly if java is disabled.  Example:  U.S. time website: http://www.time.gov   Use Internet Explorer to view these.
    In Netscape make the same changes as Firefox.  Without disabling java, it also terminates when you try to run a form.
    Creating a url to use in the browser:
    Try this:
        http://127.0.0.1:8889/forms/frmservlet
    If it does not work, change the 8889 port number as follows:
    Open file:  C:\oracle\DevSuiteHome_1\install\portlist.ini
    Note the number in line:
    Oracle Developer Suite HTTP port = 8889
    Use the number as the port number.
    You can also change the 127.0.0.1 to the computer name:
    Control Panel, System and Maintenance, See the name of this computer (under "System").  Mine is "steve-PC"
    So the alternate URL is:     http://steve-PC:8889/forms/frmservlet
    To try out the URL, start the OC4J instance set up above.  Then start either Netscape or Firefox, and enter the URL.  You should get a welcome screen.
    If the above URL works, start up the Forms Builder, and open Edit, Preferences.  On the General tab, uncheck the "Build before running" check box (optional).  On the Runtime tab, set the "Application Server URL to the url above.
    To run a real form, add this to the URL after frmservlet, (with no spaces):
        ?form={formname}&userid={userxxx}/{passwordyyy}@{connect-string}
    but replace the parts in curly braces with the appropriate values.  Example:
        http://127.0.0.1:8889/forms/frmservlet?form=ABC&userid=abc123/zyx@orcl
    Setting up Forms Builder to directly run a form in the browser:
    Run the Forms Builder.  Go to Edit, Preferences, Runtime tab.
    Set the Application Server URL to:
        http://127.0.0.1:8889/forms/frmservlet
    (or use whatever URL string you developed above)
    Set the Web Browser Location to:
        "C:\Program Files\Netscape\Navigator 9\navigator.exe"
    (or an equivalent to run the Firefox browser).
    8.  FORMSWEB.CFG file changes
    The file is located at:
    C:\ORA_DS_101202\DevSuiteHome_1\forms\server\formsweb.cfg
    I changed the following two lines in the file, but these are my personal preferences:
    separateFrame=true
    lookandfeel=Generic
    9.  FMRWEB.RES file changes
    For Oracle help:  Enabling Key Mappings
    The file fmrweb.res defines actions (triggers that run) when a function key is pressed while running Forms.  The one released has unix-style key mapping, but I prefer keys originally mapped for Windows PC Forms users. There is a fmrpcweb.res in the same folder that can be renamed to fmrweb.res.
    In the C:\oracle\DevSuiteHome_1\forms path, I renamed fmrweb.res to fmrweb_orig.res.
    I have a file that I prefer to use, so I put it into the folder as fmrweb.res. The contents are listed below. It is organized so the most important keys are listed alphabetically at the top (URFD column is the sort column), followed by a group of less-important keys.  These are keys that are available to users, but they either would not use, or are disabled within most forms.  The URFD column in the second set starts with a hex A0 character, which is a high-order space, so collates after normal alphabetic characters.  (Note: If you want to copy the text below and use it, the hex A0 character has been changed by the forum software to a space. So you would need to use a text editor with hexadecimal character capabilities to replace the space with the original character. )
    My file has special keys defined for F2 (I use it for a debugging Key-F2 trigger in my forms), and a "Cursor to Home" F12 function. All the rest are pretty much the same as in the released fmrpcweb.res file, only mine are organized alphabetically on the URFD column.
    The Web Forms fmrweb.res file is editable using any programming editor (NOT MS Word!!!). The old Client/Server key mapping file, fmrusw.res, could only be changed using the Oracle Terminal program (and it is a pain to use).
    Here is the main part of my fmrweb.res file:#

    I followed your instructions and installed Developer Suite 10G on Windows Vista Home Premium edition. I have Oracle 11G DB running on the same machine.
    Two points, Steve:
    1. When I tried to set the maximum virtual memory to 6110 an error message displayed from Windows and told me that I can't set the maximum virtual memory to more than 4096. I set it to 4090 and it worked and I got nothing wrong during the installation process.

After installing JInitiator and disabling Java on Firefox I called the http://127.0.0.1:8889/forms/frmservlet page and everything seemed to be OK because the Oracle Forms Services logo appeared and then a successful installation message appeared , but as I clicked (ok) to continue a gray screen appeared inside the browser (like the one displayed when you try to run a Java applet inside a browser) and then I wait to death till something appears but sadly nothing. I just get a blank gray screen inside my Firefox browser.
    Do you have any idea what to do to solve the problem?

  • How to edit multiple regions in one Piano Roll window

    I edit multiple regions in one Piano Roll window at the same time. (It is very handy way of editing especially in huge orchestra projects.)
    I can see midi contents of all selected regions in Piano Roll at the same time.
    1) But how to choose certain one region of many selected to edit it?
    2) And how to edit all at once?
    Hope the questions are clear enough.
    Thanks.
    Dmitriy.
    iMac (27-inch, Mid 2011) 2,7 GHz Intel Core i5. 16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3.
    OS X 10.10.2

    First of all, the Piano Roll has two mechansim, of what it is displaying.
    Selected Track: This displays all the Regions that you select in the Tracks Window
    One Track: Selecting one Region in the Track Area displays all the Regions of tha tTrack in the Piano Roll. If you select multiple Regions in the Tracks Window, then the last selected Regions counts.
    Whatever Regions are now displayed in the Piano Roll Editor can be edited. Select the MIDI Events and apply the command.
    You can also apply edits directly to the selected Regions in the Tracks Window.
    I explain all those little details in my graphically enhanced manuals ("Logic Pro X - How it Works")
    One thing to be clear about:
    Tracks Window: Any edit is applied to the selected Regions
    Piano Roll Editor: Ay edit is applied to the selected Events
    Hope that helps

  • Post Migration from SP2010 -Attach File Button not working in any list new/edit forms

    Hi,
    We have migrated the SharePoint 2010 farm to Sharepoint 2013 on last saturday and we are noticing an interesting issue after the migration .
    On any custom list on any web application ,When we create a new item,if we click on attach file button in the ribbon,nothing shows up on the screen.
    In the browser Dev Tools its showing an error message as "Cannot read Property style of null".
    This is happening on a javascript (form.debug.js) on line No : 5276
    (document.getElementById("partAttachment")).style.display = "block";
    There is no element rendered in html with id "partAttachment",which is causing this error to happen.
    Solutions tried are
    1) Modified the List Advanced Settings to disable and enable the attachments ,which did not work
    2) Ran the Sharepoint Configuration wizard which did not fix
    3)Tried reset the site definition for all pages in the site from site settings
    4) Deactivated and activated all the activated features in the site collection
    Its an OOB List New Form,no customizations has been done.
    Similar error occurring with List Edit form as well
     when you click on the List Item in the List default view when you navigate to the list and when you click on attach file,a popup dialog to upload attachments appearing,However its not working when you
    navigate into the list item and tried to upload attachment.
    Please help if any Solutions / thoughts

  • Editable Form crashes

    I have Acrobat 9 Pro Extended and Windows 7. Trying to create an editable form. I use the Wizard, save it, close editing, distribute form as a hard copy for later emailing. It errors with no error code. Please help. Thank you so much.

    This is a known issue when the file is filled-in in Preview instead of in Adobe Reader.

  • I need to substitute the default font (times roman) in my editable form fields with a san serif...

    I am making a PDF with editable form fields out of InDesign CS6. When I make the interactive PDF, the font, Helvetica Neue  is being substituted with the default font, Times Roman. The client has provided me with last years PDF which has a nice San Serif for the editable fields. I need to change the font either to Helvetica Neue, or at least to a nice San Serif common system font. I have Acrobat X.
    Thanks in advance!!

    I called a friend of mine who walked me through this so I will post the instructions for anyone else who may be having this problem...
    1. Open the PDF with the form fields in a recent version of Acrobat.
    2. Click on the Toolls tab.
    3. Under Forms, click Edit.
    4. Now you will see your fields listed under "Field" > "Sort by"...  "Text Field 1"...  etc.
    5. Holding "control" click where it says "Text Field 1" and some options will pop up.
    6. Click on "Properties".
    7. A "Text Fields Properties" window will pop up.
    8. Click on the "Appearance" tab.
    9. Here you can change your fonts and font sizes.
    Good luck!

  • Get approval status in edit form

    Is there an easy way to retrieve item approval status (moderationStatus) inside the edit form? During display of edit form I need to know wheather the currently edited item was approved or not. I see that the information is not reflected in a hidden column
    or else. I have the following ideas:
    Custom flag column that indicates if the item was approved.
    Get the current item via js rest call and check OData__ModerationStatus.
    I just want to know if there is an easier way to get the moderationStatus of the item I am editing.
    Thank you!

    Hi Eng,
    As we all know, the approval status column is a hidden column in SharePoint and it cannot be edited manually, so there is no OOB way to display the column value in item edit form.
    The easiest way is to use code to get the current item and then display the _ModerationStatus value in your Edit Item form.
    Here is the code example:
    <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">
    ExecuteOrDelayUntilScriptLoaded(runCode, 'sp.js');
    function runCode() {
    var value1=window.location.href.indexOf("?")+4;
    var value2=window.location.href.indexOf("&");
    var url=window.location.href;
    var itemId=url.substring(value1,value2);
    var clientContext = new SP.ClientContext();
    var targetList = clientContext.get_web().get_lists().getByTitle('Case Date');
    targetListItem = targetList.getItemById(itemId);
    clientContext.load(targetListItem, '_ModerationStatus');
    clientContext.executeQueryAsync(Function.createDelegate(this, this.onQuerySucceeded), Function.createDelegate(this, this.onQueryFailed));
    function onQuerySucceeded() {
    var status=targetListItem.get_item('_ModerationStatus');
    switch(status) {
    case 0:
    alert("Approved");
    break;
    case 1:
    alert("Rejected");
    break;
    case 2:
    alert("Pending");
    break;
    case 3:
    alert("Draft");
    break;
    function onQueryFailed(sender, args) {
    alert('Request failed. \nError: ' + args.get_message() + '\nStackTrace: ' + args.get_stackTrace());
    </script>
    You can also take a look at the link below about changing the Approval Status column in Edit item form:
    http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/718575/Change-of-Approval-Status-in-SharePoint-Edit-Form
    Best regards.

  • The website can not be displayed Forms 10.1.2.3 / IE8 / Windows 7

    Hi,
    first the problem description:
    I run a Forms-web application from a shortcut on the desktop.
    For example:
    "C: \ Program Files (x86) \ Internet Explorer \ iexplore.exe" "http://k1r.bf.ia:7778/forms/frmservlet?config=sdb_Java"
    The resolution is a DNS server. Even if I use the IP Address, I have the same problem:
    In IE appears
    *"The website can not be displayed"*
    when I press F5 it runs all and the page is displayed. why ???????
    Forms 10.1.2.3
    Client Windows 7 32Bit
    IE 8.0.7600
    Java 1.6.0_23

    basehtml          = d:/orabase/oas/forms/webutil/server/webutiljpi.htm

    Since it works fine with Firefox 3.6.13,
    someone can help me ?
    Alfred

    I looked at our code and this is what we do to show any URL (like a Reports PDF or another website) in a new browser window from Forms.
    We've implemented a pluggable Java component which is called from Forms via set_custom_item_property to show a given URL in a new browser window.
    set_custom_item_property('TEST.BROWSERBEAN', 'SHOW_URL', l_url);
    In the pluggable Java component the code invoked when setting that property first tests the Java runtime version:
    a. if it's 1.6.0_23 or higher then it simply calls Applet.getAppletContext().showDocument(<url>, "_blank");
    Java 1.6.0_23 fixes bug 6946479 by opening the browser window in the same iexplore.exe process via an IE add on API. This reestablishes the implementation behaviour as it's been with Java 1.6.0_17 and below, i.e. the bug exists in 1.6.0_18-1.6.0_22.
    The side effect of this bug fix is that by calling showDocument() (or the Forms API show_document) the problem with IE being unable to correctly load a site during the startup of the browser gets circumvented since there is no new browser process.
    Thus - if it's an option for you - just use Java 1.6.0_23 on the clients.
    For a description of the bug look e.g. at the following site. The description is E-Business Suite specific but it's a Java plugin bug:
    http://blogs.oracle.com/stevenChan/2010/12/mismanaged_session_cookie_issue_fixed_ebs.html
    Bug in the Sun Java bug database:
    http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=6946479
    b. if the Forms applet runs on Java 1.6.0_22 or below our PJC implementation uses Java-to-Javascript communication to run a Javascript function to open the URL in a new window in the same browser process, e.g.:
                        JSObject jsWindow = JSObject.getWindow(this.applet);
                        jsWindow.eval("window.open('" + urlToShow + "', '_blank');");
    I hope this helps.

    Andreas

  • After round trip to CS5 Aperture is not becoming the active window

    After I complete my edits in CS5 I command W and save and the file returns to aperture with adjustments etc but aperture doesnt become the active window so I have to click on it to start off the next part of my workflow. Unless I am mistaken there is something going wrong here as before when i used aperture on completion of the round trip I was back active in an active window where I started off. Anyone got any idea's with what I am doing wrong?  E

    If you were using CS5 and Aperture in SL, I think you are mistaken.  There is nothing about those keystrokes to cancel CS5 being the front application.  If you close CS5, then Aperture will be the front application, assuming you have not interimly opened another app.  I would not expect it to be different in Lion.  My use of Lion is currently testing another external editior, so haven't installed my Adobe Design Premium suite in Lion yet, but would not expect different behavior from that in SL.

    click on the very upper left of iM's window on 'Project Library' ..
    the Project Lib contains all projects you've ever done..
    you can re-name them, create sub-folders, trash 'em ..
    iM doesn't erase Projects by itself.. usually..
