Editable PDF Template for Proposals etc

I'm a complete newb when it comes to acrobat so let me try and explain what I'm trying to do.
My dad has his own business and he wants to be able to fill out all his proposals, statements and etc online. So what I'm trying to do is create a template based off of his printed proposals and make it so all he has to do is fill out the name, description and amount due. So I need an editable PDF file that he can fill out and then save as a new file (all filled out with the information he put in) that is uneditable, which will be presented to the client.
I tried adding form fields but I couldnt figure out how to save it so it would be uneditable by the client.
Hopefully, I explained that clearly. By the way I have the adobe master suite incase any other programs will help me. Thanks in advanced and sorry for my newbness.

You create RTF template in word, so that , after merging with xml you can have multiple output formats like PDF, XLS, EFT,.....

How to create editable PDF template for XML Publisher reports

Hi,
I have got a requirement to have some editable fields in one report whose output is in PDF format.
I tried looking and saw this can be done using the XML Publisher report and using PDF template.
But I got only Adobe Acrobat Reader and it does not have the facility to create Form fields.. Can you let me know what software I need in order to create the editable PDF Template.
In the user guide, it didnot mention anything regarding this.
Can I create editable PDF report using RTF template or do i have to got for PDF template only?

Creating an offline PDF template for upload and submit

Hi Gurus,
I'm very new to Adobe Interactive forms and will need your advise.
From the tutorials, when we create a offline PDF application that can upload a PDF for submission, we were always given the sample template PDF file provided by the tutorial. (travelrequest.pdf)
Now I need to create my own offline PDF template by myself so I can integrate to my WD program to include uploading the offline PDF template and submitting to backend.
the offline PDF must be editable and save via acrobat reader.
Any further notes or documentations that I can follow up to? Cos most of the doc I found doesn't teach me how to go about creating the PDF template for offline use in the first place...only the backend and WD integration which I already know.

Hi Jansen,
As far as I know the WAS 620 only supports to output your Forms and Scripts to PDF Format but they are not interactive.
The Adobe Interactive Forms Solution is only available from WAS 640. You can design your forms either in ABAP transaction SFP or in NWDS(Netweaver Developer Studio) Form Designer.

PDF Template for XML Report

We are trying to create a PDF Template for an XML Publisher Report using Adobe Acrobat Profession Version. The PDF Template works fine for one employee but when the start and end body tags are inserted in the template, the concurrent process to submit this reports completes in warning.
The OPP Log shows the below details

I think this is do which how i am creating the PDF Template. When i am not inserting the repearting group tootips then the PDF Template works abosoultey fine for one employee

How do I save edited PDF forms as editable PDF templates?

We need to download empty pdf forms, add some generic details (eg our company name and address) and then save that as a template so we can then open it and fill out through the year for different clients with their own individual data without having to fill in our own address again.
Preview cannot do this. On Tiger you can save the edited file, but it prevents it from then being editable again; in Leopard you can fill in the form with your data, save it, then open your saved file and edit it again but none of the data you added the first time has been saved.
We have to go into Windows and fire up Acrobat Reader 4.0 which has this functionality. All versions of Acrobat above v4 on both Windows and Mac were unable to do this so Preview isn't alone. It is frustrating though as we have to do this all the time - we fill out tax return forms for many different clients each year and really don't want to have to add our data manually each time.
Any suggestions? Any settings I can tweak anywhere?

There's a huge difference between reordering existing pages and altering their content. The PDF specification is quite vast and Apple doesn't even attempt to support much of it because of the work involved.
The bottom line is that Preview doesn't do what you want it to and that's certainly not going to change anytime within the next year, so it's up to you to decide what to spend your money on. Since it seems that you are using this for business purposes I'd say it's a little silly to gripe about such a trivial investment, but again, it's up to you.
You could also hire someone to put together your templates for you.

Using a pdf-template for generating an interactive form

Instead of I just want to use this pdf-Document as an template for an online form, by adding some fields.

Let me see if I understand your query properly first. Your requirement is that you have a PDF file which is pretty much fixed.
Now you want to use the Template present in the PDF file to be shown to the user, but this should be pre-filled with data that you receive from a Web Service & RFC.
Now firstly I will mention the easy way, which would require you extract the PDF Template statically, I am not sure if the API has now been released to do that programatically.
Now, lets say you store it is some location the template file, you would also need to tweak the DataBinding properties in the Template to match to that of the Context Node you will use in the application.
Now in the ModifyView method you should get a reference to the Interactive form element, use the setTemplateSource method to refer to your template.
Now based on the response from your RFC/WebService create the appropriate attributes into the node, and your form should work fine.

Print files into/onto PDF template for proofing

Hi,
I am hoping someone may be able to help.
I am wanting to set up several PDF templates that will range from A4 -SRA3. these PDF templates will be Proof Approval Templates. I then want to be able to send artwork to print from say InDesign but I want it to print into the PDF template. Hope that makes sense.
I would then end up with say a compliment slip artwork centred onto the Proof template enabling me to send out the proof.
How do I go about this or is it not something that can easily be done?

Edit PDF Templates

I am looking for a way to create a PDF document that has tokens such as {Firstname} and {Lastname}, etc, have a command-line script on the Linux server load it and replace the tokens with values, then save as a new document.
My goal is to create a website that serves slightly customized PDF documents.
I am having difficulty finding a tool that will provide this capability. Any ideas?

Editing Web Templates For Dummies

I am in the process of modifying a template that have. The
problem is that when I am working in Dreamweaver I can not select
an image to modify because everything is sliced into different
sections. However, when I open the PSD folder in Fireworks
everything is editable. How do find the seamless transition of
editing somthing in Firworks and having the result show up in the
Dreamweaver HTML (index) file? Any help would be
appriciated.

What you have obtained is not really a "template". It's a
graphics layout.
You can use it to create the graphics for the website, or
even the HTML for
the website (only as a last resort), but without a real
understanding of the
basics of HTML (and CSS), you are going to find yourself with
a steep climb
on your hands.
If you have no interest in learning HTML and CSS, then
consider grabbing a
copy of SiteGrinder, a commercial program that will take your
Photoshop
layout (as a PSD file), and create the pages from it (use
google to find
it).

I create PDFs for organizations my company works with. I change the information based off of the organization we are working with. I need to edit text and pictures. I was able to on my computer before but after moving offices and getting new computers I cannot make changes. I signed into Adobe but I still cannot edit them.

You probably only have Adobe Acrobat Reader on your new computer. To edit, you need Adobe Acrobat.

Bursting a PDF Template is not working correctly

We are using a PDF template for an export document and we are bursting the request so that we can send the output to multiple destinations.
This all works correctly until we hit a document that results in multiple pages. This results in the generated output to be a complete mess. Text appearing all over the page.
If I take the same XML and run it through the template in Template viewer, everything works as expected. The text is all where it is supposed to be. So this appears to be an issue with how the XML and template are bursted.
Anyone have any ideas?
EDIT: I should mention that we're on XML Publisher v 5.6.3

Need to update PDF template based on XML data source - POAWDSF33 in PO

I need to update a seeded PDF template - POAWDSF33 which is pdf type in Purchasing PO application to add some columns & reformat template according to client needs.
This template picks data from two xml based Data definition [Award Data template] :
PO_STD_PO.xml
POAWDFPDSNG.xml
As of now what i understand is , to download acrobat 5 pdf & edit PDF template...but how shall i update XML document which as queries..i think i have to add some columns in queries.
Please help me..any pointers would be very helopful.
