Edited photo doesn't save to PC (iOS 8)

(iOS 8, iPhone 6) When I use the iPhone Photos app to edit a photo to, for example, remove red-eye and/or use the magic wand tool, then click "Done," it says it saves. I can go back into edit mode with that photo later and it always gives me the option to "Revert" to the original, so it obviously doesn't save the edited photo as a separate image. The problem is, when I transfer an edited photo to my computer (via Lightning cable) it saves the original, unedited photo on the computer. Is this a bug or is it intentionally not saving the edited photo?
Whenever I edit a photo and connect my iPhone to my Windows computer, there is a local disk icon(s) in the DCIM folder along with the original photo(s). Meaning, if I edit three photos, there will also be three local disk icons in there as well. If I revert a photo to its original state, the corresponding local disk icon disappears from the Windows Explorer window.

LR 4.4 uses a large internal colorspace which is ProPhotoRGB with an sRGB gamma curve, so you might want to set your PS RGB workspace to ProPhotoRGB and see if that makes any difference.
What is the nature of the difference you’re seeing between the LR version and the PS-CS6-reimported version? Can we see a screenshot?
Did things used to work ok and this just started happening or have you just started using LR and/or CS6?

Use iPhoto. What's the problem with iPhoto import? It's a two clicks job. Select your device and click import.

• Photos doesn't save to camera roll.

I have the new ipad 3 just updated to iOS 6 and when i try to save a photo from facebook, emails, or safari it doesn't want to save to my camera roll. How can i fix this problem ?

Is your ipad standalone, or synced with either the cloud or itunes on a pc or mac. If the latter, then perform at least one back-up and sync with those first. Close all applications down by double tapping the home button then pressing on any application icon until it wiggles, use the little '-' red icon to close all applications. Then press and hold the On/Off button on the side and the Home button down together until the apple logo appears. Once rebooted and having synced your device try again. If this fails to correct your problem then it may be necessary to perform a backup and re-run the installation of iOS 6 using the restore process.

• Traveling with MacBook Pro, Mac at home. Best way to edit photos now but save later?

Hello. I'm traveling with my MacBook Pro w/Mavericks for a few weeks. I have a new Mac (Mavericks) at home. All of my current photos are stored in iPhoto on my Mac at home. Both computers have iPhoto.
What is the best way to edit my photos (taken with an iPhone 5s) now while traveling but in a way that I can still import them into iPhoto on my Mac when I return home? I don't want photos split between the two iPhoto libraries. If I import them into iPhoto now, on my MacBook Pro, and then edit them, is there a way to send them over to my iPhoto on the Mac when I return home?
If I import them into iPhoto (Macbook Pro) and edit them now, then when I get home export them as Current from iPhoto on the Macbook Pro and then import them into iPhoto on the Mac, will there be any data loss?
Is there another solution?

The solution is to use iPhoto Library Manager to move the shots and all the versions and metadata from one library to another.
This is the only way to move everything between Libraries.
If you export, you lose either your original or your version. Unless you export with care you can lose metadata too. If you are going to export, don't use 'Current' as you can get higher quality with other settings.

has details of the options in the Export dialogue.

• Edited photo doesn't look like CR2 when imported back to LR 4.4

When I edit photographs in CS6 as initiated from LR 4.4 they look unaccountably different from the original CR2 file when imported back to LR. At first I thought it was a profile mismatch but that isn't the problem. Any thoughts on how to fix it?
Thanks,
Will

• Enhanced photo doesn't save?

I have a picture in iPhoto and I used the 'enhance' feature on it. I am happy with the results and would like to set the enhanced picture as my desktop image. However, when I go to set that image as the desktop image, it ends up being the un-enhanced version of the picture? I'm using iPhoto 09 (v 8.1.2) on Mac OS X 10.6.8.

Figured it out, I just exported the photo to my desktop and then used it from there and it works

• Different colors depending on where edited photo is viewed

If i edit photos in photoshop, save them to my desktop, and email them to myself the photo colors look completely different when opening them on my iphone vs opening them on the computer. Why is this? Is there a way to fix it? Is it a setting in my camera, photoshop, lightroom, etc?

.CR2 is Canon's propitiatory raw file format. A raw file contains the raw information from your camera's sensor, unlike other formats such as .JPG
Since, I gather, you are using the JPEG format, you won't see any benefit from using the ProPhoto colorspace (the camera is already saving as either sRGB or Adobe RGB, and has compressed information).
Pictured in my previous post is Adobe Camera Raw, which is Photoshop's Raw file editor. It's editing functions are nearly the same as Lightroom.
In Lightroom these are the two places you need to change it:

• How to save photoshop CS5 extended edited photos in iphoto on Mac?

Hi this is my first post on here, so i'm unsure if i have put my question in the right place? etc....?
I have only just purchased CS5 extended and have just been on a intro course, and today decided to edit a few of my photos in photoshop.
i opened my photo from iphoto and edited it fine, that part was fairly easy to do, once i had finished i then went to file to save my photo, which i thought was straight forward as per click on 'save' once i had done that i closed the photo down, then moved onto another photo to edit.
after which i was looking through the iphoto folder, and i noticed that the photos i had edited using photoshop were still showing the parts of the picture that i had edited out i.e. overhead cables were showing in the picture! when i clicked on the photo to make it larger the edited version appeared.. i.e. no cables were showing!!
now am i going mad here, how has this happened? the next time i did a 'save as' and selected to save as and replace the original, but yet again the small picture in the folder is still displaying the original, now how am i going to know which photos have been edited and which haven't unless i click on them to make them large and show up the edited version!!!!! do i need to save the edited photo in a differnt way?
sorry for the long post but i wanted to give you all the info i thought might be of help.
Many thanks if you have read this far and i await your comments....Marie

Forget about iPhoto. Honestly.
iPhoto doesn't play nice with Photoshop—or any other program, as a matter of fact.
iPhoto uses a "libraries" paradigm and buries your images deep in "packages" only iPhoto can access. (Sure, there are workarounds, but what a hassle!).
I routinely delete the iPhoto application from all my OS X installs.
I suppose what you can do—if you insist on using that program—is to open the Photoshop-edited image with iPhoto and do a Save As from iPhoto itself.

• Any way to "save" edited photos in iPhotos as you progress?

I am new to the Mac environment and wanted to know how to manually "save" edits as you do them. I want to have the option to "go back" to an already saved photo, in case I mess up while trying to modify or touch up a photo. I have been working on a photo album project and noticed when using the "Retouching" option, after I complete my edits, I click "done". It goes back into the album page, and the photo doesn't look the same and it looks distorted. I tried closing the app, restarting to see if it was cached memory issue, but it still looks distorted. The only way to go back is the "revert to original", losing ALL changes/edits I spent a lot of time doing! Any help would be appreciated...thanks.

Well, after each edit function you could save by clicking on "done", then create a duplicate of the edited photo to do the next audit function. Then hit "done" and repeat the procedure for each edit function. At some point, you will find out which edit function is causing the distortion. But you will be able to revert back to the previously edited version without wiping out everything you have done.

• Edited photos in iOS show original photo after import or in iPhoto for MAC

If I edit a photo using the Photos app (or one the filter integrated now with Photos app) and then import that photo to my Mac (both using iphoto or import) or PC (both using import or with cloud photo integration), and sometimes if i try to view the photo using another iOS app, the photo display the original, unedited version.
the only way seems to duplicate the picture or to send it by mail.
but when you have hundreds of pics, that is not a solution any more..
and most of all i don't even want to import both the original and the edited version.
i found this issue in an apple support page: below the link..
but that page doesn't offer a solution one most of all it says that iphoto shouldn't have the issue...
can you help me?
thanks
iOS: Edited photos show original photo after import or in other apps

i verified..
well, unfortunately these solutions are both not optimal..
Shared Album:
- you lose all the other informations (like location, date, etc..)
- you lose quality
- but at least is fast
Sent by mail:
- it keep full resolution
- you still lose all other informations..
- it is ok for a picture but not good for several..

• Iphoto saves edited photos to a low res image

Whenever I edit a image and save it, Iphoto displays a low res photo. How can I have Iphoto display a high res edited photo?

What type of editing did you perform on the file? And is the file a jpg or RAW? If it's a 5 MB RAW file then iPhoto creates a jpg modified version of it for display and further editing. Maybe that's why you're seeing the lower file size.
I have a couple of 7 MB RAW files that, when imported, created a 2.5 MB jpg right off the bat. It's the nature of the beast.
I just ran some editing tests on a jpg and I'm finding that a simple exposure change to a 2.7 MB file results in a 2.5 modified version. I'm also seeing an increase in file size, from 4.0 to 4.1, when applying several edits at one time, like increase exposure, adjust highlights and shadows and tweak the histogram. This surprised me as generally there's no way you can edit a jpg file and not encounter some additional jpeg compression. However, with iPhoto's nondestructive editing you only encounter a one time compression no matter now many times you edit the photo.
Unless you're producing mural size prints it will be difficult to see any degradation in the image.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

• How can I save edited photos to the photostream?

When I edit a picture in iPhoto, the photostream in the app shows the edited photo...however it does not truly sync to the photosstream as the photos app on both the iPad and the iPhone show the old picture...any thoughts?

So I just set up an icloud and photostream so I can access my pictures on my laptop (DELL)
but only the new photos are uploading to my photostream and when I select them from the 'photos' app and

If you are trying to create a shared stream and don't want to add any subscribers other than yourself, open the Photos app, open the camera roll, tap Select, tap the photos you want to add, tap the share icon (box with upward pointing arrow), tap "iCloud" tap "Stream", tap "New Shared Stream", enter a name for the stream, tap Next, then tap Next again without entering an email address, then tap Post. In other words, you don't have to enter an email address if you aren't inviting anyone else to subscribe to the stream. As the owner of the shared stream you are automatically subscribed and will find the shared stream on all your devices.

also on my icloud it doesn't havea photostream button so I'm not sure how to access them?
As mentioned, you can't view them on iCloud.com. You can view the from an iOS device (such as an iPod Touch) by going to the Photos app and looking in the Shared section. You can view them on your PC by setting up iCloud on it (see https://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/pc.html), checking Photos on the iCloud control panel, clicking Options next to Photos, and making sure you check both My Photo Stream and Photo Sharing (also note the iCloud photo location beneath this as that is where you will find the photos).

• After upgrading to IOS 5, the edit button doesn't appear in the CONTACTS

After upgrading to IOS 5, the edit button doesn't appear in the CONTACTS. Any idea, why?

If you have a gmail, yahoo, or even icloud etc. account go into settings>mail, contacts and make sure you're not syncing through yahoo for example.. Turn that off, if that still doesn't work delete the yahoo account and simply set up the account again..will add the + & edit functions again..

• Anyone know why my iPhoto program won't save my edited photos?

I can see them in the album and in the "events" in my library. When I open it that far, I see all of my edited photos, but when I open them individually, they are unedited unless I click on the "EDIT" button....THEN, they show up edited! They are also unedited when I post them on Facebook or if I save them to my desktop or when I actually have one printed! THAT tells me that for some reason, iPhoto is not automatically saving my editing like it says it does! And....I HATE the fact that there is no "SAVE" or "SAVE CHANGES" button!!! Not all of them, but the ones that I recently took in jpeg format and not raw. Bummed! Please help! Thank you! When I first got my camera, I didn't know about the "RAW" setting so I was using JPEG back then and it worked. Why all of a sudden is it not???....FRUSTRATED.

Try trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder.
(On 10.7: Hold the option (or alt) key while clicking on the Go menu in Finder to access the User Library)
(Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
What's the plist file?
For new users: Every application on your Mac has an accompanying plist file. It records certain User choices. For instance, in your favourite Word Processor it remembers your choice of Default Font, on your Web Browser is remembers things like your choice of Home Page. It even recalls what windows you had open last if your app allows you to pick up from where you left off last. The iPhoto plist file remembers things like the location of the Library, your choice of background colour, whether you are running a Referenced or Managed Library, what preferences you have for autosplitting events and so on. Trashing the plist file forces the app to generate a new one on the next launch, and this restores things to the Factory Defaults. Hence, if you've changed any of these things you'll need to reset them. If you haven't, then no bother. Trashing the plist file is Mac troubleshooting 101.
