Edited photos from iPhone to Mac appear original

When I transfer photos which I edited from my iphone (6) to mac (yosemite), iPhoto (version 9.6) does not see edited photos, only originals. How can I transfer edited photos?
MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013)

Metadata for managing edits on the iPhone uses a "sidecar" file with a .AAE file type rather than embedding the XMP data in the JPG file. Thus, it is essential to import the AAE file when transferring images to a computer from an iPhone. If the transfer was done with iPhoto 9.5 or higher on the computer the .AAE file should have been imported into iPhoto along with the .JPG. If the transfer was done with an older version, or was done with a tool other than iPhoto, the .AAE file may have been lost. Some users "cleverly" delete the .AAE files, not knowing what they are for.

You fail to understand the question. "How can I import edited photos from iPhone 5S to PC (Windows 7)?" The key is that the photos taken on my iPhone have been edited on the iPhone. The original photo exists in "Photo Stream," and the edited photo exists in "Camera Roll."
When I import (synch, transfer, any synonym you prefer is fine with me) photos, they are written to two areas available on my PC:
    Photostream images are at
       Computer\iCloud Photos\My Photo Stream\
and Camera Roll (edited phots) are at
       C:\Users\[my name]\Pictures\[synch-date]\
The images shown in "C:\Users\[my name]\Pictures\[synch-date]\" (the Camera Roll photos) are not as they were edited, however. I suspect that the iPhone "edits" images by applying a layer that manipulates the image without actually editing the file.
I have found so far that my best recourse is to import photos to my PC, edit them there in Photoshop (or other software), and then upload the images as I want them edited back to the iPhone. I would prefer to simply edit the pictures once on the iPhone and be able to import the edited files to my PC.

  • Problems transferring photos from iphone to mac, iphoto says there is nothing to download...

Hi, I need to transfer photos from iphone to mac. My mac can 'see' my iphone with iphoto open, but the box says there are no photos to download. Could anyone help me please? This has never been a problem before (it was fine about 2 weeks ago). I've tried turning both devices off and have spent a couple of hours trying to search for this problem on the internet. I can't remember when I updated to OS 7.1 but I guess that was recently; could this be the problem? Thank you so much.

This has nothing to do with iOS 7.1
Is your phone unlock when it is connected to your Mac?

  • I am unable to import photos from iPhone to Mac.

I am unable to import photos from iPhone to Mac.  The most recently taken photos are not showing up on the screen ready to import as usual.  Any thoughts as to why?

Remember: we cannot see your machine. There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 8 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS.  So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Basic things like :
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For instance: 'iPhoto won't export' is best explained by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted?
    - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

The following link has 2 methods for importing photos to a Mac (not counting Photo Stream). Are you using iPhoto or Image Capture? If you follow the steps in the link for that method, what exactly happens that doesn't allow the upload? iOS: Import personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer

You don't. File transfer, by Bluetooth, has never been supported on any iPhone. To import pics/videos in your camera roll, read here:

Connect the iPhone to the Mac using a USB cable, and then launch iPhoto, Photos, Image Capture, or Aperture, depending which applications you have installed. all can import from an iPhone.
Which MacOS X version do you have and which iOS version? With newer systems you can also use Photo Stream:   iCloud: Photo Stream FAQ

  • Transfer photos from iPhone to mac without iPhoto / image capture and preview doesn't see device

Hello. I'd like to transfer photos from my iPhone to my Mac. I read (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4083) that iPhoto is the standard application for that; I'd like to do without. I read that image capture (http://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/8954/copy-photos-off-iphone-without-iph oto) or even Preview (http://osxdaily.com/2010/07/10/transfer-photos-from-iphone-to-computer/)  could help. Neither of them see my iPhone although cable connected and iTunes does. So my question is two: If Preview and Image Capture are ineed supposed to, why don't they? And is there any other way?
    Thanks

I dont like iphoto so the easiest way to do it is using image capture, just plug in your iphone launch image capture from your applications folder and import all images or just selected images into any folder you want.
Moreover, you can follow this page about how to transfer photo/pictures from iPhone to Mac, which give an easy guide to figure out this problem.
    Have a good luck!

    Hello Lakshminarayanafromgbr,
    Welcome to Apple Support communities.
I have attached several articles relating to copying photos to your Mac from your iPhone. The first is importing directly from the phone to the Mac. The next two are on setting up and using Photo Stream through iCloud.

Connect the iPhone to your Mac and launch iPhoto.  It will detect the photos and indicate those that are not already in the library so you can import them.
Be careful in letting iPhoto delete the photos from the iPhone.  It's best to delete them manually from the iPhone so you have more control over what gets deleted.
Once you have your iPhone and iPhoto setup with Photo Stream to automatically import all new photos taken with your iPhone it'll be a seamless transfer:

  • Import edited Photos from iPhone 5s to Mac

    Hello Everyone!
How can I import several photos from my iPhone 5s (updated to the latest iOS 8.0.2 (12A405)) to my macbook Pro (updated to OS X 10.9.5)?
I've been searching all over the net, all over support.apple, iPhoto help, iphone help, and I am unable to do this. I found sending email with attachments a very inefficient way, (i've been looking all over for over 4 ridiculous hours). iPhoto would only import originals.
I also tried iCloud sharing, but besides being a bore, it doesn't save the location when exporting.
It seems i've once achieved to import edited pictures, after several hours of searching, but now I can't recall how i did it. It -the way i did it that time- created a folder with the event name inside the iphoto library, but now when I try to import with iphoto, it will save only the original file, and save it in some weird named folder, which is inside of another weird named folder and so on. I have to import more than 5gb of photos this time which are already edited on the phone, need a way to do this without making it one by one, and would like to save the location data, since they are from trips in Europe.
I need a hero! Any help would be kindly appreciated, since i'm running out of ideas, and getting really tired of this (:
    Thanks all!
    Ki

There is no easy solution, I'm afraid.
If the shared photo streams are not an option for you, wait with transferring your edited photos for a bug fix.  The current Photos.app in iOS 8.0.2 does not have the option to save a copy of the edited photo to the camera roll, and shared photo streams do no longer transfer the GPS. If you can wait for an iOS 8 update to fix this, wait a bit.
Dropbox will also transfer the edits, but the GPS is also missing.
Mailing the photo will remove the GPS.
You may want to send feedback to Apple with a bug report that edited photos cannot be transferred properly right now. http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto_ios.html

  • HT203612 edited photos from iphone are not seen in mac iPhoto

When I transfer photos which I edited from my iphone to mac (yosemite), iPhoto (version 9.6) does not see edited photos, only originals. How can I transfer edited photos?

HHi, thank you for the reply. I have checked my iPad and iPhone and neither has iCloud Photo Library (Beta) enabled. Turned off in both. Photostream is turned on.
i tried to sort it out  by dragging all the photos to Events on the Mac and then deleting them from iCloud - (left hand side of iPhoto under the section 'Shared'). the photos now show up in Events. I did force quit but the issue remains. The message reads ' photos are bing imported to the library. Please wait for import to complete.'
i can't empty iPhoto trash either. The message read "Delete error. Please wait for import to complete.'
WHen I was moving the photos to the Events I always had a message about duplicates - to the effect that the photos already existed, did I want to import them? I clicked on Yes, import all duplicates. But when it showed the images - duplicates side by side - one showed the photo and the other was blank.
I really don't know what to do! And I don't know how to handle my iOS devices. Is it to do with the large number of photos? Any help, advice appreciated.

  • How do I upload photos from iPhone to Mac using Photos

I have photos on my iPhone that I wish to upload to my iMac and then share using Skype. How do I do that now that my iPhoto library has been converted to Photos?
    (1) I do not want to send my photos via iCloud
    (2) I do not want to copy any photos from my iMac to my iPhone.
Why did this get so complicated? Why can't I drag and drop?
    OSX Yosemite 10.10.3

See the instructions quoted below from Photos help https://help.apple.com/photos/mac/1.0/?lang=en#/pht6c803201
Import photos from a camera or iOS device
Connect a camera, iPad, iPhone, or other iOS device to your computer with a USB cable.
Make sure the camera or device is turned on and the camera is set to the correct mode for importing photos. For information on which mode to choose, see the instructions provided with your camera. If your camera has a “sleep” mode, make sure it’s disabled or set to a time increment long enough to allow your images to download.
Open Photos (if it isn’t already open), then click Import in the toolbar.Note: The Import button only appears when a camera or storage device is connected.Photos displays all the photos and videos on the device. You can choose to import a selection of photos or all the new photos on the device.
    Do one of the following:
Import all new photos: Click Import All New Photos.
Import a selection of photos: Click the photos you want to import, then click Import Selected.
If a message asks whether you want to delete or keep the photos on your camera after they’re imported, click Delete Items to remove the photos, or click Keep Items to keep them on the camera.Photos imports your photos. To cancel importing, click Stop Import.
When all photos have been imported, disconnect the camera or device from your computer.
Imported photos appear in the Last Import album in Albums view.
If you have photos taken with a film camera, you can import them into Photos by converting them to digital files (using the Image Capture app and a home scanner). After importing the digital files into Photos, you can edit them and add them to albums and projects, just as you can any other digital photos. You can also use the Image Capture app to set Photos to open automatically whenever you connect your camera. For more information, open Image Capture in the Applications folder, then choose Help > Image Capture Help.
Tip: You can change the date and time of scanned images in Photos; select the image and choose Image > Adjust Date and Time.
