Edited video is exporting blurry as matched source, but looks great in the monitor before export?

I've pulled in 5 videos and clippled them up to create a 50 second reel showing short segments of each. The video is for an HTML 5 embed on a website so it's at an odd size (235x162).
Everything looks great when viewing the editable composition within Premiere (and I've tried this in After Effects as well), but when I go to export the video ends up blurry no matter if I match the source or fiddle with the settings.
I'm guessing something is going on due to sourcing from multiple video files that are in different wrappers and codecs? If so, why would I be able to edit so cleanly (and render in program), but cannot export at the same quality??
If it's the codec issue, what's the best format to convert all of these to if it's exporting to an HTML 5 video (if that last part even matters)?
Does anyone have experience with the best settings for exporting .mp4 h.264 for web use? I want to get this thing small in file size, but still good quality.
Here's a rundown of the imported videos I've been clipping up assuming its an issue with one of them (audio does not matter, we're not exporting it):
MPEG4, AVC, Variable rate, Progressive
Quicktime MPEG-4, AVC,  Progressive
Quicktime MPEG-4, AVC, Progressive
MPEG-4, AVC, Variable rate, Progressive
Quicktime MPEG-4, Sorenson 3, Not progressive but I'm not seeing what it is
Thank you!

Hi Collin,
Try 1 pass VBR instead of 2 pass VBR in the encoding settings.
Hope that helps,
Kevin

  • My avchd video I imported looks great on the monitor, but once I run it through iDVD the quality of video on my HD tv is much less than I had on the monitor

Hope you can help. I imported AVCHD video into final cut express 4, Ive used the broadcast safe filter, and others in the final cut color correction suite. but to no avail. When I export using quick time, and burn the DVD in best performance, the quality of the video is much less on my HD TV  than on my monitor during construction.
Im looking for some insight here.
My DVD player is pretty cheap, but movies I buy are crisp and clean, my video looks blotchy and cheap.
I tried using iMovie and got the same results

Hi Jeffrey. You're probably going to get a lot of comments as to the fact that DVD is not HD quality. It's resolution quality is much lower than actual HD and there's a lot of compression going from HD footage to standard definition of DVD. You might experiment with BluRay if you can get a BluRay burner to work with your mac or burn a BluRay project using Toast on your mac. You can search the forums for more informaiton.
I've been experiencing some of what you're describing for years. I also agree that the overall video quality going from HD to iDVD is just not as good as it's expected to be. The commercial DVDs use complex compression techniques and of course are shot with perfect lighting and equipments,
Make sure you're exporting your FCE project (not self-contained). In iDVD use professional quality unless it's a really long video. Check the iDVD forums for more informaiton about that. Good luck and I wouldn't expect any improvement from iMovie. iMovie is more targetted towards online viewing rather than DVD...

  • While back i purchased some music videos , i see them on my purchases but i cannot see the full videos why??? only like 30seconds

Hello, while back I purchased some music videos , I see them on my purchases but I cannot see the full videos why??? only like 30seconds.

You have just experienced what Apple and ITunes is
designed to do. Prevent you from sharing purchased
music from ITunes. That's the way it is suppose to
work. Now, do your purchased songs play using ITunes.
Play them, see if you get any warning. Next reload
the songs again on your IPOD. Before disconnecting,
locate the songs on your IPOD using ITunes and
attempt to play them. Do they play. If they do you
    can properly disconnect your IPOD.
Yes, they do play in iTunes. (And just in case you don't know, I am on my home computer where I originally set up my iPod.) When I hook up my iPod to my computer the songs are there on my ipod, while veiwing it on iTunes, and they play, they just won't play on my iPod. And no, I don;t get an authorization window that pops up when I play the song/video, they play automatically

  • (Video included) Animation plays fine in Edge but objects are out of place on export

    YouTube
So my animation looks fine in edge as you can see but on export and looking in browser the arm becomes detached.
Any way to fix this?  I have a project due and really need to get this fixed

There issue is due to the transform-origin bug which was there in the older version of Edge Animate.
This issue has been fixed in latest version of Edge Animate.
    So, you have two options:
         1. Upgrade your Edge animate and save the composition.
         2. If you don't wish to upgrade right now, then add the following code in the Untitled-1_edgeActions.js file just on line#15,
              Symbol.bindTriggerAction(compId, symbolName, "Default Timeline", 0, function(sym, e) {
                  sym.$("ArmGun").css({"transform-origin": "0% 100% 0px"});

  • Video looks great in the simulator but picture shifts to the right on DVD

When I preview my encoded video clips in DVDSP4 using the simulator they look great and are centered perfectly... however, when I write my project to DVD and play it back on a consumer DVD player, the video (picture) is offset to the right by about 15 units (pixels). All my menus look off-centered. How can I keep my clips centered on the written DVD? Help!

This is certainly a new issue. I haven't seen any reports of it.
Could you tell us how it looks on other set tops or your computer?

  • Need help exporting animation to Wordpress (I've looked at all the tutorials I could find).

Alright, I've been working on a slide show animation for sometime now, but I need to export it to wordpress and I can't exactly understand how to do it correctly. I've even used the edge wordpress plugin, but it doesn't seem to work at all (I tried on two different sites, first seems to be a projram script error, the other site didn't upload anything). I've done a few of the tutorials floating around but none of them make sense to me, I don't know exaclty which parts of code to edit and in which clients to work them in. If someone could help make these five hours of confusion make sense for me that that would be amazing.
Where should I start on trying to get my animation to wordpress?

I've come with the same issue myself. I love Adobe Edge and i find it dead easy to make wonderful stuff there, though making it work in Wordpress has become a challenge. I followed the instructions in this video and in this guide and they seem to work only if you happen to use wordpress with a plain theme with no fancy jquery animations and functionality using these libs. I tried intergrating an Edge animation in my wordpress site, though because i happen to use a theme with a slider which uses jquery, when following the instructions step by step then neither the slider worked neither the edge animation itself. I found somewhere that you need to edit some .js libs using the noconflict mode though that did not work either (it was an example for joomla).
I tried installing the Edge Suite wordpress plugin which is still in developing stage. You need to export your Edge composition using the File > Publish tool found in edge in order to import the .aom files. Unfortunatelly no luck with that. I'm still looking for a solution in order to make animations for my website. I sent a tweet to Adobe Edge and they refered me to the support forums. Uhg!
I'm sure there's a workaorund using the .js libraries. Im not experienced with them so i'll have to wait for a solution to come about. I'm sorry for not helping though be sure to check the links above

I've used this code before on other Muse sites not sure what could have happened. Thnx!!!

  • I updated my iPhone 4 to the iOS 6.  I no longer have any ringers sounds, and neither my music nor videos will play.  They are listed, but when I press the play button, nothing happens.  Solutions?

Has anyone found the solution to this problem?

You may have to try deleting all the music from your phone (by going to Settings>General>Usage>Music, swipping All Music and tapping Delete), then sync it all back on with iTunes in order to fix this.

  • Does anyone know why timeline videos can go blurry when they were clear and sharp just a few hous ago?

    Hi everyone,
I imported some fideo files and I turned the to slow motion (50%), and then video quality to Optical Flow. They all looked great in the timeline and viewer theese last few days but today, after using 2 monitors for 20 - 30 minutes, I switched back to a single monitor configuration. The I noticed that the timeline videos looked blurry and, whe I played the videos, they flickered in the viewer (which they didn't before).
This is what the timeline looks now (and preferences are set to high quality):

    Hi,
The computer is a Mac Pro with a 10.6.8 OS and an Eizo CG243W. The second Monitor is a 19" BenQ.
I connected both monitors again and checked that both configurations were correct. I fact, if the configurations had been changed, all the screen would look blurry, not just the time line (or so I think)

  • Premiere CC 2014 "Match Source" bug when exporting multiple clips

Getting a strange bug when trying to batch export.
The source clips are 4K MP4s. When exporting individually I use the Match Source button in the export dialogue and it correctly matches to the 4K frame size when sending to queue in Media Encoder.
If I select multiple clips and batch export them, selecting "Match Source" they come out as NTSC DV 29fps 720 x 480. The only way to work around this is to manually enter the frame values in Media Encoder after queuing.
Anyone come across this? Anyone at Adobe aware?

  • Camtasia video footage turns blurry in Premiere

I'm trying to edit together a video tutorial of some footage captured using Camtasia. From Camtasia the footage was exported .mov files at 640x480 in 10fps. When I import this footage into Premiere the source footage looks crisp and clear in the source panel but once I bring the clip into the timeline the footage appears blurry and out of focus in the program panel. I setup up a custom setting when I created the project to match the 640x480 and 10fps specs but that didn't resolve anything. Any ideas. FYI I'm using CS3 version 3.2.

The link in this ARTICLE might offer some useful info.

  • FCP exporting blurry...?

I am importing .mov files that someone is capturing using Camtasia. When I import it into FCP its looks great in the viewer. The text on the pages that are in the video are nice and clear, but when I view it while editing and view it in the canvas its blurry, even after rendering or if i export it.
I also have tested it in imovie and when i export it in imovie or view it in imovie, it looks great.
Why would there only be a problem in FCP?
    mov i am importing is:
    H.264
    1040x858
even when i make the sequence settings those exact settings it does not look right nor is it even clear.
any ideas?? why would imovie do this WAY better than FCP??

    Matt,
as noted you are trying to edit a format that is a delivery not an editing format, H.264 that is.
For a full list of editing formats check out FCP Easy setup.
Also your frame size and pixel aspect (0.682) are not standard (In sequence settings, Command+0, you'll find a list of settings for standard frame size and pixel aspect ratio), however, if that is the frame size you want you can indeed customize certain settings.
Main point is that FCP will work best if you convert your H.264 material to an editing format like DV or ProRes (you could use [this free application|http://www.squared5.com> for that purpose).
Here a useful tutorial on how you could get started with mpeg streamclip:

  • Color of video looks extremely different (photo negative) after export

After sending my footage (on my timeline) to Color, I changed the color in the Primary In, then added some Effects in the Color FX section. I added Exposure, Film Look, and Saturation. I edited each one of my clips (with the same settings as I mentioned) and then sent it back to FCP. I rendered the footage. The footage looked great in the timeline. Everything looked just as I wanted it to. But then when after exporting using Quick Time conversion, I played the video and it looked absolutely horrible. When I say horrible I mean the footage looked like a photo negative, it was not even watchable. I had other footage in the exported video that was not edited in color, and that footage was fine.
Where is this problem coming from and how do I solve it? I would really appreciate help on this issue.
Here is a link with what my footage looked like after exporting it:

I am just rendering files and viewing them in my preview screen to see what I am doing before I export.
This is the properties of one of many clips I am using:

    Total Duration: 00:04:00:00
Average Data Rate: 1.3 MB / second
    Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.3333
    This is the sequence settings:
    Editing Mode: DV NTSC
    Timebase: 29.97 frames/second
    Video
    Frame size: 720        Horizontal: 480         Vertical 4:3
Pixel aspect ratio: D1/ DV NTSC (0.9091)

    Video Preview
    Preview File Format: NTSC DV
    Codec:  DV NTSC
    Width: 720

I also have tried to reinstall wiping any preferences that may have been accidentally selected, but I still had the problem.
I don't know how to delete the media cache....

  • Do clips need to be rendered before exporting project to video camera?

I am in the process of exporting an Imovie project back to my video camera for storage on a tape. When I start the export process I get a message that says clips need to be rendered prior to exporting. When I click the button to render clips Imovie goes through the process of rendering the clips and after several minutes the Imovie project starts to export to the camera and runs for about 2 seconds and the Imovie quits.
Imovie also gives the option of not rendering the clips.
Do i need to render the clips before exporting them to my video camera?
iMac4,1   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   Intel Core Duo, 1.83 GHz

Does the project reside on an external drive? If so, make sure the drive uses the Mac OS Extended disk format, which iMovie requires.
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=4176921#4176921
The crashes are most likely occurring because of external factors, not because of a flawed rendering routine. These can include the wrong disk format, QuickTime add-ons and obsolete iMovie plug-ins.

Do i need to render the clips before exporting them to my video camera?
It may depend on what type of clips they are. If they are photos imported with the Ken Burn checkbox turned OFF — which are not rendered as they are imported — iMovie will ask to render them. Do NOT allow iMovie to render the photos at this time for there's a bug that adds lots of jaggies to the images, reducing their quality.
