Edited video quality looks terrible!

I am seriously confused... Take a loot at the photo. On the left is the viewer and on the right is the canvas.
I have filmed with an HD video (5D MKIII) yet why is it, when I edit this specific part of the video it goes so poor quality?
I have changed all the playback settings to full quality and HD. I even tried to export it and it came out poor quality as well!
Befire rendering it looked fine, yet when it has been rendered it looks terrible. When I view it for editing it also looks fine (as you can see) but in the canvas it looks terrible again.
Why is it doing this and is there a way to fix it?
Thanks

That could be the problem... where it says 'Quicktime Video settings' that was set on H.264. I haven't converted my .mov files to ProRes no...
I'm guessing I'd need to convert them then import them and edit them all again then?
Thanks for the reply

    1. Music files and error message...are these music files from iTunes? If so, convert them to .wav in iTunes to convert them to wav version, and then import the .wav version into Premiere Elements 13 project using Premiere Elements 13 Expert workspace's Add Media/Files and Folders/Project Assets from where you drag the wav version to the Soundtrack.
The following are the instructions for the iTunes converting

    2. How you set up the project and the export settings that you select greatly influence your end product result.
    a. What are the properties of the source media?
    b. What project preset did you (manually) or the project (automatically) set to match the properties of the source media.
(If you do not know, please tell us what you see for the readings of Editing Mode, Timebase, Frame Size, Pixel Aspect Ratio - even
if the fields look grayed out.)
    c. For your export...Publish+Share/Computer/and then what? And what preset? Did you use the default settings of the preset or did you
customize the export settings of the preset under the preset's Advanced Button/Video Tab and Audio Tab?
Let us start here and then decide what next.

  • Video Quality looks low res after burning

    we just completed a dvd,
    edited in final cut 4,
compressed our files in compressor, mpeg2,

everything looks great until we burned the dvd

  • Full Quality Looks Terrible

Hello, I am an art student trying to get my demo reel up and running.
My footage is 100% digital art, no NTSC video. I exported my video at maximum quality from After Effects using Quicktime with no compression and it looks just as good as my original raw footage (although huge in filesize). I made my edits in Premiere and export it using the exact same settings (totally uncompressed) and there is a noticeable drop in quality. Here is a comparison:
    http://ripethings.com/~robert/Quality.jpg
    After Effects CS3 Export (Left)
    Premiere CS3 Export (Right)
    Settings used:
    Resolution:       720x480
    Frame Rate:     30
    Pixel Ratio:      0.9
    Field Order:     None (Progressive)
There are no settings for Bit Rate or or Key Frames since there is no compression.
My ultimate goal is to get a nice high quality low filesize H.264 version created and uploaded to Vimeo, but if my highest quality looks this bad I know I'm not getting the most out of my H.264 compression.
Any help would be extremely appreciated!

What are your project settings (not just the export settings)?
If the project settings are interlaced, and you set the export Field
Order to None (Progressive), Pr will try to deinterlace the footage on
export.  When that happens you lose half your resolution.
The key is to set up a project that is progressive and export from
that.  To preserve the work you've already done, simply import the
existing project into the new progressive project.

  • Edit in photoshop looks terrible

i thought i would try the "seamless" editing between LR and photoshop. go to photo, edit in photoshop....CS2 opens up...i can edit, dogde, burn, whatever...how great! then click save....and there are my changes in LR. in a perfect world, this would be great. but, the RAW file looks TERRIBLE when opened in photoshop. it looks like a washed out bluish cast with a bit of negative effect on it. it just looks bad. then when you save and view it in LR, it looks the same...terrible. i spoke with a couple people and they said this was a bug in the beta version. looks like an issue still. so now i have to take the long way around and export to tiff, then work on the photos, then export to jpg. ridiculous. i still like the software but they really should have focused on the big things instead of the small stupid things...like the 5 star rating system for photos.

there was no tone in my first post, what you were reading was insane frustration. i spent 5 hours on this and it still isn't working. sorry if you took it personal. the photos look faded when i right click, choose edit in CS2, and view them in CS2. if i open any other photos in CS2 they look mint. let me say they don't look night and day but they are very faded and the color saturation is not there. what settings in CS2? where do i look for these? i thought everything was perfect since it always is when i just use CS2. 2 of my other guys have the same issue, as well as another photo studio we are in touch with who dont' work with us. 4 people with the same issue is odd i think you would agree. i don't think we will get much resolved via this since i can't show you the photos. and when i do select edit in CS2, i get the box that comes up with the 3 bullet points...half the time i only am able to select the 3rd, since the first and 2nd are greyed out and yes i have the full version. bought right from adobe. what setting do you check off in CS2 to make it look great? then when i click SAVE in CS2, it brings it back to LR with my edits which is great, but it's the faded non-saturated version. i really really really wish i could give you more info but i can't. i'm not new to adobe, just LR. i have been using After FX, premiere, PS, encore, audition for years.

  • Importing AVCHD and the quality looks terrible

I just tried importing my Canon Vixia HFG10 HD video clips and the results look terrible.  They look really good on the camera but in Premiere Pro 5.5 they don't.
I loaded the clips in the media browser and did a new-sequence-from-clip to match all of the specs.
    Any thoughts?
My inital browsing for solutions recommended buying some converters but after buying PP and a top-line camera I am not too jazzed about going to the wife and saying I need to buy more.

So people don't have to ask, it is a good idea to post at least a short list of your hardware

  • I chat 4 video quality is terrible!

Can someone please help!I just switched over from a pc to macbook mac ox 10.5.1 expecting great video quality with i chat or skype but instead had to deal with error 8 messages in i chat after all the headaches of opening ports in my router, the audio video is working but the video quality is very bad my own preview is clear and my boyfriend sees me clear, but the image I get of him is very pixellated. I've set the bandwidth to none and speed to 1.5 in quicktime, my average speedtest results are 6500 downloads and 400 uploads. connection doctor average is usually about 350-400 framerate 9 -10 for both local and his connection. We both using have tried connecting directly to the modem, however I still get poor image. He is also using a mac ox 10.5.1 i chat 4 same machine except for different graphic card I have a gma x3100 144 mb while he has the gma 940 4mb can this have something to do with it ?

  • Bad video quality over WiFi?

iChat seems to be trying to out-think me by lowering iChat video quality when it's on WiFi, but using great video when I'm on ethernet. This seems silly, since I have great WiFi connectivity, but I can't seem to disable the behavior. Does anyone know how to disable iChat's WiFi preferences?
    More details:
I'm on an 802.11g WiFi network through an AEBS with "full bars" and the quality looks terrible over Bonjour to someone else on the LAN (wired or wireless). As soon as I disable AirPort and plug in to wired Ethernet, making no other changes other than restarting iChat, the quality looks fantastic.
My WiFi speed is always in the tens of megabits per second, with ping latencies below 1ms to the other clients, so it should be plenty fast.
    Ideas?

I have been using iChat exclusively over WiFi (Airport Extreme) from my iMac, and via Ethernet and WiFi from my Powerbook. I have not had any quality issues when connecting in this manner. Connections within my local network from WiFi to WiFi, as well as to outside connections over Broadband have all been of very good quality. Now if I can just get it all working again following the upgrade to Leopard 10.5.1.
FYI: I have even used iChat AV on Tiger using DUN on my Treo650 (Sprint), which worked fine as well.

  • Poor video quality when exporting hd

I created a photo slideshow in iMovie HD. I used the hdv 1080i60 preset. when i preview it in iMovie the footage looks great. when I try to share it in an hd format(1080i or 720p) the movie looks really choppy. if i export it to a standard resolution it plays fine.
I don't think hardware is an issue.
How can I export it to HD and keep the quality i have when i preview?

    Hello--
I'm trying to do the same thing, need to make a slide show of high res photo's imported into iMovie HD6 so that I can control titles, transitions and music. The quality looks terrible when converted to IMovie. I don't see how you change the HDV preset anywhere in iMovie, the only thing I see in the preferences menu is playback - standard, high and highest. In any case I selected highest and the frames looks terrible--maybe 320x280 but no way of telling, no detail in pictures whatsoever.
Thnks for any help you can shed.

  • Freezing at Sign On and Diminished Video Quality

I'm having trouble with iChat. First, I seem to be getting a lot of freezing at sign-on. I can occasionally see the face of the person I'm connecting with - but then I get an error drop down window from Apple asking if I want to send a report. When I am able to connect, the video quality is terribly distorted.
I have iChat version 5.0. I have set my bandwidth at 200 kbps. I'm running Snow Leopard and use AirPort.
I seemed to have had a decent connect last week, but it has gotten steadily worse in the past few days. Does anyone have any fixes they can recommend? Thanks!

    Hi,
Manually go to your Home Folder/Library/Preferences as Spotlight does not report on this folder.
Also delete com.apple.iChat.AIM.plist if it is an AIM/Apple Login
Or the one with Jabber in it if a Jabber Buddy list is the problem.
Do not delete this with the one mention by Carolyn as that will cause the Start Up Screens to Appear again.

  • Last-minute help! Video quality drops after burn

I'm exporting a video out of FCP using Compressor, saving directly to the DVD format for burning inside DVD Studio Pro. When I preview the video inside DSP, it looks amazing. After I finish burning the disc and view it in DVD Player, the video quality looks horrible.
    See a screenshot here:
    http://www.door62.com/temp/DVD-quality.jpg
The one on the left is DVD Player, the one on the right is the preview inside DSP.
Any advice? This is actually ridiculously last-minute... Any help would be hugely appreciated

I have been having simliar trouble, esp. with textured backgrounds in the video.
Specifically, someone sitting in a board room delivering a short message (2 minutes) on camera. The background is a textured wood panel with a continuously changing color gradient.
I encode in Compressor, NTSC lower field, 2-pass VBR, 6.1 Mbps avg., 7.2 Mbps max., AIF audio. I have also tried a number of bit rate variations including CBR and AC3 audio.
I drop the clip in a DVDSP track and it looks fine in simulator. Also open the m2v in QT Pro, it looks fine.
After building, I check the TS_Folder in Apple DVD Player, and the background pulses, shifting from light to dark and is filled with artifacts. It looks even worse on a set-top player.
I have had problems like this a number of times, and end up having to use other programs on Windows to get around it. Kind of a pain.

  • Isight video quality?

can you improve this/and or the settings of isight so it looks better?
I've had a little play around with isight but whenever I bring it up through imovie it just looks really bad, the light doesn't get picked up well at all and it just looks like I'm using a pretty naff camera. Was just wondering if this could be fixed/changed at all as I know that looking on YouTube people use their isight and the video quality looks really good
I have a late 2008 aluminum Macbook if that helps.
    Thanks

    Lights.
    And more lights.
Daylight is best (gives natural colors).

  • Quicktime 7.4.5 HD Video Quality is Poor

Hello, every since I updated to the latest QT version the video playback quality of my HD's movies has been poor. For example when I play a 480p trailer the video appears very jaggy around the outlines of text and objects. The QT preferences are set to High Quality.
I tried completely reinstalling QT and still got the same results. Luckily I did still have the previous QT version so I installed that and now the playback quality is perfect once again. Guess I'll have to stick to this version until another update comes out.
Any one else have this problem?

I just tried using that option in the 7.4.1 version that i installed and doing so actually reduces video quality, don't think that would help in 7.4.5. Funny thing is when i do put it in safe mode the video quality looks exactly the same as in 7.4.5.
It's almost as if the newest version is running in safe mode even though i have it set to directx, strange...

  • IPhone 5 YouTube App Video Quality on LTE

    Hello,
I am new to this community and hopefully my post will receive some good information, feedback, suggestions and so forth. Well I have an iPhone 5 and when I use LTE and try to watch a youtube video on the app I have terrible video quality. I have speeds varying from 9 mbps or higher at times. Yet, when I use my WiFi at home for verizon I receive great video play back despite slower speeds (3-6 mbps). I would appreciate any information you guys may relay to me and/or experiences you have with the app through our wonderful carrier
    Thank you for your time!

I'm having the same problem with my iPhone 5
    And I have sprint LTE
I don't know why when I'm at home video quality is good on my wifi but when I'm on the go video quality is terrible on this YouTube app
My iPhone 4 had better quality with the old YouTube app

  • My high quality video looks terrible in iMovie HD

I rendered several files in Carrara into high quality .mov files, but as soon as I drag them into iMovie HD, they look terrible! They become much less sharp and more pixilated. I was hoping this was just while in iMovie to make it easier to edit, but when I exported/shared it at full quality it still looks terrible. help would be appreciated.

    Hi
    a. most probably there was a mpeg4 movie in Your .mov container.
iMovie uses streamingDV (13Gb/h of movie)
    b. You might test with iMovie'08 course it handles more strange formats.
