Editing 1.3 Gigabyte Wave File in GarageBand

I have a 1.32 GB wave file that I want to edit in GarageBand. But it seems to be to big for Garageband. It is a speach that is recorded with 44.1 kHZ sample rate and 24 bits. It is about 70 minutes of recording.
I imported the file and it plays, but when trying to insert a split, the part that should become region 2, disappears from the track, and leaves only region 1 in the track.
I would like to edit the file and use parts of it in a CD project and other parts in a DVD project as movie scores.
Anyone who has experience with such big files and how to split up one big region into smaller parts, of which some will could deleted?
Secondly, what is the best way to produce CD/DVD after editing this file?

Adding audio sample to GarageBand
Connect the iPad, select it in the left-hand column, open the Apps tab, scroll down to File Sharing, select GarageBand, add files with the button or drag and drop onto the file area. Files should be uncompressed audio in AIFF, WAV, CAF or Apple Loops format at 16bit, 44.1 kHz.
Insert audio sample into song
Open song in GarageBand on iPad, if needed switch to Tracks view or stop if playing, use the loops tool, audio files section, to insert your audio...

How to play wav files with Garageband/Midi keyboard

Hello,
I'm using Garagband (on my MAC, not iPad) and a midi keyboard for making songs. I just got a couple of cd's from Miroslav Philharmonik, but the sounds are all in standalone WAV files. There is no installation required. How can i use these sounds with Garageband? Must i copy/paste them in a specified directory on the HD? Or is a sample library necessary? I tried drag and drop, but that dind't work out...

Using .wav file format in GarageBand (GB)?

I am importing files from a Zoom H4n recorder in to GB. I am using 4 mic's so the Zoom recorded saves two files, one for one set of mic's and one for the other set of mic's. They are in .wav format. When I import the two files in to GB, they get converted to .aif format. It seems to compress the files since the file size shrinks. For example, the .wav files are 140 MB each. After importing them in to GB, the .aif file is 104 MB. I want to keep the .wav format. Is there a way to do that in GB or do I need another software application that will allow me to edit in .wav and save it in .wav? Thanks.

Which version of GarageBAnd are you using?
When I import .wav files to GarageBand 10.0.3 and open the .band project with ctrl-click > Show Package content, I can see, that the .wav files are stored "as is", in the original format in the Media > Audio Files folder.
But the edited song cannot be bounced as a wav file. You can only export from GarageBAnd as AIFF, MP3, or AAC.

Large .WAV file getting slowed/transposed down!

Hello all! HELP!
Why is it that I drag and drop a .WAV file into Garageband (it is a LARGE .WAV file at 779 MB) and it loads just fine and then plays the file DOWN a half-step lower??? So it slows down the whole file, in essence.
Any ideas?

Garageband seeing 16 bit wav files as 8 bit.

I am using Garage band 11. I have a session with speech and music. I came back to edit it and it would not open saying the audio was 8 bit. It was not it was wav and 44.1/16 bit. I opened the package contents and checked the wav files and they played fine. So how and why did Garageband suddenly see then as 8 bit?
I lost my whole session.

i don't know the "why," but all is not lost yet.
create a new project and drop the audio file into the timeline of the new project. if it really is a 44.1k 16-bit aiff file, then it should import into the new project.

How do I open a Quicktime created wav file in other sound editing software?

A friend sent me three wav files created in QuickTime but they won't open in ANY sound editing software or players I have other than Quicktime. I need to use these for an upcoming podcast but can't do anything with them until I can open them with my editing software (WavPad Sound Editing).
Can someone please tell me how to do this?

On a Windows system you can't. There is a plugin codec for WMV for the Mac version of QuickTime, but not for Windows. You'll need to use other software.

How to edit wav files

I've been using SoundTrack Pro 3 to edit WAV files, but I've now bought a sound recorder that creates 24bit 192kHz files. These are too big for SoundTrack, so I thought that Logic Pro would do the trick. So far I've had no success in trying to combine two files that are part of the same recording; the first segment is 3.9Gb and the second 4.27Gb.
Can Logic Pro do this this, or will I need to ask for a refund and find some alternative software?

Why 192 KHz? Do you have a compelling reason to use this absurdly high sampling frequency? That is, are you recording bats, or dogwhistles? If not, I'd advise you to convert the files to 24/48 - that'll do for almost all situations. If you really, rea-heally want a high sampling frequency for (very subtle) quality difference (imperceptable but for (maybe) some of the best trained sensitive ears), you could go with 24/96. But again, 24/48 (or 24/44.1) will do. The 24 is much more important (significant diffence with 16)...

You need to convert it to 44.1 16 bit. You can do that with iTunes.

Editing content
QuickTime Player lets you easily edit content you've created or downloaded. You can trim, combine, and rearrange clips. When you're done, just save or export your finished video.
Trimming
To remove unwanted footage from your media:
Open the file in QuickTime Player.
Choose Edit > Trim. The trimming bar appears.
To select the portion of the recording you want to keep, drag the yellow trimming bar handles to the left and right as desired.
When you are satisfied with your selection area, click Trim. The unwanted footage outside the the yellow trimming bar is removed.

react to tempo change or pitch change it played as the original wav file...

Streaming wav files once edited won't work in flash

I need some help with streaming wav files in flash. I can load a wav file and stream it ok using actionscript 3 into my fla file. However if I go to edit the wav and make it shorter the saved wav file will not play. I have used a trial version of soundbooth to see if I could somehow change the settings for the wav but I still cannot make it work. It will stream as an mp3 but I want the file to loop and need the file to be wav. I have attached the file. I have no problem when I upload the file into the fla file but that is not what I want to do.

Thanks for the input however I had already tried a variety of combinations. But I did go through it again.
The Flash Player supports 8-bit or 16-bit audio at sample rates of 5.512, 11.025, 22.05, or 44.1 kHz. I have tried all permutations of wav from 8 bit to 16bit and the all sampling rates from 11.025. The original file is attached at it was at 32000hz. Nothing I can do will make these play in flash once edited. I am using soundbooth howeve I have used audacity and wavepad. I have removed the metadata tags as that was suggested in one of the forums. I have attached the original files and the shortened file that I cannot get to work. I went into Soundbooth and went through all the preferences and checked the box where it asked for FLash compaticble at 16bit 44 hz etc. This is really frustrating. I know wav can be streamed.

Converting Wav files to edit in iDVD or imovie

I have a bunch of wave files that I want to burn to a dvd that I can play in a DVD player. IDVD and imovie don't seem to accept them. Short of buying expensive software like Final Cut how can I convert them and what format is best?
