Editing 1080p footage very slow in PP CC

Hi,
I have an Intel i3770K processor, with 32GB RAM, and a GTX 770 Card.
I'm actually having playback issues in PP with blackmagic footage in 1080p, it's very slow. Even footage from my Canon 70D, etc. when trying to edit all this footage is just not playing back well.
How do I know that my GTX 770 card is actually working in PP CC? Is there a way to check?
Also, is there a need to always encode all footage to a certain file type before editing?
Any help is appreciated.

No.
Tell us about your hard drives. One drive isn't enough. That could be the bottleneck.
If your settings look like this, then you are getting all of the acceleration you can get (assuming you have not applied an effect that is not able to be accelerated:

I am thinking of purchasing a Canon EOS 550d. I would be very interested to know if my April 2010 MacBook Pro 15-inch Core i5 2.4GHz will be capable of editing 1080p footage shot at 25fps (PAL). I have edited 720p footage without any problems, but I have never had a camera capable of recording in 1080p.

Should not be a problem at all. The best path is to transcode your footage using something like MPEG Streamclip to a usable codec, i.e. ProRes422 or Apple Intermediate Codec, for Final Cut Pro or Express respectively. If using Premiere Pro CS5, you can import native files directly into it. ProRes422 LT is a great codec from FCP7 only, it keeps the transcoded footage at the same file size as the native files and holds plenty of information for color grading later.
It's highly recommended to have all footage and scratch files on an external drive and not your OS drive. Makes everything operate more smoothly.
I do video work on the exact same machine using Final Cut Pro 7. I would strongly advise maxing out the ram. 8GB of ram helped a lot. I was hitting the 4GB limit with just a few pro apps open prior to adding more.

Adding songs and editing info is VERY slow on brand new mac

Hello, I have a brand new macbook computer. I'm trying to add songs to my iTunes library, which is mostly empty at this point. As I try to add songs to iTunes, they take quite a bit of time to get added into iTunes. If I try to edit their info (through Get Info), it takes forever for the information to go through. I have my preferences set to organize my music library folder. I noticed that only songs that are in my iTunes Library folder take a long time to get added (so, adding music that's in a random folder on the computer and isn't in my organized library folder gets added to iTunes very quickly, but if I'm adding music that's going to get organized in my library folder, it's very slow.)
I don't remember it being this slow on my older macbook. Any ideas as to why this is going so slow? It's clearly not a RAM or size problem, since this is a brand new macbook.

Editing triggers is VERY slow

I am using the latest release of SQL Developer 1.0.0.15.27 on a Windows XP 2002 SP2. I have 1GB of RAM and my processor is 1.86GHz.
When I click on a specific trigger under a schema in 'Other Users' it takes almost a minute for the trigger window to open. Then I have to click on the edit button in order to see the trigger syntax.
Other objects do not seem to have this issue and are displayed quickly. What's up with triggers?
This tool has a lot of potential! Thanks for taking the time to develop a new tool for developers.

A couple days ago, I cleared out a lot of excess files I had on my laptop as the hard drive was nearly full. So, I removed all of my movies, TV shows, and podcasts.
While the rest of the computer is a little bit faster now, my "spring cleaning" seems to have had the opposite effect in iTunes. Every time I try to edit anything in iTunes (be it changing the title or artist, pasting artwork, or adding new songs to my library), it takes forever to load the windows (such as "Add Folder to Library" or "Get Info").
I didn't edit any of the settings or anything, which is why I'm very perplexed as to why this is happening. All I did was cut and paste the Movies, TV Shows, and Podcasts folders onto an external hard drive.

Help! anyone who edits 1080p hd videos on macs

Will a 13" 2.8 Ghz intel core i7 (with an upgrade to 8GB) be fast enough to edit 1080p footage from a GoPro HD Hero2 WITHOUT LAGGING on a program like final cut? Becuase I dont have enough $ for a 15" and the 13" ones dont have the AMD Radeon HD graphics cards.

Very slow editing, playback sluggy even after render ...

I working on a movie, footage is mostly 1080p 50 fr. For the moment the movielenght on the timeline is only 8 minutes and editing is becoming so hard because of the slowness of some tasks...
I explain:
1) At start up loading this latest project is slow
2) Media asset pannel: thumbnails of footage is loading very slow when you go to another folder
3) Pre-viewing of (a part of) the footage already added to the timeline (expertmode) is sluggy, but sometimes even when pre-rendering with the renderbutton is done (the render markers are correct placed) !
Also a crash op PE sometimes happens (but not so frequent)
Final rendering to a format (dvd, mp4 etc) works well but ofcourse it's difficult to make a good movie if pre-viewing of the timelinefootage is not working well ...
So my question is if I replace my internal (ram) memory in my pc from 8 GB to 16 GB, would this fix all this 3 problems ?
I have only 2 memory banks, now with 2x4 gb so I would have to buy 2x8 that's more than 100 euro (more than PE itselfs thus ...).
My pc works well for a recent game like Far Cry 3 so I don't need the memory for other programs ... So I want to be shure if this will fix it.

That's almost the same as right-click and runas admin, the only difference is that you don't have to right-click. The problem with this solution I mentioned above already:
windows acts than like you are the admin and the admin documentsfolderlocations is the standard instead of yours folderlocations (so all your footage, pictures and all data you want to use in your project should be than in the admin documentsfolders instead of your own user folder ....
Than it's better to change the useraccountpermission in admin, that's what I did now. So I'm working with an account with full adminrights now. That's not very safe but I want to give it a try for the time of the project-in-use . I've updated also the graphic and audio drivers.
I've also disabled temporary AV.
All this didn't change anything for loading the thumbnails when you open a project. It still takes minutes to load and the first time after startup opening a subfolder in the assetspanel also takes again minutes (only the first time after startup, if you later go back in that subfolder thumbnails are showed almost directly).
Play-back of timeline seems almost ok now, but this was already yesterday the case (since the scratchlocations didn't change anymore)
In the manual I read that it is advised to defrag the scratchlocations from time to time. But win vista/7/8 have auto defrag ... ?

IMac is very slow and sluggish, keeps churning when editing files or on internet

My iMac is running slow and sluggish, it takes several minutes to edit a word document or search the internet ... intermittently it runs great but productivity is near zero when to edit a sentence in a Word document takes several minutes. When typing an email the cursor stops and if you keep typing it eventually fills in what was typed even though you can't see it when typing. Ran Etrecheck ... report is attached.
Problem description:

Matt ... got it done, recovery repair said Hard Drive OK. Re-ran EtreCheck report attached ... still having the same issues. Everything is fully backed up to Carbonite and Time Machine ... let me know if you see other conflicts or if it is the hard drive I will work to get it repaired.

Query designer formula editing very slow

Hi Experts,
deleting formula in the designer is very slow.
for example :
formula : noerr(a/b)
to add ndiv0 to this formula, i need to place the cursor at the right place and delete 1 character by 1 character. Each character takes about 1 second or more to get deleted and I have to wait for each character to be deleted before typing the 'delete' button again.
Is there a way to speed things up? Its very unproductive when editing formulas.

unfortunately...this has always been slow on any system i've ever worked on. you can try to close all other applications (inclusing SAP) when using the designer...this might help ( a bit).

Trouble installing photoshop update, and very, very slow P.Shop loading when hit Edit.

How do I install new update? When I go to my Programs, I can't find "Inspiration Browser", only "Elements 8". Directions say to uninstall Inspir. Browser but I can't find it in my programs. My Photoshop is VERY VERY slow to come up when I hit "Edit". Why is this?

AE CS6 very slow with footage

Hi guys,
I am using AE Effects CS6 (11.0.4.2) on a new Macbook Pro with these specs:
2.8 GHz Intel Core i5
16 GB MHz DDR3
Intel Iris 1536 MB
The problem I am having is that when imported footage is visible as footage or a layer, AE becomes very slow with every click of the mouse on either the timeline or the footage in the viewer itself causing the color wheel to appear, often for 30 seconds at a time. Strangely, dealing with the composition has no issues.
Any ideas guys?

Try transcoding the footage to a production codec and see if that makes a difference.
Like, use the Adobe Media Encoder to make them something like QuickTime with the PhotoJPEG codec.
See if that helps with the performance.

Editing 1080p 29.97fps footage in 720p sequence

Title basically says it. I know there are various ways to solve this but as the video is due I would rather ask and be sure then head down the wrong path.
So the problem is that I shot in 1920 x 1080 at 29.97fps and the customer wants 1280 x 720 in the final video. There is no preset for 720p 29.97fps in the "New Sequence" menu so I just used the "Digital SLR- DSLR 720p24" preset then under the "Settings" tab, then changed the "Timebase" to 29.97 which also changes "Display Format" accordingly.
I realize I could also edit in 1080p sequence then just export as 1280 x 720 but I want to be able to take advantage of zooming and reframing the 1080p footage in the smaller 720p sequence.
Is this the right way to do it? Any disadvantages or better ways?
I have shot 1080p 23.976fps quite a few times and it is simple to just create a 720p 23.976 sequence from the preset with no problems as the frame rates match in the footage and the preset. I just want to make sure I'm accomplishing the same thing.

Ok thanks. That's basically what I've done, created a custom sequence and also created a new sequence preset for 720p at 29.97fps. I have shot in 1080p at 23.976 fps and edited in a 720p sequence several times before, I just didn't realize there was no 720p 30fps or 29.97fps DSLR option or preset.
The 1080p footage seems to be playing fine in the 720p 29.97fps sequence I created so I think I've accomplished my goal. I will obviously export and have a close look, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something.

4k & 1080p footage in a multicam edit bug

This happened when I mixed 4k and 1080p footage in a multicam edit and on the multicam inside my editing timeline I changed the "Spatial Conform" to none so I can edit my 4k angle a bit more. When I change it back to "fit" everything works fine. Stupid bug Is there any fix to this?

It appears to me that this is just a glitch in the display in the angle viewer, and it does not affect the output. If so, while mildly annoying, it is not a showstopper.
Anyway, try resizing the angle viewer a little and I expect this to disappear.

Editing sliders very slow & jerky.......

I finally received my replacement ADS Pyro, so now I can start recording video again. The problem is that when I go to edit in iMovie HD, the editing sliders won't keep up with my mouse, as well as being very jerky & slow (if I move the upper single slider, things go very smoothly). Is this a known issue with Leopard?? I never had anything even remotely like this happen with Tiger. I need to have smooth operation when I go to edit, as the slow, jerky motions are extremely annoying. My machine is definitely up to the task as far as power & RAM go. Any input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I do know about the precision editing, but getting the sliders to the points that I want to edit was very slow & jerky (once the sliders were in the vicinity, the precision editing worked fine). I have changed some settings, as well as making some adjustments, & it seems to be working now. I will try it again on a couple of other projects just to be sure.
