Editing a downloaded podcast's description?

Hi, does anybody know if it's possible to edit the description of a podcast that has been downloaded from iTunes?
Thanks.

What about information that isn't accessible via the
Info tab? The release date, for instance.
For example, I'm listening to a St. Petersburg (Fla.)
Times podcast that promises a chapter a day of "The
Holly Wreath Man," read by the author. This weekend,
tho', it looks like they released two chapters on
Dec. 2 -- worse yet, in the wrong order. Can I, as an
end user-listener, edit that information on the files
I downloaded to reflect the correct dates?
Doesn't look like it. Maybe it's time to submit a request to Apple for this?
You could always rename the podcast so that the name has yyyy/mm/dd at the front. This would put them in the correct order if sorted by name.
Regards,
Colin R.
p.s. You would probably get a better response from others if you had set this up as a new post. I only spotted it because I was going though previous posts - this one was in at number 88, I usually only go as far back as 50.
You would also have the opportunity to mark your post as solved (as and when you get a satisfactory answer) - this is useful if other people in the same situation are looking for an answer.

  • Download Podcast's description only

How can you have iTunes automatically download a podcast's description without also downloading the podcast's audio/video content? With the proliferation of podcasts I would like to first look at the podcast's description before I "GET" / download the podcast's content.
What I have been doing is after just starting iTunes, quickly trying to "X" the pending downloads after reading the podcast description. What I am hoping to learn is a more graceful of doing this.
I realize you can delete the podcast after it is downloaded if it doesn't have immediate value. But having the podcast's description already available in iTunes means you can use the description as an index for future use.
    Any suggestions?
    Thank, Peter

How can you have iTunes automatically download a podcast's description without also downloading the podcast's audio/video content?
Sorry, that feature doesn't exist. You can do a get info on the tracks before subscribing and try viewing the description on an individual track.

  • Trying to find out how to edit artwork, keywords, titles, and descriptions

Trying to find out how to edit artwork, keywords, titles, and descriptions for my own video podcast that I have created for the iTunes store. My podcast shows on the first page in the itunes store (podcasts) for "forex" "forex training" and "forex education" under the name "fastpips", however I can't seem to find out how to change the title, for each podcast, the description, and keywords. I also want to add artwork to my podcast. I know how to do it under options for my own iTunes on my personal computer, but don't know how to edit it for others to see in the store itself. Thanks so much for any advice. By the way, I upload all my video podcasts to iTunes via ScreenCast.com I'm not sure if this will help, but here is the domain for the screencast files: http://www.screencast.com/users/ForexProFund/folders/FastPips.com%20Forex%20Trad ing%20and%20Forex%20Education

I have a similar question, I would like to edit the artwork for EACH episode in the podcast, as well as have one artwork for the entire podcast series. Any suggestions? This is a podcast that I've created -- I did the same thing for a TV Show where I was able to do custom artwork for each episode, but not one single artwork for the entire series. Does anyone have suggestions of how i should proceed?
    Recap:
One image for entire Podcast Series (or TV show)
Different Set of Images for each episode in Podcast. (Understand how to do this in TV show)
    Thanks!

  • Ipod nano not downloading podcasts

My ipod was downloading podcasts no problem, but since the last updater it is still downloading cd's but for some reason is not downloading any of my selected podcasts. the podcasts are showing in my library. thx

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
There has been another updater since this post. Have you installed that?
Also, connect your iPod to the computer. When it appears in iTunes go to edit-->preferences. Click the iPod tab. Click the podcasts tab under that. Make sure it is set to automatically update all podcasts (onto the iPod). Click OK.
    See if it works now.

  • Rhythmbox doesn't want to download podcasts

When I try to add a feed I get the following error:
    Error in podcast
There was a problem adding this podcast: Unable to parse the feed contents.  Please verify the URL: http://www.zen54064.zen.co.uk/Hospital% … st%201.xml. Would you like to add the podcast feed anyway?
If I download the feed with wget and then load it locally by pointing to it with "file:///..." it displays correctly - it lists the podcasts.
When I try to download the actual podcasts it fails and the little red circle with the minus (no entry sign? ) appears next to the podcasts.
I am behind a router, so I don't know if I have to open any ports or something.
What is the problem and how do I solve it?

Oh, it doesn't minimize to the traybar for you, either?
I downgraded to 0.12.1-1 and it still doesn't want to download podcasts. It minimizes to the tray, though.
    biagio,
want to try downloading that podcast feed and one of the podcasts just to see if it's rhythmbox or my connection, please?

  • Connection SLOWS WAY DOWN while downloading podcasts

Anytime that I download podcasts using iTunes its like it chokes all the other applications that are trying to reach the net. I watched the activity monitor while I was downloading podcasts to see if I was exhausting the line coming into my home- but no. I was only getting about 500kpbs down...
I download other files (typically HUGE files since I edit video a lot for work) and I never see my entire connection tank like that. Sure things will be slower but it will not box out all the other applications from reaching the net.
Anyone have any idea how to fix this or why its doing it?

Try starting Firefox in [[Safe Mode]]. That should sort it temporarily, then you van work though any addons/extensions that could be causing it.

  • How Do I Stop iTunes Downloading Podcasts?!

Situation: I use the iOS Podcasts app, from Apple.  I have done so for a while now, no problem; keeps my podcasts up to date and deletes old ones.
Since the recent update to iTunes (11.1.3 is installed on my Mac), it now keeps itself in sync with podcasts.
I do not want this.  I do not listen to podcasts on my Mac, and I don't want it to waste time/resources/electrons/bandwidth downloading podcasts.  However, I could forgive that problem except for one crucial thing: it gets it wrong.
    All.  The.  Time.
My podcasts are now being set as unread, old podcasts are being downloading on my iPhone, it's a crazy situation where sync is not working right.  I've tried to delete podcasts on my Mac (they come back).  I've unsubscribed from them and deleted them (they come back).
They're never effected on my iPhone, except, of course, that they're incorrectly updated with played information - old podcasts are resurrected from the dead, last played positions are wrong, and so on, despite never, ever, ever using iTunes to play a podcast.
How, please, anyone, can I stop iTunes from being "helpful?"  This is superbly broken behaviour.  It's not ideal if it downloads podcasts on my Mac, but the deal breaker is when it destroys all the positions and last listened and undeletes episodes I've deleted.  That's kind of: what's the point of the iOS app if it fails the fundamental task of ... keeping your podcasts correctly up to date?
    Help.

In the Podcasts window click settings near the bottom left. Change to, for example, download most recent instead of download all.

I bet this is too late but...
Are you trying to print through the airport express wirelessly or the built in wireless of the lexmark? If you want to use the airport express, there is no need to mess with the wireless printing on the lexmark at all. The airport express will be easy to set up, all the wireless setups through the printers are a pain.

  • Suddenly I can't download podcast episodes to iPhone, but they'll still stream

I seem to no longer be able to download podcast episodes on to my iPhone. When I update/refresh podcasts, the little numbers appear over podcasts, indicating there are new episodes: but when I go through to the podcast, I see the little "cloud + arrow" icon (whereas before they'd download automatically). I press on the cloud/arrow icon: it dims briefly, but nothing happens. In the "My Stations" view, there's the command "Download all" at the bottom: if I press that, it dims briefly, but nothing happens.
The episodes still stream fine: if I play them, they'll play, with occasional lags from streaming. But I now seem unable to download them.
Is anyone else having this issue?
Please, please don't tell me this is just Apple's latest move in "improving" Podcasts: I'd be horrified but not entirely shocked if they decided "No, you don't really want to download podcasts - you should just stream them all the time, because that's the right way to do it. And you want to do it the right way, don't you? The Apple way. The only right way."
This appears to have started this morning, and I updated with iOS 7.0.4 last night. Maybe that's a coincidence, or maybe it's connected.
Just when I was reconciling myself to the Podcasts app ...
    Thanks in advance!

Well, the tried and true may have worked: I turned the iPhone off and then on again, and now downloads seem to be working properly. On/off button, is there anything you cannot do?

  • How can I download podcasts from new PC to my iPhone 4s?

The phone had been using an iMac iTunes. I've now gone to a PC. (Forced to a PC because FCPX won't support my new video camera.) On new itunes, I registered new computer, backed up iphone, synced iphone (I think) and downloaded purchased music to new computer. But ... I can't get podcasts. I can't transfer old itunes library because it's on a large external hard drive that is not FAT 31. I am willing to lose stuff on present iPhone (only one purchased app) and I can restore music, but how do I get the iphone and new computer together so I can download podcasts, new music, new apps, etc?

If you have synced with iTunes on your new computer, all iTunes content on your iPhone would have been erased first with a warning message provided beforehand indicating this would occur.
Do you have Sync Podcasts selected under the Podcasts tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes and are there any podcasts available in your iTunes library on your new PC?

Thanks for taking a stab at it: that didn't prove to be the problem. That option in the settings for tabbed browsing was not checked.
I may be a bit behind the times: I am used to tabbed browsing showing all the tabs it possibly can, instead of just the last one. Sometimes it won't even show the last tab: I can have 15 tabs open, and not see a single tab. I've been confused by this into closing a window with lots of tabs open, because it looks like a single page-window.
My main problem with the tab-bar flashing to the end of the row is that it means a great deal more mouse-clicking around to browse.
I haven't tried installing the latest beta. Maybe that would fix the problem.

  • Problems downloading podcasts.........

Just installed the latest version of iTunes and all the podcasts I subscribed to I can no longer download. I get the following error message
+"There was a problem downloading 'podcast'. An unknown error occurred(-39).+
+Please check that the URL is correct and the connection to the network is is active and try again."+
Strange thing is though it only applies to the ones I subscribe to. Any other podcasts I can download like normal. I've even tried unsubscribing then subscribing again but this still doesn't work.
    Any ideas?

I too am having that problem in much the same configuration!
I managed to get my podcastings by continuasly asking the Itunes to download.
    Rughly about 20 times-
Dont anyone know what couses the problem!
