Editing a .pdf to allow freehand drawing

I have .pdf I use at work and is completed on a tablet.  The problem is that there are a couple sections which require freehand drawing to idicate a specific movement.  Is there anyway to allow a portion(s) to be available for freehand drawing?

How do I create the script?
You can use Acrobat to create Acrobat Javascript.
How do I link or attach the script to my PDF document?
You can use Acrobat.
What software do I need to create the script?
Acrobat <g>
Is there a low cost alternative to Adobe software?
In context of Acrobat Javascript?
For effective development and usage of Acrobat Javascript you want to start with Acrobat Pro.

  • What adobe product will allow me to edit a pdf file in its orignal form.

What adobe product  will allow me to edit a pdf file in its orignal form. I want to scan in a document in its orignal form and edit the document. Is this possible?  Please help where and how. Thanks

As George as suggested, the answer is sort of maybe, though you should not expect perfection. The OCR is not perfect (almost no OCR products are, unless you pay a lot of money possibly). You should always edit the original document and not try to do it from a scan if at all possible. The OCR is step to trying to recreate the original document, but there will always be manual steps involved.

  • How do I save a Pages document as a PDF that allows whoever I send it to to edit/type in responses in certain areas?

I am trying to create a PDF document using Pages '09 where whoever I sent it to can type in responses for certain things. It is like a workbook. However, I created a document with various text boxes, saved it as a pdf, and then opened it. I was unable to edit the pdf.
    Any suggestions? Thanks!

You need to edit the pdf in something like Acrobat Pro to do that. PDFs are not generally meant to be editable.

  • Allow a customer to edit a pdf file

We send out PDF files to customers that are designed using InDesign. Sometimes we want the customers to be able to make minor changes to the text direct into the PDF. However we have a large number of these customers and they do not have any Adobe tools installed. Is this possible?
It seems what I want to do is to create an editable PDF document but have all the text editable not just form fields
If so how would you recommend we go about this

No, it's really not possible. PDF is intended to essentially be a read-only delivery format. Even if your customers were well-trained Acrobat users, it wouldn't work well. The text in a PDF doesn't flow.
If the customers must really have edit-access, the only suggestion to be made is that you send these documents to them in a format which they are properly equipped to edit. PDF isn't it.

  • How to edit a pdf file?

I downloaded the free Adobe and i want to edit a pdf file and it wont allow me. asking me to subscribe.

You want to go to the source program you first edited and authored the file in and create a fresh new PDF from that file. You should always save a current copy of the program file which you authored the PDF file in. Acrobat is not really intended for creating content as such. You can do quick edits in Acrobat by setting up the Touch-up preferences, Preferences>General>Touch up, These should point to the programs you use to edit PDF content, in my case the Object editor is Illustrator and Image editor is Photoshop. Now if you select the touch up object tool and the click on the object(s) you want to edit selecting them, then right click to get the contextual menu and select, Edit Object, Acrobat will create a temp file and open it in the program which you selected in preferences. Do the edit and close the temp file, Acrobat uses the temp file to update the open Acrobat PDF file you were working on.
    Hope this helps

  • How can I edit a pdf file that was imported?

I want to edit a pdf/jpeg file that I imported/placed in AI?  Can that be done?

    Steven,
Illy just sees a bunch of pixels as do the rest of us.
You may use Image/Live Trace with suitable settings, expand, and let her work with the resulting vector artwork.
Or you may draw a (set of path(s) round the part(s) you want to keep (turning htem into a compound path in case of multiple paths, then select everything and Object>Clipping Mask>Make. That will only hide the outlying parts (unless you do the destructive deed), and you only have limited ways of (further) editing.
Or you may work in Photoshop or similar.

  • Help! adobe acrobat X pro. Cannot edit a pdf.

help! I have adobe acrobat X pro. Cannot edit a pdf. watched videos, followed directions, nothing. Tried tools, edit document text, recognize text, then tried even to change font, nothing.

What are you actually trying to do? Don't forget that Acrobat is not really an editor, but provides some tools to allow minor edits. If the file has security set, you may no be able to do anything.

Sorry, I am new to the type of problem-solution process and I do not know how to edit my first statement. My true statement is below:
My pdf freezes when I click on COMMENT. I am trying to get at the tools to edit a pdf. If I use the tools from the toolbar, there is no issue, but once I click COMMENT, the document freezes and I have to open Task Manager to crash it. This started in the last seven days (3.31.15).

I answered your questions below, BUT while I was searching for properties, I found the REPAIR ACROBAT INSTALLATION feature, did the repair and (Voila!) the issue was resolved!
Thanks for making me search for information.

I am using Acrobat XI Pro, version 11.0.10.32.
I did not create the file I was working in during the freezes, so I tried a PDF that I created with Adobe and it also freezes when I click on COMMENT. I did discover that the COMMENTS plug-in is loaded. (see image
I have used COMMENT for years without this issue occurring. It started in the last 2 weeks.
I could not find Properties under the file menu, but found a security setting in Preferences under the Edit menu. It did not have a way to allow/disallow COMMENT.

  • What software to edit a pdf?

Hi all, I have an application form that I can fill in with type script but it is a PDF file. Does anyone know of any software available for OSX that would allow me to edit a PDF so that I can type up some text into it before printing?
    Thanks for any help

PDFpen is great for doing this. Check it out:
    http://www.smileonmymac.com/PDFpen/
The demo version is fully functional, but puts a cute watermark on your page. The watermark comes out when you register for $50.
You can even use the program to make small edits to the existing text of a PDF.
I actually mainly use the program for other purposes, such as laying out pages of photos of assorted sizes with text from iPhoto:

  • How can I edit a PDF?

How can I edit a PDF without converting it to word or excel?

    Hi, newleopard.
    1. Drag the PDF file onto the icon for Preview to open it. Drag the cursor over the text to select it, hit Command-C to copy it, open any document you like in the application of your choice, and Command-V to paste the text into that document. You can't edit the text in the PDF document itself this way, but you can copy the whole text, paste it into a new docuemnt in any other application, edit it to suit your needs, and save it as a new PDF file from the Print dialog box.
    2. GraphicConverter can open a PDF file, allow you to modify its graphic contents, and save the revised file as a new PDF.

    Hello Anubha,
I am using the Adobe annual licence for Adobe PDF pack. I wanted to be able to edit a PDF file and when I selected this function it said I needed to update to Adobe Pro – and then it would not allow mw to update. Is there an additional cost? And if so how much is it and how do I go about updating so I can use this functionality.
    Kind regards,
    Lindsay

    Hi bay eastwood,
What version of Acrobat are you using, and are you on Mac OS or Windows? What happens when you try to edit the file a second time? Do you get an error, does Acrobat not respond, or does it crash?
Please tell us a bit more about what's happening, and your system setup, and we'll do our best to get to the bottom of it.

  • Acrobat x1 pro locks up my computer when I try to edit a pdf file.

I have done a repair and updated it and the problem still happens. I have to hard boot my computer to get out of the lockup. I am running win 8.1 on a dell laptop. Any suggestions on what other steps I need to take to fix it?

    Hey kenr31530102,
Please check under "File > Properties > Security" whether editing the document is allowed or not.
Does this happen with all PDFs or any particular document?
Are you logged in to your computer as administrator?
You might try right clicking on Acrobat icon and choosing 'Run as administrator' option.
    Let me know.
