Editing a Slide

I need to cut about 0.6 seconds off of a slide that was
created by recording steps from an application. Specifically, I
have a dropdown box that appears at the end of the slide but it
shouldn't show. Is there a way for me to cut that off of the end of
the slide without having to re-record it?
Thanks for your input!

J@gs#1, please confirm if this is a static slide or a Full
Motion Recording (FMR) as these 2 babies are handled completely
differently. Rick pointed you to the FMR editor which is what you
would need to edit a FMR clip such as shaving off 0.00000002
nanoseconds from a clip. Static images, on the other hand, merely
display for a period of time with no inherent transitions within
those slides (think powerpoint) and all your captions, zooms etc.
appear and disappear around that slide. To edit a static, use
MSPaint (its fast, free and does not consume memory) or replace the
slide.
Help I hope I did

  • Personalized Template, can't edit added slides, only edit master slide

    Hello Keynote Geeks!
I am counting on your expertise to help me with this challenge.
    This is what happened:
    1) I had a design company to create a personalized presentation template for my production company.
    2) Whenever I try to use this template Keynote keeps insisting on only allowing me to edit master slides. Even after I added them to the presentation. This creates a dumb workflow in which I have to be duplicating master slides, editing them in the edit master slide menu and then adding them back to my presentation.
I recorded a 2 minutes screen flow video demonstrating the issue. Please watch it on this Vimeo link:
    https://vimeo.com/124934712
I will be incredibly thankful to anyone that gives me a smart solution to optimize our presentation edit workflow.
    Cheers from Brazil,
    JP Jacobsen

A "geek" means a clumsy fool, I would never call anyone this.
You are not using the correct method to edit items on a slide. Double clicking an object on a slide that is on the slide master allows editing the master object, it does not allow editing the object on the slide.
    The correct procedure is:
add a new silide based on a slide master of your choise
to add a photo to the slide;   use a Finder window to drag and drop a file onto the image place holder
to add new text to a slide; click on the text placeholder once, then type in the new text
This assumes the master slide was created correctly by using media and text Placeholders.
To add a text placeholder to a master slide: add a text box to the master then change the font, size and colour
select the text box then:     Format > Advanced > Define as text placeholder
To add a Media Placeholder to a master slide: drag and drop any image file of the correct format (vertical or horizontal) on to the master
select the photo then:     Format > Advanced > Define as Media placeholder
close the master slide by clicking the blue Done button bottom right

  • Simple way to use the Photo Gallery Module and flexslider to create an editable image slider?

I want to offer an image slider that my clients can easily update themselves through the Admin. Ive researched it alot and I know it can be done using web apps but does my cliently seriously need to pay over $400 a year for the webcommerce option just to have an updatable image slider?? I find that unrealistic. Does anyone know how to set this up using the photo gallery module and "flexslider" so clients on the business marketing plan can have access to a simple and clean editable image slider?
Any BC experts that can help would be greatly appreicated!
    Thankyou

Not an expert, but I think what you're looking for is a slider that can get its list of photos from an XML file.  The Photo Gallery module can produce an XML file.

  • Editing a slide DURING presentation

    Hello,
I am wondering whether editing a slide while presenting it on the second monitor is possible.
This would be great for brainstorming ideas (eg. fill a table with ideas on several issues, according to the audience's feedback).
I tired several times, but it didn't work. Sure Live Quartz technology is powerful enough to do so... so is this feature available ? Is it planned ?

No, you can't edit a slide while it's being displayed, but there are applications that allow you to draw over the slide (those drawings can't be saved in any way other than a screenshot, though*). I think it can be done, but Keynote is more of a straightforward presentation tool than a brainstorming app, so I wouldn't imagine that this is on the list of "things to do".
But, you can always send feedback to Apple
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/keynote.html
*speaking of screenshot, if you change the format of the file being captured to PDF, would that separate the image into layers allowing you to see the foreground images OVER the background or is it all flattened into a bitmap?

  • Non editable text slides in iPhoto 11? (v9.4.2)

I can't seem to add second or subsequent text slides to an iPhoto slideshow. It's not that the button doesn't work. It creates the slide in the correct sequence location however I'm unable to edit the text from the default 'Subtitle Text Here' - Is this a bug?

Yes, I can select all of the text or just a portion of it. When I highlight the text and then start typing to edit ithe text then nothing happens.
I've tried changing the font, the normal copy past shortcuts, reducing the number of slides (thinking it was a memory issue), duplicating the slide (which only duplicates the background image).
Rather than waste too much time a simple work around was to simply create new 'text' slides in Photoshop and to have these appear in the slide show.
I think it must be a bug however as one of the things I just tested resolves the problem. If I disconnect the secondary Apple Thunderbolt Display and then edit the text slide viewing it on the 15-inch built in screen of the MacBookPro it works as designed. I think it's possibly related to Thunderbolt (but not related to the Apple Extended USB keyboard which is plugged into the Thunderbolt display since using the keyboard on the Mac didn't work either).
    Thanks for the help.

  • Editing a slide via timeline

Is there a function that allows you to advance through the actions of a single slide in the edit window?
Say i have a keynote presentation with my text that is centered and then moves to the corner of the screen. I want this text to stay in the corner for the entire presentation. So when I create the next slide i have to re-create this text again and put it in the corner so that it matches the text from the previous slide. How I do that now, is to first guess where i think it should go and how big it should be on the second slide, then play the show to see how it looks. Adjust, then play again... it bothers me to have watch all the way through my first slide just to see if it matches the second... again... and again... this could easily be solved if there was a "timeline" like slider/bar in the bottom of the edit window when I create the slide to begin with. i could advance to the end of my text action on the first slide, then bounce back and forth "quickly" between slides one and two to match them up.
This would also be handy when there are multiple text boxes on top of each other on one slide. They are hard to read in the edit window and impossible to edit. but if you could advance through them in the edit window to check for spelling errors whatever that would be awesome.
so is there such a feature in keynote?
sorry for the long post... thanks for the help!

You have a couple of options.
    1) Create a slide that has the corner text where you want it and duplicate it a bunch of times. Then make whatever other changes you need to make to those slides. Probably a good idea to keep one "clean" one in case you don't duplicate enough the first time.
    2) Create a new master that includes that corner text. Search your iWork help for more information on editing slide masters.
I have used both of these options and either one will work for you.
    Hope this helps!

  • Editing a slide in "zoom" view

I am working with Captivate v4.
When I am doing some delicate editing on a slide (align etc), I tend to use the zoom option to 150 - 200%.
What I am finding is when working in zoom mode everything I do on the slide results in the object moving in a very jerky, time delayed fashion whilst it takes up its new position rather that the smooth motion you tend to get when working in normal view.
Is this something to do with the spec of my PC or is this the way it works in Captivate v4 ?
Does the same thing happen in V5 ?
    Thanks in advance,
    Noel

    Hi Vishwas,
    Thanks for your prompt reply.

  • Editing the slide background

I have captured an online software demo. After doing so, the
company in which I captured this for has been bought. So here's the
    challenge.
Instead of re-capturing the entire process, I was easily able
to simply copy the background slide, put it into photoshop, adjust
the colors (only thing that changed with the new branding) and
paste back in as a new slide background. Tedious, yes...but would
take much less time than recapturing...editing for pace and voice
    over.
That worked perfectly except for the slides where there is
typing or a mouse click. It appears that Captivate also catpures
horizontal bitmaps for those actions, which show the 'old' colors.
You can't see these items on the timeline in Captivate, although I
know they exist because I have imprted into flash and seen the
    elements.
Does anyone know how to disable these items or edit them so
that I can make it consistent with the color changes?
    Thanks in advance.

Hi chrisbk and welcome to our community
    aaasdf
For the slides where you have captured typing, have you tried
right clicking the typing layer and DE-selecting the "Show Typing"
element? Maybe that will work. Same with the mouse. Try turning it
    off and see what happens.
Here is where I'm going to implore everyone reading this
thread to stop for a moment and flood Adobe with a suggestion. When
you record a movie and have elected to include recording the
typing, you are adding a typing layer to your slide. If you should
make a typo, then backspace over the typo to correct it, guess what
happens? You have no easy way to edit this out. If it's important
to not include the typo, you must re-record that slide. So here is
    where you come in.
    Currently, Captivate offers us
88 different types of animated text! 88! Think about all the
programming effort it takes to create all 88 of those effects. We
have text swooping in from any direction, all kinds of different
fades, fish nibbling the letters away. Wow. Amazing! Now look at
this list of 88 effects and see what is
extremely useful but woefully missing! An animation of
simple typing text. Geez, how long would it take a developer to do
that? 5 minutes? I mean, for all the coding it takes to give us
fish nibbling away at letters, it really should be a very simple
thing for the developer to do.
So, if you feel so inclined (and I really hope many of you
do) take 5 minutes of your day and submit an enhancement request
asking for a simple typing text animation. If we had this, there
would be no need to re-record slides where we made a typo. We could
actually forego recording that piece at all, then add it later via
    a typing text animation.
If you would like to add to the collective voice of others
that would like to see this feature, please consider submitting a

  • Problems saving/reimporting edited PPT slides back into Cap5/Mac

Greetings, folks - 25 year Mac veteran here, new to this forum and Adobe products but an Apple Certified Pro w/emphasis on audio & video, experiencing some disappointment with Captivate 5/Mac's inability to integrate with PowerPoint as advertised.  I'm building a fairly straightforward presentation, making basic edits & changes to the .pptx and when the changes are saved and re-imported back into Captivate, they either fail to appear, or appear only in part.  In the interest of time, I'm having to work around by taking screen shots of the updated ppt slides and inserting them as images, over the Captivate slides which have failed to take the edits & updates.  FYI, running OSX 10.6.4, Captivate 5.0.0.596, Powerpoint 2008 for Mac v. 12.2.6 (100708) in case it matters.  Very grateful for any suggestions or assistance...thanks again, cheers!

Bump...anyone at Adobe, want to at least admit publicly that this is a 'known issue', or shall I just bill you for my testing time on an incomplete product?

  • Why can't I see or edit my slide notes?

I'm probably making a silly mistake as a new user of captivate 6.  Whether I start a new presentation, or import a PPT which already inclused slide notes, I can't see any notes in captivate.  the slide notes box is there but the icons (eg the + incon) are not displyed, and in the windown menu whilst the slide notes option is not greyed out clicking it has no effect - no tisck appears besides it and the slie notes box doesn't change
    any ideas??

    Hi,
If you Click on -- Slide Notes box under the Window, it does not open the Slide notes pod for you, you workspace might have some problems.
Can you check resetting it --
Try importing that presentation to a New Blank Project and Check Slide Notes-- from Windows.
Note-- Make sure the Slide is in focus (selected) which you go to Slide Notes pod to check the Slide notes for that.
    Thanks,

  • Keynote crashes when editing a slide

Keynote crashes every time I for example draw a square and touch it. I then have to start the program again to access ny presentation.

I just had the same problem on the iPad 2 & iOS 8.
I fixed it by making a new presentation in keynote for ipad, then going back and copying all of the slides from the old presentation and pasting them into the new one. Have been working with it for about an hour now without issue.
I'm curious, did you happen to upload a presentation that you made on your Mac to your iCloud disk instead of directly into the keynote (beta) app in iCloud? I ask because I haven't had this problem before, and today I used the disk rather than uploading directly to keynote like I usually do.
    Hope this helps!

  • Editing Animation Slides

I just recorded my first movie in Captivate 3.  Due to PII standards, I need to edit the screenshots captured so real customer and employee information is not shown.  Can this be done and if so, how do I get the images captured to copy so I can transfer them to an editing program such as Photoshop or Paint?

    Hi there
It depends on how you captured the data.
Often there is no need to edit in a third party application. If you captured using the normal screen-by-screen capture, you can insert a Highlight Box object, cover the information and merge it into the background to obliterate the information. Then layer in a Transparent Text Caption to provide fictitious information if you like.

  • Easiest way to edit PPT slide titles

Clients give me PPTs shortly before webinars. When recordings are viewed, slide titles are "Slide 1" "Slide 2" etc. instead of the meaningful titles in the slides. I notice that if I enter text into the default PPT slide layout, the text from the top-most box appears as the recording slide title. If there some PowerPoint 2007 technique I can use to make user created text boxes appear as slide titles in Connect recordings? My workaround is to add transparent outline text for each slide and paste in the text from the user's text box.  Any better technique?
