Editing a VM in vCAC 6.0.1.1 configures incorrect Network Adapter type

Hi All,
I am experiencing an issue with vCAC 6 in regard to configuring a secondary network adapter for a previously deployed VM.
The VM is a Win 2k8 R2 VM that was created from a Template that was located in vCD.
When I edit the VM and submit the request for the secondary network adapter, it creates the NIC with an adapter type of Flexible.
As Win 2k8 does not support Flexible, we need to specify that VMXNET3 is selected.  Any ideas how this would be achieved?
I have had a go at doing this using custom properties but this does not seem to make a difference.
Any direction appreciated.
Regards
Dave

Honestly, I have had some real trouble with "Edit" for any network function in both VCAC 6.0 and 6.1.
I haven't tried to solve this one yet, but if I were to go about it... I would use the Advanced Service Designer and add the network adapter via VCO workflow.  Then let the inventory service come through and pick up the change (-or- you can actually kick off an inventory scan from the VCO workflow as well).
If you do not have ASD, you won't be able to do that, and you may be at the mercy of the current limitations in the product version you are using.  If there is an answer, I hope you find it.  I am also interested in knowing if this is possible via "Edit."  For the time being, we have completely removed "Edit" as an entitlement as it has created more trouble than good.
You could also just have a blueprint that deploys a machine with two or more network adapters.  Maybe that would work for you.  Dunno.

  • Multiple windows open in safari when click on web site.  Also can't change/edit DNS servers or any other changes in advance window of network tab

    macbook pro
    osx - mavericks
multiple windows open in safari when click on web site.  Also can't change/edit DNS servers or any other changes in advance window of network tab.
Basically every time i click on website other windows open and get redirected to other websites selling something (same as that mackeeper site which seems to open often)  Really ***** as in just a few minutes on the web I have many windows open and many are the same pages.  Can't make changes in the advanced tab of network as options are greyed out and the + & - symbols do nothing when clicked.  Hope there is an easy answer as surfing net is really sucking right now

I hope to get some more info on a similar situation.
I have a new Mac Pro, less than 2 months old. OSX 10.5 updated to 10.5.2. Quicktime updated too. When I use the Desktop and Screen Saver system pref, I can easily select and use one of the Apple supplied desktop pictures as a desktop background.
But I wish to use a Photo from an iPhoto (iLife 08) folder / album as the desktop background. I can find all the albums, I can see all the icons for the pictures, I can select an iconed pciture and it appears in the top left of the preference pane (showing the effect of "fit to window" or "stretch to fit", etc). But all I get is a pale blue screen (which might be my default desktop colour). I don't get any of my iPhoto album pics to appear as a dektop background.
There is one minor note on this, I don't keep the pictures in my iPhoto Library, I just reference them, and the originals are on a different internal disk.
I've tried the suggestions above, trashing finder and desktop plists, killall Finder, etc. restart. Nothing gets it working again. It did work originally, for most of the time I've had the Mac Pro, then I changed the dektop to an Apple supplied picture of Earth.
This affects both an Admin, and a standard user. The photos (and enclosing folders) are read / writable by the admin user, and readable by the Standard user. Both users can easily access the photos in their iPhoto. They open the original files on the second internal drive, and performing a right click - Show File shows the original file as expected. I've even emptied the iPhoto library completely and rebuilt it, just in case there was an issue here.
Any ideas ? or anyone else seen this ? I don't really want to start reformatting disks and reinstalling the OS, but any suggestions short of this are extremely welcome.

  • Can I edit footage, using the DV files that are saved over a network?

What I mean is, I have saved my MiniDV DV footage to a external hard drive which I connect to over ethernet, its not a NAS, its a HDD in a PC I have.
I have my iMac (intel 2GHz), can I use iMovie 08 to import, edit and save to the HDD over the network?
Its just the files are big (ie 13Gb per hour), so I save them on my external HDD, rather than my iMac
Will it cause any problems? or anything?
    cheers

Ethernet is generally slower than FireWire.
You could import the files into your iMac and edit them there, then save all the edited material back onto the external hard disc. But Ethernet isn't generally fast enough for real-time editing (..across the network..) onto the external disc. So you'd (1) move the files to the internal, (2) edit them there, (3) export or Save the edited project back again to the external disc.
Note than a disc formatted for use on a PC will probably be identified by your Mac's 'Finder' as a "PC Exchange format" disc ..the file system used on the disc would probably be the DOS 'FAT 32' system.
Although Macs can read and write to this format, some of the iMovie-specific "metadata" may not be saved onto a FAT 32 disc; iMovie prefers to work with a Mac-formatted "Mac OS Extended" format ..but PCs generally can't read or write to that!
So what you may need to do is to bring in all your material onto the iMac for editing, and then 'Share' or Export the resultant movie(s) as QuickTime movies (..instead of as original 13GB-per-hour DV files..) if you want to be able to play the results on that PC itself.
But I'd avoid using an external hard disc which is actually in a PC; the format (file system) - although
it'll work with a Mac - is all wrong for iMovie.
Invest in a proper, separate external FireWire hard disc - they're cheap now: Amazon's selling 1000 gigabyte discs for £89 ..that's about $140..! - and immediately format it (..using Applications>Utilities>Disk Utility..) as 'Mac OS Extended', and then use it exclusively with your iMac.
You'll be far happier that way..

  • Network adapter configuration error after quick migrate of stopped VM in 2012 r2 data-center edition 3 node cluster environment

We've got a couple of Windows 2012 r2 / Hyper-V 3 node clusters, and I have a problem with network adapters on them.
I have 3 node cluster all vm running fine on node 1 and 2 also quick and live migration very good between
node 1 and node 2, but no vm migrating on node 3.  show "Network adapter configuration error".
If the VM is powered off, and I move it to 3rd
host (quick migration via Failover Cluster Manager), the network adapter loses its connection to the virtual switch - it turns to "Configuration Error"..if
manually change V switch of every VM then it worked only on 3rd node, and having same problem on node 1 and 2.
Quick migrate with the power off, and it fails to pick up the VSwitch on the3rd host.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    > I created a new VM via the Failover Cluster Manager (ie not via Hyper-V manager on one of the nodes).
Generally, this issue happens if a network adapter is added or removed on a highly available virtual machine using the Hyper-V manager console. Since the Hyper-V Manager console is not cluster aware, which means that configuration changes that are made to
virtual networks or virtual machines in the Hyper-V Manager console must be replicated to the other cluster nodes by using the “refresh virtual machine configuration” option in the Failover Cluster Manager console.
I know that “refresh virtual machine configuration” option is not needed if you change virtual machine settings using the Failover Cluster Manager console, but you may try to refresh the configuration of virtual machine to check the result.
In the Failover Cluster Manager console, expand Services and Applications, and then click the virtual machine for which you want to refresh the configuration.
In the Actions pane, scroll down, click More Actions and then click Refresh virtual machine configuration.

  • Adapter Engine - Messages in To Be Delivered status

    Hello,
    I am using a SAP XI 3.0.
Checking the Message Monitoring, I have seen that there are a lot of messages in status To Be Delivered. I think that this status in an initial status because then the message has to be set to Delivering in a next step.
Specifically, the mentioned status is related to a Communication Channel which is configured as below:
    Adapter Type: XI
    Transport Protocol: HTTP 1.0
    Addresing Type: URL Address
    Target Host: A determined value
    Service Number: A determined value
    Authentication Type: Use Logon Data
    User Name: A determined value
    Password: A determined value
There is no module added in Module tab.
I think the problem is that messages are queued requesting any information but I do not know if there is any place to check it (in smq2 transaction, the queues are empty and this kind of channel is not shown in Communication Channel Monitoring).
    Thanks in advance.
    Best regards,
    Gemma

Even more weird is that sometimes a entityManager.find() give us null object even if the database record of the sougth persisted object exists.
It seems that we have a network problem here but WLS / JVM is not throwing exceptions so we cant show to network administrators this problem.
Our Weblogic is version 10.3.4 running on Redhat 5 with kernel 2.63.18-194.e15.
JDK reports itself as "Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 20.1-b02, mixed mode)".
We have the exact replica of the faulty server (hardware and configuration) running the same application in the same domain connected to the same network switch connecting to the same Oracle instance but in that server we haven't suffer such problem.

Io exception: The Network Adapter could not establish the connection..
I'd check in tools->embedded oc4j server preferences (current workspace app / data sources) and do a refresh now.
Next, make sure your app module config files reference the right connection by right clicking the app module and selecting configuration. lastly, make sure the project points to the right database connection by right clicking project -> properties, business components.

  • Adapter Metadata

    Dear all.....
We are developing a custom adapter to handle EDI 997 acknowledgement file.I would like to know what configurations should be done in Adapter Metadata.....
Helpful answers will be given reward points.........
    Regards,
    Azahar

    Dear Jalaludin,
With adapter metadata you can define configuration data needed for a certain type of adapter at design time. Adapter metadata define the part of a communication channel that is specific to the adapter type.
The functions for creating and editing adapter metadata are intended for parties developing new adapters. They are not intended for general use.
For more information about adapter development, see Adapter and Module Development.
You can export adapter metadata as an XML file and import it into the Integration Directory. In this way you can provide the configuration with new adapter types.
To export adapter metadata, choose Adapter Metadata ® Export XML Description in the object menu bar.
SAP ships adapter metadata for all the adapter types it provides. You can find the adapter metadata shipped by SAP in software component SAP BASIS, software component version SAP BASIS 6.40, in namespace http://sap.com/xi/XI/System.
You can find adapter metadata in the corresponding namespace in the navigation tree of the Integration Builder (Integration Repository) under Adapter Objects ® Adapter Metadata.

  • InDesign CC 7 crashes when network connection is lost.

    Hi all,
I'm trying to troubleshoot an issue with InDesign CC7. I tend to work on documents from our server at work, and each time the network connection is interrupted (I undock my laptop to walk around, switchover from wireless to wired, brief hiccup in the lan, etc) and I have an InDesign document open, I recieve an error message from InDesign that I've lost the network connection to the document (fair enough).
When I acknowledge that message, InDesign becomes unresponsive and crashes. You'd think that as soon as the network connection is reestablished (usually a fraction of a second), the connection to the document would be reestablished, or at worst, I'd have to do it manually. When I restart InDesign, I usually am able to enter recovery mode and get my work back, but on occasion, I lose quite a substantial portion of my work. This has lead to inaccuracies and duplication, becasue I think I've taken information out of one portion of the manual and put it somewhere else, but in reality, the information I removed has been replaced during the recovery process.
I don't understand why the program crashes each time a network connection is lost. The obvious answer is to work locally and save on the network, but I shouldn't have to do that to keep the program from crashing. If anyone has any insight, please let me know. Thanks.

You may also want to edit the advanced power settings on your computer to not turn off the hard drives, not put the computer to sleep, etc.
You can get to these settings in windows by right clicking on your desktop, select personalize, then screen saver in the lower right. Now click on the "Change power settings" link towards the bottom, then change the plan settings for the plan that is currently in use.  You will then see the "change advanced power settings" link.  I'm sure there is an easier way to get to it, that is just how I always do it and I tend to be a creature of habit
**edit** the other way is Control Panel -> Power Options
And also be sure to configure your network adapter so that windows can't turn it off.
Here is a microsoft link with a handy fix-it tool to automatically turn off the network adapter power management settings:

    - is Oracle really running on the default port, 1521
    - is the installation SID really "orcl"
    2) lots of possibilities, but only a couple are likely
    - is TCP/IP configured and running on your host
    - is there a persoanl firewall rpduct running? perhaps it's blocking the connection
    3) Is Oracle running?
    Is the listener running?

    Different types of ackmnts are:
    System acknowledgement:Positive system acknowledgment.
The receiver was reached successfully. For server proxies, this means that the implementing class for the server proxy was found and that the method for inbound processing could be called.
    SystemErrorAckRequested:Negative system acknowledgment.
SAP Exchange Infrastructure runtime reports that an error has occurred during transfer or processing of the message on its way to the receiver. For example, an error in a mapping program or a missing server proxy in the receiver system could trigger this acknowledgment
    ApplicationAckRequested:Positive application acknowledgment
The message was processed by the receiver successfully.
    ApplicationErrorAckRequested:Negative application acknowledgment
An error occurred during message processing at the receiver.
IDoc sender adapter requests the following acknowledgements:
    SystemErrorAckRequested
    ApplicationAckRequested
    ApplicationErrorAckRequested
File receiver adapter supports only system acknowledgements and system error acknowledgements if they are requested by the sender.
    So you will get:
SystemErrorAck – when message has not reached the target system
AckRequestNotSupported – for all others acknowledgement types (your case is here)
For IDOC, you could have ALEAUD as an acknowledgment IDOC.
Check this document on handling IDOC acknowledgements. This might give you some pointers.

There are two types of JDBC acknowledgements Transport level and application level.
IF the JDBC call is asynchronous you can set up for transport level acknowlegement in the send step in ur BPM.
if the JDBC call is synchronous then JDBC adaptor will generate a response message with a tag update count, which gives you the number of rows that were updated.
refer to the following link, which details about reciever jdbc

    ADAPTER METADATA:

  • Connection to company network

I am trying to connect my iPOD Touch to a WPA/WPA2 network in my office, I am able to see the network after configuring the network name, type, and password, but then when I connect I got a message saying that it is not able to connect. what I am missing?

For some reason a number of my posts have disappeared on recent threads the past week or so and a couple of the threads have suddenly been answered with the post that was put up before my disappearing one. Which I know wasn't there. Hmmmm..... What is going on?
    Dib.
AAPL that still doesnt explain as to why my message completely disappeared. I actually received a message saying i didn't have permission to view the thread. The message lasted about 30 seconds.

  • Local WebServer - Dev Strategies

    Hello,
I have some virtual machines running linux WebServers so that I can test our product when I am on the road and perhaps without an internet connection.
I am curious as to what people may be doing for this type of development environment (networking to virtual machines when out of touch with the internet).
My linux OS's are all networked fine when at my office. They are all set up on 10.0.1.x that hit our gateway (10.0.1.1). This way all the VM servers can be hit by other physical computers on that network.
My idea was simply to create a "offline" location in my MacBook which would then have the I.P. of 10.0.1.1. I would then issue DHCP licenses from my MacBook.
However, I am usure how to do this 10.5.8. It appears I can create a network by clicking on airport, then selecting create new network... but I don't think I should have to use Airport to create a network should I? I'm trying to avoid getting into the terminal so that I can easily change between "Locations" when connected vs. unconnected. Is there a GUI way of creating a network that will work with locations?
    Thanks for your thoughts.
    Donovan

Thanks for the response etresoft... it worked to steer me in the right direction anyway!
Since all my VMware "guests" (virtual machines) are servers.. static I.P.'s are needed. Unfortunately, VMware's built-in "host-only" is more for DHCP in a specific subnet.
This limits the ability to configure a local network to match your physical network.. which is really what is needed to avoid having to change your "guests" network settings whether you are on the road or in the office.
There is a 3rd party script that someone is offering that is supposed to address some of these concerns.. however, it is a bit outdated and doesn't work with OS 10.5.8/VMware Fusion 2.0.5.
The guy who wrote it is on vacation and may update it when he gets back.
There may be one other alternative for those that may run into this.. if all your guests happen to have static I.P.'s in the default "host-only" subnet set up by VMware's "Configure Virtual Network Adapter"... static I.P.'s may then work. I have not tried this though because it would require me changing all my guests network configs, my /etc/hosts config of my MacBook, and then ultimately my physical office subnet to match it. So for now, I'm on hold with this idea.
Just wanted to tie this post up incase anyone else may find it useful.
